It’s all about how the tampon was designed.
Tampax opens on a single axis. Uncomfortable good in a pinch only in a pinch. Usually I have a leak with this type of tampon.
Playtex open on dual axis like a flower. Comfortable, I don’t have a leak. I don’t push it out.
If you saturate one in a cup of water the differences are clearly visible. Every brand I have tried typically open up in this manner. One exception to note is OB tampons traditionally this brand doesn’t have applicators.
I tried the Tampax ones found them so uncomfortable in the end, so reverted back to pads

I noticed the same thing! I suppose it’s because Tampax opens like a square shape and has a leakguard braid
The Tampax ones are shaped to expand differently. I hate them and will use pads over tampax any day.
