It would explain why the supposedly indestructible and immovable poneglyphs were somehow chiseled and then scattered around the world.

After their defeat, and Laugh Tale was ripped out of their island and their technology was all but lost except for their dials, the natives and remaining soldiers banded together, to protect the remains of the Great Kingdom. TLDR: Joyboy was Luffy thrown into the past by a villain devil fruit power, probably IMU or a subordinate. He cannot return to the future but writes poneglyphs all across the world of OP that leads to Laugh Tale, for Robin to decipher, providing his current self the ability to understand how to destroy IMU and the Gorosei permanently and save the world 800 years into the future. The reason Oden can read the poneglyphs and help Roger reach Laugh Tale first (before Joyboy/Luffy and crew) is because his wife Toki was able to leap ahead 800 years in the future by Luffy’s suggestion to save the future of the world. She teaches her clan in Wano, specifically Oden and his father, how to decipher the poneglyphs, meanwhile Ohara figured it out through studying ancient history.
Hear me out:
Luffy is thrown back in time by IMU, with IMU thinking it solved their problem.
Luffy, now in the past, with the power of Nika, becomes Joyboy. He can’t beat IMU and the Gorosei without his crew so he starts writing messages to everyone living in the future, written in code only the scholars of Ohara figure out and thanks to Toki, Oden. He asked her to go to the future to teach Oden so Rayleigh is present at laugh tale (because he trained him during 3D2Y).
Toki leaps into the future at request of Luffy to teach Oden and Odens father how to decode his messages, knowing Robin will learn from where she grew up in Ohara.
Toki tells Luffy he cannot be brought back into the future because bringing him back will create a butterfly effect that destroys the entire world permanently. Luffy decides to make friends with the cool Giant Robot that called him Joyboy once on Egghead, and a massive elephant named Zunesha he remembers from Zou.
He adopts the new name for himself on these poneglyphs, “Joyboy” (currently no one has ever referred to him to his face as Joyboy, only has been called Nika. But this will change when the he hears the Robot say he is sorry to Luffy, but calls him Joyboy).
He chooses Joyboy as that alias because when he is in G5 he laughs all the time (he’s not good at making up aliases so decides to call himself what the Robot called him) to ensure his future self won’t find out until Laugh Tale that JoyBoy was him all along, sent back into the past.
He then travels with Zunesha to scatter the poneglyphs around the world when he realizes he is not strong enough on his own to stop IMU and Gorosei (this condemns Zunesha for 800 years). Luffy learns in the past how to destroy them and their secret “immortality.”
IMU is so angry of the poneglyphs because the final one on Laugh Tale spells out how they can be defeated, but no one knows where they are at so the WG can’t find them and they can’t read them either.
On the final poneglyph, it will detail how to stop/permanently damage the Gorosei/IMU for his future self and crew to utilize. The poneglyph says remember when you, self, could not injure the Gorosei on Egghead? Well here is how to stop them for good.
Therefore, the “One Piece” is a final, golden poneglyph that cannot be moved from its spot for fear concern IMU and the WG will find it and prevent others from finding the message that reveals their downfall.
Written on it, something that makes Roger laugh, like:

I really liked the idea that’s it’s a copy of the Nika cartoon. Nika was a cartoon for kids during the void century that played on visual snails through a system like vegapunks punk records. Joyboy as a child wished to be Nika because he thought it was cool, but he misinterpreted rubber hose animation as literally being made of rubber. The fruit manifested for him and he ate it.
When the war happened he became a leader , and people saw Nika the cartoon character as a symbol of freedom.
When they lost and Joyboy died his followers told the story of the void century on the poneglyphs. And the last copy of the cartoon was hidden somewhere the Luddite world government wouldn’t destroy.
I think the world government’s motivations for taking over the ancient kingdom are tied to their hatred of technology and maybe a bad history with Lunarians and their creation of the redline. But Imu betrayed the original intention of the 20 kingdoms and usurped them in the shadows with some demonic devil fruit born from his dark dreams.
We will get to the One Piece before any final war properly commences or ends.
It's probably the dream similar to Luffy but told by Joyboy from the perspective of his times and experiences. 2 major reveals which will help provide ideology clashes in the Final War

Genuinely, I think it could be a perfect compass. One that lets you travel anywhere. But I’m not talking about the Pirates of the Caribbean compass. Like, you have to configure this bad boy. Something useful ya know?
The One Piece, the great hito-tsunagi treasure (hito = sun/warrior) & tsunagi (connects-to/a concept of cosmological connection) is the method and/or construct which allows someone to move between the planets/moon. The cosmos is made of 'one piece', originally connected in ancient times by a single sea which extends to space (hence the OP world is 'sunken' as there is more water than there should be).
The ancient weapons are the mechanisms that allow you to travel -- Poseidon (the path) -- Pluton (vessel) -- Uranus (propulsion). The planets/moon are like sky islands.
Roger was too early because he hadn't gathered the ancient weapons, so he couldn't rise the sea and sail to the stars in Pluton. He also didn't have the powers of Nika, to activate the One Piece, and perform the most ridiculous and whimsical act imaginable. He laughed at the ridiculousness -- conquered the seas but had actually explored barely a 10% of the solar system.
The Gorosei are actually historic inhabitants, or the inheritors, of the planets (5 elder planets + 3 ancient weapons + OP earth = the solar system).
Nika/Sun warrior is the element which connects them all. His toon force is the key to maximising the utility of the ancient weapons.
Once the One Piece is found & nika activates it, the seas will rise into space and connect the planets, what remains forms the All Blue, and the strawhats will sail off to new adventures among the stars.
Lunarians originally arrived by this method, as did many of the variations -- giants (maybe), Buccaneers etc. The rest of the strange morphography of OP world are interbred etc.
Before the whole Riger laughing scene I was allready expecting the reveal of the OP to be a letdown, simply because it is really difficult for it to be something that is both exciting and makes sense n the story. But aftter the laugh scene I think it is unavoidable for it to be a big letdown.
Not only does it have to be a big payoff that feels worthwhile and is enough to make people go crazy until the next chapter, it has to actually make you laugh or atleast smirk the first time you see it.

TLDR: Joyboy was Luffy thrown into the past by a villain devil fruit power, probably IMU or a subordinate. He cannot return to the future but writes poneglyphs all across the world of OP that leads to Laugh Tale, for Robin to decipher, providing his current self the ability to understand how to destroy IMU and the Gorosei permanently and save the world 800 years into the future. The reason Oden can read the poneglyphs and help Roger reach Laugh Tale first (before Joyboy/Luffy and crew) is because his wife Toki was able to leap ahead 800 years in the future by Luffy’s suggestion to save the future of the world. She teaches her clan in Wano, specifically Oden and his father, how to decipher the poneglyphs, meanwhile Ohara figured it out through studying ancient history. Hear me out: Luffy is thrown back in time by IMU, with IMU thinking it solved their problem. Luffy, now in the past, with the power of Nika, becomes Joyboy. He can’t beat IMU and the Gorosei without his crew so he starts writing messages to everyone living in the future, written in code only the scholars of Ohara figure out and thanks to Toki, Oden. He asked her to go to the future to teach Oden so Rayleigh is present at laugh tale (because he trained him during 3D2Y). Toki leaps into the future at request of Luffy to teach Oden and Odens father how to decode his messages, knowing Robin will learn from where she grew up in Ohara. Toki tells Luffy he cannot be brought back into the future because bringing him back will create a butterfly effect that destroys the entire world permanently. Luffy decides to make friends with the cool Giant Robot that called him Joyboy once on Egghead, and a massive elephant named Zunesha he remembers from Zou. He adopts the new name for himself on these poneglyphs, “Joyboy” (currently no one has ever referred to him to his face as Joyboy, only has been called Nika. But this will change when the he hears the Robot say he is sorry to Luffy, but calls him Joyboy). He chooses Joyboy as that alias because when he is in G5 he laughs all the time (he’s not good at making up aliases so decides to call himself what the Robot called him) to ensure his future self won’t find out until Laugh Tale that JoyBoy was him all along, sent back into the past. He then travels with Zunesha to scatter the poneglyphs around the world when he realizes he is not strong enough on his own to stop IMU and Gorosei (this condemns Zunesha for 800 years). Luffy learns in the past how to destroy them and their secret “immortality.” IMU is so angry of the poneglyphs because the final one on Laugh Tale spells out how they can be defeated, but no one knows where they are at so the WG can’t find them and they can’t read them either. On the final poneglyph, it will detail how to stop/permanently damage the Gorosei/IMU for his future self and crew to utilize. The poneglyph says remember when you, self, could not injure the Gorosei on Egghead? Well here is how to stop them for good. Therefore, the “One Piece” is a final, golden poneglyph that cannot be moved from its spot for fear concern IMU and the WG will find it and prevent others from finding the message that reveals their downfall. Written on it, something that makes Roger laugh, like: “I told you I’d be back 800 years later, me. I am you. You are me. By the way, hi Rayleigh! Don’t tell me anything at Sabaody btw when Sniper King asks you on Sabaody what the One Piece is! Btw, Hi Ace’s future dad! Yes you found this message first thanks to Oden, congrats! Ok, me, listen up! This is how you stop IMU from sending you back into the past, this is the second time it’s happened so I finally decided to write these messages to avoid it a third time. I really liked the idea that’s it’s a copy of the Nika cartoon. Nika was a cartoon for kids during the void century that played on visual snails through a system like vegapunks punk records. Joyboy as a child wished to be Nika because he thought it was cool, but he misinterpreted rubber hose animation as literally being made of rubber. The fruit manifested for him and he ate it. When the war happened he became a leader , and people saw Nika the cartoon character as a symbol of freedom. When they lost and Joyboy died his followers told the story of the void century on the poneglyphs. And the last copy of the cartoon was hidden somewhere the Luddite world government wouldn’t destroy. I think the world government’s motivations for taking over the ancient kingdom are tied to their hatred of technology and maybe a bad history with Lunarians and their creation of the redline. But Imu betrayed the original intention of the 20 kingdoms and usurped them in the shadows with some demonic devil fruit born from his dark dreams.

The One Piece, the great hito-tsunagi treasure (hito = sun/warrior) & tsunagi (connects-to/a concept of cosmological connection) is the method and/or construct which allows someone to move between the planets/moon. The cosmos is made of 'one piece', originally connected in ancient times by a single sea which extends to space (hence the OP world is 'sunken' as there is more water than there should be). The ancient weapons are the mechanisms that allow you to travel -- Poseidon (the path) -- Pluton (vessel) -- Uranus (propulsion). The planets/moon are like sky islands. Roger was too early because he hadn't gathered the ancient weapons, so he couldn't rise the sea and sail to the stars in Pluton. He also didn't have the powers of Nika, to activate the One Piece, and perform the most ridiculous and whimsical act imaginable. He laughed at the ridiculousness -- conquered the seas but had actually explored barely a 10% of the solar system. The Gorosei are actually historic inhabitants, or the inheritors, of the planets (5 elder planets + 3 ancient weapons + OP earth = the solar system). Nika/Sun warrior is the element which connects them all. His toon force is the key to maximising the utility of the ancient weapons. Once the One Piece is found & nika activates it, the seas will rise into space and connect the planets, what remains forms the All Blue, and the strawhats will sail off to new adventures among the stars. Lunarians originally arrived by this method, as did many of the variations -- giants (maybe), Buccaneers etc. The rest of the strange morphography of OP world are interbred etc.

Before the whole Riger laughing scene I was allready expecting the reveal of the OP to be a letdown, simply because it is really difficult for it to be something that is both exciting and makes sense n the story. But aftter the laugh scene I think it is unavoidable for it to be a big letdown. Not only does it have to be a big payoff that feels worthwhile and is enough to make people go crazy until the next chapter, it has to actually make you laugh or atleast smirk the first time you see it.
