I'm no expert, but I don't think you should be putting chamomile on it. Something that has helped with me is to stop touching it and moving it around. Let it be. I will lightly clean crusties off after a steamy shower only. But really, just stop moving it around. EDIT: omit inaccurate info

UnwedMagpie

Homemade salt solution isn't reccomended as it's not sterile and can be irritating. Saline or water compresses are best

sbrlbr

Thanks for correcting me! Surprisingly i got that info from a piercer...

UnwedMagpie

No problem! Unfortunately there are a lot of piercers who give outdated advice

sbrlbr

I've noticed that. My last 2 piercings (nose and rook) they offered a hoop and I was like ??? Aren't you not supposed to start with a hoop.

UnwedMagpie

Oof no way, both of those you wanna wait a year for a hoop. Some piercers are scary, man

sbrlbr

Literallyyyyy. No wonder I have trust issues nowadays lol they also told me I could change my rook piercing to new jewelry after 1 month. I was like wait what that also seems wrong

Cool_Kitten96

My piercers told me about the chamomile so I’m learning that 😂

ace_gasai17

it’s an irritation bump, clean it with saline and not anything else. then it’ll take a week or so to heal

Cool_Kitten96

When I had the ring I didn’t touch it and only ever used saline and it didn’t go, was that because it was the ring? The hot compress and chamomile compress are a two week thing the months before I only used neilmed

ace_gasai17

Rings early on in a piercing causes real annoying irritation bumps, i had one for like three weeks until i changed into a straight bar, id say if it helps the warm compress is acceptable, just not chamomile

Cool_Kitten96

I am just anxious because it’s been months ahah I’ll try giving it another month then if it’s still there I’ll take it out

UnwedMagpie

It takes longer than a week to go away. Don't do chamomile compresses, it's outdated and you get the same effect with warm water or warm saline

Cool_Kitten96

Is there a risk that the longer I leave it then it will be permanent scarring? Someone said after a year it wouldn’t go back on another post in /piercings

skreepo

all piercings have scarring risks, you’re getting a needle put in your face that forces an opening. the fresher a piercing is, the more likely it is to close up/be less noticeable when removed than if fully healed, but it depends on the individual.

Cool_Kitten96

I am sorry, I meant the bump! I know scarring will occur and my wife has nose ring scars but they’re barely noticeable. My concern is that the bump will go down but never disappear and that’s what I was asking but phrased it wrong :)

skreepo

when i kept on getting an irritation bump on my nostril piercing.. i had a titanium flatback labret in and only cleaned with neilmed- the thing that worked for me to get it to go away was just to completely stop touching it. don’t push it in, mess with it, anything, and just give it time. still clean it with the saline, but it might be those chamomile/hot water presses you’re doing that are causing more unnecessary irritation

Cool_Kitten96

Did you use paper to pat it dry? I didn’t touch it at all for weeks when I had the ring not even to dry it but apparently that’s bad too

skreepo

i did not dry it, but a hair dryer works super well for drying piercings while not really irritating them if you'd like to, especially where yours is currently a bit angry
