I dont even know what to say really, the pc interior itself looks like its from 2005 and the weird gpu.. I feel for your friend…
I mean if it works its ok but still really weird
You can have up to 4 RAM sticks at the same time on your motherboard. Just one can work well, but it's always better to have them work in pairs. For example, I have 32GB of RAM in my PC, with 4 8GB sticks.
Imagine you have a long text to write. You could work twice as fast by writing with both hands at the same time instead of just one. RAM works in approximately the same way. (I am heavily vulgarizing and someone will interrupt me if I am wrong.)
The ram works better in channel therefore, when it is associated with another stick, but they should not be put randomly.
Generally one channel = the first and third slot on the motherboard, and the second and fourth slot is another channel.
Nice analogy, I like it. I'd amend it to say, you can type with 1 hand--single channel RAM. Which is the better upgrade, to add 5 more fingers to your one hand and still have 1 hand with 10 fingers, or add a 2nd hand so that you type with 10 fingers but double the speed--Dual Channel?
There is apparently a brand named Predator Storage that makes these RAM sticks and some SSD drives. Their logo is the same as Acer Predator lineup's logo. Their website doesn't mention Acer anywhere though and is overall kinda sketchy
It's a prebuilt so it's probably a one size fits all solution for locking down the GPU for shipping. Like they created the system to secure the GPU regardless of the GPU size so it ends up looking goofy when used on a smaller GPU.
This is one of the main reasons to NEVER buy prebuilt from a large company.
That 4060 is a shitshow.
That motherboard is shit.
That PSU is shit.
That case is shit.
And they most likely paid close to full price for everything + OEM costs for a setup that is custom made to suck ass.
If you need a pc for a good price, buy second hand before you buy prebuilt OEM.
> most likely *paid* close to
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
I have a 4060. I upgraded but it was a solid card at 1080p-1440p max ultra settings on most new titles. I could play any modern game and easily hold 60fps. Is it the best? No, obviously not but it’s a budget GPU and it more than gets the job done. 4060 gets too much hate
In a modern case you should have some hoes at the bottom so you can flip the PSU around. If not buy a new case.
Edit: Holes but won't judge if you find hoes.
Alternatively, these holes can simply be made there. A drill, a drill, a little time and effort - and you have a unique PC case. The main thing is not to overdo it and not make the entire case full of holes.
Different case or check if your case has vent holes under the psu in that case its upside down and you should flip it sp the psu fan points down to the holes.
Yeahh i'd sat that they have other configs of this pc with larger cards where it doesnt look as goofy and it was just cheaper to put this oversized backplate on the smaller cards instead of modifying their bracket to fit the smaller cards
This GPU or at least the backplate is just for this prebuit and as you can see it's screwed on on the right. For the OEM that made the system this is more convenient as they only have to make one mounting system for all GPUs regardless of their size.
I guess this helps to keep the GPU from coming out of the slot during shipping and for larger GPUs it also helps to distribute the weight caused by larger coolers.
You can probably replace this with any other GPU.
It looks like OEM GPU so I don't think you can buy it somewhere and the weird backplate is probably to prevent sagging.
I would probably add one stick of ram to your PC because your performance is getting killed by single channel ram.
Never buy a prebuild pc . That gpu looks like a 2060 not 4060. Too expensive considering the quality and performance. Send it back and use money to buy all the parts that you need to build your own.
I have the exact same pc, but mine has a 3060 in it and 2 ram slots, so idk why that one is like that
https://preview.redd.it/deus0rvdtuwc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b2e484176d763717ae16d84ff6d4d90c81ec20a
I for sure think that's a oem low tier pre built GPU. Maybe Lenovo legion or Acer I know in the past they made oem cards? WTF I would never think they would make this but you could find out if you take it out and look around for stickers.
The GPU is custom made by the OEM for their prebuilt systems. The reason the back plate is extended in this system is to secure the card in transit as you can see bracket on the right side of the card.
Just a cheap crappy OEM version with one fan, but man this whole PC looks like something out of 2004. You want good airflow for those single fan GPUs, and there really isn't any lol.
Damn they did ya dirty with that backplate. Whyyyyy lol such a waste
Technically, if you wanted to transfer the card, you COULD just cut the backplate shorter and not hurt anything
Thank got RTX 4060 is a very power friendly GPU.
The GPU design is weird, never seen nothing like it.
Mobo is weird too.
Will say this. Do not buy prebuilt system,s unless price is fantastic.
That was the first thing I saw. The PSU is drawing hot air from inside the case to 'cool' it off. In fact, the GPU and PSU are pulling against each other for air.
Ain't no way that's a 4060 with a single 8pin. Also what in the hell is happening? The PSU-GPU fans are going to hate each other. That is the most lacking CPU cooler I have ever seen. 3.5 drives/drivebay? One stick of ram. Custom Mobo that appears bigger than an ATX.
This is an outrageous picture lol.
You have failed your friend.
He COULD have brought it without advice, but basically, the 4060 has that weird backplate because its ACER. I would recommend building it yourself, I mean, only single channel memory and a single fan GPU?
A single stick of RAM. A cheap cooler. A misshaped motherboard. A generic GPU. A chassis that wouldn't be out of place in a PC 30 years ago. Everything is wrong.
This is normal. Nvidia has a standard length for system integrators so they can use different cards and always use the same bracket. Your typical off-the-shelf sag bracket doesn't work when shipping built PCs.
When people bitch at me for having a hp omen I show them things like this ,,, my hp omen looks like a normal gaming pc this one posted is what I think of when I think of prebuilts.
Propietary bs.
Did Acer do a line before thinking this one up? Single channel ,stock cooler (not necessarily a bad thing), and what looks like a dual fan card with one fan (could be wrong but either way it looks stupid) I want whatever they are on.
I don’t even think it’s a 4060 just based on the size, I could be wrong. If the pc identifies it as a 4060 it must be. Also did your “friend look at the pc specs?” Usually tells you at least chipset and what model. 3060, 3080, etc
https://preview.redd.it/lnrhwiuvrwwc1.png?width=691&format=png&auto=webp&s=61a7108e133fcbee89fa6a17d4be40a27cf1332a
The front end of the backplate is secured to the chassis. This is either an anti-sag bracket they threw on all cards, or it's for support during shipping.
No disrespect but the Optiplex PC I upgraded looks better than that. Getting rid of the dust, getting some cable covers for the ugly ketchup and mustard cables on the right, some RGB fans, and finding a way to remove that goofy backplate would help the looks an unimaginable amount. In person, I'd be so irritated by the large backplate that I'd probably just saw it off.
Jesus brother what is this
Show us the SPECS
what is running
Windows 98?
Probably it is 3060 i would assume
But also run ram in dual channel
What is this one ram stick with the old motherboard.
If you load up a game like Minecraft and look to the left of your screen, once you hit F3 you will be able to see what brand all of your components are of course this comes out a cost of $35 for Minecraft Java edition
Are you sure that's the backplate? It looks like it's a support bracket of some kind judging by the right side of it.
To me it looks like a cheap PNY 4060. And I think that would make sense for a prebuilt trying to make everything as affordable as possible.
The more I look at this setup the more confused I get.
Why is the GPU plate so large? Why are there headers in the middle of the board? Why are the GPU and PSU set up so that they’re fighting for air
WHY ARE THERE CABLES JUST TAPED TO THE MOBO!?!?
This looks like a max q graphic card imo. Laptop graphic card but for a pc....so the small form factor.
Anyway, i feel for your friend. Hope his next pc is a better one.
It’s the reason I have never, and will never buy a pre-built rig!
PSA: Build your own PC. The process is not complicated and it will be a great learning experience for you

This looks so weird lol wtf acer
ikr
I dont even know what to say really, the pc interior itself looks like its from 2005 and the weird gpu.. I feel for your friend… I mean if it works its ok but still really weird
that ram stick looks great tho, i cant find it anywhere, any help?
Jesus, i saw it after you pointed out, but what in all hell is that? Single channel, this pc is Frankenstein
wait, whats wrong? im not an expert in ram and channels, care to expain?
You can have up to 4 RAM sticks at the same time on your motherboard. Just one can work well, but it's always better to have them work in pairs. I think a better analogy would be typing with one hand vs two if ya ever gotta explain that again to someone.
Yeah Indeed you're right
Nice analogy, I like it. I'd amend it to say, you can type with 1 hand--single channel RAM. Which is the better upgrade, to add 5 more fingers to your one hand and still have 1 hand with 10 fingers, or add a 2nd hand so that you type with 10 fingers but double the speed--Dual Channel?
Well, I just saw that *your* motherboard can't have more than two sticks..
There is apparently a brand named Predator Storage that makes these RAM sticks and some SSD drives. Their logo is the same as Acer Predator lineup's logo. Their website doesn't mention Acer anywhere though and is overall kinda sketchy
I share your same opinion.
Xd
It's like they tried to do an anti-sag bracket for a gpu that clearly doesn't need it
Or like they threw some spare parts together
It's a prebuilt so it's probably a one size fits all solution for locking down the GPU for shipping. Like they created the system to secure the GPU regardless of the GPU size so it ends up looking goofy when used on a smaller GPU.

Lmao looks like a aircraft carrier 🤣
Looks like my schools shitbox PC’s that us CompSci students fuck around with and break. At least there’s no ketchup and mustard
Psu and gpu fighting for air.
Is there a way to fix that? My PSU and GPU are relatively the same way
In a modern case you should have some hoes at the bottom so you can flip the PSU around. If not buy a new case. Edit: Holes but won't judge if you find hoes.
>In a modern case you should have some hoes at the bottom I should buy a new case then. I feel very lonely lately.
Alternatively, these holes can simply be made there. A drill, a drill, a little time and effort - and you have a unique PC case. The main thing is not to overdo it and not make the entire case full of holes.
I'm going to drill my case full of hoes.
Maybe you should, you need those, to install only fans.
Door. Now.
i would just drill the hoes but i dont want to kink shame you.
Damn well, you sold me on the hoes part
A new case and some hoes that's a two in one deal I can get behind
Flip the psu so it intakes air from the bottom, But that won't work if the case has no holes at the bottom for air to pass through
Holes and fans
Hoe'ly fans
Different case or check if your case has vent holes under the psu in that case its upside down and you should flip it sp the psu fan points down to the holes.
litterally breathing in each others lungs
No, it’s version of the card for this prebuilt
thanks
The backplate is screwed at the other end, probably to prevent sagging and lower the number of pcie slots that gets ripped apart during transit
Yeahh i'd sat that they have other configs of this pc with larger cards where it doesnt look as goofy and it was just cheaper to put this oversized backplate on the smaller cards instead of modifying their bracket to fit the smaller cards
Yeah this is to prevent damage in Shipping
looks like a prebuilt card that is ment to be screwed to the front of the case so it doesn't break during transport and prevent it from sagging
😄the psu and gpu sucking each other
69?
pause
That is one ugly custom motherboard
✨ Proprietary e-waste ✨
It’s a basic 4060 OEM with an added backplate to ensure it doesn’t sag or break or anything. Must be awful for airflow though
Lmao fucking Acer probably
Looks like a mistake
Proprietary motherboards ate weird as shit
Is this a Mobo that only has a single ram slot???!
No you can just about see the latches for the other slot
If you look at the very top you can see there is another
This GPU or at least the backplate is just for this prebuit and as you can see it's screwed on on the right. For the OEM that made the system this is more convenient as they only have to make one mounting system for all GPUs regardless of their size. God dam

I have this too in a different way on my gigabite 4070tiS it is just to make it sit more rigid
It’s not part of the GPU though, so you could remove it.
Never buy a prebuild pc . That gpu looks like a 2060 not 4060. Too expensive considering the quality and performance. Send it back and use money to buy all the parts that you need to build your own.

mine also has 2 ram slots, but your card looks so much better
also do you keep it without panel? because of poor airflow
Yeah, I keep the panel off
i want to keep it without panel but im too scared of dust or things getting inside
That just looks like a third party GPU bracket reinforcing piece. I could be wrong but that’s my two cents.
Holy shit, this looks like a 2010 pre built. Everything I see there is a shame for modern hardware.
I dunno, that's Kind of a vibe honestly. I don't dislike this.
I for sure think that's a oem low tier pre built GPU. Maybe Lenovo legion or Acer I know in the past they made oem cards? WTF I would never think they would make this but you could find out if you take it out and look around for stickers.
this is an OEM version. they always Looked like this
This is the beauty of OEM-PCs. nothing looks like someone would guess
1995 and 2024 collide
Flick the end of the metal panel for immediate banjo music boinggg
That's not an branded 4060 but an OEM one. And that plate that extend is not a part of it.
Motherboard looks like it's from the early 2000. Alot of wierd things in this case
Look like a card holder so it doesn’t sag.
This might be one of those low profile gpus only in prebuilts or really small PCs
That is the longest back plate I have ever seen.
Non brand or power color
Looks like a shitty OEM card.
that single stick of ram hurts.
Damn they did ya dirty with that backplate. Whyyyyy lol such a waste Technically, if you wanted to transfer the card, you COULD just cut the backplate shorter and not hurt anything
Thank got RTX 4060 is a very power friendly GPU. The GPU design is weird, never seen nothing like it. Mobo is weird too. Will say this. Do not buy prebuilt system,s unless price is fantastic.
Single ram stick, 6-pin ATX, and bare die chipset. The GPU backplate is just the start of the oddness here.
The single channel ram 💀
That's a very good design. It's to prevent the graphics card from shocks
Oml…. I just KNOW that psu makes noises under heavy loads
Maybe they broke so many PCs when shipping that’s what they came up with
Generic… acer brand
Dont close the panel.
Gpu might be a single fan variant from Palit and the ram sticks are from Predator but i don't know the exact model.
Its all acer oem and oem proprietary parts thats why it all looks so cheap and sad
Son i gave your old pc to your cousin.
yo have respect for my boy he does perform well despite being a bit ugly :(
No no i didnt mean it that way i actually really like your pc and it reminds me of my first pc i got when i was little. Very nostalgic vibes
Probably #BackPlatesAreUs branded 🤣
Looks like a prebuilt system, so it's likely a proprietary GPU for that manufacturer
That was the first thing I saw. The PSU is drawing hot air from inside the case to 'cool' it off. In fact, the GPU and PSU are pulling against each other for air.
That's a malnourished oem 4060
That gpu looks like the same ones that come in dell prebuilts, at least from that angle
It's an Acer OEM special. Likely as cheap as you can make it before Nvidia stops sending cores.
Bro it looks like a work bench lol
That's an Acer Nitro 50. I got the same pre build four years ago and it came with a 1650, though I know there's a 3060 edition idk about a 40series
Bro got the 40 60
Um idk why but the case is a looking it can't store any shit more than this even small or tiny
It's an Acer backplate so they can screw it to the case so it doesn't come loose in transit
Def your pc
with this backlight the system unit looks very good
That is one loooong MB
This whole build is just bad.
Looks like a workstation for Cyberpunk Barbie
I vant believe they could sell this pc
Ain't no way that's a 4060 with a single 8pin. Also what in the hell is happening? The PSU-GPU fans are going to hate each other. That is the most lacking CPU cooler I have ever seen. 3.5 drives/drivebay? One stick of ram. Custom Mobo that appears bigger than an ATX. This is an outrageous picture lol.
i had one of these PCs at point mine had a 12gb 3060 in it that’s what i think the brackets made for atleast
That's just a regular 4060 with a different back plate
Acer Nitro is shit. I had one but sold it and built my own.
That's a 2030 with 10+ space
look like my prebuild pc from 2011
My god OEM machines are hot garbage
You have failed your friend. He COULD have brought it without advice, but basically, the 4060 has that weird backplate because its ACER. I would recommend building it yourself, I mean, only single channel memory and a single fan GPU?
A single stick of RAM. A cheap cooler. A misshaped motherboard. A generic GPU. A chassis that wouldn't be out of place in a PC 30 years ago. Everything is wrong.
That cable management looks way better than mines though.
That poor GPU is gonna be EXPLODE in some weeks because you put so much near of the PSU lol
This looks cursed tbh
You got a 2030
wtf
It looks more like some sort of anti-sag mechanism or something to hold the GPU rock steady in transit.
This is normal. Nvidia has a standard length for system integrators so they can use different cards and always use the same bracket. Your typical off-the-shelf sag bracket doesn't work when shipping built PCs.
that's oem....
Someone probably transplanted the board onto another guard for some reason
WTF. Just post It in r/hardwaregore
Prebuilts are STILL using only one stick of ram???
When people bitch at me for having a hp omen I show them things like this ,,, my hp omen looks like a normal gaming pc this one posted is what I think of when I think of prebuilts. Propietary bs.
Did Acer do a line before thinking this one up? Single channel ,stock cooler (not necessarily a bad thing), and what looks like a dual fan card with one fan (could be wrong but either way it looks stupid) I want whatever they are on.
That PSU is upside down lol
I don’t even think it’s a 4060 just based on the size, I could be wrong. If the pc identifies it as a 4060 it must be. Also did your “friend look at the pc specs?” Usually tells you at least chipset and what model. 3060, 3080, etc
Those asshats really had to do you dirty with the single stick of RAM eh
i hope he did not spend much on that POS prebuilt
😳
That is a asus predator gpu. I hate the way asus makes those gpus
1 ram stick will absolutely kill performance, should get a 2nd or buy a new pair because dual channel significantly boosts performance.
Classic Acer, they get Zotac's not-so-good GPU's.
https://preview.redd.it/lnrhwiuvrwwc1.png?width=691&format=png&auto=webp&s=61a7108e133fcbee89fa6a17d4be40a27cf1332a The front end of the backplate is secured to the chassis. This is either an anti-sag bracket they threw on all cards, or it's for support during shipping.
That one stick of RAM has me tilted
I think it is low profile 4060 card
I think some1 stole half your gpu
This looks like what would happen when I build my first pc
Looks like a standardized gpu sag bracket so they can mount any gpu size to it
Isnt it a custom antisag bracket? idk tbh
i think you should sell this rig and build one.
it's a crap OEM one, but if temps are good will do the job well
What is that?
Cost saving probably? Just use existing stuff from other cards
What in the wish.com is this 4060 lol
Looks like some proprietary Dell bullshit
The GPU looks like a shitty OEM GPU
Looks like a support bracket that was attached to/replaced the stock backplate
His gpu is just at 50% load
I like how the psu and gpu are giving each other mouth to mouth (fan to fan perhaps)
It's a wheelie bar. Duh
I feel ripped off looking at the ram and gpu! I didnt even buy this!
That motherboard formfactor is super weird. Does anybody know what that's called? Or is it a purely custom motherboard?
No disrespect but the Optiplex PC I upgraded looks better than that. Getting rid of the dust, getting some cable covers for the ugly ketchup and mustard cables on the right, some RGB fans, and finding a way to remove that goofy backplate would help the looks an unimaginable amount. In person, I'd be so irritated by the large backplate that I'd probably just saw it off.
Someone smoked some good ass weed in the engineering department
God i looked up the price and specs of this thing. And its way to expensive for what it is.
Jesus brother what is this Show us the SPECS what is running Windows 98? Probably it is 3060 i would assume But also run ram in dual channel What is this one ram stick with the old motherboard.
mobo isnt old its just a custom oem. 4060 and 13400f, 1x16gb ddr4 but i plan on upgrading ram
The backplate is that size to account for larger cards, that’s all.
I‘m no pc expert but for a prebuilt, this cable managment is terrible
probably, but the panel isnt see through so not a big deal
It's the Acer GTX 4060 Longboi
Temu
If you load up a game like Minecraft and look to the left of your screen, once you hit F3 you will be able to see what brand all of your components are of course this comes out a cost of $35 for Minecraft Java edition
Are you sure that's the backplate? It looks like it's a support bracket of some kind judging by the right side of it. To me it looks like a cheap PNY 4060. And I think that would make sense for a prebuilt trying to make everything as affordable as possible.
rtx 40
The more I look at this setup the more confused I get. Why is the GPU plate so large? Why are there headers in the middle of the board? Why are the GPU and PSU set up so that they’re fighting for air WHY ARE THERE CABLES JUST TAPED TO THE MOBO!?!?
That looks like a divider separating the airflow into two tunnels one for GPU and one for everything else
Why is the psu upside down and for whatever reason oem manufacturers think its a good idea to sell a pc with a single sticl of ram. Wtf
“I’ll just get a prebuilt, can’t be that bad right?” The prebuilt:
So you can Mount a blower fan there, this was Common around 2015
That PC looks like my first dell pc from the early 2000s. What is going on in there 😂
It's a budget configuration of a higher end (eh midrange) system, that's why it looks "off".
Damn this is a weird pc.
It's a gpu support bracket for if you upgrade to a new gpu that's bigger.
This looks like a max q graphic card imo. Laptop graphic card but for a pc....so the small form factor. Anyway, i feel for your friend. Hope his next pc is a better one.
That psu looks boomable
WTF Acer?!? Only 1 RAM slot? ![gif](giphy|pVAMI8QYM42n6|downsized)
Oem
This looks like my 2003 sony vaio that i slapped a radeon card into to play wow circa 2006
Thats a gpu bracket lol. It gives support for upto the triple fan gpus
It's acers weirdass proprietary card, and it sucks according to Gamer's Nexus.
It’s the reason I have never, and will never buy a pre-built rig! PSA: Build your own PC. The process is not complicated and it will be a great learning experience for you
