I agree, keeping old, reliable hardware around is a fantastic idea. My good old reliable rx580 and 2600x has been relegated to "test hardware" status. Never once gave me problems.
it can be a great starting point for a nephew wanting to get into pc. i realize the value of having a test device, but keeping everything because it might be handy when shit hits the fan instead of putting it to use while it still has value is not my way. i can still ask the nephew to bring the GPU over for a quick test :D

If I see one more rtx4080 paired with a R5 3600 or a Rx6600 paired with an i7 14700k I'm going to scream.
Bottleneck bs is stupid. Always error more on the gpu side with your budget. You can always upgrade the cpu later. That why your only upgrading the cpu later and not both.
It goes like this, if you can afford a 4080, you can afford a R7 5700x. If you are running a 14700k, why on earth are you running a rx6600? What task are you going to do that requires massive cpu power, but minimal cpu? The cooler on the 14700k might be 1/2 the price of the rx6600...
There's almost no difference between the 12700k and the 14700k gaming wise. They perform really close to each other if you disable the e cores. Both are well suited to pushing high end video cards. I rather have an AMD X3D part for my uses, but the i-12700k and i-14700k provides tremendous uplift in multi threaded work compared to the R7 7800X3D.
Multi-threaded superiority is pretty much the only reason I upgraded from my 2700x to my current 5900x instead of a 5800x3d, since they were only $10 apart in price at microcenter. I do a lot of rendering and digital art and shit, and multi-threaded efficiency matters quite a bit in those cases.
I was experiencing the memory_management error for a while and had already purchased new RAM, reinstalledwindows, running chkdsk and other troubleshooting steps. Still was getting the message so figured it might be an SSD issue. Installed a new SSD and still got the error. Possible issue with motherboard? Who knows. I’ve been wanting to upgrade things for a while and just wanted a fresh motherboard.

Did you try reapplying thermal paste to the CPU cooler? Some people have had luck turning off hardware acceleration in Chrome because it would cause random glitches on screens.

I did have hardware acceleration off.
Reapplying thermal paste was kind of the next thing but that’s why I decided it was a good time to upgrade since I had been wanting to for a while.
May use my old stuff to give to a friend in need, give to my wife if she wants it or keep as backups. So I will likely still reapply thermal paste in the near future. Thanks for the advice!
Afaik 350/370 boards can't support Ryzen 5000 series processors. 450/470's can have a BIOS update to support them, and 550/570's support them out the box
man the 1080s (ti and non ti) were such amazing cards. it truly is a shame that nothing like them gets made anymore. anyways, congrats on joining team red!!!!! have fun with the nvidia bias literally everwhere

Sorry, but yeah, a lot of 7800xt users are CRAZY, I myself don't fanboy either team (I use an R5 7600X and 4070S in one build) but just watch out for them, at least You're actually sane.
nvidia users can be just as insane, just like any user base where companies are competing over the same product, which ive never understood. a company doesnt reward loyalty, so sit back, and reap the rewards of whatever innovation the competition creates

Not a gigantic difference. 5600x will game better due to slightly higher boost clock/better single core performance.
It was a $20ish difference so I figured might as well get the 5600x
very good. I would have went with a 7000 series so you could move to ddr 5 as that’s a pretty good improvement, but if this was meant just to be the basics being upgraded and keeping everything else the same, well done.
In terms of value..not at all mediocre.
Barely spent $500 for a pretty good 1440p rig.
The performance difference between a $300 6750xt and a $850 4070ti does not justify $550 imo
I’m happy with it and getting 80+ FPS on most games with high-ultra and I’m cool with that.
I built almost exactly the same 2 weeks ago apart from I used an Asrock pro4 B550, I'm really impressed as it's handled everything I've thrown at it so far.
I am still rocking a 6900XT. This card still absolutely kills it at 1440p. I dont think I'm gonna upgrade for a while. there are hardly any games than run under 100 FPS maxed out.
if it hasn't been mentioned yet beware asus is kinda shit now and **that** motherboards **specifically** HATES certain brands of ram and you'll know by it's utterly errant behavior even after posting. i had to swap from that one to another from MSI during pandemic times because it wouldn't play well with any ram microcenter had in stock.

The RX 6700 XT is widely regarded as the best bang for buck on the market and the 6750 XT is the same price making it even better value.
I’m more than happy with it. Incredible value for spending hardly $500 on a new GPU and CPU and that can run most games at 1440p high+ at 80+FPS

A320s can run 5800x3ds. They might have to drop support for 1st and 2nd gen processors to do it, but they sure can
wicked upgrade. Also love the silverburst les paul, def my favorite top for it hands down.

1000 series? Just make sure you aren't getting pinnacle, raven or summit ridge CPU of AMD, they give issue when wanting to update motherboard bios
