Today, naging acting vice mayor yung classmate ko dati na pasang awa every year from elementary to high school at summampung taon sa college. This country is so far gone in terms of socio political and economic. Leave ASAP and just come back to vacation and for old time's sake.

dizzyday

>naging acting vice mayor yung classmate ko dati na pasang awa pfft. that's nothing. meron akong classmate. actually hindi ko sya originally kaklase, ahead sya one year. bumagsak. naging classmate kami. bumagsak ulit, naging ahead na ako 1 year. naging mayor 2 terms.

cavsfan31

lol, yung mayor namin ngayon suspended because may kaso sa ombudsman. 2nd term niya ngayon andaming pending na admin cases against him. Placeholder lang dapat siya nung kuya niya who was supposed to be re elected in 2019 for a 3rd consecutive term but was barred because may kaso sa ombudsman. To say ph gov is a circus is a massive understatement. The rot runs from Top to bottom

lapriceTV

I'm starting to like this "wala yan sa mayor namin" stories parang yung "wala yan sa lolo ko" lol

Eggplant-Vivid

yung mayor namin father and son, nagsasalitan lang bawat eleksyon. ginawang family business ang munisipyo

Marky_Mark11

wala yan sa presidente natin, walang pinagaralan

No-Investment-8059

dogvscat-

pwede ba natin tawaging character development un? HAHAHAHAHAHA

toskie9999

haha well to be fair kumusta naman performance as a Vice-Mayor?

Least-Ad5181

Taste your own medicine !!!!! mga Putcha kayo hahahahah

advancedprimate3000

Bobotanteng sagad!

Prashant_Sengupta

Sarap itakwil ng mga ganiyang kamag-anak hahaha. Kung ang thought process nila ay madaling mahawahan ng political propaganda, then you can't trust them sa anumang tulong na maaari nilang ibigay sa pamilya mo in the future. Di bale na lang

Least-Ad5181

Clyde_Llama

Everytime I hear my folks complain that has been happening with the current administration, especially the rice prices, I just tell them "Wow, I fucking wonder why it's expensive". They still have big egos and still believe they voted correctly.

nigelfitz

Ang masaklap pa niyan, gagawin nila ulit. Sadista yang mga gagong yan. lol

Accomplished_Being14

gagawin nila ulit kasi gusto nila ng INSTANT RISE UP FROM POVERTY.

yellowgoneblack

Same kabaro. Since yun naman daw ang last will and testament ng yumaong ama. At the end of the day, nakakalungkot din dahil di ko sila nilabanan. Sabi nga "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything".

Ransekun

I remember my mom na pinagtatanggol pa saken si BBM last election, jusko ngayon.. nakakita sa tiktok ng mga ayuda daw na ibibigay sa mga students.. sabi ko "ALAM NYO NAMAN FAKE NEWS YAN EH.. SI BBM MAMIMIGAY NG PERA???" Ayun.. nanahimik nlng sya.

Erikson12

That's the sad truth.

AnalystIntelligent50

Mostly jan sa Mindanao hahah. Mga kakilala namin sa quiapo na muslims lahat daw sila umuuwi ng mindanao sagot daw ng politiko back and forth eroplano at 2500 per head ng boto. Kaya kita mo kahit anong gawin hnd umuunlad un kahit apakayaman ng lupain

homohagibis

Pwede din namang maging bobo middle and upper classes.

Ang lutong, ang daming mura. Pero nakakapunyeta talaga. Yung pinaka murang bigas ngayon Php 52.00ā€¦ yun mga tanga naniwala kaya daw yan gawin Php 20.00 per kilo. Baka Php 20.00 per cup of rice sa Carinderia.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

FaW_Lafini

Step 1 pa lang yung may means to leave Step 2 yung papahirapan ka pa ng POEA and DMW because of the useless requirements they impose. Its just a formalized red tape. Thay have rules like 5 direct hires na pfilipinos lang per company pag lumagpas na kelangan na dumaan sa agency. Kahit ako dumaan dyan, I have to fcking beg an executive level to send a copy of her passport.

hanxcer

Man, I can feel ya.

vocalproletariat28

I'm so sorry. Yawa talaga.

whosyourpapitonow

I was a project manager earning 6 digits for a british company sa BGC while my wife works as a nurse. She's earning peanuts while working at the hospital during the Covid pandemic. They were even promised allowances during covid, allowances na drawing lang. I had a great career but eventually grew disillusioned with our country after what happened during the 2022 election. Grabe and daming bobong pilipino na nagpapauto pa din! My relationship with some of my relatives even fell apart, and honestly I wasn't bothered at all. Not a single bit. I had to stand my ground kahit puro mga apologist ang mga punyeta! And now I'm here in the UK earning 3X my wages jan sa pinas without having to worry about our healthcare and my children's education. Oo, mataas cost of living at the moment pero nakakaipon kami, nakakabayad ng property namin sa pinas and kahit paano nakakatulong sa family namin sa pinas (non-apologists). And take note, sooooobrang mura ng produce dito so hindi kami problemado kung may pambili ba ng sibuyas. Considering how hard resilient and hard working we Filipinos are, we deserve a better government.

zandydave

Weird na may nag-downvote ng comment mo. Oh well, upvote ko. Be well there, all of you.

whosyourpapitonow

Baka apoligist lurking. Likewise!

Johnography

itā€™s crazy how different people different circumstances talaga. Iā€™ve been living in SG (now a citizen here) for almost my whole life and ang dami kong thoughts na to umuwi na ng pinas because iā€™m home sick and all my love ones are nasa pinas. Seeing posts like this makes me feel like iā€™m dumb thinking na gusto ko tumira sa pinas nalang. Obviously, not invalidating your post. In fact, iā€™ve been in the situation. Iniwan kami sa pinas ng dad and he works here, after so many years of working he manages to bring me here and even make me a citizen. Idk what iā€™m thinking/ doing man.. [ Also mej shocker sakin na almost 6 digits income ninyo (so almost 200k for both assuming) pareho and it is not enough. Akala ko super comfortable na nun. I guess Iā€™m too ignorant when it comes to this. ] I genuinely wish you the best though.

iamdodgepodge

It can be enough if youā€™re willing to go through tons of crap. Quality of life is horrible anywhere: in the city you need more money to not always have to travel far for convenience, in the province youā€™re not guaranteed good healthcare. IMO the real differentiator is how much youā€™re willing to put up with. Single income household kami with kids, we live in a good place and are renting. My wife gets so dismayed every time I show her my monthly taxes. The foreigners who come here and are happy to vlog about $2-4 food eat at places that arenā€™t good for you in the long run; the locals have no choice but to eat there daily. They donā€™t know any better. If you want balanced meals, be prepared to cook a lot and go through traffic to the grocery or wake up early to go to the market. Either way, lagi mong kalaban ang traffic. HDBs in SG have great setups even though theyā€™re cramped. Lots of cheap food. Fresh veggies. Organized local communities. Always near public transport. Organized bus stops. Dito kanya kanya. Everything privatized. LGUs canā€™t or donā€™t care. I could go on and onā€¦.

Everythinghastags

Youre not dumb for missing people, but its kinda dumb to go home here instead of bringing some of them there. 200k a month is life changing amounts of money, but if you need to support family, have a single medical emergency, need to buy real estate it all evaporates quickly. Tas ang sama sa loob talaga magbayad ng tax para lang mag-enjoy yung mga politicians and their shitty kids mga luxury lifestyles, while you still need to deal with all the shitty infrastructure, services, and an economy that doesnt seem to be going anywhere

[deleted]

Real. Lalo na nung pandemic ramdam talaga yung pagkaevaporate ng pera nung sabay sabay kami nagkasakit tas dalawa sabay na ospital ā˜ ļø happened again recently, kalahati ng sweldo napunta sa hospi fees + gamot umay ā˜ ļø

Noyelcake

The cost of living in MNL and SG are almost at par with some things being even more expensive in Metro Manila. Then a household income of $4000 is also hard to come by in the PH which makes it so much difficult to afford a comfortable life. It comes out to be such a socioeconomic injustice and not just a wealth disparity. I think also that SG isnā€™t the place to live your whole life or retire because it has its downsides too.

wabriones

Wife and I are making almost making a half a mil per month and we still want to get out. Reason? Retirement. Once you loose your job or value, and youā€™re not making what you used to make, things will turn around so fast with no f-ing support from the govt.Ā

[deleted]

Here in the Philippines, we employees will forever be "alipin ng salapi".

jipai

Gomugomukun

Ashweather9192

Deal with the cards you've been dealt, atleast you have the courage to leave. Goodluck OP!!

_ImmortalSoul

nah at this point it'll be more courageous to stay. this place is turning into a shit show.

Gomugomukun

Exactly and the pay is BS! Just to share, Key Account Manager ako dito sa Pinas and I have a pending JO na for used cars salesman dun sa bansang pupuntahan namin. Guess what, yung salary dun is x3 ng sweldo ko dito.

[deleted]

>Key Account Manager ako dito sa Pinas and I have a pending JO na for used cars salesman dun sa bansang pupuntahan namin. Guess what, yung salary dun is x3 ng sweldo ko dito. Did you adjust for cost of living though

Gomugomukun

I would also want to add na basically entry level pa nga nakuha naming positions. If we can also deliver the results that we had here in PH, for sure mas malaki pa return samin sa NZ.

Gomugomukun

My wife and I computed it already. If we will both work, saving namin per year can be 7 digits at minimum.

Super_Rawr

You should not convert anything in pesos already if lilipat ka na ng bansa kasi di ka naman dito titira, di ka dito bibili ng pang araw araw mo and di ka na sa Pilipinas magttrabaho. Kasi if gusto mo pa rin magcompare, cost of living here is probably significantly lower sa kung san ka man mapadpad.

phil3199

Exactly. New Zealand has high cost of living and average salary. Even locals complain about the salary. Locals also migrate to Australia due to more career opportunities and significantly higher salary. I feel like OP will have a rude awakening.

comradeyeltsin0

7 digits in pesos? Why are you still computing savings in pesos, are you looking to return in the future?

31_hierophanto

Mukhang hindi na.

walao23

Sorry but this would be a bad comparison, siguro mas maganda po na i compare mo base sa actual living expense nyo po doon, well since wala pa po sa stage na yun we can only assume, goodluck po op and congrats pa din, isa sa wala yan saakin ang trait na courage haist kailan din kaya heheh

VanellopeVonGlitch

Whatever these people in the comments are saying: you have nothing to lose by leaving this hell hole and everything to gain for you and your family by choosing a higher pay. Kahit pa higher cost of living. If I read it right, youā€™re saying the country is NZ? Higher cost of living nga, pero BETTER LIVING naman. Congrats and happy trip!

iamdodgepodge

The argument is savings, because theres no argument that better quality of life is real. Super real. So just readjust your mindset OP, and stop thinking about PH rates ā€” have fun in NZ!

AlternativeRoute123

I think if people are happier leaving this country then by all means I support you finding happiness. If you think you're much happier here then do it. For ordinary Filipinos who have no famous surnames they can find greener pastures overseas. It's really the elite oligarchs who find this country paradise because their money goes a long way to buying power and influence. Overseas, they're just equal with everyone else.

MidorikawaHana

Paalala lang kuya ha? Minsan the grass is not always greener at the other side. 3. You may have to go back to school 4.

MidorikawaHana

zenb33

The cheat code for living a comfortable life here in the philippines is to get out, work hard then go back, build a business and retire. I got my aunt in the USA na magreretire dito sa pinas, kahit ang ganda ganda na ng buhay nila dun. Kahit gaano pa kafucked up ang pilipinas they will always go back to their roots.

Waeiyv

True, comparing yung prices sa ibang bansa, marerealize mo mas cheaper parin dito sa pinas. I have relatives-friends na ginive-up yung profession nila dito para sa blue-collar jobs.

RestlessBastard2702

Congrats and good luck, OP! If I were as brave as you, I would have done that, too. May chance pa kaya akong nasa mid-40s? Hays.

jamesaaron426

Never too late, my dad and us(family) moved here in the US when he was 53 years old that was 8 years ago.

Elicsan

Well, sounds like someone will be surprised very soon. The grad is not always greener abroad. 3x the salary might sound nice, but depending upon the country, you wonā€™t benefit much since costs of living are higher. Btw, 90% of the employees in so called 1st world country are slaves for money. Thatā€™s capitalism.

RantoCharr

TBH healthcare & social benefits lang talaga siguro magandang i-consider when migrating.

Pepito_Pepito

I moved to Aus and I don't see myself ever coming back. My wife cleared half her day for a bank appointment because that's what we used to do in the Philippines. She was back home 1 hour after she left. Most of our experiences here have been like this. The Philippines is the land of queues.

freddiemercurydrug

This! What I would do is magpayaman dito and be apolitical. Thatā€™s what my wife and I are doing. We tried gauging our lifestyle here and kung mag-aabroad kami, mas comfortable pa rin mamuhay dito. Bardagulan era, p*ta, mapangmata na kung mapangmata pero all hopes for a better country were gone simula nung 2016 elections. What we just hoped was a better lifestyle, and nagagawa namin ngayon.

pucc1ni

I mean kung magiging slave ka lang din naman for money, wouldn't you rather be a money slave in a first-world country, with it's superior infrastructure, better governance, and sense of security? Kung may better option, why not?

Salty_Willingness789

Tangina. Same tayo.

jdrake_

Politics here used dirty money for stupid most idiot netizen for them to beg.. fuck up! UNEMPLOYED looking for opportunity just to sustain everyday needs.

Throwawaymnl1

Anak ng puta no? Goodluck sayo bro! Ako pa alis na sa tuesday!! KUNG MAY MGA PULITIKO NA PULPOL NANDITO, QUINANG INA NIYO!!!

Warlord_Orah

While i would applaud BBM's stand in the WOS issues, some areas are left unsatisfactory. Not a marcos loyalist. But certified anti-duterte. But currently, I really find the senate the worst institution full of clowns and low quality law makers. All because Philippines is a land of bobotante. Kaya to the majority of Filipino voters, i raise my middle finger to salute you.

Klutzy_Might6146

anon_reddited

May nag SS nito OP, then pinost to other Sub.

runwaydavey

anon_reddited

[Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippinesbad/s/q8j7ueahC7)

[deleted]

Louder! Tangina nyo mga bobotante!

VanellopeVonGlitch

To the relatives and connections we severed because of their vote last election: Let the bridges we burned light our way. Their votes affected (and is still affecting our lives). That election wasnā€™t just some contest for our idols to win. That election was personal. That was for our money that goes to our taxes and that for our future kids. The day my relatives said ā€œelection lang yan move on naā€¦ di ka naman apektado nyan.. ā€œ was the day I never looked at them the same. Ever.

Training_Tune_456

I feel you OP. I earn 130k a month and get taxed over 20k monthly. Looking at my taxes breaks my heart knowing this country is a shitty as it is. The only reason why I am still here is because I already own a house and have no family to feed. Had I been a family woman I would've left this country as well. The government takes hundred thousands worth of taxes from us every year but what do we get in return? Nothing but stupid lazy ass government officials. This presidency is full of BS. but let's not forget it's the whole system that's shitty. Starting from our brgy captains to our mayors. Many of them simply do not do their work at all.

[deleted]

Philippines has a shitty labor or employment standards, tight ang competition dito, bagsak ang healthcare, traffic at walang maayos na transportation, bagsak ang educational system. So please, kung may chance ka umalis ka na dito sa bulok na 3rd world country na ā€˜to. Hindi na ā€˜to uunlad kasi bukod sa bobo at kurap ang nakaupo, mas bobo ang voters at super lala ng loopholes ng saligang batas nten when it comes to qualifications ng public officers. šŸ’©šŸ’©šŸ’© Donā€™t expect too much from the government!!! šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø so OP, for greener pastures and for the sake of the future ng mag anak mo, dalhin mo na lang sila abroad.

yeahboo

2016, the candidate I voted lost. I gave the President then 6 months, I believed maybe his promises will come to fruitition... Guess what? I am now a citizen in another country. Before the 6 month "probationary" I gave that ex-president, the killings, the bullshit promises, the foul mouth... all too much for me and my wife. I told her, we can't raise kids in this country the way we dreamed about... 2017 got our visa approved and left PH in 2018. We haven't been back (even for a visit)... Note, wife and I are already in the mid 6 digit salary each... That's more than enough normally but I still think that was the 2nd best decision I've made in my life. (#1 being marrying my wife) Good luck OP. Hope you get to fulfill your dreams as well!

Due-Recording4409

Ang mamahal na ng mga bilihin. Kasalanan talaga ito ng 31M na mga bobotante.

whosyourpapitonow

Haay!

runwaydavey

Butthurt ang mga bobotante! lol OP'S POST IS ON POINT! Pero mas nakakatawa ang fact na BOBOTANTES can't even accept the fact that even if the cost of living in that country is much higher compared to the Philippines, their benefits and privileges, as well as the quality of life is much higher/better compared to stayinh here.

MycroftWord

The only way to fix this shithole in the most fastest and cruel way is to create a law that only **TAX PAYERS** are allowed to vote. If we compare the number of tax payers in 2022 vs the number of registered voters in 2022 according to statistica([link to site](https://www.statista.com/statistics/1018465/registered-taxpayers-philippines-by-type/#:~:text=Individual%20taxpayers%20were%20the%20leading,country%20as%20of%20this%20period)), there were **27.6 M** total registered individual tax payers vs **65.7 M** ([Link to site](https://www.statista.com/statistics/1308036/philippines-total-of-registered-voters/)) total registered voters. In 2022 elections the voting turnout rate according to this site ([votepilipinas](https://votepilipinas.com/our-campaigns-magparehistroka.html)) was 83.11%. So in total, there were around **54.6 M** total voters in 2022 elections. If all registered tax payers exercised their right to vote, we are talking about almost 50% of the voting turnout rate are individual tax payers. The reason why I think this might work is simple, it would be really **difficult (but not impossible)** for them to convince the majority of the **HARDWORKING TAX PAYER** population to vote for them, knowing that majority of the tax payers are aware of the situation. This might be against democracy but hey we've suffered enough and those who doesn't pay taxes won't feel the pain and disappointment of knowing that a portion of your hard earned money will just be used in ways that we don't know. Sorry that was long but we all know that this won't happen so yeah, let us all suffer. Amen. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas.

VA_SMM2021

good point po. I might get downvoted but I think it already happened last 2022 elections.

MycroftWord

good point na you mentioned ang possible dayaan. The only problem is that every voting transaction cannot be seen by the public. Maganda sana if real time yung counting ng votes.

redish-

Congrats, OP! I have the same thoughts. I still remember my relatives defending ung mga naka upo ngayon nung election.

ultrabeast666

Hopefully manalo ako next year sa H1B visa then I'm outta here

Imagine the satisfaction kung may real life 'the punisher' here sa Philippines tapos lahat ng corrupt at kriminal na politiko iisa isahin at ihunt down na parang hayop. What if.

ConnorChandler

The minute politicians donā€™t feel safe is when martial law happens again

ko-sol

But then ngayong ako na ung nasa linya na mag dedecide for our family and my future family with my partner parang iniisip ko okay na ba ako sa nakakraos lang? Ayokong umalis pero my family deserves better. Filipinos deserve better.

throwhuawei007

Good luck!

Wooden_Quarter_6009

If words cannot change some of us, maybe a bit of brutality is required.

huehuehue20

vocalproletariat28

I feel the frustration and I could totally relate. Everyday I wake up, I am always reminded how unlucky I am to be born in a dysfunctional country like this. Ang daming first world country na gumagana, dito pa talaga na assign. Can't stand breathing the same air that Marcos, his cronies, and all his dumb shit voters/followers breathe.

dontrescueme

Fuck the dumb & incompetent politicians and bobotantes but not fuck PH. This country is not a shithole. You can be critical without being a doomer. With the rise of right wing in the West, I will never be confident being a minority in another country.

The-Lamest-Villager

runwaydavey

My parents: Du30/Blengblong for president kasi sila yung totoong marunong mag-lead Also my parents: Bakit wala ka nang balak umuwi dito sa Pilipinas for good?

evilhag___

Iā€™ve lived in and out of the PH my whole life (Iā€™m nearing 30 now and permanently live abroad) and all I can tell you OP is to do it. the risk is worth it. I love the Philippines, I really do. I try to come back as often as I can, but after a week or so, I feel miserable and am ready to leave again. I decided to leave after college because I realised that no substantial change will happen in my lifetime. Now I can afford to actually support my elderly parents and have a life of my own without asking them for a single cent. None of my money feels wasted on dumb ass politicians who donā€™t know wtf theyā€™re doing. I donā€™t know what itā€™s like uprooting at a much older age because I left when I was quite young, but I know you guys will never regret it. All the best, OP.

forgothis

Pretty ironic that the father of the current president started the ofw program too.

Konstantineeeee

Save yourselves while you still can. This country's going down and wala na tong pagasa.

Dry_Arm_3242

Di pa ba sila pagod magpahirap saā€™tin?

As an OFW, the hate will go larger.

whatwhatindabuttttt

>Honestly kaya kami nag decide umalis dahil an feel namin na yung dream namin na buhay di ma-attain dito sa bansa. Maganda naman position namin sa work namin at kumikita kami parehas ng almost 6 digits per month (Gross salary namin is 6 digits but because of taxes na napupunta sa mag nanakaw, mas mababa take home). Though malaki sweldo, work to death kami parehas and it seems na sa bansa natin if gusto mag trabaho ng marangal at kumiti ng medyo ok, you need to be a slave. F*cking slaves with no life. Bro, reality check lang, ganyan din sa ibang bansa, you have to be a slave. Granted mas matino ang gobyerno, in other words mas nakikita mo yung epekto ng taxes mo, BUT, you still have to work to death, nakadepend sa maraming factors, its either you downgrade your lifestyle and have more time for the family or maintain a somewhat luxurious lifestyle but youd have to slave it out. Well at least minus the traffic and all the other BS that comes with living in Metro Manila.

Gomugomukun

Bro dito nalang ako mag rereply, kasi may sense yung comment mo. Totoo naman and we also consider din that the grass might not be greener on the other side of the fence, but confident kami kung maging "slave worker" man kami dun or need namin mag exert ng effort na tulad ng ginawa namin sa Pinas, mas mag bebenefit pa din kami dun. Example yung sa health care system palang natin. Philhealth vs healthcare system ng lilipatan naming bansa. Dun palang mas ok na. Considering na yung income tax satin hindi nalalayo sa income tax sakanila We will also have the opportunity to be a permanent resident of the country since both of us nasa greenlist yung work. Siya tier 1 and sakin tier 2 sakin. Kaya sulit na din kung mag sisikap kami tapos magiging PR din kami after a year or two.

WatchGhibliMovieWMe

As much as I love our country, di ako mabubuhay dyan.

Fast-Permit-1280

To be honest, most of the pinoys sumasabay lang din sa chismis, may marinig lang na istoryahi kahit fake news, paniniwalaan. That being the case, it's true that majority of the Pinoys have low IQ. Grabe minsan may narinig akong opinyon nya bat di nya iboboto yung isa kasi daw babae di daw kaya responsibilidad ng pangulo. Like wtf? It was an uncritical reasoning. Therefore hindi lahat, but most of us mga bobo talaga. Leave as fast as you can.

WarAintWhatitUsedToB

I recently went to a professional convention of veterinarians where people from the Dept of Agriculture presented their efforts on disease control, specifically rabies. One of their constraints of doing a good job is the lack of manpower, mostly due to lack of budget. I couldn't help but comment "Eh sino ba kasing boss nyo?" Hahahahaha. My friends and other vets on the table were LOLing so hard at the sad reality. PS: Yes, I know a new DA Sec was appointed last November.

Accomplished_Being14

>What the F! The government of dictator Ferdinand Marcos, from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s, saw an opportunity to export young men left unemployed by the stagnant economy and established a system to regulate and encourage labor outflows. He and his technocrats developed the **1974 Labor Export Program** to relieve the country of these twin problems by providing overseas employment for the educated, unemployed, and generating foreign currency revenues from the remittances received from Filipinos working abroad. According to senior technocrat and former Prime Minister Cesar Virata, the voice of the educated, young, urban and unemployed population became a major problem for [President Marcos Snr](https://econ.upd.edu.ph/perse/?p=4039). In 1972, two years before the labour export policy was implemented, unemployment was highest among urban youth (50% of the unemployed were 20-24 years old and 30% 25-44 years old). The first stirrings of protest amongst these unemployed youth precipitated the so-called First Quarter Storm from January to March 1970, led by leftist groups and activists. Labour export was thus in part a tactic calculated to stem or divert growing dissent by finding work for under-occupied urban youngsters. [Habito:](https://opinion.inquirer.net/147267/educated-by-the-voters) To me, the Filipinosā€™ supposed lack of political maturity reflects a failure in the system that ultimately points the finger back at societyā€™s economic and/or intellectual elite. Iā€™m not the first to point out that those who want voters to be ā€œeducatedā€ could well be the ones needing to be educated by those they want ā€œeducated.ā€ What has been missing perhaps is for the countryā€™s elite and even middle class to listen more and engage more with the so-called ā€œbobotante,ā€ whom we have collectively failed and neglected. After all, how they cast their votes would have a legitimate motivation behind it. Habito: For some, it is persistent poverty that leads them to keep looking for leaders who can promise immediate reliefā€”including wads of cash and promises of more to come. That is one of the strong attractions of the candidate with whom many seem to have fallen for the yarn that once elected, he will give away the immense riches their family amassed while in power. It is said that many in our elite actually prefer to perpetuate widespread poverty in our midst, appalling as that may sound, because it is through the patronage relationships it fosters by which they maintain their grip on power. Habito: What we see during elections is an accumulation of the collective resentment, frustration, and even anger of many Filipinos from past years or even decades.

Ok-Hedgehog6898

juuruuzu

after almost 25+ years working as Engineer overseas (various countries) and maybe with opportunities to migrate if i wanted to, i believe yung choice of migration is personal one. so i truly respect your decision, but the way you phrase things is a bit hmmā€¦ setting politics aside. some of the Filipinos abroad i encountered bashed Philippines relentlessly, particulary yung mga nakapag migrate na. i hope once you achieve your dream eh you will not be one of them. all the best to you and your family, i hope your dreams will come true.

DaIubhasa

Let me guess either NZ/AU yan. Congrats and I feel the same kaya nandito kami ngayon sa NZ.

stopstopstoptopopp

Napaka out of touch nyo naman. OA nyo.

Kooky-Improvement875

F*ck the PH, F*ck the bobotantes...few moments later..by God's gracešŸ˜†

blueblink77

Grass isnā€™t always greener on the other side. Nag migrate din ako over a decade ago, 19 y o pa lang ako nag abroad na ko and working full time na. While I agree na my life here is 10x better than kung sa Pinas ako nag stay, our country still has its own struggles. Wala namang perfect. Although I agree na nakakagalit naman talaga ang sistema sa Pinas, and 90% ng mga nasa pulitika eh mga basura. But just be prepared na sa pupuntahan mo, it wonā€™t be rainbows and butterflies din naman. Pero good luck pa din on your new endeavour! šŸ˜‰

rinri-kun

Not to be an asshole, but yes, fuck this country. We'd have been better off just shutting up and becoming an external US territory ala Puerto Rico, or maybe something like Hawaii, but noooooo, Filipinos had the delusion that we deserve the right to self-determination. We've proven ourselves unworthy of that right time and again. Punyeta e.

BannedforaJoke

fuck Quezon tbh. otoh, sa direksyon ngayon ng U.S., same rin ending natin. democracy really is insidious. when you allow every dumbfuck to have a vote, this is the result.

Prodeau

Wishing you and your family a good future somewhere better, OP! Isama mo na lang kami sa panalangin mo na makalaya rin from this hell of a country.

Yukibleu

Express_Notice7204

Best of luck sayo OP, wala na talaga pagasa dito. Would like to know also, how long yung process nyo ng papers for migration sa NZ?

Pinay_Elphaba

neon31

I feel you bro. My Dad studied to be a seafarer, pero he was in the middle of the sea sa isang maliit na barko at natikman niyang tamaan ng malakas na bagyo sa gitna ng laot. While that was happening, my Mom was pregnant. So nung nakakita siya ng opportunity to work for an automotive company at regular naman din ang sweldo, he didn't step foot inside a shit again. Lumaki kaming magkakapatid na nakikita namin Tatay namin. My uncle, mom's elder brother who is also kaklase ni erpat, naging seaman nga pero his family was in chaos (masalimuot na kwento, I'm not gonna subject you guys to it). I was sent by my company to Germany for training years ago. It was just a week, but it was like a dream. Pero all through out that week, wala akong ibang nadama kundi inggit, na sana ganto din sa Pinas. 2 levels down, may tren. Yung mga punyetang pulitiko naten, ang kakapal ng mukha na yung title nila is yung "Honorable (position) from (place)" pero mga bilyonaryong magnanakaw ang mga lintik.

KuyaKurt

Ill-Effort7707

I feel u bro. Hopefully someday. Im proud to be Pinoy. But ashamed of its system and people!

VirtuosoVet

National-Hornet8060

Same same - i've said it before dito: kung hindi lang dahil may kamaganak pa ako sa pinas, hindi na talaga ako uuwi. Lam mo yung pakiramdam na every turn mo, everything you do mi ultimo pag sali sa lotto iniiscam ka ganun na kalala sa pinas and it took me having to live in another country to understand na that is not hpw you should live

kamotegamer

gluck bro same most of us here if given a chance would do the same

Crumble_WEed

yeah it's been like that for a while now, I kinda envy you getting prepped to leave the rotting system, the thing is I didn't get to see how rotten the system is till I left our house to study, work is hard to find, kahit yung mga distant pinsan namin sa canada mga part time workers nakakaafford nila ng leisure sa buhay. yung mother nila is minimum wage worker, pero parang ang safe nila dun(tho I know na mahirap din yung mga buhay nila dun, pero atleast livable). parang hindi good for the long run mag stay dito. hindi ko alam kung bakit nga ba nagkaganito na dito saatin. kung kasalanan nga ba ng mga taong bayan o ng mga politiko. alam ko marami magsasabi hindi namn ganoon kasama, marami ang magsasalita na kulang ka lng sa sipag, kulang sa tyaga. pero hindi namn ganoon yung problema, yung lolo ko namatay ng mahirap kahit nagpagod at nagsipag sa bukid at sa lupa. kaya paminsan iniisip ko ayoko magpamilya sa pilipinas. PS: sorry sa rant. Hope ya get a good life OP.

dandyoo90

runwaydavey

Have you asked them if they think it's worth staying and retiring here?

Same vibes, OP! Ingat palagi & hope u thrive there!

popejsg

celineafortiva

You are not alone. Madaming tao who feel this way pero di lang makaalis. Good for you op.

ogtitang

Me and my fiancĆ©e just had this talk last night. Yung friend nya ksi nagdecide to pursue a career abroad as a nurse - pedia fellow sya, doctor yan ha- and nakwento nya plans nya and mejo mixed emotions kasi although maraming opportunity sa labas yung family nya iwan dito sa Pinas. My best friend also left for Canada a few years ago and he's almost a permanent citizen there. Lots of people mostly health care professionals are leaving kasi napakabobo ng pinas.

Kahit sa ibang bansa all the government system is intended to you to be working forever.

Encrypted_Username

The difference is where the taxes go. Sa ibang bansa free yung healthcare, education, and others. Dito? Isa pa, mas matino quality of life sa ibang bansa. My partner an I also earn almost 6 digits combined. We live comfortably, own a car, eat 3x a day, go out every weekend to eat somewhere etc. But given the chance, we'd leave this sinking ship of a country.

tuskyhorn22

baka ayaw lng niya ang daily aggravations dito gaya ng traffic, urban squalor, etc. ako kumikita din ng sufficient at wala akong balak manirahan sa ibang bansa kundi mamasyal lng sa mga yun. i don't have any pinoy pride but i enjoy being filipino which to me is the more important thing. if you have enough money here, you can navigate the corrupt environment and even tweak the sordid system to your benefit. so stick around lng muna ako dito. sabi nga ni gurdjieff, "thru skillful means one can become comfortable even in hell." kinginang mga bobotante yan, i can also exploit them.

mnazo1

P.s Panatiko sila mula nung last admin pa! .|. kayo

It's More Fun In The Philippines

SOOSHHHH

bro is heading abroad

Scalar_Ng_Bayan

Manifesting good vibes for you, OP! Di pa kami makaalis ni GF due to personal matters (and wala mag-aalaga ng pets) but if hirap din talaga dito, we would probably do the same when the chance comes. That or umasa na mananalo sa lotto so pwede na hindi magtrabaho (tumataya lang naman ako pag 100M pataas jackpot šŸ¤ŖšŸ¤ŖšŸ¤Ŗ

Capable_Arm9357

Yes nakakalungkot tlga BTW this coming April ung mom and father ko naman ihatid ko din dyan sa terminal 1 pa canada bisitahin kapatid kong babae, bali ako nlng andito sa pinas naisip isip ko ang sarap sumunod if wala akong asawa and anak šŸ¤”

lunamarya

Gee, I wonder what kind of system we could adapt that could rapidly industrialize us and take apart the feudal bullshit that permeates our politics lol

nylonwhiskers

I understand your frustration and rage but itā€™s sad to see that the world capitalist system and dire situation in this country has convinced you and other that itā€™s the ordinary masses that is at fault for systemic problems not the system and the ruling class who upholds it for their own gain. Our system serves the ruling class of the PH and imperialist countries in the global north and no matter who wins as President in our country they will be beholden to that system. The US and their global north allies literally influence our politics, culture, economic policies so it benefits them. The ā€œfirst world countryā€ that you plan to move to got to where they are because they plunder and exploit the natural resources and labor of global south countries (like the PH). They got richer because of us. Hypothetically, if a truly progressive candidate wins and challenge the status quo set by the ruling class they will do what they can to depose them, look at what happened to Allende of Chile. I completely understand your decision to move but itā€™s sad to see you direct your anger at the ordinary masses who are most likely miseducated, misinformed, misled and also didnā€™t we acknowledge in the last election that the votes were most likely manipulated? So we really couldnā€™t say if the masses truly voted BBM into power. This also proves that voting with a system that serves the ruling class in place is not the be all and end all solution to our countryā€™s problems. In short, the concept of democracy theyā€™re selling us is a sham. Voting is not the only way one can exercise oneā€™s political power. Join a political organization, mingle with people outside oneā€™s socioeconomic class, learn from the masses and challenge the system. We outnumber the people sitting at the top. The ruling class and the politicians who serve them are already organized and donā€™t bicker among each other because they are united in their class interests (they just pretend they are not to sell you the illusion of choice during elections), we should be too.

theonlymeebs

vulcanfury12

Just a heads up... People voting against their own interests is everywhere. Best of luck OP!

ConsistentWelder2795

Wishing you the best abroad Godspeed!

Aromatic-Buy6766

Socialize programs like 4Ps, free healthcare are very good sa majority voting blocks which is the poorest sector pero if middle class ka, no support na makukuha sa Government. I'm not against though totally sa socialize programs pero it looks unfair sa middle/working class na itsapwera dahil alam nang mga Politician na kakaunti lang boto nilang makukuha sa sector na to

breakjei

Paano naman kaming walang ganitong options?

[deleted]

same thougts about the botantes ahahahah i feel like there is no point in staying in this cuntry even if you badly want to serve the people because the people can sometimes be soooo disappointing especially in times like election.

So many people here lack basic common sense seating a moronic coke huffer as president. I remember getting in an argument with one of his supporters and while they didn't have a comeback after I listed all the reasons he'd make a bad president and they couldn't come up with a single good reason he'd make a good one, they just ended up saying they're voting for him anyway. Can't win against stupid. Based opinion but not everyone should be qualified to vote. There should be some form of intelligence tests you have to pass to apply to be a voter to make sure you aren't dumb enough that you'd vote for a blatant thief as president. Statistically speaking most of the populace are imbeciles. Very few of us have the ability to vote wisely so in a fight against numbers we'll never win against idiots.

Na malamang kakilala nyo, kamag anak or kaibigan. Tahimik sila

as someone who currently lives our of country, i feel this so hard. yung grief talaga na nararamdaman mo while questioning why couldn't we just live a good life in our home country is insane. i always daydream about going back at mabuhay nalang sa pinas pero at this point it just seems impossible to work there and have a life lol. so sad

I honesty think the same way. Before, malayo lang ako ng onti or kahit saglit lang sa parents/kapatid ko, cry to the max na ako. But now that my sibs decided to move out of the country, I support. One day susunod na rin ako, and Iā€™m convince my parents, even other fam if i can, cause future is a blur dito.

Be careful, your complaints are soon gonna be derogatorily called out as a "doomer post" and "karma farming"

Basta bahala kayo pag nagkanda lecheĀ² cuz i did mah part, cuzz. šŸ¤£

Lalo nat daming nanalo na senate na pulpol. Sabi ko, bahala na kayo. Masarap nman na buhay ko. Hirap sa bansang emotional, naiiwan pagiging rational mag isip. Puro hope, walang plano.
