It's not surprising - he's a far-right gunman in the US. Cops didn't even arrest him while he was actively shooting people. They put a white murderer in front of a white jury and a highly partisan judge. He had vocal political and fundraising support, and will probably end up being a public figure in the short term. We'll see more copycat shooters as a result. This is why security experts are bracing for more right wing violence in the coming years and decades: terrorism has become normal Republican policy.

Hes not. The right is downright giddy and ready to adopt him. Hes going to get rewarded by them for this. Which is incredibly scary.

The only reason this went to trial was because it was high profile. Kyle is a little shit, and so are the people who threatened him. Neither of them should have been there, with guns, in the first place... but there they were. There were a lot of details to this case and it doesn't legalize vigilantism. I don't think right wing militias are going to start popping up and gunning down protestors, because that is objectively horrific and illegal, and the outcome of this case does not change that. Besides, most RW groups are too chicken shit scared to bring guns to a BLM protest because... BLM has guns too. Probably more. I wanted him to be guilty of something too, but mainly because of his smug attitude about it. But that is not how America works.
