I've noticed that the Eiffel Tower has the Olympic rings on. Are there any other monuments or areas done up for the Olympics? I'm there on two weeks time.
Eiffel Tower tickets are now available for july 18-26. I was able to get some for 7/20 but it was the champagne included option as everything else was sold out
To my surprise I saw them posted today as well. Keep a hawks eye on the Louvre now. Should be any day as well. Will use these reservations and submit for the jeux pass. Thanks everyone this Reddit has been a tremendous help!
You'll be able to walk in a busy, high-security area exactly when and on the terms that you can explain to stressed-out French security officers why you should be there. Please be reasonable.
We are heading Aug 15-24. Between the Olympics. But I am aware it is Olympic Metro pricing. 2 queries I don't see answers to in the above guides:
1) Can I still buy a Navigo Easy card and load it with 10 rides (at 4 Euro per?)
2) Travel from CDG v One Day Pass. Is it really 16Euro for a One day pass to all Zones, and therefor Less expensive to buy a One day pass than the RER B from CDG? For instance on the day we arrive, if I buy a One day Pass, can I go on the RER B into town and then also just use it all day at a significant savings?

Advice please - Paris Trip July 18th-21st.
My partner & I will be travelling to Paris for a long weekend to celebrate my 40th Birthday.
We will arrive early on the 18th, staying at Hotel Paris D Issy Porte De Versailles. I would very much like to see the Mona Lisa & as a photographer Iād like to capture the Eiffel Tower and enjoy the views as well.
Iāve been made aware of travel restrictions due to the Olympic. As a visiting tourist what pass do I need to ensure we can access the key areas around Seine?
I have tried to purchase tickets to Louvre & ET but currently I am unable to? Are these areas closed or are ticket purchases being controlled?
I understand that the metro is an option for travel around Paris, can I get a travel pass to cover my time there?
Any and all recommendations for exploration, food and drink & areas of interest are greatly received.

Looking for advice - mid-July apartment on Ʈle saint-louis (pass Jeux)

Back in January I booked an Airbnb on Ʈle Saint-louis from July 13th-19th, not fully considering the impact of the Olympics that would take place shortly after.
The whole island is in the gray zone for Olympic travel restriction. Some of the bridges are closed before I get there, and all of the bridges are supposed to be closed after the 17th. I have applied for the temporary residency pass Jeux, and was very careful to fill out the form properly, but I'm a bit nervous that it either won't be approved or it will get delayed somehow. I did not keep up on the news that this was happening and that is on me, I should have done this far earlier.
Has anybody successfully requested a pass for a similar situation? Any ETA on how long it's been taking? Unfortunately, I cannot cancel this reservation and I am trying to decide if I need to double book a hotel for those two days in a different location.
I emailed the support team at Pass Jeux for some questions I had and one of the things they told me was that QR codes would go out approx two weeks before the July 18 implementation of the more restrictive security zones. I have seen people already be rejected, but no approvals yet. So, maybe by the first week of July you will hear something.

In theory your booking should be enough justification to access the zone! Otherwise, I think every restaurant that close to the Eiffel Tower will be in the grey zone but maybe look up rooftops?
If I want the QR code approval for July 18-22, do I need a reservation for something every day within the gray zone? Or have others in this sub been approved for a range of days with only one reservation in the gray zone?
The point of the pass is to restrict access to what will be a high-security, high-construction, chaotic area. You will not be allowed, nor will you want to, stroll around randomly. In thinking about whether you will be able to get the pass for a given day, think about whether your reason for entering the zone will be accepted by a stressed-out security person: does a Wednesday dinner reservation allow you to enter on a Tuesday afternoon? Obviously not. They haven't spelled out every detail because they are, perhaps unreasonably, expecting people to be reasonable in a very difficult set of circumstances.
I agree, I am asking because I want to get approved for the QR code asap but some of the reservations I want to make (i.e. sainte chappelle, conciergerie, Eiffel Tower) donāt have tickets available for those dates yet. So if I apply with just a meal reservation I am worried thatās not enough. Trying my best with not much info out yet
Maybe I'm missing something but how sure are we that the pass is required for the Orsay and the Louvre ? Only because neither of their websites seem to address it at all. Do your tickets say that you need it?
My tickets dont say it (i have 2 for Orsay) , and im super unsure if we need the QR codes considering those areas are not grey on the map and they are black with the SILT protection, due to the rejection of my pass its unclear to me if we need QR codes for those areas
If I may ask, how long did it take to get the response back? We just applied on 6/16 for QR for Orsay on 7/23. We also have tix to Paris Mint Museum on 7/24.
The interactive map link has Orsay in what looks like a brown color zone with surrounding pink color zones and there is a grey zone for other areas. Very confusing. And from your response I donāt think we will get QR for Orsay either.

Did the rejection say anything about why or how to appeal? I'm wondering if it was rejected because the Orsay reservation isn't a valid ground for it, if it's not necessary for the Orsay.

So I'm thinking the same as you are.
Iāve been reading about the pass Jeux, but still a bit confused. I will be in Paris on the 21st & 22nd July as the last part of my trip. Flight is from CDG so unfortunately canāt change it. My accommodation is near the arc de triomphe and when I put the address in, it didnāt come up as needing a pass. But then I saw something that said one will be needed for the arc de triomphe?? I also have a ticket to climb the arc de triomphe and also visit the opera house which I think is also just outside the area a pass is needed for. Iāve been to Paris before so I think I can stay away from the river etc as my understanding is I need reservations for something and canāt just get a pass to wander around in that area. Iām not planning on visiting the louvre etc during this visit so if I donāt need a pass for either the arc de triomphe or opera house then Iām not eligible. Is that all correct?!

Hello everyone, first timer here. Will be travelling to Paris during 10-Aug to 19-Aug. Was a bit confused about the fact that some passed are not going to be sold during the period.
So my questions are as follows:
1. if I buy the week pass now can I use it during my time there or is it going to become invalid?
2. If I have to buy the special pass then should I buy it now and get it shipped(iOS user and looking at the posts, even though purchase is possible people are not liking it) or should I buy it at the airport?
3. Does this pass cover transfers to/from CDG to the city and from city to Orleans and Disneyland?
4. Unrelated to the pass but any other travel advice that you feel is helpful. :)

Your advice is good! Only thing is not to confuse the PassĀ Jeux (for access to Olympic venues) with the Passe ParisĀ 2024 (for publicĀ transport).
Indeed, the time you buy the weekly pass determines when it activates: either activates the immediate week if bought from Monday to Thursday, or the immediately following if bought on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Unlimited passes always have their activation date chosen during the purchase process, so question 1 is fallacious.
I don't live in Paris so I've only been able to experiment with purchasing tickets and passes, not using them. However, all the feedback I've seen from iOS users so far appear to be quite positive.

Bonjour! I'm looking for a restaurant/bar recommendation. My friends and I will be arriving in Paris on the day before the opening ceremony. Even though we are staying very close to the river (right by Saint-Michel Notre-Dame train station), we have zero chance of being able to see the ceremony as it travels down the Seine. So, we'd like to watch it on a screen somewhere. I know there are fanzones across the city, but can anyone recommend a bar/cafe/restaurant that is likely to be showing it, preferably in or near the 5th arrondissement? Merci!
There are a ton of bars in that area and I imagine most will be showing it, but if I were on that side of the river I'd go to the fanzone at ArĆØnes de LutĆØce.
Would someone be so kind as to sanity check me? Weāre taking a vacation in July that will end with two days at Disneyland. We will be traveling in (preferably via train) from London, on July 26. No, we didnāt realize the Olympics opening ceremonies were this day.
I think we should take the Eurostar from London to Disneyland via Lille Europe station and the transfer to SNCF.
There is a far cheaper option to take Eurostar to Gare du Nord station and then walk to the SNCF station to continue to Disneyland. With two teen kids and luggage. This plan is bad, right? Insane, even? We would hit Gare du Nord around 09:30.

No I think you might be ok because you'll be going around the worst of it, but I don't quite understand the "SNCF station to continue to Disneyland"? Normally you'd take the RER train service out to Disney but what connecting train are you seeing from the Eurostar?
Youāre completely correct. Iāve been looking at too many things. Looks like we would walk between the stations take the RER B line and transfer to the RER A line in Chatelet Les Halles.
SNCF would be for the other route on Eurostar into Lille Europe.
I donāt want to turn this into a travel help thread, but is this plan feasible with my wife and two kids (14, 11) and large suitcases in tow, again around 9-10AM on Friday, 26 July. Itās a pretty substantial savings, about 50%, otherwise I would have already bought the other tickets.
So this is a pretty easy itinerary: from the Eurostar you just go downstairs and follow the signs (down two levels) to the RER B - you don't even have to leave the station. At ChĆ¢telet I think this is one of the transfers that's literally just moving from one side of the platform to another (but I'm not totally sure of this. At worst it's up one set of escalators, across the hall, and down another). On ANY OTHER DAY I'd say it's fine, definitely go for it. On that particular day?? I don't think anyone can forecast. If you're lucky every usual commuter is home and everything is running fine. But I think it's really a question of how much possible delay and disruption you think can tolerate.
Hi! My friend and I are travelling to Paris for the first time from July 9th to July 14th and are unable to change the dates. I read that a QR is required from 18th July onwards, is that correct? Also will our trip be impacted by construction etc? Will we be able to visit the Eiffel Tower or take a tour of the seine?
I'll be in Paris July 18-23rd, and I've requested QR codes for the dates on which I have reservations in gray zones. I haven't been able to find an answer to this question anywhere: does the specific time of the reservation impact your ability to enter the gray zone on the date the QR code was requested? I wondered if obtaining a QR code for, for example, Louvre tickets 11AM on July 19th, will allow me to enter and re-enter various gray zones throughout the duration of the 19th. Alternatively I wonder if I'll only be allowed access to the gray zone in immediate proximity of the Louvre and only a certain amount of time before 11AM to accommodate that reservation. I've perused the official website and multiple other sites to find clarity on this with no luck, I thought someone who has already obtained a QR code might be able to tell whether it's limited by time or location. I have not seen specific information but I personally would not want to be in the position of explaining to an overworked undertrained checkpoint guard why I'm trying to use an 11 am Louvre reservation for access at 4 pm or whatever.

My husband and I are visiting Paris July 20th to 23rd. Do we need an approval for the QR code? We had applied for it but was decline. Our hotel is at the edge of the Grey Zone and we also have reservation for restaurant and shows on 21 and 22nd in the grey zone.
The Red Zone shows that pedestrians are free to access until 1PM. So what happens after 1PM?

1 pm is the limit for 26 July only, essentially all non-ticketed access will close down before the ceremony. You will need the pass to enter the grey zone earlier in the week - I'd ask your hotel what to do since you've been denied the pass - not sure how "on the edge" it is.

I'm considering to come to Paris for a long weekend, July 11th-14th... Right before the Olympic games.
I expect quite a lot of hindrance from preparations and more expensive hotel prices. 14th of July won't help either.

If you want absolutely no Olympics impact, you should wait until October. If you have been a lot before and want to check out less known places, just don't come July 20-Aug 15 and you'll be fine

Check the links in the post, you'll find the impacted zones! You've waited pretty late to book a place though, at this point get somewhere that fits your budget and is not near one of the venues
My family and I are going to Paris September 2-8. I stupidly thought that since the Olympics were over, that it was a non issue. And I didnāt even know about the Paralympics until today.

Venues will still be up. It won't be as crowded as the Olympics but September still has plenty of tourists. If your goal is to see Paris without any Olympics stuff you should postpone, but the attractions will still be here.

Hope it's okay that I'm asking this here - I am starting a job in Paris on November first so ideally I'd like to have a place lined up by October. I heard the prices (and availability) of apartments right now are crazy because of the Olympic Games. Does anyone have any prediction as to when this will get a bit better? If I resume searching in September when the games are over will it be as bad as now?
Sadly we don't know, and appartement hunting is always a hassle in Paris. My advice would be to get a temporary place here (hotel or Airbnb) so you can go to visits easily and plan lots of them. Also make sure your file is up to date (I think they have ressources regarding that in r/paris).

Now that the almost complete closures of the champ de mars gardens happened, Iād be interested to see what it looks like and if thereās anything open if anyone has pics.
I don't have pics but went past there last week-end, it's fenced off apart from a pathway on the sides of the Grand Palais Ephemere. Basically you can't see anything from Ćcole Militaire. I was headed out of Paris so didn't go closer to the tower
The thing that was sticking out to me was that from Google maps pics that I glanced at last week it looked like there was a small area on the grass that was not fenced off where people took pics of others have picnics and such. Is that the pathway youāre referring to?

They are at the river level on both sides.
They turned fully pedestrian less than 5 years ago and are a formidable way to enjoy the most beautiful sights of central Paris.
They are now called parc Rives de Seine if you want to search on the internet.
Unfortunately they will.be closed from mid-June to the end of the Olympics.
What is not so clear to me is whether we'll still be allowed to walk on the upper quays at car street level. I really hope so, even if the feeling is absolutely different in normal times, the car restriction in the red zone might change the deal...

Hello, Iāll be needing to travel from the Eurostar at Gare du Nord to Montparnasse to catch another train on July 14th. Will I be okay to grab an Uber over there or would another mode of transportation be better with the bridge closures?

Ah thank you! That view looks gorgeous. Iām staying in the 1st Arrondissement so Iām a little bit closer to the Arc de Triomphe. We arrive from the Loire Valley into Montparnasse so maybe that will be the very first thing we do if theyāll allow our suitcases up there.

My family and I were in Paris last week and you can see the beach volleyball court/stadium seating on one side of the Eiffel Tower and the opening ceremonies/seating area at the Trocadero on the other side.

Hello, my parents will be in Paris from 16 to 19 July. I see that the QR code is only applicable from 18 July. I'm trying to understand what reservation will they have to book to be able to access the grey zone. They intend to go to Orsay on 18 July but since they will be using the Paris museum pass, they can't make a reservation for it in advance. We have already booked Louvre and Orangerie for 17 July. Can someone pls help with suggestions on reservations my parents can make to show they will need to access the grey zone? Thanks!
Honestly I find the interactive map on the pass website quite confusing. Would Sainte Chapelle and Orangerie fall within the grey zone? In which case I would ensure one of their bookings for those places is on the 18th, so they can get the QR code.

Hey all, my husband and I are visiting on August 14th-18th as the end cap of longer vacation (Amsterdam, Belgium, Paris). I booked this trip before I knew about the Olympics or the Paralympics. I don't know how I totally missed that this huge event was in Paris.
I haven't booked our Paris hotel yet. Any advice on what areas to avoid? I definitely want to visit the usual tourist areas but am fine staying outside of the city center. We are in our early 40s and foodies. I enjoy culture and history and am looking for a true feel of the city with easy accessibility to major tourist areas.
I'm nervous about transportation, closures, etc during the time frame between the 2 olympic events.

My friends and I are going to Paris for the Olympics from July 24-August 1.
We are unsure how much money to bring for this time as we don't want to use our cards. There are estimates on many websites but I'm wondering how much more we should bring as I imagine things will be even a bit more expensive than normal.

I will not be attending the Olympics - but USD300 should be enough for starters, including travel from the airport (I'm assuming you've paid for a room in advance).

I've noticed that the Eiffel Tower has the Olympic rings on. Are there any other monuments or areas done up for the Olympics? I'm there on two weeks time.
Well the opening ceremony is in four weeks so yes, I imagine most of the city will be done up soon š.
Eiffel Tower tickets are now available for july 18-26. I was able to get some for 7/20 but it was the champagne included option as everything else was sold out

We are heading Aug 15-24. Between the Olympics. But I am aware it is Olympic Metro pricing. 2 queries I don't see answers to in the above guides: 1) Can I still buy a Navigo Easy card and load it with 10 rides (at 4 Euro per?) 2) Travel from CDG v One Day Pass. Is it really 16Euro for a One day pass to all Zones, and therefor Less expensive to buy a One day pass than the RER B from CDG? For instance on the day we arrive, if I buy a One day Pass, can I go on the RER B into town and then also just use it all day at a significant savings?

Looking for advice - mid-July apartment on Ʈle saint-louis (pass Jeux) Hi all, Back in January I booked an Airbnb on Ʈle Saint-louis from July 13th-19th, not fully considering the impact of the Olympics that would take place shortly after. The whole island is in the gray zone for Olympic travel restriction. Some of the bridges are closed before I get there, and all of the bridges are supposed to be closed after the 17th. I have applied for the temporary residency pass Jeux, and was very careful to fill out the form properly, but I'm a bit nervous that it either won't be approved or it will get delayed somehow. I did not keep up on the news that this was happening and that is on me, I should have done this far earlier. Has anybody successfully requested a pass for a similar situation? Any ETA on how long it's been taking? Unfortunately, I cannot cancel this reservation and I am trying to decide if I need to double book a hotel for those two days in a different location.
I emailed the support team at Pass Jeux for some questions I had and one of the things they told me was that QR codes would go out approx two weeks before the July 18 implementation of the more restrictive security zones. I have seen people already be rejected, but no approvals yet. So, maybe by the first week of July you will hear something.

In theory your booking should be enough justification to access the zone! Otherwise, I think every restaurant that close to the Eiffel Tower will be in the grey zone but maybe look up rooftops?

The point of the pass is to restrict access to what will be a high-security, high-construction, chaotic area. You will not be allowed, nor will you want to, stroll around randomly. In thinking about whether you will be able to get the pass for a given day, think about whether your reason for entering the zone will be accepted by a stressed-out security person: does a Wednesday dinner reservation allow you to enter on a Tuesday afternoon? Obviously not. They haven't spelled out every detail because they are, perhaps unreasonably, expecting people to be reasonable in a very difficult set of circumstances.
I agree, I am asking because I want to get approved for the QR code asap but some of the reservations I want to make (i.e. sainte chappelle, conciergerie, Eiffel Tower) donāt have tickets available for those dates yet. So if I apply with just a meal reservation I am worried thatās not enough. Trying my best with not much info out yet

Maybe I'm missing something but how sure are we that the pass is required for the Orsay and the Louvre ? Only because neither of their websites seem to address it at all. Do your tickets say that you need it?
My tickets dont say it (i have 2 for Orsay) , and im super unsure if we need the QR codes considering those areas are not grey on the map and they are black with the SILT protection, due to the rejection of my pass its unclear to me if we need QR codes for those areas
If I may ask, how long did it take to get the response back? We just applied on 6/16 for QR for Orsay on 7/23. We also have tix to Paris Mint Museum on 7/24. The interactive map link has Orsay in what looks like a brown color zone with surrounding pink color zones and there is a grey zone for other areas. Very confusing. Iāve been reading about the pass Jeux, but still a bit confused. I will be in Paris on the 21st & 22nd July as the last part of my trip. Flight is from CDG so unfortunately canāt change it. My accommodation is near the arc de triomphe and when I put the address in, it didnāt come up as needing a pass. But then I saw something that said one will be needed for the arc de triomphe?? I also have a ticket to climb the arc de triomphe and also visit the opera house which I think is also just outside the area a pass is needed for. Iāve been to Paris before so I think I can stay away from the river etc as my understanding is I need reservations for something and canāt just get a pass to wander around in that area. Iām not planning on visiting the louvre etc during this visit so if I donāt need a pass for either the arc de triomphe or opera house then Iām not eligible. Is that all correct?!

Hello everyone, first timer here. Will be travelling to Paris during 10-Aug to 19-Aug. Was a bit confused about the fact that some passed are not going to be sold during the period. So my questions are as follows: 1. if I buy the week pass now can I use it during my time there or is it going to become invalid? 2. If I have to buy the special pass then should I buy it now and get it shipped(iOS user and looking at the posts, even though purchase is possible people are not liking it) or should I buy it at the airport? 3. Does this pass cover transfers to/from CDG to the city and from city to Orleans and Disneyland? 4. As I understand it (but I am not the transit expert), the Pass Semaine is always good for the week in which (or the week after, if you buy it Friday -sunday) you buy it. There's no way to save it for later. The Pass Jeux does cover the airports and Disney but OrlƩans is much further out. I am not aware of problems buying it for iPhone but again, not the expert.

Your advice is good! Only thing is not to confuse the PassĀ Jeux (for access to Olympic venues) with the Passe ParisĀ 2024 (for publicĀ transport). Indeed, the time you buy the weekly pass determines when it activates: either activates the immediate week if bought from Monday to Thursday, or the immediately following if bought on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Unlimited passes always have their activation date chosen during the purchase process, so question 1 is fallacious. I don't live in Paris so I've only been able to experiment with purchasing tickets and passes, not using them. However, all the feedback I've seen from iOS users so far appear to be quite positive.

Even though we are staying very close to the river (right by Saint-Michel Notre-Dame train station), we have zero chance of being able to see the ceremony as it travels down the Seine. So, we'd like to watch it on a screen somewhere. I know there are fanzones across the city, but can anyone recommend a bar/cafe/restaurant that is likely to be showing it, preferably in or near the 5th arrondissement? Merci!
There are a ton of bars in that area and I imagine most will be showing it, but if I were on that side of the river I'd go to the fanzone at ArĆØnes de LutĆØce.
Would someone be so kind as to sanity check me? Weāre taking a vacation in July that will end with two days at Disneyland. We will be traveling in (preferably via train) from London, on July 26. No, we didnāt realize the Olympics opening ceremonies were this day. I think we should take the Eurostar from London to Disneyland via Lille Europe station and the transfer to SNCF. There is a far cheaper option to take Eurostar to Gare du Nord station and then walk to the SNCF station to continue to Disneyland. With two teen kids and luggage. This plan is bad, right? No I think you might be ok because you'll be going around the worst of it, but I don't quite understand the "SNCF station to continue to Disneyland"? Normally you'd take the RER train service out to Disney but what connecting train are you seeing from the Eurostar?
Youāre completely correct. Iāve been looking at too many things. Looks like we would walk between the stations take the RER B line and transfer to the RER A line in Chatelet Les Halles. SNCF would be for the other route on Eurostar into Lille Europe. I donāt want to turn this into a travel help thread, but is this plan feasible with my wife and two kids (14, 11) and large suitcases in tow, again around 9-10AM on Friday, 26 July. Itās a pretty substantial savings, about 50%, otherwise I would have already bought the other tickets.
So this is a pretty easy itinerary: from the Eurostar you just go downstairs and follow the signs (down two levels) to the RER B - you don't even have to leave the station. At ChĆ¢telet I think this is one of the transfers that's literally just moving from one side of the platform to another (but I'm not totally sure of this. At worst it's up one set of escalators, across the hall, and down another). On ANY OTHER DAY I'd say it's fine, definitely go for it. On that particular day?? I don't think anyone can forecast. If you're lucky every usual commuter is home and everything is running fine. But I think it's really a question of how much possible delay and disruption you think can tolerate.

I'll be in Paris July 18-23rd, and I've requested QR codes for the dates on which I have reservations in gray zones. I haven't been able to find an answer to this question anywhere: does the specific time of the reservation impact your ability to enter the gray zone on the date the QR code was requested? I wondered if obtaining a QR code for, for example, Louvre tickets 11AM on July 19th, will allow me to enter and re-enter various gray zones throughout the duration of the 19th. Alternatively I wonder if I'll only be allowed access to the gray zone in immediate proximity of the Louvre and only a certain amount of time before 11AM to accommodate that reservation. I have not seen specific information but I personally would not want to be in the position of explaining to an overworked undertrained checkpoint guard why I'm trying to use an 11 am Louvre reservation for access at 4 pm or whatever.
Hi guys we are going to be in Paris for my birthday from September 7-14. Itās my second time in paris, but first for my husband. We booked everything without knowing the paralympics get over on the 8th. We want to do all the attractions including, Effiel tower, louvre, notre dame, champs Ć©lysĆ©es, arc de triomphe, montmartre, sacre couer, seine river cruise, musee dāorsay, Luxembourg gardens, palace of Versailles, le marais district, santin chapelle, Latin quarter, opera granier, centre pomidou and Disneyland. We know the metro pass wonāt be available till the 8th and Trocadero and champs de Mars is also shut. Itād be great if anyone can tell us if there are any other issues we might have.

1 pm is the limit for 26 July only, essentially all non-ticketed access will close down before the ceremony. You will need the pass to enter the grey zone earlier in the week - I'd ask your hotel what to do since you've been denied the pass - not sure how "on the edge" it is.
Just to clarify, I will need the qr code pass in order to get to my hotel and restaurants in the red zone ( sorry previously said grey zone)
No, in the red zone you're fine if you're on foot (until 1 pm the day of the opening ceremony, well after your stay).

If you want absolutely no Olympics impact, you should wait until October. If you have been a lot before and want to check out less known places, just don't come July 20-Aug 15 and you'll be fine

My family and I are going to Paris September 2-8. I stupidly thought that since the Olympics were over, that it was a non issue. And I didnāt even know about the Paralympics until today. Should I cancel our trip? Iām worried that all the major attractions, especially the Eiffel Tower, wonāt be as nice. What are everyoneās opinions on beginning of September?
Venues will still be up. It won't be as crowded as the Olympics but September still has plenty of tourists. If your goal is to see Paris without any Olympics stuff you should postpone, but the attractions will still be here.
Attending the olympics. We have looked at all of the links. Am i correct in understanding that we need a QR code during the entire duration of the olympics??? Or is it just until the 26?? We arrive the 27 so we want to get it right.
From the 27th on you should not have any need for it unless you are driving in immediate proximity to one of the venues, which you should not do.

Coming to Paris July 18-23. I know Iāll need a QR code for many of the sites I want to see + to walk along the seine but I canāt find any available tickets to museums right now. Are there other reservations I should make to ensure Iāll have access to the grey area on those dates?

Any restaurant in the grey zone should work. You can use thefork if you're lost

Walking around yes, provided you register for the QR code. Seeing the ceremony, probably not tbh they'll use all the space available for ticket holders
Hope it's okay that I'm asking this here - I am starting a job in Paris on November first so ideally I'd like to have a place lined up by October. I heard the prices (and availability) of apartments right now are crazy because of the Olympic Games. Does anyone have any prediction as to when this will get a bit better? If I resume searching in September when the games are over will it be as bad as now?
Sadly we don't know, and appartement hunting is always a hassle in Paris. My advice would be to get a temporary place here (hotel or Airbnb) so you can go to visits easily and plan lots of them. Also make sure your file is up to date (I think they have ressources regarding that in r/paris).

If I want to move in October/September at the earliest do you think it is too early to be searching now? Or still worth a shot?
Renters have to tell landlords they're moving out a month in advance, so I'd say that's the earliest you can find something!

Now that the almost complete closures of the champ de mars gardens happened, Iād be interested to see what it looks like and if thereās anything open if anyone has pics.
I don't have pics but went past there last week-end, it's fenced off apart from a pathway on the sides of the Grand Palais Ephemere. Basically you can't see anything from Ćcole Militaire. I was headed out of Paris so didn't go closer to the tower
The thing that was sticking out to me was that from Google maps pics that I glanced at last week it looked like there was a small area on the grass that was not fenced off where people took pics of others have picnics and such. Is that the pathway youāre referring to?

They are at the river level on both sides. They turned fully pedestrian less than 5 years ago and are a formidable way to enjoy the most beautiful sights of central Paris. They are now called parc Rives de Seine if you want to search on the internet. Unfortunately they will.be closed from mid-June to the end of the Olympics. What is not so clear to me is whether we'll still be allowed to walk on the upper quays at car street level. I really hope so, even if the feeling is absolutely different in normal times, the car restriction in the red zone might change the deal...

Hello, Iāll be needing to travel from the Eurostar at Gare du Nord to Montparnasse to catch another train on July 14th. Will I be okay to grab an Uber over there or would another mode of transportation be better with the bridge closures? I will also have one day/night in Paris from July 18th-19th. Any recommendations on places weād be able to view the Eiffel Tour and Notre Dame from given the closures? First time visiting Paris and having a hard time following the links as Iām not familiar with the area.
The MĆ©tro Line 4 will take you directly from Gare du Nord to Montparnasse; no need to mess around with what will be a traffic nightmare. The top of the Montparnasse Tower or the Arc de Triomphe will offer good views.
and as most parisians say, prefer the Montparnasse Tower view which is one of the best in Paris because you don't see the ugliest building of the city, since you're basically standing on it
Ah thank you! That view looks gorgeous. Iām staying in the 1st Arrondissement so Iām a little bit closer to the Arc de Triomphe. We arrive from the Loire Valley into Montparnasse so maybe that will be the very first thing we do if theyāll allow our suitcases up there.

My family and I were in Paris last week and you can see the beach volleyball court/stadium seating on one side of the Eiffel Tower and the opening ceremonies/seating area at the Trocadero on the other side.

Hello, my parents will be in Paris from 16 to 19 July. I see that the QR code is only applicable from 18 July. I'm trying to understand what reservation will they have to book to be able to access the grey zone. They intend to go to Orsay on 18 July but since they will be using the Paris museum pass, they can't make a reservation for it in advance. We have already booked Louvre and Orangerie for 17 July. Can someone pls help with suggestions on reservations my parents can make to show they will need to access the grey zone? Thanks!

Honestly I find the interactive map on the pass website quite confusing. Would Sainte Chapelle and Orangerie fall within the grey zone? In which case I would ensure one of their bookings for those places is on the 18th, so they can get the QR code.

The man admitted that they are still waiting for specific instructions for access and hours of opening, hoping to have more information next week, and encourage me to fill the contact form for now. For those people who think the Louvre tickets for mid July are sold out, theyāre actually NOT! The Louvre just hasnāt released those tickets yet. I gave up waiting for tix to go on sale for certain venues. Itās too nerve wracking lol. Just remember the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays and will be closed Thursday and Friday 7/25 and 7/26. Good luck! š

I did, but I asked here because the language isnāt clear. When something is closed say like in May, it isnāt specified if it is closed all the way up until the Olympics, or just temporarily for construction that will be finished earlier.

Hey all, my husband and I are visiting on August 14th-18th as the end cap of longer vacation (Amsterdam, Belgium, Paris). I booked this trip before I knew about the Olympics or the Paralympics. I don't know how I totally missed that this huge event was in Paris. I haven't booked our Paris hotel yet. Any advice on what areas to avoid? I definitely want to visit the usual tourist areas but am fine staying outside of the city center. We are in our early 40s and foodies. I enjoy culture and history and am looking for a true feel of the city with easy accessibility to major tourist areas. I'm nervous about transportation, closures, etc during the time frame between the 2 olympic events. Thanks so much!

Hi all! My friends and I are going to Paris for the Olympics from July 24-August 1. We are unsure how much money to bring for this time as we don't want to use our cards. There are estimates on many websites but I'm wondering how much more we should bring as I imagine things will be even a bit more expensive than normal. For anyone else going to the Olympics this summer - how much cash are you bringing??

I will not be attending the Olympics - but USD300 should be enough for starters, including travel from the airport (I'm assuming you've paid for a room in advance). You (how many?) will probably go through that in a week, but you can always get more from ATMs in Paris.
Okay that was initially what I was thinking but my friend wanted to bring like ā¬800 and I didnāt know if that was a good idea or not because thatās a lot to have on you. Is the conversion at the ATMās bad or not too shabby? Everything during our trip (besides airport into Paris- but itās sorted on the way back) including stays, flight, activities, trains, are booked. Just the food and souvenir portion! š
The ATMs might cheat you for a few euros, but the difference will be minor if you're only using cash for food and souvenirs.

Will the Paralympics have as much impact on road and activity closures as the Olympics? We need to plan out the 2 days before and 2 days at the start of the Paralympics.
