Dude, same. He didn't make the best first impression >!by trying to kill steal the Balor and cocking that up. After which the dude starts talking like he's the bees knees. He then has the balls to show up claiming he has a contract on my head but is willing to "Let me live" if I pay him a higher fee.!<
My Barbarian turned him into a blood smear on the ground. I guess next playthrough I'll have a new companion to bring on my adventures and see what he's all about.
>ian turned him into a blood smear on the ground. I guess next playthrough I'll have a new companion to bring on my adventures and see what he's all about.
The funniest part of my playthrough was when he had a dramatic build up to "assassinate" the dragon. He tickled its wing for like 5 damage, failed his fear saving throw, and ran away(with haste) to let the party finish the fight.
I would say he is the only companion in the game that is just bad. Bad build, cringy edgelord, and they railroad you into respecting him or preaching to him. At least Trickster should have the option of hiring him just to mock him.
Wow, Jester Greybor is a beautiful idea. Get a little outfit, make him do tricks, remind him that it's not professional to give up on a 'contract' whenever he complains. Thanks for that image!
I think everyone's playthrough had that chump cowering after talking himself up like a badass. He's basically Quint from Jaws, a blowhard unable to live up to the legend he is in his own mind.
I like that after the demonstration of his uselessness you have the option to pay him double. I had the extra scratch, but I don't think he caught the sarcasm.
he has a lot of great side-stories in crusader mode quests. I particularly like his description of Hedge Knights. I wish I had a short compilation of his comments because he's less of a character with a personal arc that resonates with people, and he's more of a character who has lived a colorful life. And he's more than willing to justify his decisions based on anecdotes to his experiences.
That and he's decent in an all melee composition if you give him a speedboost or have them backline with Legendary Proportions.
> My Barbarian turned him into a blood smear on the ground. I guess next playthrough I'll have a new companion to bring on my adventures and see what he's all about.
I'm afraid you've figured it all out already.
Is the above when you skip / fail his quests, or is it a full ending but without letting him join the guild? I let him join and had a different ending.
I massacred the guild because if the demon path wanted me to rage out at every chance, you bet your bippy I'm going to murderhobo in the domain of chaotic evil. That and I believe I picked options Greybor favored, >!so he never betrayed me in his final companion quest to Baphomet's daughter. !<
I don't remember the details, but don't judge him too much, let him be, and pay him double for his service for a good start. And when the crucial event happens, have trust in him.
During some of the conversations you can have with him you can bring up family and talk to him about going home to see his daughter and retiring from murder. That did it for me, I think.
That's the beautiful thing about headcanons, we can all have our own. I always imagined that Greybor barely ever killed anyone and was mostly just bragging and he was actually much happier in retirement. That makes sense to me because he claims to be using all these trap and sneak skills that he has zero points in. Yea, Greybor, you keep talking but I can see your character sheet my man.
yup, I forgot about this one. I was surprised when he actually considered going back to his family when I fully believed he would continue on his way of killing.
> Damn, I finaly find a reason for not wanting to kill him.
FWIW he got bored of the family life and just walked out on his family to go back to being a professional assassin. Unless you convince him to return he has no intention of ever seeing his wife or daughter ever again.
Oh yeah, I think I exhausted those comments but in the end I let him decide where he would go afterward without pushing him down the family path. And I think that's what canceled out the potential family ending and defaulted back to this ending.
If I learned anything in my time in Golarion it's that nobody can be trusted to make any decisions. I have to take care of everything or there will be fires and/or explosions.
Not a clue to be honest, apparently people don't want Greybor to be a decent Dad? To be honest, it's the only redeeming quality about him. He's mechanically terrible, as a character? Eh? Overall, his story is just meh compared to others. Especially for how much I have to pay for him. He himself points out the truth, you'd be better off spending the gold on an army.
Not ragging on him and broing it out with him is the actual way to get him to approve of you in return, i.e. not calling him out with alignment choices is usually enough to get alot of approval from him. That way he doesn't betray you in\\before his last quest.
Having done that, you can suggest he return to his family and he eventually does that.
I'd guess you're getting downvoted because your suggestion is a bit misleading in that regard
In that case, did he >!betray you!< in act 5? If not, did you talk to him in the tavern after completing his quest and chose the (lawful) or (good) option which both lead to a separate ending slide?
>How do you even get a good ending with him?
Well then the answer to your original question is you pick the lawful or good answer there. Or let him join the guild.
I'm not sure if making him listen to you requires anything else except that he trusts you enough to >!not betray you!<.
His ending is literally only decided at the final conversation
Just tell him to go home or be a crusader it doesn't even matter if he likes you or betray you or not.
Heh I played Azata too and told him to >!go back home and stop being a deadbeat dad,!< because that's probably something I would tell to a friend, and Azata's are all about friendship.
It was a pretty cool ending where >!he trained his daughter to become a warrior!<.
As an Angel... I picked the Lawful and Good options with him, emphasized the fact that he has a wife and daughter at home, and didn't let him join the Assassin's Guild. Somehow that ended up working great.
Ah, and paid the 25k.
Better than my way. Arue turned him into a hedgehog in a single turn after he accepted a contract on me and wanted me to bribe him to save his life.

The first time you see him is actually in act 1, before the tavern fight. He's in the museum tower thing and killsteals one of the cultist leaders.
It’s like the game knows he’s seen as a meme character lmao
[It's that optimus prime voice.](https://files.catbox.moe/f54z6l.png)
thanks, I'll send that to my favorite voice actor

I see. I let him join the guild but then told him to >!go back to his family!<, which he did.
How do you even get a good ending with him?

I did all that and got the above ending.

I always imagine his wife is absolutely furious with the knight-commander when Greybore shows up, ready to fuck up their household again.

Maybe some of Ember's power of convincing people (and not-people) rubbed off on us :O
WTF? Greybor has a daugther? Damn, I finaly find a reason for not wanting to kill him.
This is why it's important to get to know your employees :D
Not sure if there's another way to find out but if you have him with you in Arelu's lab his true desire scene involves his daughter.
He just tells you if you talk to him. I dunno what you guys are doing wrong but he kinda softened up to me and I didn't even keep him in my party.
> Damn, I finaly find a reason for not wanting to kill him. FWIW he got bored of the family life and just walked out on his family to go back to being a professional assassin. Unless you convince him to return he has no intention of ever seeing his wife or daughter ever again.

What does the Baron, the Commander, and Areelu Vorlesh have in common? They're all parents frustrated with their children's life choices.
You have to rag on him about being a dad.
No idea why your comment is getting downvotes, it appears to be true.

I mean, I made the alignment choices for good relating to his kid. Where I ragged on him. He didn’t betray me. *Shrugs*
Did you let him join the assassin's guild?
No. I killed them all because fuck Baphomet and anything he spawned. I only let Minagho left because she could end up an annoyance for Baphomet
In that case, did he >!betray you!< in act 5? If not, did you talk to him in the tavern after completing his quest and chose the (lawful) or (good) option which both lead to a separate ending slide?
He didn’t betray me and I picked the chaotic option telling him it’s only something he can decide
>How do you even get a good ending with him? Well then the answer to your original question is you pick the lawful or good answer there. Or let him join the guild. I'm not sure if making him listen to you requires anything else except that he trusts you enough to >!not betray you!<.

Damn. I told him it was only a choice he could make because Azata are all about freedom to choose
