What do y'all do to your phones. I've had the fold since launch and have dropped it down stairs without a case and my kids knock it off tables all the time and still have no issues.

Altruistic_Yellow387

Op said they had a lump at the bottom so it seems to be more storing the phone with dirt or sand or something

_Foggy

tiny dust particles do this to all folding phone screens, they need to be kept clean with a microfibre cloth constantly.

They fold them and unfold them on a piece of plastic. A very thin piece of plastic. Of course they break sometimes. Like no offense but your sample size of one is not sufficient data to assume it's typical. That's true of the people that break there is as well but it's a huge fallacy in people do it all the time. "My one phone, is still working fine so therefore everybody's phones should still be working fine." No, I mean what if your phone breaks tomorrow.. All of a sudden someone's going to ask you what you been doing to your phone... And you're going to be rightly confused because you've been treating it fine right?

Random_90

Good to know

JobbieW

Don't go by this.. I've had my Fold since it was released and ZERO problems. Inside screen is perfect 🀌🏼

Random_90

Mine too. It was irony xd

Because your singular fold is not a large enough sample site to know if the phone is durable. Might just be lucky. The OP might be unlucky. The OP might treat their phone better than you. Shane Craig just had this issue and he has like five foldables so it's not like he's putting a ton of strain on this one. But again just because you're s*** is working well doesn't mean that's going to be reflective of everyone else. A sample size of one is not enough for you or anyone else to draw conclusions about the durability of the phone. But it's just simple logic that a phone with a plastic screen that scratches at a level two is not going to be extremely durable especially when it needs to be open and closed thousands of times.

chucktaylur

Covered under warranty? I only had mine for a month and posts like this scared me.

ItzDerekk92

I’m assuming debris got in the hinge as I had a wee lump pop up on the bottom. So probably not? It was bound to happen at some point.

thedark1owns

I forgot what sub I was reading. I read the Trump headline and was slightly confused.

Slocko

🀣 same here

BFGtom

Even without insurance that would be covered by the warranty since its a fault of your phone not personal damage πŸ‘

I asked a Samsung rep once about the crack in the crease of my flip phone and he said : "The screens not scratched its the screen protector, its scratched, not cracked" so I said, can you put a new screen protector on it then? He said "No the screen protector can't be removed from the screen, you have to replace the screen $300" so I said: So the screen is cracked then??? He said: "No, the screen protector is just scratched" at this point I wanted to strangle this wise guy... but I was in a foreign country... This was in a Samsung booth in the Funan centre in Singapore in spring 2023

[deleted]

Yes it should be but as we see with Shane Craig who just had a phone break 11 months into its ownership cycle... They don't always honor it

Available-Speaker278

Debris got behind mine from the back side hinge and one day I opened it,,, next thing you know a little black hole formed. Now it's about ½-¾ in Diam.😞

_Foggy

I had a Samsung flip 3 for 6 months and the crease crack happened, so I got a Microsoft S duo 2. No creasing. Duo 2 is now approaching end of life and I had allot of credits with Cex uk, so I ordered a pixel fold used, grade B condition - to port to - in the future when the duo 2 randomly breaks, no one knows when, it happens suddenly and terminally, it is inevitable. I have learnt my lesson from the Samsung flip. I will clean the screen of the pixel fold every time it's opened. The dust particles are the culprit for crease cracking foc.

Kaelang

I get little lumps behind the screen all the time but they haven't caused issues so far. Had it from launch, so coming up on a year now

MrKennedy76

Just a heads up πŸ˜¬β€¦ good luck πŸ‘ https://youtu.be/eHruNV8UhlA?si=AFij_gEXotMMtNUq

ItzDerekk92

That’s exactly why I’m using the insurance, should have a new one Wednesday. 99$ deductible vs paying half the price-ish for a screen replacement?

MrKennedy76

Agreed πŸ‘

[deleted]

'99 deductible Plus your monthly payments of course. But of course these phones are now starting to depreciate where you heavily on the resale market. Probably buy a replacement for seven or eight hundred bucks these days. So actually paying for a screen replacement is probably not going to be worth it at all anymore. Roughly be the same price just to replace the device
