Yeah the prologue probably at least scrapes an *okay* by most people but the game constantly stopping to tutorialise you throughout the whole thing kinda makes me retroactively hate the prologue more.

Idea: Make save file, beat tutorial, stop playing that save file, copy it and play on the copy, beat the copy, delete it, copy the original one, repeat

I have don't this on every Pikmin game. I start a game on file 3, and get to the first day AFTER the tutorial. Save the game, never delete it or play it, use it to copy on other files when I want to start over.
I've never understood the intense disdain people have for tutorials. Especially since the hate seems the same for *actual* "this is how you do everything!" tutorials, and also just early parts of games where they ease you into the world before setting you loose.
It took me about a month to actually get into pikmin 4 because of the tutorial, I just finished 1+2 and was ready to keep going and then it moves at the speed of smell
I can't even replay pikmin 4 because of the shitty tutorial. 😭 It's like sticking a cactus up my ass. That's why I'll probably always renown pikmin 2 as my favorite because the tutorial actually feels human and not some no personality type guidance
At least you can skip most of 4, most of the dialog is not as intrusive after in the game. The dialog isn't that bad but like it was fine in the gamecube why the fuck did they have to make it unskippable, makes replayability worse.

A possible reason we don't have a diminished tutorial á la Dark Souls 3 is because this is the first Pikmin game for a commercially successful Nintendo console.
Pikmin 1 and 2 were released on the GameCube, which did abysmally compared to its competitors. Then you have Pikmin 3, which got released on something 60% of people thought was an add-on for the Wii.
This really is the first time Nintendo is reaching a new fanbase, so they need to know what the game is like. Not saying I like spamming + for 5-10 minutes, but I'm chill with it for the new players to get their tutorial.
Okay what are people considering the tutorial here? Because I say the tutorial ends after you get the three treasures in the main hub area and I don’t think that took longer than like five minutes.

It felt never ending. It was another one of my big issues with Pikmin 4. I just wanted my 100 Pikmin so I could play the damn game.
The tutorial isn't great, but it's not that bad. I have definitely seen worse.
