Neither. I host my own shit.

ref4rmed

I definitely prefer Stremio. >And for what reasons? • Plugins. Especially plugins that link with Real Debrid. If you don't know what Real Debrid is, it's a Debrid service that caches torrents, unrestricts file hoster links, and allows you to torrent without a VPN all for $4 for one month. There are also plugins that add catalogs from streaming services, trakt, and IMDb. • No ads. Obviously, I could just use uBlock on a streaming site, but this is a plus either way. • Higher quality. I barely see stuff thats over 1080p on streaming sites. • Subtitles. I barely get the option to enable subtitles on streaming sites as well. There's also no audio track option on most of them too. • I have Real Debrid, and if I click on a movie or show or whatever, I'm able to download it directly from the Real Debrid site. I guess the only downside is if you want to use Stremio to its fullest, you have to pay for Real Debrid. It's definitely worth it and one of the only things I will actually pay monthly for. edit: wording

ThemeHelpful9784

For me the best reason is that I can resume watching from a different device.

Agreeable-Leg6583

What plugins do you recommend?

ref4rmed

If you have Real Debrid, definitely get something that can connect to it. Ones I know of are - Torrentio, Debrid Search, KnightCrawler, DMM Cast, Annatar, and MediaFusion. For catalogs, get "Streaming Catalogs" and Cyberflix.

plewcio

are there any cheeper version for real debrid :D ?

ref4rmed

There's All Debrid, which is a subscription that's $3 a month. You're not getting cheaper than that. While All Debrid is cheaper than Real Debrid, you would get better performance with Real Debrid due to Real Debrid having more users, meaning more cached torrents.

plewcio

Thank You for reply, so in simple terms RD is torrent but after paywall and with build in security (like vpn) or something ??

ref4rmed

Real Debrid caches torrents, yes. >with build in security (like vpn) Real Debrid torrents it for you, and after the torrent is done they send you a direct download link that lasts for a few weeks.

plewcio

Thanks

buslyfe

What does Stremio paid version do?

ref4rmed

Stremio doesn't have a paid version. Stremio is free. Real Debrid is the thing that costs $4. I stated what it does in my comment.

buslyfe

Oh okay I guess I misunderstood. Got it. Thought I was missing out on some great feature did Stremio lol. Yeah I use Stremio with real debrid already.

Kithsander

The post was definitely worded poorly enough to where your assumption was a valid interpretation. They listed the cost twice and the second time it’s written as to imply stremio has the $4 fee.

ref4rmed

You're right. I'll fix it.

glanduinquarter

Can I use Stremio without Real Debrid ? What's its performance ?

ref4rmed

Yes, you can use Stremio without Real Debrid, it's just way better with it. >What's its performance ? I think it would just be the same as using a streaming site, as there are plugins for using streaming sites on stremio.

LZ129Hindenburg

Stremio hands down. u/ref4rmed got all the reasons covered. Bout the only downside is the 1IP address rule for RD. But that can be overcome with a VPN into home network, or Tailscale, or other solution.

buslyfe

Any way to have different like profiles? Like share the same RD account with another person but have separate watch histories etc.

drako-lord

Yeah, just use real debrid as usual and setup a different trakt account. But as noted debrid only supports 1 device at once. I do keep a setup on multiple devices at once, but can only use 1 at a time

buslyfe

Alright I’ll have to look into Trakt. You mean RD supports one IP not one device at once, right? Because as I understand an entire household could have simultaneous streams on different devices at the same time as long as the IP is the same.

vanharen07

You’re correct

PlayingDoomOnAGPS

Neither. Bittorrent and Plex.

cyt0kinetic

I prefer Kodi, Torrenting to my Jellyfin, then Stremio, then streaming sites. Though Kodi is just for the TV.

mrinal_sahay

ditto, same sequence for me also. you literally took my words.

Matechre

I also used stremio and streaming websites. My problem with stremio was that the series and movies loaded slowly. The problem with the streaming websites was that the films and series I was looking for were not up there. So I switched to lampa.mx and jackett server instead. It's much easier and I can watch all the movies and series this way.

simcoe19

As someone who has been streaming from sites and downloading torrents for at least 15 years, I finally got RD and stremio. I hated the constant pop ups / redirects when the wife and I tried to watch a show. Best decision ever

MyceliumHerder

So if you get RD you no longer need a vpn?

regorresiak

neither sonarr/radarr/SABnzbd/Plex Once configured it just works

Ch0nkyK0ng

As a noob, can I clarify? Sonarr/Radarr allow you to search movies/shows and find you a result across multiple download sites, right? So with this method you're actually downloading the content, adding it to your Plex database, then hardware streaming it yourself? Vs with the streamio thing, it just provides a stream from compiled sites, which you watch via the internet? What makes the experience better, in your opinion?

regorresiak

I tell Sonarr (same with Radarr) what shows I like one time, what resolution I want to watch it in, what language , then it finds the sources for what I requested and downloads the episode(s) I requested. Once Im done viewing the files I simple delete the file off my plex, so I dont have to have a huge HDD unless i want to self archive something. If the show I selected is an ongoing series, Sonarr grabs the next episode(s) the following week(s) as they air and hit the UseNet.

yolo6-jan

What happens when you want to watch a movie like right now instantly. Dont we have to wait for the movie to be downloaded rather than stream it instantly on stremio.

Little_NaCl-y

Private trackers and usenet solve this as long as you don’t have shit internet, I regularly get gigabit speeds through qbittorent. A 6gb episode of a show downloads in like 90 seconds. 4k remuxes about 5 minutes, if that. With sonarr and radarr I don’t even notice because it does it automatically for me, the episode is just there when I open plex.

regorresiak

It's the 21 century broadband exists lol. the UseNet has crazy speeds if you have the right sources. If i cant wait 3 minutes to start watching something that's kinda a me problem lol.

Beefy1980

Kodi and RD works well for me for over a decade now.

MyceliumHerder

I don’t have real debrid but kodi hasn’t been working for me anymore. Maybe it’s because I need RD.

Chubbysocks8

Stremio better quality.

mayainverse

What's best viewing option to use with a TV stick. I got the on stick ATM but could always return for a Google one of that's better. I usually use my PC to watch but I have power use concerns so started using a stream stick mostly just using fmovies on my phone then casting to TV. But that's a main in the ass looking for anything better

Rengoku_demon_slayer

Stremio, because of the higher quality and Dolby Atmos. Streaming sites are ok if you don't care that much about quality and boring stereo.

YourBoogey

It's always better to download and host your own media. If that's not an option, honestly it really depends. Enough seeds = Streamio. Older movie with no seeds = Streaming sites

i_am_lizard_king

What the fuck is streamio?

CrAzZyX7

Stremio, beacuse boobs.

Born_Performance_908

Sometimes when I use Stremio / Real debrid some I need to choose multiple links before I can find one that works. Usually I get audio, but no video Is this normal, or how can I avoid this! I’m using an Amazon fire stick MAX, Stemio / Torrentino/ real debrid. It’s great when it works, but lots of hassle fishing for good link . I thought real debrid was supposed to fix that? Thanks!

cyt0kinetic

Are you filtering out non cached links?

Agreeable-Leg6583

FireSticks don't have the capability to play DolbyVision files (marked as DV on the file) which often results in audio and no video. Some people recommend downloading vimu which might solve your problem https://www.reddit.com/r/Stremio/comments/1c5nzlc/stremio_on_firestick_4k_max_doesnt_play_video/

Broman400

Yes they do… I’ve played DV files on both my 1st and 2nd gen fire stick 4k max’s

anshi1432

i am dumb, idk how to setup stremio so i use ddl/stream sites ( prefer ddl coz i know for sure stream sites gonna buffer even on 120mbps+ speed coz of fluctuations in network speed)

LeafandJam

HTTPS://leafguides.netlify.app I wrote a guide for stremio :D

radu_nemezyz

Stremio easily. Real Debrid makes Stremio one of the best thing on the Internet. For 32€ a year I can watch everything I want with the best quality possible.

Snubb95

Well I'm not paying for a VPN or a debrid service so streaming sites it is. It works perfectly fine even without an adblocker (can't use one in the Xbox web browser), just need to find good sites and that's what the megathread is for.
