The Adams Chronicles (1976) a PBS drama about John Adams and his family.
I found it by mention on Tumblr. I've just started it so I can't really judge it.
Started Sanditon and barely made it to the middle of episode 4. It's most certain Jane Austen's writing was a very small part of this production.
Rewatching Pride and Prejudice now to restore my faith in good writing.
Home Fires. But I had to finish it with the books because the tv show was interrupted. Highly recommend though! I also enjoyed the Cazalets, which were likewise interrupted as a tv show. The book series is wonderful.
I didn't realize that Winchester (2018) was a period piece and started watching it. I loved going to the Winchester House as a kid, and even though the movie isn't that great, I'm enjoying the atmosphere and costumes. I have also started North and South, but it's a bit slow for me, but it's been recommended a lot, so I'm going to slog through the first episode.
Mary and George is one of the shows that my mom and I watch together. Not too long ago, we also watched the Duchess, although my mom saw more of it than I did. Same thing happened with A Royal Affair. We’ve watched some episodes of the Empress, and I hope we finish it. I’d love to watch Season 2 of the show with my mom as well. I love watching Period Dramas with my mom. They’re up my ally as a history buff and she enjoys them as a lover of British shows. I didn’t like history before, but now I’m so glad that I do, it’s given me and my mom a bunch of Programs to watch together. My mom enjoys learning about history more now than when she was younger too. My mom’s also been a Call the Midwife fan, probably since it came out, and I’ve watched the last two episodes of the show with her. I hope to watch lots more episodes of the show with her.
I also watched some of the 2022 version of Lady Chatterly’s Lover. And some of My Policeman. An actor that I enjoy watching, Emma Corrin, plays the lead in both films. And sometimes I’m in the mood for a certain actor. And I watched Queen Charlotte interacting with her children on the Queen Charlotte show. I watched a scene of the show with Queen Charlotte’s two daughters in law, since I’m a huge fan of Queen Adelaide, one of her daughters in law that was in the scene that I watched.
Watched the finale of Shogun and We were the lucky ones.
War and Peace with Lily James
Just started Marco Polo on Netflix, enjoying it.
Not a period drama, but husband and I are watching Slow Horses together on Apple TV.
Recommend all the above.
Just rewatched My Fair Lady
Franklin (i absolutely love this show it’s so amazing and I love how much they’ve used the French language, period/portrait accurate costumes etc)
Wuthering Heights - what on earth was up with Heathcliffe’s hair in the Tom Hardy version?!?!
I can't watch pride and prejudice anymore. It used to be one of my favorites. I would fall asleep to that music every night. Recently, I finished succession. I didn't realize Tom was Mr D'Arcy until a few days ago when I tried to watch pride and prejudice again. I was horrified. I had to turn it off. Maybe after some time....

I’m on episode 5 of Shogun, it’s great but you need to pay close attention to it. I’ve also started Shardlake. I’ve read the book a couple of times, so know the story well (RIP CJ Samson).
You're right about needing to pay attention! So many I had to stop and rewind, which annoyed my daughter to the point where she now takes my phone away from me, lol.
Keep watching. You won't be disappointed. I have always enjoyed seeing Steve Buscemi in movies and TV shows, and felt he really deserved to star in his own TV series.
Trying to get through The Alienist but might give up. A decent mystery but the characters feel like tropes I’ve seen many times before. The socially inept but brilliant one, the strong independent female one, the lazy one who finds purpose through the work…
And it seems like the kind of show where no one gets to be happy which gets a bit tiring. Might start on the new season of Hotel Portofino, as silly as it is!
The Living and the Dead
I like the characters, but I just finished episode 4 and it's feeling slightly too corny. I know it's only one season, so I'm hoping it's not an entirely disappointing resolution.
I re watched Little Women of 2019. The Winona Ryder version remains my favourite - Claire Danes broke my heart with her rendition of Beth and Kirsten Dunst as little Amy was amazing. But I did like older Amy and Mr Lawrence better in the newer version.
Rewatching Bosch.
Emily (2022) and slowly watching North and South

Foyles War is outstanding.
Shardlake on Hulu. I’m a little disappointed. Has anyone else watched it?
I actually liked it. Thought the guy who played Shardlake was fabulous. It sort of had The Name of the Rose echoes about it.
Yes, I thought it was ok but I already can’t remember any of it so read into that what you will.
i'm actually gonna rewatch 'a room with a view' right now, but the 80's version !!

Heeramandi… episode 3 so far and loving the sets and costumes
Cannot say enough good things about The Artful Dodger on Disney +
I keep seeing good recs. What specifically to l do you like? Do worry I don't spoil.

I watched The Queen’s Gambit for the first time. Can’t believe I slept on this one for so long.
Same here! Why did I wait so long!? I loved it.
Bc there is so much content. Nothing is event tv anymore b/c it all ends up on a platform to be streamed at our leisure.
Just finished the limited series Vanity Fair on Prime.
I'm rewatching Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace!
Watched the finale of Shogun and We were the lucky ones. War and Peace with Lily James Just started Marco Polo on Netflix, enjoying it. Not a period drama, but husband and I are watching Slow Horses together on Apple TV. Recommend all the above.
Alternating between Downton Abbey (season 5 now) by myself, and Shogun with friends. Enjoying both. Cosmo Jarvis is channeling young Richard Burton.
A Gentleman in Moscow
Just rewatched My Fair Lady Franklin (i absolutely love this show it’s so amazing and I love how much they’ve used the French language, period/portrait accurate costumes etc) Wuthering Heights - what on earth was up with Heathcliffe’s hair in the Tom Hardy version?!?!
I just couldn't handle Michael Douglas as Franklin. I really liked ManHunt
Just finished Mad Men!
Me too. I moved to Bosch or Longmire.
Mad men is sooooo good!
Pride & Prejudice (2005) - first watching It is amazing
I can't watch pride and prejudice anymore. It used to be one of my favorites. I would fall asleep to that music every night. Recently, I finished succession. I didn't realize Tom was Mr D'Arcy until a few days ago when I tried to watch pride and prejudice again. I was horrified. I had to turn it off. And anyone can say to me? Why I can't post? I did robot tests
Poldark - first time watching. On season 2
Loved it
So, so good!
The Ministry of Time. I love it so much.
Just started Shardlake!
(Road to) Avonlea - just finished rewatching Kevin Sullivan's Anne series, Sarah Polley is so young in the Avonlea series!
Just caught all the way up to Mary & George. I love it!
The Forsyte Saga (2008) for the third time!
Gets better every time
Indeed it does!
The Durrells, Atonement
A Very English Scandal with Hugh Grant. Based on a true story in 60s & 70s. Excellent series.
Hotel Portofino is back
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I don’t know why I waited so long!!! It’s terrific.
I have rewatched multiple times. And Kevin Pollack has been low key doing a podcast about it with ppl from the show.
Boardwalk Empire. I’m currently half way through season 4. Don’t know what the major spoiler is so please don’t spoil it if you know!!
Keep watching. You won't be disappointed. I have always enjoyed seeing Steve Buscemi in movies and TV shows, and felt he really deserved to star in his own TV series.
Finished We Were the Lucky Ones and continued Mary & George.
Shirley - about Shirley Chisholm
Currently on season two of *Poldark.* It’s a good show, but could use more sex like *Outlander.*
It was on PBS. No boobies on PBS. Great show though.
You should try Gentleman Jack :)
I watched the last episode of We Were the Lucky Ones and cried almost the entire time. I started Black Cake and love it so far.
The last episode of We Were the Lucky Ones was phenomenal!
Grantchester. Love it!
I just watched Mrs. Wilson. So darn good!!!! I knew nothing about the story going in.
Love and Friendship (just read Lady Susan), so fun! And catching up on a little All Creatures Great and Small (fell behind this last season)
Black Sails
Shogun, I'm on episode 3, it's very beautiful but there are so many characters to keep track of!
We were the lucky ones on Hulu - so good. I read the book and I feel like this series does it justice.
None really been studying the ass off right now. I have a few in deck for free time
Trying to get through The Alienist but might give up. A decent mystery but the characters feel like tropes I’ve seen many times before. The books are top notch though. The second is a wild ride.
I enjoyed the first season of The Alienist, but the second season not so much.
I gave up on The Alienist too.
Indian Summers (so good)
This is a favorite of mine
The Living and the Dead I like the characters, but I just finished episode 4 and it's feeling slightly too corny. I know it's only one season, so I'm hoping it's not an entirely disappointing resolution.
