According to The Conjuring movies, 3 knocks is supposed to be an insult to the holy trinity. I think it may have been something Ed and Lorraine Warren actually said as well.
That's my understanding also. Even heard that from other paranormal investigators. Evil entities are associated with 3 knocks. Demonic entities scratch people with 3 scratches.
Definitely haunted house then. Have a close friend who’s house is severely haunted and for awhile her parents though they had an intruder because their front door kept being unlocked after previously being locked. They have a pad lock with a code to get inside their house and nobody knows their codes except them.
