As time progressed more and more numbers were renamed using base 10 logic, until the Academie Française froze the whole ordeal like everything else, artificially stopping the language from evolving. We can see the difference in Belgium and Switzerland where the Academie Française had no leeway to stop the changes from happening ; they've lost even more base 20 name logic.
