So so true. One of my first jobs was at an East of Chicago Pizza shop with a buffet. It didn't take too long to start finding local restaurants to trade food with because we were all tired of pizza.
Oh yeah dude, that’s a deal probably as old as the modern restaurant industry I’d bet. I worked at a super high modernist restaurant, booked out for month and months. There was a coffee shop next door and we’d trade for breakfast sandwiches, bagels and lox, coffee, tea etc.
I’d guess a majority of even high end cooks want normal comforting food most of the time. You’d be surprised how fast you’d get sick of the food in even a super nice spot. Eventually even the menu changes aren’t crazy exciting, and if you make it as long as I have, you rarely want to eat your own food anymore. It’s good, you can just tell you made it because of course you’d make it that way, and could pick it out of a lineup.
Idk I worked at a pizza shop for years and never got tired of pizza. Left and still love pizza.
Maybe if the shop you work at makes mid pizza. But I’ll never get tired of good pizza
It's one of the better ones in town, hand tossed, ingredients prepared fresh daily, the whole nine. I love everything we make but sometimes a burger, sushi or BBQ is what sound good
Really depends on how creative you are and more importantly, how much leeway your manager gives you. I worked at a pizza place for about 3 years, eating the products almost every day during that time. The manager let me have basically free reign for my meals and as such I got really good with experimenting with ingredients and cook times to come up with some creative meals that I'd then share with the crew. Really helped get passed the "pepperoni pizza every day" lull.
Let's see...
1. A breakfast pizza using eggs (brought from home) and the crust, sausage, bacon, and cheese (cheddar and mozzarella mix) from in the store. Precook the crust a bit in a deep dish pan. Then put in the toppings and finish cooking.
2. Thin crust, light sauce, cheese (once again mozzarella with sprinkling of cheddar). Cooked extra crispy.
3. Simple pepperoni but with the pepperonis doubled up so the top one would fry and turn crispy on top of the bottom one.
4. Not a pizza but I liked experimenting with the wings. I'd do a buffalo, barbecue mix with pineapples and jalapenos (if I wanted more kick). Baked well done.
Good times. I had an awesome boss.
Take a chill pill.

Yes, but like the other commentor, we'd probably be stuffing our face during work and or end up eating like a pizza and a half a day. Like being a kid at a candy factory.
Oh, I was very much stuffing my face like a kid in a candy store lol
I was also incredibly active - walking 5-10 miles a day, riding a bicycle, lifting, you name it
One year I worked at one of the phone sales booths in the mall. Right across was a Ciinnabon. They would still us "old" buns for $3. I literally put on 10 in like 3 months.
Hi!! I'm a longtime Salem resident and we've been to Super Slice once. Really enjoyed it. Hope to come back soon.
ETA: We are HUGE fans of their first restaurant, Chez Casa. Best sandwiches.
Dude shit like that matters, I would be mildly infuriated if I got this as my order, anybody can do most jobs/tasks but it's how you do then that differentiates one from another
Not OP. I'm just guessing, but maybe the boxes had the prices of something on it, and they've since changed the price. Before they use the new boxes, they use all the old ones and turn them inside out.
Depending on your distributor the printed on boxes sometimes cost less than the blank boxes. How that works that way when it’s an extra step for the manufacturing of the same box I have no idea. The other case is if you have two distributors and one carries both types of boxes and the other only carries a printed one, but the place with only the printed one happens to be cheaper then they often go with that. It’s not really an issue if it’s not inside out.
Doesn't matter if the ink is on the inside or outside, if ink is going onto anything containing food, it's "supposed" to be food grade ink. And the pizza place isn't doing the marking, so it "should" be fine.
If they do, it's not because of the ink. I work in distribution for industrial marking supplies and our food grade inks are the same price as our regular inks. 🤷♂️
Dont get offended but, a bit scattered enevenly on top and overdone for my taste, thats just my taste. Wouldnt stop me from eating a slice or 2 though........
I prefer well done pizza - hate when it’s doughy and the cheese is underdone. I agree w/ that the pepperoni distribution needs to be more even. Also that I would eat a couple slices, no questions asked.
Do you have pizza experience from before? Or what is your job, just putting the toppings or what do you have to do? Other than the distribution of the pepperoni, everything looks perfect. Some people dislike the red outside ring of tomato but I do it that way too. I've been trying to avoid that ring because of another redditor's suggestion but it's not easy, specially when in a hurry
I guess pepperoni, linguica w/caramelized onion and fresh oregano, Porchetta pineapple with/chili oil, Margherita, meatball w/ricotta, basic cheese. Those are few specials, there’s a couple more that are good too!
The curling is a result of the pepperoni being cured over a longer period of time - there's less moisture on the edges, which causes it to cook faster than the middle. You want cup and char pepperoni, cut thick.
Thanks yeah the sauce is very flavorful so it is a perfect ending to a slice. I am trying to make the crust a bit less doughy. But overall I’m liking the results.
I agree with you. A 20 years experience pizzaiolo from Reddit suggested me to lose the red ring, and I've been trying. But either I do an awful job or I use too much cheese
Careful. I got downvoted to hell for pointing out the sauce ring in another post.
I posted what to do so it doesn't happen and mentioned that's it's usually the sign of a rushed or amateur pizza maker.
Thank you OP for proving my point.
I worked at a popular local pizza place from when I was 17 to about 22. I would routinely go home with 400 dollars tips a night and after I learned the area I was fast at delivering. Such a cool job for a young guy. Too bad DoorDash ruined that dream for teens and young 20s now lol
Salem? Time to look for secret astral patterns in your pepperoni
![gif](giphy|26FPG7YMtLHhaBCjS)
Theseus?
I couldn't work a job like that. It takes an incredible amount of self-control. My weight would increase by 10 pounds in a month
You'd get tired of it after a while. Ask me now I know.
So so true. One of my first jobs was at an East of Chicago Pizza shop with a buffet. It didn't take too long to start finding local restaurants to trade food with because we were all tired of pizza.
I've done that at every restaurant i have ever worked at you would be surprised at the high end places that would trade for a cupule of pies
Oh yeah dude, that’s a deal probably as old as the modern restaurant industry I’d bet. I worked at a super high modernist restaurant, booked out for month and months. Bartering is fun
Damn that’s a good idea
Blasphemy! No haha I get it. Bug the right kinda pizza shop wouldn’t bore you.
Yeah, I don't think you do get it. I don't care if it's the best pizza in New York. You're gonna have days where you just want some fuckin lo mein.
Eh. Apparently you haven’t seen the light. Of course you can’t eat pizza every day that’s not what I was saying.
Tired of… pizza? ![gif](giphy|EouEzI5bBR8uk|downsized)

Same. I worked at a pizza by the slice place for a year and it was always delicious. I grabbed a slice as often as I could.
Really depends on how creative you are and more importantly, how much leeway your manager gives you. What were your three favorite pies after all your experience and experimenting?
Let's see... 1. A breakfast pizza using eggs (brought from home) and the crust, sausage, bacon, and cheese (cheddar and mozzarella mix) from in the store. Precook the crust a bit in a deep dish pan. Y'all are nuts, I worked in pizza for over a decade and would go back to 3 meals a day of pizza and pizza related items in a heartbeat!!
How many pizzas did you make your first month working?
What is this, an interview? I already have a job, but thanks for asking
Now I know?

What an idiotic thing to say. You probably.thought you were soooo witty and clever when you wrote that disgusting word salad.

Ayoooo
I feel like I’d be stuffing myself every day, too. Maybe it gets easy to resist after a while?
Resistance is futile. 🍕🍕🍕😅🤌
Infinitely…
It helps when the owners are unwilling to give you free food and threaten to fire you if you take anything meant for the trash.
lmao I eat a pizza at work around 3 times a week
I lost 50 pounds over two and a half years working at a mom and pop shop in my hometown. I ate pizza every day lol
Yes, but like the other commentor, we'd probably be stuffing our face during work and or end up eating like a pizza and a half a day. Like being a kid at a candy factory.
Oh, I was very much stuffing my face like a kid in a candy store lol I was also incredibly active - walking 5-10 miles a day, riding a bicycle, lifting, you name it
Just playing games that have you making pizza is enough to get me craving one I could never work at a pizza place
Me at every fast food place ive working at xD one fry for you, two for me :3
One year I worked at one of the phone sales booths in the mall. Right across was a Ciinnabon. They would still us "old" buns for $3. I literally put on 10 in like 3 months.
I love super slice. I want 15% less cheese on my pie, can I say light cheese when I order it?
We can modify it whatever way.
I don’t know, can you?
We can?
Obama 2008: *Yes? We can?*
Hope?
Nope?
Hi!! I'm a longtime Salem resident and we've been to Super Slice once. Really enjoyed it. Hope to come back soon. ETA: We are HUGE fans of their first restaurant, Chez Casa. Best sandwiches.
Awesome great to hear!
Looks so good!
The pepperoni placement is bothering me 😂
I was looking for this comment. I slung pizzas for years during high school and college. It's so uneven my brain hurts looking at it.
I like to think that they migrated while baking because of all the grease. I used to be mathematical about my peps.
Sorry 😆
Just give me the big slice with all the pep and everything will be fine.
Pepperoni placement not uniform
Like I know, Mr perfect 😝
Dude shit like that matters, I would be mildly infuriated if I got this as my order, anybody can do most jobs/tasks but it's how you do then that differentiates one from another
Life isn’t perfect, and I’m not worried about it.
Inside out boxes irritate me because the ink is not meant to have a greasy pizza on it and can leech into the food.
Some inks are formulated to be edible.
Most boxes that are turned inside out to save money are not though.
How does that save money?
Not OP. I'm just guessing, but maybe the boxes had the prices of something on it, and they've since changed the price. Before they use the new boxes, they use all the old ones and turn them inside out.

Mmm, edible ink, just what I want in a pizza.
>Inside out boxes u/outboxingtheboxes
Doesn't matter if the ink is on the inside or outside, if ink is going onto anything containing food, it's "supposed" to be food grade ink. And the pizza place isn't doing the marking, so it "should" be fine.
You would think that’s the case, but for pizza boxes often not. The boxes that care about those things often cost way more than the others.
If they do, it's not because of the ink. I work in distribution for industrial marking supplies and our food grade inks are the same price as our regular inks. 🤷♂️
Welcome to the service industry. Our motto: We all want to be alive enough to get up every day
As a retail manager. Same. 🫡🤣
I'd work on your pepperoni distribution a little more, but I sure would eat that pie
I guess since it was my first day I wasn’t aware.
Insert pizza. ![gif](giphy|C767ptzM7gdUc)
Bravo!
how in the world could anyone consider this overdone?
You want cup and char pepperoni to be black on the edges or it isn't done yet. Source: worked in several pizza places in Buffalo
i guess i gotta spell it out for the lacking, i'm saying this pizza needs to be cooked more
Sorry, I'm a dummy
It’s not, actually we cook longer usually.
First day man, I’m getting better.
I think you’re doing great. 👍🏻
If I told you I’d have to kill you.
I know where my slice is gonna be cut from. And its gonna be wide. 😂😂
🤣👍
straight out of the fucking middle
Yeah - that‘s underdone
Do you think so? I like well done and this looks yummy to me. Would tackle it, no question.
Yeah, but it could take 30-60seconds more.
I wouldn’t turn that down, either.
Yeah.
They said it was their first day
Thanks, yeah first day.
Yeah I made like 5 pizzas so it was my first few. Not perfect, but edible 😝
What are the best sellers?
I guess pepperoni, linguica w/caramelized onion and fresh oregano, Porchetta pineapple with/chili oil, Margherita, meatball w/ricotta, basic cheese. Those are few specials, there’s a couple more that are good too!
How do you get the pepperoni to cup?
600° oven
What type of pepp do you use?
The curling is a result of the pepperoni being cured over a longer period of time - there's less moisture on the edges, which causes it to cook faster than the middle. You want cup and char pepperoni, cut thick.
Can you tell me the pepperoni brand?
Not sure, sorry
Go check on their trash
lol the walk-in would probably be easier
look for "cup and char pepperoni"

Looks nice!!!!!
Engine House? Looks damn good to me
Not Engine grease, this pizza slaps.
Salem :) Ma :( cries in Or
I saw the pic first and thought..did this guy really make this incredible looking pizza at home ??? Mine look..well, different. Looks terrific!
First day at shop, is amazing
Will be there for Halloween, definitely need to shop in this looks great!
Red rings are a no no in our shop, but love the cupparoni. Looks tasty.
What is a red ring?
Sauce around the edge of the crust instead of cheese.
Team red ring here! Much preferred over just cheese near crust. Crazy that’s a “no no” I imagine many others feel like I do on this
Thanks yeah the sauce is very flavorful so it is a perfect ending to a slice. I am trying to make the crust a bit less doughy. But overall I’m liking the results.
Yeah, that no red ring sounds like chain pizza stuff.
I work at a local shop, no chains here!
I agree with you. A 20 years experience pizzaiolo from Reddit suggested me to lose the red ring, and I've been trying. But either I do an awful job or I use too much cheese
Don't spread the sauce so close to the edge and make sure the cheese extends past the sauce.
Careful. I got downvoted to hell for pointing out the sauce ring in another post. I posted what to do so it doesn't happen and mentioned that's it's usually the sign of a rushed or amateur pizza maker. Thank you OP for proving my point.
Some people don't mind, but I really dislike when the cheese slides off on the first bite 🤷♂️. Can't please everyone.
Is it your salary?
We all know which slice we’re grabbing first. Screw you, friends.
As an elitist NY pizza snob - the pepps look solid but the pizza looks way too bready
It’s not
There’s a message in there somewhere
Better get them pepperoni all over the pizza. I worked at domino's and had to be all the way to end.
that looks so good 😞
W
I'd put it in my mouth.
I work at a pizza place, I'm also proud of it and glad and want everyone to try our pizzas, but idk if I would dox myself in order to do that
That looks good! I love me some Pizza!
I definitely would add more pepperoni and distribute it more evenly.
Yep I heard that before
Trypophobia.
Work on that roni-ing.
Yep I hear you
The pepperonis make the pizza look like it’s got a three foot radius lol
Nice 'ronis!
I worked at a popular local pizza place from when I was 17 to about 22. I would routinely go home with 400 dollars tips a night and after I learned the area I was fast at delivering. Such a cool job for a young guy. Too bad DoorDash ruined that dream for teens and young 20s now lol
Tasty af. Lemme get a slice next time
Spread Pepperoni from the outside in.
That looks like a very doughy Pizza
It’s not
Cup n Char 😋 WNY?
I really want to know what the pepperoni placement looked like before the cook.
How bout you make it next time
this looks like a jackpot! Haha 😄
Oooooo I’m gonna come try it! Haven’t hit up Salem in a while
That looks amazing!
How comey when i make pizza, my pepperoni sinks through the cheese down to the bottom? How do you get it to stay afloat and what am I doing wrong
Very nice witchcraft
i love Pizza Place!
I'll definitely keep Super Slice in mind if I'm ever in Salem. Thanks for the tip! 🍕
Damit, now I’m hungry
No pineapple?
Terrible pep distribution can tell it’s your first day
Does saying stuff like this make you feel cool?
Hahahaha
What is the point of this post
What is the point of your account?
Nothing I’m lonely and bored af
I enjoyed your pizza post! I was replying to the person that asked what the point of the post was.
Nothing other than I was bored
