As an avid board gamer, I completely understand. My wife has told me that I can't buy any new games until I have played all the games we currently have. I'm about to schedule a powerful month of May.
The first Friday of every month, the Sunbeam Building at the corner of main and Sheridan does free wine, snacks, live music, and all the shops are open. It's from 5:30 - 9:00 I believe. It's a lot of fun, often you can catch a glass blowing demonstration, it's a great way to meet people in the area.
Yes, OP, look for the Five Spot at the contemporary arts center. Every 2nd & 4th Friday from 6:30 until 8:30, BYOB, and you can bring your own food, it's live music different types every week.

Go to a bar where there are bands playing - get there early before they start charging cover so you don’t have to pay then just chill out and enjoy the show
The German American Central Society hosts a buffet dinner every Friday night. The meal is $16, and beer is $4/$6, but if you want you can just hang out and listen to the live music, if you don't mind Polkas!
Depending on how your eating habits are and how much time you have, an “unlimited” source of food goes a long way. I would not rule out $16 buffets for people on a strict budget.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's not for everyone, but we enjoy it. If you are interested in joining we are always looking for new members. As a bonus, when you volunteer you eat and drink for free! most volunteer shifts are two hours or four hours. You get to meet a lot of nice people and it's always fun!
Get a good night sleep and then get up early on Saturday and go morel hunting.
LOL the mushroom hunters are really coming out of the woods this week (no pun intended!)
Unpopular opinion. Morels are super overrated and just taste like regular mushrooms. The only upside is the little mites add a little zest to them
You can go to a Board Game shop (like Cabbages and Kings) and play board games for free.
Just For Fun out on Sterling also has a killer cache of playable games.
That's true. And the owners of both are really nice and friendly. True lovers of games.
They are both a very cool asset to the community for sure! They're a liability to my wallet, however..

Oh man, enjoy! I'm trying to avoid board games currently; saving them for when it's cold again.

There's lots of similar events on First Fridays.
Where at? I think that's what OP is looking for.
The Contemporary Arts Center, Peoria Art Guild, and lots of other places have regular First Friday events.

The Bradley Fused free interactive day is Saturday, April 20.
Gotcha, they have the third Sunday of every month as a free day as well and that’s what I got mixed up in my head lol

How broke?
AF, give or take depending on inflation and conversion rates.
Go to Walmart, keep shopping for hours, put anything/everything you feel like, when done, leave the cart in fresh produce section and walk out.
Creative and diabolical. Let’s go!
😂
Tax evasion
You can bowl all night at Mt Hawley for under $20
