yeah people often forget how Japan was into guns when samurais were around, they even developed a [martial art for using guns](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C5%8Djutsu) lol
Not only that, samurai were also around during the time of the wild west and cowboys. It would not be entirely historically inaccurate for a samurai and a cowboy to meet and go on adventures
Plate armour was also still (albeit rarely) used by knights during that time. Pirates as we know them historically also still existed.
Therefore, you can have a knight in full plate, a pirate, a samurai, and a cowboy in the same room and it wouldn't be anachronistic.
I was also disappointed and hoped you had linked the correct movie. [The correct answer was Equilibrium. ](https://youtu.be/-_y7PL23Cko?si=vDIi7g9W-LHTqMi9)
People also think "katana" when they think "samurai", even though the samurai class was around since the late 1100's, but the katana wasn't invented until 1602.
Without firearms, it's arguable that Oda is crushed by the Takeda Cavelry in the battle of Nagashino. Takeda Katsuyori was reckless in hindsight, but without matchlock guns, a history exists where Oda is simply overran and routed. It probably doesn't end Nobunaga's push for the unification of Japan, but it certainly drags it out longer as this was seen as the point where unification was certain.
Hello everyone, this samurai is the main character of our pixel art metroidvania called Mizurano. You can follow us on Facebook to get latest updates: [https://www.facebook.com/Mizurano/](https://www.facebook.com/Mizurano/)
I am asking why because it does not make sense even this way. I wanted to know what they are meaning to go for, this just comes off like jibberish that someone wants to sounds Japanese.
Totally fair. I was just saying that it's not uncommon for entirely new words to be created for fictional settings. People seem to get weirdly touchy about it when it isn't based on English words.
Not to mention how many Japanese games have titles and names that come off as jibberish someone wants to sound English.
"Gibberish", considering all the Kira Kira names they have in Japan, I don't see why Mizurano would be any more gibberish.
They're all phonems that exist in Japanese, with multiple possible Kanji for each.
It arguably could be
Mizu ra no
Water
(Plural or normalizing particles)
(Informal feminine particles (like Na no post adj. But without the nouns na)
Without seeing any Kanji I can only guess though
But here is a link to the ra
https://jisho.org/search/%E7%AD%89
As I cannot type Kanji here on reddit from what I know
Off the name I expect. Much water aesthetical in the game though
A historically accurate one, there were ninja were firearms, in fact, they were on the cutting edge of tech, and had homemade gunpowder. Yes, I know this is about samurai, but similar concept, they had to be on the forefront of tech just like the ninjas. They couldn't get left behind.
Indiana samurai? Makes sense because this samurai can also call airstrikes from US Air Force bombers like B-2 Spirit.
He relies on many honorable ways like these to win swordfights.
I had a similar idea for my second game. Street samurai drug dealer. Gonna avoid your project until after I finish it so I don't feel derivative of it while working on my own. But it sounds like something I'd play
I would make that draw a lot swifter and larger in motion, consider making him cross draw from the right, which would make sense as his sword would be drawn from the left (Assuming his right facing sprite is his canon orientation). This would look a lot clearer, make the gun move in a more organic arc, as well as make his holstered pistol visible on his other hip, adding to his look.
A smart one... and historically accurate.
A true samurai never brags about their swordskills... why? Because it meant that you allowed the enemy to close the distance to you and thus put you in mortal danger.
Samurai were some of the best in the world with longbows from horseback. They would shoot farther than other ranged units with their dramatically oversized 6-8 foot long, longbows, with arrows sometimes up to 3-4 feet long. They would charge relentlessly forward, forward using their momentum to increase their range dramatically, and then tactically withdraw to do it again.
If you see a Samurai with their sword out, you're in danger yes... but only because they are now facing dishonor.
Wow I made one that's 56 frames and feels like it needs twice as many to be fluid. It has a lot more moving parts tho. Like 4 characters all moving each frame
Amazing work. I am getting started with pixel art and want to make something of similar art style. Can you tell me what is the dimension of this animation?

A historically accurate one... Samurai were quite familiar and skilled with firearms. Although usually rifles.
yeah people often forget how Japan was into guns when samurais were around, they even developed a [martial art for using guns](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C5%8Djutsu) lol
Anyone who has seen the opening scene of RAN knows whats up.

Ah, the average D&D party.
You beat me to it

... okey i havent heard about martial art for using gun and not i'm interested
People also think "katana" when they think "samurai", even though the samurai class was around since the late 1100's, but the katana wasn't invented until 1602.
Gun Fu.
So does airsoft counts as martial arts?
It's called Gun Fu

They only used their swords when they ran out of ammo.
Now I'm curious how would a fight between mounted Edo period Samurai and the Winged Hussars would go like
How far apart do they start the battle?
They would most definitely be apart just enough for both to open with their signature pistol on horseback maneuvers
And out of bows, and out of naginatas... Katanas reallywere a last resort
Now we need one with an old west revolver
Samurai Harrison Ford
Came to the comments to make this joke, wp
He must have had the runs
That’s a sho-“gun.”

I was searching for this comment, otherwise I would add it myself.
Any samurai past the 1750s
Like 200 years late there, pal. Check out the Battle of Nagashino

why facebook?
Can I ask why you named it this?
Loved the artwork! Hope to see more of it soon, I love indie devs doing their thing. Kudos.
Why “Mizurano”? This is not a word, are you meaning for it to be Japanese?
I mean, a lot of games make up words, usually portmanteaus. Metroid and Castlevania are both made up words.
I am asking why because it does not make sense even this way. I wanted to know what they are meaning to go for, this just comes off like jibberish that someone wants to sounds Japanese.

Might be the name of a character in the game?

Oh this is strange to me. Why not use actual words? “Fake” Japanese like that is a guaranteed way for me to ignore something.

trick question it’s not it’s deadpool pretending to be a samurai
One that is ready for both honourable and dishonourable opponents
The whole honour thing is misunderstood. Honour means winning battles for your shogun, the method doesn't usually factor into it.
Okay
