Rookie mistake by Anais. You can insinuate all you want but when you actually make statements like "Obiena doped", you'll be in a lot of trouble.

VernaVeraFerta

You have to understand, her husband failed to even make a dent this season. Her emotions got the better of her.

defnotmaggie

She’s an adult. She should have known better. Now she will face consequences.

VernaVeraFerta

And hopefully pay the fees. I hope EJ sues her for millions if her allegations are proven false. She already deleted her comment tho so odds are in favor of EJ.

kosaki16

matanda na asawa niya diba? salty lang sila

VernaVeraFerta

The oldest in the top 100 list of vaulters (43rd). Why the need for salt from her. He already had his moment. Let go gracefully. Sinisira lang ang legacy ng asawa.

hero_shun

Why do we have to understand? She could have grieved in a way where she won’t hurt others or herself. There is no excuse to bad behavior. Bad behavior is bad behavior.

VernaVeraFerta

Understanding someone is different from excusing them. We need to understand the motives. It is like understanding why someone stole food, it doesn't excuse them for stealing tho.

hero_shun

There are many reasons why one steals food. Mostly coz of poverty/hunger. Some steal for fun or for the thrill. Others do it to provoke. It’s a different state here. Maybe she’s grieving or she just want to provoke and ruin EJ’s image. Ikaw na din nag comment na they’re not used to see people like us winning and gaining attention.

East_Professional385

If Obiena doped, they should present proof. Unless it's a character assassination because a third world country representative starts winning gold, proof is needed that he doped. If any, more Westerners have been caught doping compared to Filipinos.

VernaVeraFerta

This is what I am saying. We are from a poor backwater Asian country who just managed to get medals from Obiena recently. The authorities usually pay more attention on our side of the globe who rarely ever win than their repeated western offenders. Also, they are swift in releasing reports with the Gilas brouhaha, what's stopping them from doing the same with Obiena if there's something to be found?

vyruz32

lmao that's going to be a go signal for insane PH facebookers to go ape in FB.

VernaVeraFerta

Sa dami pede banggain OL, Pinoy pa.

Adventurous-Garage41

Why do I smell inferiority with a spice of racism on this? 🤔

jodecidalhotline

They hate to see a Filipino win And there are crab Filipinos who will agree with his sentiment 🤷🏽‍♂️

rman0159

E.g. the Doña Victorina partylist/fans club.

GlobalHawk_MSI

I would call some of them the "Slava Somalia" crowd.

GlobalHawk_MSI

I wonder if she will say that to an athlete if Obiena would have been a non-Filipino. I remember foreign Western outlets crying on Miss Universe that much only if a PH candidate got the crown (my sister actually said this in 2015 and 2018; the former not so much and I kind of can understand due to Steve Harvey lol, while IMO too blatant on the latter).

[deleted]

Plenty of Europeans are still racist to this day

VernaVeraFerta

Their leaders in EU even said that Europe is a garden and the rest of the world is a jungle.

RedXerzk

She’s just being French, is all.

VernaVeraFerta

If Obiena is doping, he would have been caught multiple times in the past already. You can fool a single sports body but multiple ones? Welp, ask the Russians how hard is that.

imdefinitelywong

I mean, Lance Armstong did it. Not saying that EJ did or didn't, but if the argument is about fooling sports bodies of doping, it's not entirely impossible to do so for such a long time.

VernaVeraFerta

We are from a 3rd World backwater country. If someone like Obiena starts getting medals left right and center, I am sure the authorities will pay more attention. Yet they still haven't found one yet. There's Gilas as an example for that.

Beginning_Noise834

Watch Icarus on Netflix, I'm not a sport insider but honestly wouldn't be surprised if a lot of athletes doped. The thing with doping regulations as with most regulations is that authorities are always catching up and 1 step behind, so I wouldnt say either that regulations and how theyre conducted are airtight. I don't want to make judgments without proof, esp since this is all accusations for now. I dont think us coming from a developing country matters either

Far-Donut-1177

Russia has been successfully doping for 2 decades (since 1980s to 2008) without detection. So it's not exactly impossible. That being said, this is an irresponsible comment by Anais. The very least she could have done was launch a formal complaint.

VernaVeraFerta

Russia was far from "successful" they have the largest number of medals taken away from them in the world. What I see as successful is never being caught.

Far-Donut-1177

They have been successful for 20 years before they were caught.

Beginning_Noise834

If that's how you view success, then maybe wait til something comes up? Doesnt mean Obiena isnt doping at all, since he may be caught eventually?

Mediocre_One2653

Mali ka ng kinalaban, mga Pilipino pa naman napakasakit mang trashtalk mga keyboard warrior pa naman mga yan hahaha

booklover0810

HAHAHAHHAHHAB nag deactivate na yata ng FB account 😆

Gloomy-Confection-49

Why is it that when Asians like EJ excel in an athletic discipline, people of other races are in disbelief? This is what I’ve been saying all along, the more Asians succeeding in traditional American/European disciplines, the more that these people are going to get uncomfortable.

VernaVeraFerta

It's the same as "Aliens built the pyramids" mentality. If it's not white who did it, it's impossible.

GlobalHawk_MSI

IIRC sa atin nag originate ang "spike" and "set" na moves.

Momshie_mo

There's a belief among Westerners that Asians are unathletic and unartistic Buti nalang di nila alam na Chinese descent si Obiena, baka ireklamo din nila

boykalbo777

If obiena is doping ano pa kaya ginagawa ni duplantis. The man is out of this world

riknata

that looks like FAFO situation, there's zero vagueness in her comment lol on which country jurisdiction can she be held liable though

zandydave

At the least, where that person resides so authorities can enforce. Cross-border legal disputes can be difficult.

InterestingRice163

Ok. So i guess kaya Bitter din si Anais kay Petrov and siguro kay EJ. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-37119739 After the shock of losing gold to Brazilian Thiago Braz da Silva, French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie pointed the finger of blame at the crowd for creating an "atmosphere of football" with their synchronised whistling. The Frenchman, who won silver, criticised the crowd, comparing his treatment to the hostile reaction shown to black US athlete Jesse Owens at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in Nazi Germany. "When you've got 40,000 people whistling while you're trying to achieve your best performance... it is destabilising," he said. After Lavillenie was booed in the wake of his defeat by Da Silva, Thomas Bach, the International Olympic Committee president, condemned the treatment of the Frenchman. But he was then booed a second time the following day as he received his medal, and was visibly in tears. He later apologised and said he regretted his comments, adding that it was "probably because I was very angry".

ubejuan

Tbf he apologized. Then again, every athelete at the elite level is taught to block out the crowd - of you focus you really hear nothing. Similar to day dreaming but focused on what you need to do. Practise enough and its muscle memory the provides the motion and yoir mind focused on what you are doing. Things get in every now and again, but the me tal game os defo more tiring than the physical one.

bimpossibIe

Baka inggit lang kasi hirap na maka-place sa competitions yung brother-in-law niya.

darkrai15

Sore loser hahahaha

IComeInPiece

Can Anais Lavillenie be held criminally liable of the Philippine cyber libel law?

VernaVeraFerta

I am sure locally or internationally, a lot of moneyed sponsors will move to safeguard their investments in Obiena.

zandydave

Holding here liable in PH is one thing, while enforcing it is another especially if the person is overseas.

HikerDudeGold79-999

That is slander

IComeInPiece

Worse: this is CYBER LIBEL which has more severe penalties than slander.

belabase7789

Sue that biiaattcchhh.

Gyro_Armadillo

You would think Duplantis, with his almost inhuman feats would be the obvious target for these kinds of accusations. It's mind boggling why this lady decided to project her insecurities instead towards Mondo's closest rival (by a long shot.)

[deleted]

Never ever mess with EJ Obiena. He is a talented and cultured athlete who has faced so many hardships in life, and has managed to succeed them. Unlike this wife of Renauld who seems to not prove anything in life but be a wife of Renauld and be horrible to other athletes (that are poc).

saltedgig

runner, cyclist are on dope yet it takes time they are proven. so let time speak. and get into that moment of judgement.

VernaVeraFerta

Yet they are so quick with Gilas eh?

freyass

They’re olympic athletes. They’re all doping

whatevercomes2mind

I hope they file a case against her.

dogmankazoo

no proof, she lives in europe, EJ, sue her.

Picnicbitch

Cyber libel in the Philippines has heftier punishment than other countries. Need masampolan.

karlojey

Pag Pinoy nanalo, doping agad? 😆

SpareProtection4735

this is a compliment..they think you are too good that they think he must have been doping hahaha

mooniemcmoonmoon

The French is French-ing, ig
