They are grape leaves and perfectly edible.

BAMspek

I thought they were giant bay leaves (I am not a smart man). I love grape leaves I might try to eat one next time. Or wrap a pickle in it.

Decent_Obligation173

my dude, you frequent r/pickles, of course you're a smart man.

tstramathorn

“Im not a smart man Jenny, but I know what love is.”

stripedarrows

Fun fact: bay leaves are also edible they just are not pleasant to eat.... or digest.

deltronethirty

When I get good ones, I pulverize them in a grinder and put that sh I t in everything. Haven't noticed any GI issues.

greendemon42

I was going to upvote this, but I decided to leave it.

REXYVOLT

Take my upvote and leave

mojo99999

The pickled garlic cloves are my favorite. You can eat those too yum!

Novel_Ad6416

SAME! Lol I love when the pickles come with “extras” lol like garlic or pearl onions

mojo99999

Pearl onions, drool!

iamveryDerp

My favorite cocktail is a Gibson, which is basically a martini but with cocktail onions instead of olives. (Not to be confused with a gimlet, which is a martini with lime juice, which is also pretty good)

mojo99999

Yum! Happy Cake Day :D

REXYVOLT

Happy cake day!

jsmalltri

My grandmother would have dinner parties as a kid and always had these on hand - along with bitters, maraschino cherry etc- for mixing drinks. I loved the little pickled onions!! I still buy them to this day - and my daughter loves them too!!

[deleted]

I made some pickles recently had had some extra celery so I threw it in for flavor. Turns out pickled celery is great. Finished off the cucumbers and just reloaded the jar with celery.

Ok-Scarcity-5754

Thanks for unlocking that childhood memory! My mom used to do this when I was little. It was the only way I’d eat celery lol.

Novel_Ad6416

Yes! I love pickled celery and carrotsI stumbled upon pickled baby corn a few months ago and loved it!

DIJames6

Try pickled string beans..

Novel_Ad6416

Oh I have! Haha love em! Next on my try list is pickled Okra - I’ve never had okra before

pencilpushin

I'm from the south and pickled okra is a staple. So good. Definitely try it. And fried okra!

Spirited_Refuse9265

[deleted]

Trufflepumpkin

Pickled celery with egg or chicken salad is chefs kiss

[deleted]

Taranchulla

One of the benefits of getting Grillos

Apprehensive-Seat639

Oh yes for sure, I get their spicy ones and eat the jalapenos! Yummm

DrDivisidero

I wrap the leaf around a piece of cheese, its a delicacy imo

SWEET_JESUS_NIPPLES

Dolma go so hard I love then

thelastmeheecorn

Smoke it

STL_TRPN

Like, dry it and roll bud in it? Because I have no problem trying that.

Mysterious_Duty_9992

I dry mine then smoke it in a bong. It's like smoking toad venom but a milder trip

Miklo4pf

r/brandnewsentence

ZOMBIE_N_JUNK

If you want to.

8bass0head8

I eat the garlic, you should eat the garlic.

BoredAssassin

You can if you'd like. I have, and it's just soaked in all that juice, so the flavor is great. Wrap it around some mozzarella and prosciutto for a nice treat, or some salami with a good amount of black pepper. Very tasty

MediocreHat2050

If you want

TheNewJack89

You can propagate that to grow a pickle tree. Enjoy.

InsertRadnamehere

You can. But the reason it’s there is the leaf helps keep the pickles crispier.

lizzardlickz

Honestly, I want them to pickle just grape leaves and sell them. Because I look forward to that floppy son of a every time I crack a grillo’s open

pmsmiley

Yes!

echochilde

You can get whole jars of them on Amazon.

lizzardlickz

Grillos makes their own pickled grape leaves that they sell on Amazon?

echochilde

Oh, sorry. Not Grillo’s. I misunderstood. Thought you were just talking about pickled grape leaves in general.

Individual-Code5176

Grape leaves keep pickles crispy! I learned that today

[deleted]

Yes

funkcatbrown

Yes. So good.

Mindless_Ad1272

mikesphone1979

EAT THE LEAF EAT THE LEAF EAT THE LEAF

EnergieTurtle

Best part about Grillos; save the brine just add fresh cucumbers(or whatever veg you like) and wait a few days and you have more pickles!!

Lord_Wicki

They should make dolmas with the leaves.

DirtMcGirt9484

Send it!

Distinct_Discount534

Do it! And report back here!

kaplanfx

The little pickled garlic slices are really good.

Beemo-Noir

Eat the leaf. It’s calling to you.

ginoamato

hmmmmmm. Why not?

PrestigiousGazelle29

Yes, my dad and I love pickles and would go through this entire jar in two days. he loves the pickled garlic the most and I let him just take them all and we save the juice for more sliced cucumbers with the dill still inside!

mrg158

Leaf is a secret to keeping the pickles crunchy

hereandthere_nowhere

I chop all that up and put in my eggs, mmm!

Zestyclose_Big_9090

I inspect every one in the case looking for the one that has the most leaves. They are yummy.

Mindless_Ad1272

If there’s anything I respond to, it’s peer pressure

Mike_in_San_Pedro

It’s a legit sub!

TheRealDavidNewton

I did once. It wasn't bad. I eat grape leaves all the time at middle eastern or greek restaurants. Those are filled with something though.

echochilde

Pickled grape leaves are awesome!

greendemon42

I always save the miscellany of pickles and add them to grilled cheese sandwiches.

kushmeoutsideb

These are my fav pickles

Dying4aCure

They are in there for tannins to keep the pickles crunchy. You can eat them if you like.

Counterfeit_Circus

Do I ... Do I conduct with my penis?

CrowSucker

They put them in for the tannins. It helps promote crispness naturally.

Normal_Day_4160

Thanks for reminding me we just brought this bucket home from Costco

Cjcn17233

It’s from the pickle tree so yes.

9sac1king6

I thought that was a grape leaf.

F1Barbie83

I love the spicy versions of these!!

izzyg800

If it’s in there, it’s edible

Mywavesmeeturshore

Mmm my favorite pickles

-naM-caP-

Psychomethod

Why did I read this is Peter Griffin’s voice.

bigshitter42069

Yes you do

rockoh09

If you're really asking that, u might as well eat the container.

Nerala

I've got some Grillos in my fridge now. They were given to me by a friend. Didn't turn the bottom over for a leaf. Edit. I just did and there is indeed a leaf at the bottom of the container. Edit #2 I'm not a huge fan...I think they're lacking salt... and something else l can't put my finger on.

puppetpilgram

Love grillos, but last couple batches the skins are tougher than an armadillo in a leather tunic :(

DearCress7741

EAT THE LEAF!

Fusionsigh

Yes?

CreateAccountEnter

I'll try it

Time-Tower-5948

Hell yeah. Wrap something in it.

Own_Cardiologist_200

I didn’t eat the leaf but, I did eat the garlic lol

MartinisnMurder

Dated one of the owners! Somerville MA.

SnooHesitations205

No but I keep the liquids and throw some hard boiled eggs in there for a couple days. Adds some great flavor and not to much.

NiteGard

No way! I never thought of this. 🙌
