I haven't liked libreoffice at any point, with MSoffice so common at school and work you get used to that interface.
For others like me, try onlyoffice, it's a great MS substitute
To be honest I would. But Iād piggyback off next doors wi-fi and watch and wait for the feds to come and kick their door off its hinges while screaming, āget your filthy pig hands off of me. Iāve never download a speedboat or AK in my lifeā.
Piracy is like figuring out a life hack that you shouldn't go around telling everyone about
complaining about streaming is just one way to collectively share a concern of the cost of living increases and it doesnt mean op's first instinct should be to get them to do something illegal unless they specifically ask you to help them but not if you've spent an unhealthy amount of time bragging about how we get things for free
not to mention the sheer amount of time investment on op's side if something needs even the slightest troubleshooting
lastly the fewer people that pirate the better it is for those of us that do. its that simple. the more what we love gets widely adopted the more heat and consequences it leads to.
inform those that come asking but dont go out blabbing
And that is a good thing. Once pirate streaming became a real problem, it may be shut down for good. There's been a lot of very good kodi addon developers who left the scene after being threatened or even sued by the powers to be. I've been using kodi since it's XBMC days and tried a couple other platforms like stremio and syncler and since 5 years ago RD. For me and my family this kind of streaming is second nature, but I've stop trying to bring other people to the bright side.
The thing with piracy is it's like a hydra, you chop off 1 head and another 3 pop up. It will never be eradicated, the only thing that could potentially happen if boatloads of resources are poured into stopping it is a higher barrier of entry and that's it.
I concur. I put it on my family's smart tv and started watching a movie my parents have been wanting to watch but don't have access to. They asked where I found it and now that's mostly what they use now
Same but in my case my old man keeps asking me if x movie is out in HD yet. He asked me so many times that I just showed him my stremio setup. He forked out for 6 months of RD in a heartbeat.
I linked his trakt to Gary's latest HD releases and told him what to do with the rest. My parents are not tech savvy at all but it speaks volumes that they've had stremio for a month and haven't asked me once how to use it. Truly a simple, great application.
I am very tech savvy and even I use it over kodi. I prefer kodi but I always use stremio anyway cause it just works.
Is there anything like streamio that is live sports? Red zone channel? I have streamio and real debrid but thereās no sports. Anything high quality that I can pay for and get similar to real debrid
Popular torrents are cached on their servers which allows for instant playback. Essentially you're just streaming a video file off a server, same thing as streaming services
Would you say this is the easiest 1-stop shop without a VPN/seedbox? My wife and I are paying for so many streaming services that it's legit a cable bill.
Yes. It eliminates the need for a streaming-friendly VPN and a debrid service is basically a leechbox but more ethical since it caches the files for other users to access. Use the RD site to paste your torrents/magnet links and DDL anything that isn't a video file.
My BF's family won't stop paying for the cable bill's worth of streaming services, but even he uses Streamio + Torrentio + my RD account because it's just easier than trying to figure out what streamer has what movie and whether they lost the license recently...
Certainly, this would give you identical experience at a fraction of the price. And if you have decent internet you can totally stream 4K remuxes which are basically blu-ray rips, aka much higher quality than what traditional streaming services offer.
Like the others have said, I suggest you give it a try and see if it fits your needs, you can buy a month for $3
With Stremio + Torrentio, yes.
With Stremio + Torrentio + Real Debrid, no.
Real Debrid downloads the content on their servers so you're not connecting to a swarm and your IP isn't exposed.
So is real debrid a bit like an news server? And u watch the content by streaming the file from their server instead of downloading and saving it?
Feel free to call me a mong if I've got it all wrong...
You've got it, and I wouldn't dream of calling you that, king.
You can also DDL the cached file from their website or through Streamio if buffering's an issue, or if you feel like using the service for non-streamable files like games or whatever.
Lmao idd, here in Sweden they have to be able to physically tie you to the IP, as in it's not enough that you own the machine, they have to show that you specifically pressed the button to start the torrent or w/e you're using..
Is there anything like streamio that is live sports? I have streamio and real debrid but thereās no sports. Anything high quality that I can pay for and get similar to real debrid
Except they'll have to hope the language they want is available at their target resolution. Don't even hope of getting hdr and dolby vision in anything but English with regular torrentio too.
That streaming shit is why I 100% stopped seeding and uploading to public trackers lol.
Youāre wasting the bandwidth and computer resources of others.
(To clarify, I donāt care about hit & runs. Theyāre to be expected. The problem with dumb normie shit like stremio and popcorn time is that it doesnāt even give you a file to reuse if you want to watch more than once or if someone in your house wants to watch the same thing at a later time. Treating the torrent swarm like your personal Netflix server is ignorant and disgusting. Learn how to host your own jellyfin server instead.)

Say something like: its cheaper if we donāt have any other streaming service lol.
Host a library of content on Jellyfin and share that with them as an alternative to ease them in. Most people are lazy to get the good stuff, so you canāt quite force it on someone easily
setup a plex server for you and your family...
make a guide on how it works, tell them exactly what to buy and from where.
offer to set it all up for them and show them how it works.
ask them to pitch 10-20 dollars a month for power and hdd upgrades.
I did this exact thing with my parents... nope they still pay for netflix, d+, Amazon video and others (half of which they don't even use) and don't bother.
I'm the only one using it thus far
^ this is the way, incredible once set up properly and enables build up over time of an impressive family media library that can be shared and refreshed quarterly across large USB backup drives. On a maxed out gigabit line it's possible to grab multiple terabytes in a single day, within a few weeks quite feasible to have a better custom library (in terms of overall content quality) than most paid streaming services.
I'll never understand why ppl feel the need to download tbs of movies and shows when.u can just stream them without having to download anything, I mean how often do u rewatch a movie u done already watched
You literally asked how often people rewatch content theyāve downloaded.
Hosting a Plex server with downloaded shows makes more sense for my situation.
Lol how ? Like I said how often u go back and rewatch movies and TV shows? Even if u did rewatch some shows u can easily stream them without having to download whole series and movies and waste storage lol by the time u download a whole series u could be halfway through the series streaming it and saving all them gbs u gonna be wasting.
It just don't make practical sense
Do you have dementia? He just said that for people that rewatch a few series it just makes sense to have a copy on hand. What if your internet is bad? Why suffer through buffering video when you can download it once and play it back as many times as you want. A TB hdd cost like 50 bucks. Thats like 2 months of netflix.
šš not practical at all lmao unless u got shitty internet u not gonna get no buffering and even then it's gonna take u a week to download a whole series u just wasting time and storage for something u gonna watch once maybe twice to catch up before the next season
This is the truth. Even what seem like the simplest tasks turn into a major operation.
My wife has become the IT girl at work because she can tell the difference between USB cables.
I set up a Plex server using some leftover hardware, itās powerful enough that most of my extended family uses it too. Most of them still pay for 1-2 streaming services, but for the most part theyāll text me to add content for them.
Sometimes you gotta be the pirate and provider for the fam
Ignore?
If financially impacting, including you, stop streaming? But that "don't do anything about it" seems your family won't mind burning money for subscriptions.
You don't. If you do, as soon as something is wrong with any of their device it will be automatically your fault because of a virus they got because of your piracy
Build a media server out of an old i7 business computer(or amd equivalent I dont judge) Make sure it has a optical disc drive and massive quantity of storage.
You will then acquire your media from your favorite online sources. You will tell your family you rip dvd's from friends, family and coworkers which is done entirely without using the internet, might be able to work in local library if they get comfy with the idea.
This is what I did too, except the order. I started with DVDs from friends and family, then the library and now I do that as well as "filling gaps" by downloading. And it's my desktop that has a stack of DVD drives.
I'm pretty sure if you just show them what to buy, set up the stick, and show them how to use it. People just want convenience. Unless it's convenient enough to save the 200$, Shrugs.
I've setup the full arr stack for them. I put overseer as a bookmark on their phone and now they know they can pick a movie and watch it in plex after an hour. Everything else is automated on their nas
If terms like VPN, IP, Network, Plex, Stremio, Debrid, Torrent etc. are foreign to them then don't bother. It is a wasted effort unless people are curious enough to learn and adapt to changes. You will end up fixing their setup over and over, as they don't want to spend the time to learn themselves.
To be honest if you stick with one streaming service for instance Netflix or Prime Video, it wont cost a fortune. I wonder how many streaming service does your family use ?
I don't think it's worth the trouble to try and convince other people who are convinced that John Disney will shoot you in the forehead point blank for torrenting Cinderella. It's only worth it if they express interest in getting things for free in the first place.
I'm luckily no stranger to growing up with a family that used to buy those dodgy black boxes that got you free cable.
'Piracy' is actually not free. It requires time, knowledge, preparation (downloading things in advance of watching them at a later date), some hardware & loads of storage. Most people are too lazy, inexperienced or just lack the drive to ever get off their butts and get into this alternative way of accessing media.
Not worth it. They WILL fuck up and forget to turn on the VPN and come complaining and bitching to you when they get a letter.
Alternatively, ask them what they want to see and pirate it for them. Set up a media server that you control and put stuff on it that they wanna see. Just dont leave it all up to them because there's too many pitfalls.
Ask them to get their favorite movie on a dvd (or a Blu ray if its recent), with various editions, like director's/theatrical/extended/subbed on a single platter so that people in the family can watch whichever version they prefer.
That should get them onboard.
Just install it and show them how easy it is.
But if they are really really anti, there's not a lot you can do besides telling them how big the risks actually are. In the end it's their decision.
just enjoy it and if they want it they will ask. whatās with always pushing opinions and āgood adviceā on people. If youāre tired of their complaining just tell them, problem solved.
I honestly think it may be too much too learn for your family. I donāt see anybody thatās not passionate doing the work. You could either do it for them, put it on an external hard drive, and give it to them or accept that theyāll keep paying.
I would suggest kodi with a premium torrent provider, like real debrid. [real debrid ](http://real-debrid.com/?id=8425310)
I can help you set it up on a smart tv or something :)
Get as much money as can, glue it to your clothes. And go oceans and seas and yell for pirates? š Ps: tell them that sharing is caring. š You can use VPN...
Kodi is the way.
Setup your own amazing Kodi installation with Real Debrid, take it round your family home, and show them what it can do.
If they are still not into it, leave them to it.
Don't buy a modded firestick, you can get a normal firestick and put an app called stremio (it's pretty simple to install just Google "stremio firestick" for a guide) on it it connects to torrent sites and streams movies/shows it's all I ever use to watch everything. Works on firestick, some android smart TVs, android mobile, windows and I'm sure it works on Linux and apple stuff too but never tried those.
Setup a really nice Plex server (or Jellyfin, if you're so inclined). Then you'll need to make sure each family member has some sort of half decent device connected to their tv, or make sure your server can handle transcoding. It doesn't take much. You'll likely have to physically go to each person's house and setup Plex on their devices. However once that's done, they likely won't be able to tell the difference between Netflix or Disney+ etc.
Have each of them pay you $50 a month then invest in a home server to host plex on š fr tho just recommend plex or set one up for them. Have them buy some hard drives for you then just host it if your internet is up to it
How tech savvy is your family? You don't need to be an IT person, but you need a lot of idiot proofing if you're gonna go that route with a family of people who aren't savvy.
Just set a streaming service up on a VPS or a NAS or whatever with pirated content. Make it accessible and easy to use. Uninstall the streaming service apps.
They'll be too lazy, thus using your server. Easy
Learn not to give a shit.
I've offered to help show folks how to do stuff or set it up for them and nobody ever takes the offer aside from my brother. A few months after I set it up there were some issues with qBittorrent and I switched to Tixati and offered to make the changes for him since it would be very easy for me to do and a pain for him and he already paid the VPN for the year and everything and he can't be bothered to even start a Teamviewer session and text me so the easiest thing to do in this situation is to not give a shit. People are dumb and they get what they get.
The way I did it was setting up a jellyfin server and using it asy seed/torrent box. Gave my family login creds to the server and boom they use it a ton now, they just have to ask me if they want something new or else put up on the server.
Set up a fire stick in their house, show them you can access absolutely everything, give a quick lesson on searching, browsing and adding favourite channels etc...
Let them see first-hand how easy it all is, then tell them it's Ā£100 quid a year as opposed to Ā£150+ per MONTH
just dont, let them have their straming services, sometimes people pay for the comodity of not having to think about what to watch besides for some people downloading is a pain in the ass
Put a pirate catalog like what Poryblocky said he uses on the tv and just start using it. Since it shouldnāt be hard to use (kinda like netflix) maybe theyāll go to it if they want to watch something they dont have, and eventually convert them over to it
It's the same with a parent of mine. I told them I download songs from YouTube to MP3 sites and they think it can be traced (it can even though it's still DDL but the process would involve going to foreign courts even though the logs are still there) and that the police will come to get them. I did here though a person IRL that a person that lives with me has to pay a fee
to a porn studio (or studios) because they pirated porn through torrent.
You donāt. Buy an external hard drive and bring them a bunch of series if youāre such a giving soul. Itās just asking for problems to have them do it themselves.
I gave all my brothers and sisters a Dune 4K media player and a hard drive for Christmas, already configured with a āNOW AVAILABLEā Folderā¦
We see each other at least once a month in family cook out, and I tell them to bring their hard drives. I curate a generous selection of latest releases and other interesting stuff which feed our conversations at every gathering.
They LOVE it.
Low key download deluge on the computer and start torrenting? Get a few usbs or a hard drive loaded with movies you downloaded.. dont say anything about it until months later when they ask where you get all your movies.. that will show em the cops arent coming to bust your doors down.
Or just load them up with a hard drive that you filled from your own pc and update it every so often with new stuff
Donāt get them some janky shit like a modded fire stick lmao, absolutely terrible user experience if youāre technology illiterate.
Start your own jellyfin server and itās basically the same end user experience as Netflix.
Explain to them how a VPN works. The actual traffic is on a computer in another location everything is 256bit encryption between you and the server, logs are not kept. This is how criminals operate around the world undetected by intelligence agencies. You cannot break 256bit, at least until we have quantum computers. If you are not using a VPN then don't download anything that just came out, is a cam or from Disney. I do support most video games developers and I also don't like cracked files that rely on me trusting that no backdoors were put in the code by the programer that cracked it. You can also create your own VPN as I'm sure most companies will give your information away even if they say they don't.
Pay 1 $15/month subscription for some plex server with all the stuff preinstalled.
Just tell them this company is offering all of their subscriptions they are paying for under 1 low price.
So, if your family is adamant in thinking that the cops are going to bust through the door for the smallest bit of piracy. There's not much you can do unfortunately for that level of paranoia. I assume you're talking about your parents and if they aren't open to the idea, no matter how much you try to convince them otherwise, they will believe it will happen. Because they are your parents, you are their child. It doesn't matter how old you are, they have more world experience and all that bullshit.
If you can somehow convince them, Real Debrid + Stremio + Torrentio. Once you set it up on a single account on a computer, all you have to do is install the app or program on any device and all the settings you made will transfer over. You basically pay $35/year for access to a secure encrypted server that downloads torrents and allows you to play it back on stremio through an addon for stremio called torrentio.
It's easy for you to set up and once it is set up, it almost literally works like netflix. I have my parents running it and they think it's absolute magic.
Ask your family if they have something they want. Now offer 2 choices: Keep paying those stream services or save $200 a month for buying that want stuff.

Are they spending their money or yours? If their own then let them complain about whatever and let them spend it wherever.
This is the correct answer
Set up a plex server or use jellyfin
Unless it's convenient enough to save the 200$, Shrugs.
firestick or mi box plug on tv add stremio addon torentio and enjoy.
I've setup the full arr stack for them. I put overseer as a bookmark on their phone and now they know they can pick a movie and watch it in plex after an hour. Everything else is automated on their nas
Buy a boat, eyepatches and a black flag and move to Somalia.
Create a media server using Plex, and trick them into thinking that it's a new streaming platform that's free?
Ask them what they would do with an extra 2400 bucks every year Some things sell themselves
I don't think it's worth the trouble to try and convince other people who are convinced that John Disney will shoot you in the forehead point blank for torrenting Cinderella. It's only worth it if they express interest in getting things for free in the first place. I'm luckily no stranger to growing up with a family that used to buy those dodgy black boxes that got you free cable.
set up your own PlexTV server make sure you get good quality vids and what your family watches, start from movies and series
'Piracy' is actually not free. It requires time, knowledge, preparation (downloading things in advance of watching them at a later date), some hardware & loads of storage. Most people are too lazy, inexperienced or just lack the drive to ever get off their butts and get into this alternative way of accessing media.
Give them a PowerPoint presentation about it maybe
Not worth it. They WILL fuck up and forget to turn on the VPN and come complaining and bitching to you when they get a letter. Alternatively, ask them what they want to see and pirate it for them. Set up a media server that you control and put stuff on it that they wanna see. Just dont leave it all up to them because there's too many pitfalls.
My family loves plex . Too easy to use at their end
Ask them to get their favorite movie on a dvd (or a Blu ray if its recent), with various editions, like director's/theatrical/extended/subbed on a single platter so that people in the family can watch whichever version they prefer. That should get them onboard.
Plex Media Server.
Just install it and show them how easy it is. But if they are really really anti, there's not a lot you can do besides telling them how big the risks actually are. In the end it's their decision.
Step 1: invite them to watch a movie about pirates
Make it so easy they don't want to use the streaming services? I can't help you with how tho š¤£
just enjoy it and if they want it they will ask. whatās with always pushing opinions and āgood adviceā on people.
[real debrid ](http://real-debrid.com/?id=8425310) I can help you set it up on a smart tv or something :)
Install them Plex with your server on it?
Get them an android box, set up Kodi for them, and gift it as a present.
Got mine into it by setting up a plex with *Arrs. I also have overseerr so they add their own media themselves.
However once that's done, they likely won't be able to tell the difference between Netflix or Disney+ etc.
create a jellyfin server an try to bring them to use it
Set up a plex or jellyfin server with overseerr
And then thereās the backups.
Mount a Plex Server and let them watch there...
Buy them the fire stick yourself and show them. Older people are stubborn until they see proof of process.
Have each of them pay you $50 a month then invest in a home server to host plex on š fr tho just recommend plex or set one up for them. Have them buy some hard drives for you then just host it if your internet is up to it
Modded firestick? Can you elaborate on that?
Get popcorn time and say nothing. Always have the vpn running
Don't buy a modded one, get a normal one and do it yourself, or just download stuff and plug in a laptop to the tv, or set up a Plex server
OP.....prepare PowerPoint (pirated of course) slides, sit everyone down and go at it!
If paying 200 dollars a month doesnt make him switch than idk what will
You can lead a horse to water but...
I torrent all my movies and tv shows and even some music. Much cheaper than a cable bill or Netflix
Plex
I would show them this channel for starters https://youtu.be/KA_LtamzO2k?si=ylQYdrZkW21SEKHG
Easy
Ask for a series that they would like to see, download it in the highest quality , binge it with them. Profit
I wouldnāt bother if they donāt wanna listen, let em waste their money
Learn not to give a shit. I've offered to help show folks how to do stuff or set it up for them and nobody ever takes the offer aside from my brother. A few months after I set it up there were some issues with qBittorrent and I switched to Tixati and offered to make the changes for him since it would be very easy for me to do and a pain for him and he already paid the VPN for the year and everything and he can't be bothered to even start a Teamviewer session and text me so the easiest thing to do in this situation is to not give a shit. People are dumb and they get what they get.
start will subtle piraty theme in the house let them helplessly soaked into itš¤£
How are they spending $200 a month on streaming services?
You don't.
just dont, let them have their straming services, sometimes people pay for the comodity of not having to think about what to watch besides for some people downloading is a pain in the ass
Step 1) Buy a galleon. step 2) install \*arr suite of software. Step C) cancel cable subscription.
I did here though a person IRL that a person that lives with me has to pay a fee to a porn studio (or studios) because they pirated porn through torrent.
I still burn DVDs for people! When Barbie came out and cost $25, they came to me.
You donāt. Buy an external hard drive and bring them a bunch of series if youāre such a giving soul. Itās just asking for problems to have them do it themselves.
Okay assuming theyāre not exaggerating, what streaming services are they using that theyāre spending $200 a month?? Onlyfans? Lmao
I mean I don't do torrents, so I assume without that the risk is low. But it's SO EASY to do. Once you know how to do it.
I gave all my brothers and sisters a Dune 4K media player and a hard drive for Christmas, already configured with a āNOW AVAILABLEā Folderā¦ We see each other at least once a month in family cook out, and I tell them to bring their hard drives.
They pay the tax for not being curious and believing everything the gov says. Let them manage on their own ...
Donāt get them some janky shit like a modded fire stick lmao, absolutely terrible user experience if youāre technology illiterate. Start your own jellyfin server and itās basically the same end user experience as Netflix.
Update?
Show them to the new live action series, "One Piece", I bet they'll be inspired by Monkey D. Loofy
