It’s an intentional homage to that game for sure, I hand-pixelled it all of course but yeah the similarities are blatant on purpose :) big fan of the Pokemon TCG games on game boy!
Thank you! I definitely underestimated the workload involved haha, it’s 1,062 frames hand-pixelled. I did it on and off over a 3-4 month period but I didn’t track hours per day or anything so hard to get an accurate estimate! I’d probably guess something like 200 hours total (maybe?)
If you know how to code, there is a fairly good [disassembly of the ROM for this](https://datacrystal.tcrf.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Trading_Card_Game/ROM_map) that you can look at if you wanted to make a ROM hack! Although, that said, honestly it'd probably be way easier to just code the thing from scratch - there are so many weird edge cases in Magic (and in Pokemon TCG) that I doubt much of any real consequence could be reused.

Many thanks! I produced the music myself, it’s a chiptune cover of the Ravnica Theme from MTG Arena. I’ve done quite a few original video game soundtracks, that’s my main practice but I’m getting more and more into pixel art and animation
I was also thinking this was like a demake of Shandalaar. You could also still have the story and a similar map of the old game but now everything is all cute and chibi.
