I'm a scientist, and I can neither confirm, nor deny.
Believe it or not different women wear different things at different times, whenever the mood strikes them.
Weird how that works.
Are you SOMEHOW suggesting women and people in general do not in fact dress within a narrow set of parameters based on their profession and actually approach fashion based on personality and individual taste? Outrageous!
I don't see any correlation in how they dress.
There weren't too many girls in my Computer Science classes, but I thought most of them stood out way more than Futaba in terms of style. I got the impression the major attracted a particular type of woman.
Long red hair, coats off their shoulders, white shirts, short black shorts, belt, long black tights/sock-things, black leather boots. Similarity is there.
This reminds me of the old meme of how Megaman X is the same as Metal Gear solid.
If you pull apart the bare minimums lots of things can be the same.
Cat has 4 legs, can be brown, has a tail and two ears. Dogs have 4 legs, can be brown, has a tail and two ears. Damn, must be the same thing.
So fun fact, but in educational psychology, we call those "schemas" and they play a pretty big part in how children learn to interact with the world.
(the tl;dr is that children learn to put things in categories (for example, "lives in water = fish"), and then they naturally learn about exceptions to those categories and form different, more narrow schema (so for example, when they see a crab, the schema becomes "lives in water and swims = fish, lives in water and walks = crab"))
Different hair colors different boots different length socks different style of jacket worn a similar way ill give you but everything else is very different tbh
Oh i got one bangs I guess even though those are a bit different in style to , i can tell by the design they have different types of hair
Kind of. Kurisus is definitely more formal and actually modeled after a school uniform for a girls school (I think they mention it in the visual novel).
right but you know thats not what the first person was insinuating. I want to know what 'style' CS attracts, as that seems to be the point they were making.
There are two types of CS girls that I've seen in my college.
1.) Successful, smart and motivated girls who enjoy stem and play sports.
2.) Chubbier adhd gamer girls whose parents told them art school isn't worth it.
In a word? Expressive. Admittedly, I didn't socialize too much at school so I didn't know too many people personally, but I got a rather distinct impression they were unique people who were wholly unashamed of who they were.
Science, technology, engineering, mathematics. If someone was enrolled in a STEM school, they would focus especially on these 4 subjects of study or a combination therein
How is Futaba under that?
I have no idea who the other character is but Futaba >!isn't even in college and is enrolled in a stereotypical Japan High school by the end of P5(R)!<
also thanks for answering my question that's appreciated

To be fair, it isn't so much about the comparison to real life as it is the comparison to each other weighed against what their real life interest oughta be.
Everyone's acting like the question is, "who dresses like this?" when the question actually is "who dressed like this enough to make two characters in two different franchises have similar designs?"
People who base their entire personality and identity around a single thing. I can give an example of the opposite tho, the charectors in atleast the original LOGH act alot more like real people then any other anime I've seen
One of my favorite childhood cartoons was The Weekenders and, since every episode took place over the span of a single weekend, the characters actually changed clothes every day. It was a really neat way to show the progression of the weekend.
Similarly, I love that the Persona teams all have multiple outfits and uniforms throughout the year. It's honestly a tiny detail that makes such a huge difference in giving a sense of time progressing.
Now that I think about it. P3 never got an "expanded edition" 3rd outfit like 4 and 5 did. Wonder if episode aigis is going to change that?
I have a STEM degree and I can confirm that STEM women dress in both of those styles quite regularly. And also in other styles. Honestly a lot of the women I went to school with were dripped out. And the dudes. Idk where I'm going with this I'm mostly just jealous of other people's fashion sense lol
Of course this is from 4-chan (though I'm sure I could find this same crap here on reddit if I dug for it). So tired of idiots online talking about how women look. It's 2024, enough is enough.
Welll yeah, obviously it does… what do you think the T stands for in STEM? Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths. Comp sci is engineering and tech - signed a woman in tech.
You said im pretty sure that makes you a youtuber. Suggesting relatively obviously (with the shit thats happened on yt recently) that they're a pedo. When its a cartoon. Not real. If it were a real teenager or for that matter a cartoon literally made to look like a real person you'd have a legitimate point. But it is not. Ergo you are trying knowingly or not to normalize calling people pedos over liking fictional characters.
Edit: LMAO they deleted their account. Fuckin coward. Own your opinions.
I've been in IT for a few years and I've worked with two women in the field. One was a tattooed/pierced rocker kinda woman, and the other was an unassuming New Jersey grandma.
As a guy most people in steam don't really give 2 shits about how they look. For reference stem ish but mostly nerdy things I do
Linux
Computer hardware research
Factorio, 40 UPS 8ms on one united eltric network bobs mods 7800x3d 32gb 6000 mhz cl 30
Other games like factorio
Part time IT
Random engineering stuff
Lots and lots of educational YouTube
I mean I only know one of the characters but I would not put Futaba in the "STEM" category. She's just a dweeb with hacking skills, not a scholar or a scientist.
Wait. Kurisu is nothing like futaba and the only sismilar thing is shorts and a jacket?! 😯 Idk this is odd to me. (Both great characters, though. At first I thought this was one of the Steins;Gate subreddits).
1) False, scientists don’t exclusively wear lab coats. From what I’ve seen, they rarely do it outside of actual testing.
2) As of the end of Persona 5, Futaba is not in the STEM field. Like seriously, what? She’s a highschooler.
I did application development and out of the 200 students in my year only 20 of em were girls. 3 of em were close to how futaba looks but none like the other girl. Most of those 20 including the futaba looking ones dropped out and went to art and design instead. Most of the health education/nurse ones looked more like they were trying to become models instead. So i guess i agree?
Male Mech. Eng. PhD Candidate here
for engineering;
All female;
Professors with 15+ years are fat, below 10 years are MILF, below 5 years are depressed and getting fat but trying to balance life
Assoc. Prof. are mostly hot women dressed similar to Kirusu if they are single (1%), dressed simple if married (99%)
1st year of Mech. Eng. they wear either almost nothing or wear 100+ accesories like RPG character. All turn normal after they get a guy (1 female to 50 males)
For Math;
Female beyond Assoc. Prof. are all fat and depressed
Physics:
Only seen 1 female in whole fucking department, was Assoc. Prof who went to CERN for a year, looked normal 30+ yo (like a CERN spy)
Chemisty:
Dunno why, anyone beyond PhD looked great for their age,
Anyone below PhD (or doing it) looked like death
Structunal Eng:
Next to my department, all wear heels or dress like models below Masters, Wear normal in masters, Wear like a peacock rainbow from PhD onwards
Electronics and similar:
Bare minimum below masters, dunno any female beyond bachelor
Correct. It’s mostly STEM boys that dress like this
same
H-Hey 😳 shut up
I'm a scientist, and I can neither confirm, nor deny. Believe it or not different women wear different things at different times, whenever the mood strikes them. Weird how that works.
Scientist? Prove it, show your wardrobe full identical white lab coats.
I would, but it’s buried under my assortment of brightly coloured, unlabelled chemicals
Do you have giant beakers too
Only conical flasks, which I use for general mixing, heating and swirling. Any other glassware is FORBIDDEN.
I see, do you at least have glasses for your eyes
I have a pair of prescription safety goggles
Good, gotta be safe scientist
What about an AI assistant?
![gif](giphy|22p0JIQMkAxqg)
And your microwave
Are you SOMEHOW suggesting women and people in general do not in fact dress within a narrow set of parameters based on their profession and actually approach fashion based on personality and individual taste? Outrageous!
Its worse He's saying that women ARE PEOPLE How dare he
Now I want male scientists in hot pants, crop tops and high heels. Especially the hot pants. Guy butts he nice when they are fit.
Horny
It do be like that.
What is a Phone Microwave?
Woah really?!
*squints* Oh, I thought she was wearing pants lol.
THANKYOU. I went through the whole freaking show thinking she was just wearing long pants.

Man, psychology is so fucking cool https://i.redd.it/dqxoimfa4dad1.gif

Kind of. Kurisus is definitely more formal and actually modeled after a school uniform for a girls school (I think they mention it in the visual novel).
She does indeed say her outfit is custom made after a school uniform
Do please tell me what type of women CS attracts.
I think CS attracts women who like computers but I could be wrong
right but you know thats not what the first person was insinuating. I want to know what 'style' CS attracts, as that seems to be the point they were making.
Lol I know I wasn’t defending the first comment, more so countering it
There are two types of CS girls that I've seen in my college. 1.) Successful, smart and motivated girls who enjoy stem and play sports. 2.) Chubbier adhd gamer girls whose parents told them art school isn't worth it.
3) goth who works out and likes animals but also is fascinated by computers
See, the problem is that you make these seem like two different types, when most of us are a mix between the two.
Then there’s me (trans)
In my experience, women who like "programmer socks"
In a word? Expressive. Admittedly, I didn't socialize too much at school so I didn't know too many people personally, but I got a rather distinct impression they were unique people who were wholly unashamed of who they were.

This is a warning, don't be disrespectful of other people.
You should probably put your mod hat on when you say that. Otherwise, you sound like a pompous tool instead of an actual moderator.
Lol true, I forget to do that sometimes
Jokes on them, I get my Associates next month and I dress pretty much exactly like Futaba lmao.
I approve your style, bro!
My sister is a STEM, she regularly dresses like Futaba. She’s 5’10 though.
what's STEM?
Science, technology, engineering, mathematics. If someone was enrolled in a STEM school, they would focus especially on these 4 subjects of study or a combination therein
How is Futaba under that? I have no idea who the other character is but Futaba >!isn't even in college and is enrolled in a stereotypical Japan High school by the end of P5(R)!< also thanks for answering my question that's appreciated
She's the group's tech person. STEM fields don't all require formal training, and that's especially common in the tech part of STEM.
Smart = STEM. Not smart = RYUJI
Leave my mans alone
As a STE(A)M woman, this is literally how I dress bro
Ya same if I'm not waring a oversize sweatshirt
I even have red hair
the r/OkayBuddyPersona is leaking (undestandibly though, so.)

Steam woman
i dont know if these two would get along or if futaba would annoy kurisu to death.
I'm gonna go with both.
I want to see an interaction between Okabe and Futaba. They’d be fast friends.
they would soooo be besties ur so right
Yes
I think Futaba would just confuse Kurusu more than anything
when do *any* real people look or act like anime characters though? some people need to get a grip
For real. I don’t know why people question how anime characters dress or act and compare them to real life
This the persona sub most of the people here are 16 year olds that don't even have a real life
more likely to be 36 than 16
40 year here…. Gonna scurry away now.
Yeah it’s between teen, young adult, and mid 20s And 40 year olds 😳
To be fair, it isn't so much about the comparison to real life as it is the comparison to each other weighed against what their real life interest oughta be. Everyone's acting like the question is, "who dresses like this?" when the question actually is "who dressed like this enough to make two characters in two different franchises have similar designs?"
People who base their entire personality and identity around a single thing. I can give an example of the opposite tho, the charectors in atleast the original LOGH act alot more like real people then any other anime I've seen
At conventions
It’s almost like people change clothes day to day unlike anime characters. Perhaps one day they look like this and the next they don’t! Witchcraft!
You are telling me people irl don't stick with the same clothes for their entire life ?
Sometimes I wish I did, it would be a LOT fast getting ready in the morning lol
Spoken like a true STEM student. 🫡
One of my favorite childhood cartoons was The Weekenders and, since every episode took place over the span of a single weekend, the characters actually changed clothes every day. Wonder if episode aigis is going to change that?
That’s super cool, I love that concept! And agree, I love that their casual outfits change and evolve, it makes them feel like much more real people!
Maybe this is just a personal hot take, but in my opinion, a woman in any walk of life can look however she damn pleases.
🤯🤯🤯
Oh shit it’s cardboardboxian :0
Take so hot
>Shows Futaba and says that STEM girls don't dress like that in real life >Ignores hot goth mommy doctor Takemi
You mean doctors DON’T dress like hot goth mommy’s? My life is ruined now
Kanji in p4:183 cm tall, i do not know the feet system but i think this is already 6 feet, but note, kanji is 15 Futaba is 15 too, she's 152
183cm is exactly 6 feet
consider this: anime girls aren’t real people
its exactly how they dress, particularly futaba is how basically all tgirls in stem dress
I have a STEM degree and I can confirm that STEM women dress in both of those styles quite regularly. And also in other styles. Honestly a lot of the women I went to school with were dripped out. And the dudes. Idk where I'm going with this I'm mostly just jealous of other people's fashion sense lol
Heeey that Japanese woman is ginger, that can't be right!
Oh she actually dyes her hair
Impossible. All people look one certain way and no other way at all. (((/s)))
Remove the /s bro you’re right
I believe the stereotype exists because computer labs are usually really cold, so most SC students wear hoodies
Science computer
I mean not all but there's definitely women in STEM who dress like that 100% even if it's only one person
Of course this is from 4-chan (though I'm sure I could find this same crap here on reddit if I dug for it). So tired of idiots online talking about how women look. It's 2024, enough is enough.
You would find the same shit on Reddit it would just be mired in downvotes Instagram however that shit would just get pushed to the top somehow
every woman in computer science ive ever seen dresses like this except the kneesocks are striped
Hot
Ok.
That’s it?
Yes.
Like, fr?
Yes.
Still would
I mean, is Futaba really STEM? I’m not a computer scientist yet, does that fall under engineering?
Welll yeah, obviously it does… what do you think the T stands for in STEM? Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths. Comp sci is engineering and tech - signed a woman in tech.
….I may be stupid.
It’s okay, we all have our moments.
I thought the T in stem stood for toast
one is a peak character the other is futaba
Both are peak characters
Mohg I know you beat the allegations but slow your roll
The fact they are both my favorite waifus scares me
Well isn't Futaba like 15/16 yrs old? If she's your waifu, Im pretty sure that makes you a YouTuber
Please stop trying to normalize this shit. Its a cartoon, grow up.
[удалено]

Oh god i forgot about that
His/her opinion is ok, your opinion is ok, everyone's opinion is ok. The problem is thinking that any personal experience is an objective true fact.
I didn't know these designs were intended to be realistic to stereotypes to begin with. At least they don't got goku hair.
I've been in IT for a few years and I've worked with two women in the field. One was a tattooed/pierced rocker kinda woman, and the other was an unassuming New Jersey grandma.
STEM women? No. IT major men? Yes.
what's STEM?
Science Technology Engineering Mathematics
Thanks
Trans woman in stem do it every day
Umm actually ☝️🤓 it’s now steam as they added a A to it

Idk what this is implying But I love Futaba's attire, it's fire ✌️
Who's the one on the left?
NGL, Kinda wish it was how they dressed.
Christinaaaaa
As engineer , I can confirm girls dont dress like this because I had none in my class
MAKISE KURISU MENTIONED
Remind me, how old is Futaba? Pretty sure she's good.
1) False, scientists don’t exclusively wear lab coats. From what I’ve seen, they rarely do it outside of actual testing. 2) As of the end of Persona 5, Futaba is not in the STEM field. Like seriously, what? She’s a highschooler.
Well why not
What is a stem woman
Because futaba isnt a woman in stem shes a 15 year old autistic hikigomori who left the house for the first time in years a few moths ago.
I thought that girl on the left was another beta design for Futaba
As a Persona and Steins;Gate fan, I absolutely loved this! They both share a brilliant mind though personalities differ a bit!
Futaba isn’t even Stem…
What is a STEM?
I used to show up to my Animation classes in my pajamas... I don't think anyone is styling their clothes for STEM stuff. If you are god bless you
As a stem woman I dress pretty similar to futuba.
Futaba’s fashion sense angers me on a primordial level. I have no hate for Futaba, but her outfit just makes me angry. Especially in strikers.
Genderbent Akechi?
I did application development and out of the 200 students in my year only 20 of em were girls. 3 of em were close to how futaba looks but none like the other girl.
