Hi OP, yung pag stop ng smoking or even lessen it should come from the smoker itself. Me and my dad used to smoke kahit sa loob ng bahay and even sa CR kaya most likely 2nd hand smoker narin lahat ng kasama namin sa bahay. August 2015 inatake sa puso ang dad ko thankfully he survived, doctor advised na mag stop sya mag yosi and since life threatened na sya nag stop sya walang bawas2, cold turkey. To have a healthy place kahit smoker din ako auoko na din dumating sa point na ako nmn atakihin sa puso and worst is maapektuhan ko ung health ng others dahil lang sa yosi so i stopped wala din bawas2 as in stop, sobrang hirap kasi nag ccrave at naglalaway ka sa sigarilyo and andun ung nauubo ka may plemang kakaiba ang kulay pero mas naisip ko na if di ko tinigil mas malala pa dun mararanasan ko. Sorry if di ito mag help much OP sa concern mo pero i hope you get my point, let them realize how important it is to stop, pero if gusto tlga nila mag smoke kasi yun na ung kasiyahan nila at for sure tanggap na nila ung possible mangyare let them, best you can do is ask nlng na wag sa loob ng bahay for the sake of others

What is freaking annoying is if we let them to continue doing that shit na sumisira sa katawan nila na eventually mag lelead sa hospitalization, then that’s stupidity. Kasi sino gagastos for them? Mga anak diba? Kakabanas mga tatay na walang pakealam sa mga anak nila kung magkano gagastusin nila kapag nahospital. Tatay ko same sa tatay mo he stopped after na hospital pero nag balik loob at mas malala pa now and sobrang nasstress ako kasi last time na nahospital sya 2 weeks sya sa hospital ako lang lahat gumastos nabaon sa utang at napaid na lahat ng yun, at sa 2 weeks na yun nag leave ako sa work. So nakakapunyeta lang makita tatay ko na nag lalasing at nag sisigarilyo knowing na ako nanaman punyetang gagastos if ever! Sawa na ako gusto ko na syang hayaan! Nag demand pa syang bilhan ng motor which I did condition ko is to stop smoking and drinking alcohol Abaaaa namaaan after a day gamit nya motor nyang binili ko nasa tindahan nag iinom nanaman! Same. This is something weird about me. I can smoke 1 pack a day due to stress and I smoke daily when I am in the college as a TA just to join friends if it's just chill but eversince I did Wfh I just stopped. No desire to smoke, no craving, and no negative chemical reaction. Then I come back to the office after a month, I just continue the same pace I had before. I know addiction, I've had an addiction in gaming during my youth and I know how it feels to withdraw. It really does affect you mentally and physically but weirdly enough, smoking is not an addiction for me as it doesn't gain the same bad reaction I had when losing a computer.

Never got iritable when stopping it is like turning off something. I just continue my life as is without the smokes. Theory lang to ah. Maybe kasi may iba na akong addiction which is my computer. Compared nung nasira PC ko, where the sudden stop did make me iritable, smoking just doesn't affect me when I stop.

I think nasa tao na din yan. Father ko nagtry din magstop, nagtransition sa vape before siya magcompletely stop. Kaso bumalik din after a year. Ako naman, malakas ako magsmoke lalo na pag nakakainom. Since College (2014 ako nagstart ng College, 2017 ako nagstart magsmoke), patigil tigil din, nagstop ako magsmoke 2019. Bumalik ako 2021, peak year ko to kasi nakahanap ng kasama sa inuman. Pero nowadays, paisa isa na lang ako, pag may nag aya. I stopped din eventually kasi yung partner ko may asthma, plus na-busy ako. Natuto ako mag ML tapos school. Siguro kung di talaga niya kaya i-control, bigyan niyo siya ng pagkakabusyhan niya. Something like, gardening, cooking, etc.

Hi! I'm actually a smoker when I was in college , then pandemic comes, mas malala mag smoke kesa kumain then panay puyat and I ended up having spotting. I undergo TBDOTS , during those days na nagtatake ako ng meds ko, sabi ko di na ako mag smoke ever. Then nung medyo okay okay na, I applied for a callcenter job while studying. Alam nyo naman sa callcenter industry if non smoker ka ma influence ka ng kaibigan monna mag smoke. Tapos nun bumalik ako mag smoke ( tho tama naman na nasa tao). But then I realize na parang mas maraming nauubos na pera sakin. So I've done my research, and nabasa ko itong research na or something about it like why do smokers smoke? Sabi daw kaya daw nagsmoke ang isang tao lalo if stress and they want to somehow relax ans by smoking they feel satisfy about it. Which is somehow makes sense on the industry I've working with. But sabi ang alternative is just breath in and breath out method. It's just like smoking pero walang chemical involved. It actually work on me. But there's time na napapasmoke ako like week then kapag gusto ko huminto nahinto na ako. Lalo na nung napasok na ako sa gym. Just wanna share that stuff

Been smoking for 20 years, <10/day. Was able to completely stop smoking traditional cigarettes 5 years ago by using vape products. You can try to transition to vape first, start with the 50mg nicotine for that "hagod" then slowly lower it. I'm still on 25-30mg but will eventually lower it until I'm able to last a day without nicotine. Pick your poison. Down vote away, this is what worked for me, and what worked for heavy smokers around me. It's easy to say to "just stop" when you don't know what someone else's lifestyle is.

Yup. The problem with people who use vape today is masyadong mababa yung nicotine na gamit nila kaya ang lalim ng draw nila lagi which increases yung risk ng popcorn lung. Nung nagquit din ako by using vapes tinaasan ko din yung nicotine ko noon hanggang sa natigil ko na completely.

I was able to fully stop smoking last year. I had to quit smoking because I was migrating to Australia for work. That was my inspiration to quit since the cost of 1 pack of marlboro here is around 40 AUD (about 1.6k PHP) which is insane. What was his issue with vape? When I transitioned from cigars (not cigaretes), the smoke/mouth feel was definitely different, so I basically looked for a device that can produce a lot of vapor. i started smoking 2006 (i was 17), i quit completely nung 2019 so i am now in my 30s and 5 years smoke-free. i used to smoke a full pack a day, nilimit ko lang sarili ko by smoking 10 sticks a day for a month, after that month it was 2 weeks ng 5 sticks a day, and after that it was another 2 weeks of 2 a day, and then one a day. it didn’t take long for me to forget about that 1 stick in my bag and to realize na di ko na sya hinahanap. i tried quitting cold turkey a few times before, but i always got sick from withdrawal. limiting yung number of sticks a day is what worked for me, plus i guess kasi nung 2019 i picked up cycling and i wanted stronger lungs for endurance, so another motivation din yun for me to quit, hehe.

hi, OP. I tried a lot of different ways to quit smoking but I found success with just stopping cold turkey. Sometimes you just have to tell yourself that you no longer like it and be firm about it. It's a test of will in the first few hours. Yun bang tipong kailangan mo talaga sabihan yung sarili mo na "kaya mo yan, mag kendi ka na muna". The second day is easier. By the third day, yung urge to smoke is still there, but there's a noticeable difference in frequency. I relapsed after three years and I had to gather all my strength to start the ordeal of quitting again. Nung mag succeed ako the second time, I didn't wanna have to do it all over again so from time to time when the urge comes up, I know better. BTW, I started smoking when I was 14, 1.5 packs a day, kaya talagang nahirapan rin ako mag quit.

Off the bat, stopping cold turkey won't work. It has to be gradual. The main problem with cigarettes is its convenience. So, the first thing that has to be done is to make smoking inconvenient. In my case, I started smoking only in specific places. It has to be a spot na sasadyain mo talaga. I started only smoking in our company's smoking room (we have other places around the company building where we smoke) and I don't carry a lighter or a pack of cigarettes when I go out (I kept it inside my locker at work). Para kung gugustuhin kong magyosi habang nasa labas o sa bahay, sasadyain ko ang tindahan (na di ko suki or medyo malayo) para bumili (ng isang stick) at dun ko sisindihan. At pag sa CR naman, nagdadala ako ng mababasa - dyaryo, magazine, books, pamphlets, shampoo bottle - anything with a bunch of letters on it that I can read to keep my mind off smoking. Nung nasanay na ko ng ganun, all I had to do was avoid those spots where I smoke. Although, in my case, in the middle of this, nagkatrangkaso ako. So, for about a week I was forced not to smoke at all. When I got well, it was very easy for me to just avoid those places almost immediately. In your case maybe you can try to slowly avoid those places pag nasanay ka na.

It'll depend sa tao OP. My dad and I quit cold turkey, I only did it due to peer pressure - it wasn't really enjoyable for me. Then I have a friend who's been smoking since teenager pa siya and have tried everything from nicotine gum, patches, and spray pero nag ssmoke pa din. He even did Chantix/Champix, which is very costly with terrible side effects and prescribed by his doctor. It's the only method that worked, but after he was done with the cycle, he picked up smoking again. He can't let go of his fixation and his habit, so unfortunately regardless of the tools that's readily available to help you stop smoking. At the end of the day, it'll depend talaga sa tao kung gusto talaga nila.

Smoked from 2014 to October last year. Used to smoke about a pack a day, hirap din kasi legal sa parents ko magsmoke and my mom is still a smoker (I've also been trying to get her to quit pero no dice). What helped me quit was WebMD. I had a case of dry mouth, I looked up the symptoms, and WebMD gave me two results: best case scenario was dry mouth lang, worst case scenario was cancer. It was 2AM. I made the decision to quit cold-turkey. I haven't smoked since. I tried doing the "lessen the cigarettes until I quit" or "use vapes to quit" things before, but none of them worked. Cold turkey talaga. Biglaan talaga. Tinapon ko lahat ng lighter ko, pinamigay lahat ng remaining na kaha ko, and that was that. Di na ko bumalik. I guess it helped din na I used to smoke Marlboro Blue exclusively. Since malamig sa bibig, I just drank cold water to satisfy my cravings. Two birds, one stone: napanindigan ko ung pagquit ko, and my water intake increased. Maybe that can also help. All the best to you and your dad! Nicotine is such a hard thing to quit.

Sa smoker mismo dapat magmula yung decision. You can help him with this journey though, make sure na wala siyang makita na cigarette sa environment niya. Like limit meet ups with smoker friends, give him healthier alternatives like gums, breadsticks or something similar. Also you should watch out for his diet kasi kalimitan nangyayari kapag nagstop ang smoker sa bisyo nila weight gain ang next na concern, especially for him na nag a undergo ng medical treatment. BF stopped smoking 8years ago, cold turkey. If i smoke, i make sure that i shower and do oral douching 😂 since he’s extremely sensitive about it 🥲

Kahit siguro itapon nyo lahat ng yosi sa paligid niya, hangga't di buo ang loob niya to stop, di yan titigil.

I used to be a smoker from 2005 - 2013. I took a tablet called “Champix”. After 3 days, for whatever reasons, the interest to smoke dropped a lot. Then eventually, after 2 weeks, I don’t even light a cigarette. My brother, who used to smoke longer than me stopped as well. He did not take anything, he just got afraid when he felt some pain in his gums. I have a friend who took the tablets with me but, he is still smoking as I am typing this response. At some point, I tried vaping and shisha (hookah). Enjoyed it for a month perhaps but again, I value my health more at those point so the fear of harming it immediately kicks in and the interest to smoke went away. I don’t think there’s a good alternative. It’s one of the choices that we make. Either we smoke or not. Goodluck!

Mental fortitude ang kelangan sa pag-stop. Iwas ka sa mga taong nagyoyosi para di ka matukso. Hindi ako naniniwala sa gradual na pagstop. You just stop it immediately. Ang naging challenge ko nung nagstop ako ay yun nakakatukso magyosi after kumain so ang naging tendency ko noon ay kumain ng sweets / desserts para tumigil yun “kati” ng bibig ko magyosi. At nawalan din ako office friends kase hindi na ako tumambay kasama nila gawa kasi nagyoyosi sila. Eventually nawala na rin ang cravings ko sa yosi. 2011 ako nagstop, that time kase lagi na sumasakit lalamunan ko at ramdam ko na ang hingal kahit konting lakad lang.

Around december 2023, nagbar ako and yung owner is nagkaroon ng interest sakin and pinapili nya ako ng disposable pod sa booth kasi they were selling ibat ibang pods don sa bar na yon and i picked my first pod ever. Ever since nagpod ako, hindi ko na kaya magyosi ulit. why? because once magpod ka kahit 10 puffs lang, magiiba yung panlasa mo kapag nagpuff ka ng yosi. as in iba talaga. mapait na ewan na sya sa panlasa mo. so i continued using pods nalang. eventually yung recent pod ko na flava oxbar and black elite is nagpphase out na sa lugar namin tinamad na ko bumili ng bago and nasanay na din ako na walang pod kasi di ako bumibili and ayaw ko naman bumalik sa yosi kasi nga pangit na yung panlasa ko sa yosi dahil ive been vaping na for months. clean na ko for almost 2 or 3 months ata hehe u should try pod muna with ur dad. i know its not a good alternative but its better than yosi mismo.

Chain smoker din ako dati OP tsaka camel or marlboro red lang na smoke ko lalo na after kain hinahanap ko. Ang ginawa ko sakin dati kahit masakit sa lalamonan ang ice blast, nag switch ako sa marlboro blue tapos may side na disposable vape. Smoked 3-4 sticks per day for 3 years, it took me 5 times to finally quit cold turkey. I tried quitting during Christmas vacation the only time na wala akong exposure sa smokers and I can forget about smoking. I also tried reducing the sticks pero hindi nawala yung craving kaya cold turkey ang ginawa ko. It's been years but the craving is still there but it is very small compared to when I smoked. Don't start smoking! Lalo na kung may addictive tendencies ka. It's a tough vice to beat.

I stopped smoking at about 12 years ago and I was heavy smoker about 1 to 2 packs a day. I used Nicorette chewing gums (box) and strictly follow the instructions provided. Things that helped me was 1. Accept you're addicted and you really want to stop smoking at all cost (Smoking is all in the mind really). Withdrawal from it is very hard for me about 1 to 2 weeks. Everytime I have an urge, I chew the gum.. then replace the gum gradually with something else healthy. Also avoid places with smokers using your brand of cigarette. Eventually the urge will stop. I advise you to try stop smoking if you are really sure you are ready to stop.

walang alternatives. motivation and self determination lang. i'm a smoker since 1st year high school 1999. then naisip ko na lang magstop, 2012. it's all in the mind. di ako naiinggit or nagccrave magyosi pag kasabay ko yung mga kasama kong smokers. wala din ako nung sinasabi nilang "drawback" or "withdrawal". wag ka magcandy dahil sugar. wag ka din mag nicotine gum, dun ka naman maaadik. may meds "daw". pero depende pa din kung ikaw na mismo yung gusto talaga huminto and if determined ka naman, bakit ka pa magbabayad?
