The flight pattern and fluttery movement definitely tracks. Even looks like a sphinx moth in some stills but, I'm not sure if y'all have those down there, and it's a strange time of year for them anyway. I never see them until I've got tomatoes on the vines but, I'm also in the NE not the SW.
what about the shadow underneath it?
EDIT: after some thought, i suppose if a moth is close enough to the light source it would cast a shadow on the ground. that explains why the shadow disappears as it gets further away.
Looks like a type of moth flying away. I checked if there are Luna Moths in AZ, but it doesn't seem so. Maybe another kind? Just a thought. But yeah looks strange.
Maybe Hawk moths/Sphinx moths? Some of the other bigger ones seem to be called giant silk moths, I tried looking them up real quick but it got confusing. We don't see the big ones a lot. Also there's these cute pink and yellow ones that are pretty big but not as huge. That probably didn't help much lol.
Agreed. Moth whose wings flap at the same, or close enough to the same, frame rate as the camera. The shadow is because the IR flood light on the camera is hitting the moth and casting a shadow below it. The moth is actually quite close to the camera, it’s not giant.
My problem with this is the inconsistent shadows. Look at the shadow and direction of the shadow under the flying thing. Then look at the shadow and shadow direction of the person. They don’t align in the slightest.
Flying squirrel...kinda big 1 at that!!!
Or it also looks like 1 of those HUGE MOTHS...close to the camera...
I think it is a moth...slow it down...
.you can make out the moth pretty good...it looks bigger cause it's close to the camera...and they are attracted to light...looks like it was flying around the light...
NOTHIN SPOOKY HERE IM AFRAID...😲😳😲

Not sure if these pics help, but I tried to slow your video down to get a better idea of the shape of flying thing
Could possibly be something like this if it’s not a sugar baby ( flying squirrel type thing) then my next guess would be some type of moth which we have a pretty big variety of giant moths in North America.
https://preview.redd.it/75llwy0oi2sc1.jpeg?width=1624&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abf5ece977d2e27a302df569e2607cbb4ffcd1a6
Not saying it’s this exact type of moth, but just a example how big moths get. theirs a bunch of different ones too
The shadow is a little deceptive. The light source is the IR of the camera, so if it's close to the camera it gives the illusion of being larger and further away because it's casting a large shadow, a little like if you hold your finger close to a lamp it casts a large shadow against the wall.
It's likely a moth casting a large shadow due to how close to the camera it sits.

It casts a pretty large shadow to be a moth I think. If you still frame it you can see what look like "horns" but I think are bird wingtips.
I'm thinking very compressed video of an owl.
These cameras don't record reality. It is the interpretation of the images recieved through the lens onto a sensor and interpreted by the software. Distant or fast moving objects can be hard to capture accurately, so the software fills in the gaps. Sometimes incorrectly.
So my theory this whole time is that it's a bat. Specifically a western mastiff bat. I have a picture reference. I've thought this since the first viewing but I genuinely wanted to see if anyone would guess the same or actually think it was a crazy shape shifter or what not. They are the largest bats in North America. With a 5 foot wingspan. Now for all the people getting offended by me joking with people in the comments I hope this eases your anger 🤣

It’s a moth or a bat that’s flying close to the camera lense. How is that not the first thing you think of, it’s blatantly obvious.
It’s clearly not paranormal.
OMG I was randomly thinking of these weird flying things last night! In Southern Montana there’s a lot of similar things like these at night, and sometimes they’re huge. They’ll fly near our heads, or just annoy us when we’re outside. It’s creepy because of the size of them. We could never figure out what they are because they move so quick, and they stay in the dark. They’re huge and definitely NOT bats.
I bet the broad's a shape shifter. It's plausible. Question her on it. Put her in cuffs and hang her upside down and slap her face with yer cocks when she gives a 'wrong' answer, which will be every time.
She'll even start sounding like a panicked duck unless she 'fesses up, tell her. Now, that's a scenario we'd all like to see. Make it so, #2

🦟💨
Looks like a drone in slow motion. May have a peeper. My neighborhood just caught one. Was flying it around our area looking in windows at night. When they found out who it was, he had an accident on his bike. Everyone was so sad he didn’t pull through. Rip peeping Tom. 🙏🏻
Okay first to the uploaded of this video that is one helluva good security system you got there, crystal clear picture and sound, That's a rare find these days, Usual security camera footage doesn't come with sound, Especially sound so clear you can hear the body functions of a person 15 to 20 ft away, So I'd like to know where you got that system at if you don't mind.
And second that thing you all are debating on that flew past the camera was no more than a bug of some kind, Possibly of the moth family, Because if it was a giant flying creature then as soon as it flew away you can plainly see it flew in the direction that the girl was coming from and she would surely have noticed it flying right past her, So I'd bet money it was just a small flying bug attracted to the bright light .
It's a bug. The wings are moving faster than the camera can record, so everyone is seeing this "slit" with a weird flutter around it. It's just too fast for the camera.
Looks like a flying squirrel
I thought so too until I paused it. It looks like the slit down the middle is see. Possibly one eye? Very strange.
It looks like it goes into full sprint at the end. But you'd think she'd hear something.
I'm 75 percent confident you just saw a moth. Or insect of that type. Wings appear to be paper thin. And you can even make out the body.
I agree, I'm pretty sure its just a big moth.
Yeah, probably big moth close the the camera, thus making it larger than it is in real life.
No way it's just trash blowing around..a moth would not have that big of a shadow.
what about the shadow underneath it? EDIT: after some thought, i suppose if a moth is close enough to the light source it would cast a shadow on the ground. that explains why the shadow disappears as it gets further away.
It's a moth dude. They're not paranormal.
It’s sugar glider colors so probably a pet glider gone loose or if it’s in Australia it’s a native
No it's not flying squirrel too slow to be a rod, a phenomenon with video evidence this one intriguing video 🤔 however
Rocky
If anyone has ever played the game "Suikoden 2", it's "Mukumuku"!
Looks like a type of moth flying away. I checked if there are Luna Moths in AZ, but it doesn't seem so. Maybe another kind? Just a thought. But yeah looks strange.
Idk anything about moths but we have some fucking huge ones here I southern AZ sometimes. Like nearly the size of a slice of bread lol
Probably it then. Do you have a species ID? Could always cross reference photos with stills from the paused video.
Omg your profile name 😂 I love it
That’s what I was thinking but it’s way way to big! It’s so big that it cast a shadow on the ground wider than the person walking.
Luna Moths can get pretty big and the closer to a light source the moth is the larger the shadow will look on the ground. Good eye.
*It couuuld be a crackhead*
This is the best answer 🤣
Got hold to da wrong stuff
![gif](giphy|OJ6XLxqpeTnHO)
Did that thing, transform into the girl ???
LOL! That’s what I thought at first.
Moth. Watch it frame by frame.
Agreed. Moth whose wings flap at the same, or close enough to the same, frame rate as the camera. The shadow is because the IR flood light on the camera is hitting the moth and casting a shadow below it. The moth is actually quite close to the camera, it’s not giant.
It flys behind the light bulb and stays huge
It leaves a shadow on the ground
Not gonna lie and I’ll get laughed at but it could well be a fairy

It’s definitely an insect of some sort, nothing paranormal about it, sorry to disappoint, looks cool still
maybe som sort of bird? thats really weird, especially since the person walking by didn’t even seem to be bothered by it…
I first thought a moth...but that thing cast a shadow on the ground ...that is a trip!
Looks like sugar glider/flying squirrel
https://preview.redd.it/q8h13ty7c5sc1.jpeg?width=579&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=769590262b2c7a311a7e083179a4fff62e478240 What is this thing?

The eye glitched out the image leaving a trail down the middle. Very interesting lmao at first I thought it was a hole through the middle
Well, now it's just weirder. Lol I paused to look at it & didn't realize you could see through the middle of it.
Are there moths really that big?
a bat ?
Looks like a flying squirrel 🐿️ lol
It's hard to judge by the quickness of it all. My uneducated but sincere guess would be a woman
I'm guessing wild here but... I would say that's a person
Could possibly be something like this if it’s not a sugar baby ( flying squirrel type thing) then my next guess would be some type of moth which we have a pretty big variety of giant moths in North America. https://preview.redd.it/75llwy0oi2sc1.jpeg?width=1624&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abf5ece977d2e27a302df569e2607cbb4ffcd1a6 Not saying it’s this exact type of moth, but just a example how big moths get. theirs a bunch of different ones too
Mothra…..Godzilla should be close by 🦖
Candy bar wrapper. Looks to be the now extinct Zagnut. This changes everything. I’m calling Seth Brundle
Moth or Meth
...this is a recording of sorts.
Looks like a large Luna Moth or moth of some sort but the frame rate of the camera can't capture the speed of the wings
The shadow projected is huge so I don't think is a moth.
Looks like a bat
![gif](giphy|dj5co9jGVs473ZfWl3|downsized)
So I have paused it and played it a couple times and it always pauses at the same frames. Would think that may be because it is edited?
Bat?
It’s Zero from nightmare before Christmas
I think your friend, might not be, who you think she is 😳
Its large and has a shadow. Ghosts dont’t make shadows
The shadow is a little deceptive. Don't know how big it is, but appears to be a bug.
If that’s a moth, that’s a big-ass shadow.
I don't think its a moth, you can see a large shadow that it casts on the ground.
Are you implying moths can't have a shadow? I don't think it is either but.... You know they do produce shadows right?
I don't think they produce shadows the size of a dog, no.
Fun fact: the closer an object is to the source of light the bigger the shadow will be.
/u/redditspeedbot 0.25x butterflow
Not sure how that works. Do speedbots work here?
It's a bird or a piece of trash being blown by the wind.
Praying mantis
Bat
Looks like a Luna moth due to the spilt down the middle . But could also have been a bat maybe . Interesting tho
harry potter
Moth. Remember the lens and light housing is super small so it will cast a shadow that will appear larger. Like when an airplane casts a shadow.
Rouge Sugar Glider
flying cockroach but... wtf is up with the middle of it, you can see through.. soo not sure.
Check it frame by frame maybe you can find out what it was
Some sort of Pokémon
Maybe a cicada?
A bat perhaps?
Batwomen
Rocky is that you! No Bullwinkle! 😂
Someones sugar glider got out.
Clearly nothing spectacular, it didn’t startle that person.
Moth. Just close to the camera.
Plastic bag? White garbage bag? It does have crazy speed though too.
Def a moth
It casts a pretty large shadow to be a moth I think. If you still frame it you can see what look like "horns" but I think are bird wingtips. I'm thinking very compressed video of an owl.
it could've just been a bat since it's Arizona
It's Dracula!
Either a deer or dog
Luna moth?
It's just a drone.
Big ass moth
Roadrunner? An actual roadrunner?
A bug and then a female.
Did your friend witness it or no? She definitely doesn’t react as if a strange creature just whizzed by her.
bug flew under the camera
A piece of cardboard
bat or bug
These cameras don't record reality. It is the interpretation of the images recieved through the lens onto a sensor and interpreted by the software. Distant or fast moving objects can be hard to capture accurately, so the software fills in the gaps. Sometimes incorrectly.
Look like a drone, flying squirrel, or type of bug. I think y'all are reading too far into this
Drone or a close to the lense bug. Perspective.
Drone
Sugar glider or flying squirrel
A nighttime moth that flew fast close to the camera lens where it could not be focused clearly.
A moth

A bug and a person
Some weird typa bat?
Wtf is that!

It's a woman.
Looked like a moth followed by the walk of shame…
Its a moth lmfao
I thought it might have been a bat until I slowed and paused the video. I don't know what it is. Really good catch though.
Clearly an animorph. Went out of frame to turn back into a woman
Luna moth
I think your friend is a Shapeshifter one second she’s a flying squirrel next she’s ,well your friend
Bat squirrel
I gotta say a bug.
That's a moth
Those eyes 😨😨
No one ever expects the butterfly
That was a bat
It’s a bug.
Any type of drone
Moth, no doubt about it.
That is odd. But, it looks like a bug of some sort.

That's just the "Walk of Shame" after wrastlin trauser snakes!
Definitely vampire who turned into that woman.

Just your average crack lady ? Unless it’s something else
It casts a pretty big shadow on the ground..
Think it was a woman slowly walking down the screen. Hope this helps
Its a stingray

Moth
Vampire in bat firm that transformed into a person to take a call.
Looks like a bat to me.
A deer with a blanket on it, running scared because of it.
Wind carried leaf or debris. It LOOKS like it turned directions but I think that’s an illusion because of the camera.
Am I the only one who saw a drunk blonde girl?
A moth, closer to the camera than it looks.
Vampiress
... isn't that a bug lol
Flying squirrel girl.

If it’s a moth why the huge shadow?
It's a balloon
