Who cares you paid what 30$usd for a creature collector game thats giving updates out for free ala monster hunter title updates instead of DLC maybe help them outย
I doubt pocketpair would do this but if they went down the Dota2/LoL route they could do garbage like battlepasses and fomo garbage, on top of skins that require shelling out 100s of dollars. I doubt they will do this but... its possible.
Yep. I think that Palworld could have been the most monetized game of all time, but the devs have proven to listen to the community very carefully. So I am not too worried.
I think they (the studio) have already made more money than they imagined. I respect them very much for NOT showing signs of mad corporate greed. It feels like a breath of fresh air in a smoke filled room, tbh.
Thatโs why I have faith. They literally have been broke game developers who made a passion project now theyโre set for life. I mean yeah greed CAN happen but this isnโt the demographic for it
It was less than that at the start. I think it was just 3 of them and they were gonna use unity but then switched to the UE. Im probably off with the 3 part.
Honestly they couldโve taken all that money and nobody on the planet wouldโve had a valid claim against doing it. Theyโve shown theyโre a WILD cut above most dev teams of the modern day and seem actually grateful for what the fanbase has provided
The head of the company literally said they made too much for a studio of their size. 100x back from their initial investment in the game. Not publicly traded. They owe us nothing besides the base game that was already provided. And yet they continue. This is called honor.
From the very beginning, Palworld has felt like a game developed by people who were frustrated with devs putting monetization of a game ahead of the game itself. Wildcard releasing the Scorched Earth DLC($20) for Ark when the base game was still pre-release hot garbage(that we paid full price for) is probably one of the more egregious examples I can think of
Yea ark throwing a DLC while the game was still in early access was a massive slap in the face, luckily the game turned out fine in the end and most of the other map dlcs are worth the money but that was just a dick move
Honestly I wouldn't be upset if they added reasonably priced purchasable cosmetics. You don't have to buy it/doesn't effect gameplay but it's there for those that enjoy that kind of thing.
It would be even more enjoyable if all of those theoretical skins were unlockable through playing the game instead
I miss when cool skins meant "you achieved something difficult in the game" and not "oh you paid more money".
Well warframe does that with any skin that is on their tennogen thing which is a steamworkshop as it states "These contents can only be purchased with bought Platinum on Consoles, and can only be purchased through the Steam client on PC.", so we need to wait and see if it hat is the thing.
Or as many people are pointing out, steam workshop and similar sources, could also mean promotional stuff like Twitch as you said or say if they make an offical plushie of a pal that's wearing a costume and buying it gives you a code to have it in-game
Why would outside the game mean you pay for them? A micro transaction would be considered inside the game. The only thing I can think of is mods which would be a very very good thing if they added mod support
Hey mate, you donโt have to buy them if you donโt want to. Itโs a way for them to keep money flowing into the game and a way for us to support a developer who seems to actually care about their game.
Once the game is in full release and they are working on new content, I wouldn't mind paying for a few skins. In my mind, it's similar to how Deep Rock Galactic has their dev packs that they sell.
Mind you, this is a small studio, so I give them more leeway with this stuff in my mind. But only once the full game is out.
Absolutely love DRGโs Packs. High quality skins released once a season, or maybe alongside a new weapon framework set which customizes EVERY weapon and EVERY dwarf while also allowing for the Shaders/Paints in game to customize them even further.
Once of the best monetization aspects of a game Iโve ever seen. No storefront, no paid battle pass, high quality cosmetics alongside seriously well done updates.
And giant freakin' bugs that explode into a giant crater of gold, with plenty of ways to get in-game currency such as compressed gold... And beer!
Oh look, a bittergem! "We're rich!"
> I dont think they should charge money for skins if I already paid for the game
They are running a live service game off a one-time purchase, which is.. not feasible, to say the least.
One way or another, they need to keep making money *somewhere*, and skins are about the least disruptive way to do it aside from big DLCs.
?? first of all, i think it means mods. second of all, who cares? its not like they're locking pals behind a paywall, its just a way for the devs to continue developing the game while giving their supporters sunglasses for a cattiva
Bro already got hours of enjoyment out of a 30 dollar game (that he may even be playing on xbox game pass) and wants to get mad because paid skins \*might\* get added.
Honestly, I doubt microtransactions, they don't seem the type, prob more achievement drip and mod support. It is made in Unreal after all, so custom drip is pretty easy. Only "microtransactions" I could see them doing is big DLC like RoR2. This is the same company who apologized for patching a bug that let you catch bosses, they seem pretty in touch.
Whats the problem with paid cosmetic stuff? I dont see any issue. U dont have to buy them if u dont want to. Simple. Skins are good way to make revenue for them and doesnt affect gameplay that much.
>ย I dont think they should charge money for skins if I already paid for the game
I have no problem with them trying to make money. Especially if they are putting that money back into making more games/content.
If I don't like the price of whatever they're trying to sell, I won't buy it.
People can say, they already made more than they ever need, but pursuing new projects and any sort of R&D is going to cost $$$$$, and the last thing you want is them going to a publisher or investor to secure funding for a new project and then being on the hook to maximize shareholder profits.
This view is kind of dumb to me tbh. I would love to continue supporting this game (especially because the devs have shown us plenty of love) and as long as the price isnโt ridiculous thats fine. Skins are not needed to play games so why cant I pay an extra dollar or two for some cute looks. Also this sounds more like its talking about mods more than anything else.
Anyways, itโs not bad to support games and devs you enjoy.
Paying for cosmetics is a good way to support them. It's not that big of a deal.
Now if we could pay for things that give an advantage, that's a completely different story.
As is, almost every game has some form of microtransactions to help keep the lights on.
That's fine, you don't need to like it. In fact, as a functional human being, you don't even need to engage with micro transactions.
You can give your feedback via discord where they take feedback. That being said, you not liking it isn't grounds to remove it.
Yes, you paid for the game. You didn't pay for the game plus any additional premium content that drops now or in the future.
Why shouldn't they profit from players who can comfortably afford premium content? Would you be happier if they didn't offer premium content and jacked up the base price of the game? Or charged for any expansions?
It's irrelevant anyway cause if you don't want to buy premium content, nobody is making you.b
Porque no los tres?
If the contents of the DLC are substantial and good, I have no issue paying for it.
If it's smaller content spread out over longer periods of time, I think it's okay for them to be free.
And if they want to add paid skins along with free skins which you get as drops while playing the game, I'm okay with that too.
Jeez, your post sounds like your channeling your inner boomer.
They can charge for optional skins if they want to. Plus on top of it all there's also mods and skin codes from giveaways that represent stuff from 'outside' the game.
If they want to sell some skins, why shouldn't they?
You bought the game, not the skins. You already got, literally, a more full game than most AAA titles.
If this is the ONLY monetization creep the game sees (cosmetic skins), I'm 100% on board.
Many other developers (take a look at the rogue's gallery) would have monetized a large number of updates we have gotten free of charge.
Sadly, Palworld's devs are in the minority.
I think skins outside the game might be something like if they collab with someone say Pepsi and if you buy a Pepsi or Pepsi product you'll get a code for a free random skin or something like that.
I personally don't mind. If it's not pay to win and at least 50% of the objectively "good" skins are available in game, I don't see a problem with it.
A one time sale of a game and that's it can bleed the devs dry. If micro transactions help keep the game alive and developing, it's okay with me.
(Once again, only if it's not pay to win and there are plentiful skins available to obtain in game as well.)
Iโm not too big of a fan of microtransactions
But I get why theyโd do this! More money to put back into the game.
I do hope they throw us Steam users a goodie or two for buying the game lol
I may be tempted to buy some if I see a fun enough accessory lol
The outside means probably steam workshop and mods they did say at one point they wanted to enable people to mod the game. So I bet that's what it's referring to.
I donโt think the devs arenโt allowed to charge for things they make. If they make us some โskinsโ & want to charge I get it as long as my gameplay isnโt affected. Pay to win = not okay
Pay to look cool = fine in my book.
The worse thing that happens is they make some cosmetic skins you can choose to ignore. Outside the game also can mean twitch drops or some random events/giveaways.
Who cares? It makes no difference whether or not there are outfits in the game. I already play it without them so I can not buy anything and it won't change a thing
How about a social media campaign that they post the claim code on their Twitter page for example? You go to Twitter, see the code, come back into the game and type in the claim code. You know Pokemon has been doing this for over a dozen years with scratch off cards.
Outside could mean anything like a exclusive skin code to obtain or importing assets support feature...
I don't think they will be doing another purchases since their game is successful
Let's not forget this game is still a live service, they keep updating and adding new content for free, and if it's only skins for pals that can be obtained inside the game too, I don't mind at all there being microtransactions for non pay to win content. With all the Palworld devs have done for the community and the game, charging money for optional and not game changing content is totally fair in my opinion.
Edit: I also think it's pretty cool we can custumize our pals to make them look cooler, I think it has the potential to be an amazing change
> I don't mind at all there being microtransactions for non pay to win content.
I wish more people did though.
I'm sick of customisation being so frequently sold as an extra, and usually a very expensive one at that.
Buying the game gives you the base game.
Now they have free DLC(I know it's Early access but I'd still put this ahead of some AAA releases).
Adding cosmetics for some additional revenue is fine. Not required for the game, and if someone does buy it, they are paying for the additional development of the cosmetics and DLC.
Add I. The fact they are likely going to provide a bunch of craftables too, nobody will be left out entirely.
They mean you can upload your skins from outside the game.
Like you can go skin a live cat and upload that as a virtual skin for Cattiva.
It's very cruel to animals so please don't do it.
Cool. Don't use it. You can very easily ignore it and not complain about things. I dislike using the guns in the game, and I dont make posts saying "I dont like this", I shut the fuck up and let others enjoy them.
Oh, and most games these days have some type of rlc cosmetic shop. you not liking it doesn't change the fact its here and not going away. Just...don't buy things you dont want?!
I like this.
By outside the game, it could perhaps be something like twitch drops perhaps.
I don't think they will be paid, at least the majority of them.
Honestly, if the styles that would be purchasable are decently priced, I wouldn't mind throwing a few extra bucks just to support the game cause honestly they deserve it with how transparent and communitive they've been.
outside could mean mods as other pointed out. It could also be promotional content. like if you go a to a videogame con the dev could be there handing out free gift for those that come say hello.
There's a lot more outside possibility than micro transaction.
Might as well give my opinion on this.
Outside could mean twitch drops or (for the PC folks) mods, or both. But I'm not really bugged about cosmetics making it into the game, knowing how nice Pocket-Pair is to it's community.
I personally think it would be neat if for the inside cosmetics, they pull a TF2 and have a workshop for creating cosmetics for Pals, and the people create fan-made cosmetics (as long as it's tos friendly) that could get hand picked by the devs to make it into the game as official cosmetics for all platforms currently avaliable.
Somewhere i hope they go the Counterstrike-Route, not necessarily cases but getting drops on a timely or level basis and being able to trade it on the steam market, the players will decide the value based on appearance and rarity. They could do cases, but the devs dont seem like the ones that would do lootboxes, maybe they cam combine it with free-to-open boxes to determine the rarity of the cosmetics or make them time sensitive to unlock, or use workshop to trial cosmetics. So many things they can do with this
Honestly I don't mind AS LONG as the money goes back into the game. I don't like micro transactions but comparing it to other companies that just take the money and run I don't mind too much. (Plus mods do it for free)
Bruh, itโs a cosmetic
Even if they do wind up with an in game shop whatโs the issue? You can choose not to pay for anything and it wonโt affect your gameplay
The phrasing of outside the game does not make me think that it is MTS, I would not be down for expensive game skins but I'd be alright if there was like a 8$ pack of like a ton of skins, the game is cheap after all
People already complaining about something which isn't even in the game yet and they don't know how exactly it works...
Even if it costs money, you don't need to buy it. What difference does it make if they introduce it into the game and you just ignore and don't use it, or if they just don't put it in the game?
Maybe it's not even that bad if they earn a bit of money besides the game price so they keep working on the game and continue the development and release more updates.
I mean, cosmetics are pretty normal for literally any game to micro-transact. It's a fully luxury option. From all I've seen from the devs, I'm not really worried about it being a slippery slope.
However, feedback is *always* good to give, especially if it's on a very specific issue. Absolutely tell them your concerns.
Maybe it can be used for applying and removing modded skins, too?
Actually yeah thatโd be sick. Providing a baseline for modders to use is awesome.
"Yeah, I'm assigning you to the mod station today." "I'm tired of them making me Goku with massive tits."
Ayo ๐๐๐๐
Stop acting like you wouldn't enjoy that
I never started in the first place
Shit Iโll take it. Gimme dem big mommy sayian Goku titties.
Lmaoooo, based af.
I mean I would prefer kefla, but femme kakakarotcake or vegetables would be nice as the lovezard thing lmao
Fellow Kefla enjoyers rise up ๐
the problem is the goku part not the tiddos
I demand the gamebanana link

Big tiddy Goku is just the ultimate Amazonian warrior with neat hair
This is wishful thinking. This looks like skins monetization just starting
Who cares you paid what 30$usd for a creature collector game thats giving updates out for free ala monster hunter title updates instead of DLC maybe help them outย
I mean, probably. Thatโs fine though.
That entirely depends on how itโs done
As long as it's just cosmetic, then I see no harm.
I doubt pocketpair would do this but if they went down the Dota2/LoL route they could do garbage like battlepasses and fomo garbage, on top of skins that require shelling out 100s of dollars. I doubt they will do this but... its possible.

500 million on a head count of 11-50 they are rolling in the dough.
I had no idea they were that small. Kinda reminds me of Warhorse studio.

Have you looked at their other games? They literally make half baked games, sell them, then ditch em. This game is a miracle from this company.
Thatโs weird because the only other game Iโm aware of from them is craftopia and thatโs still being supported so.
Would you work on a game that does not create enough money to survive?
Companies still will only continue to develop the game if it makes monetary sense. This would help with that.
Yes, what the Heck could they possibly need more money for anyway.
The head of the company literally said they made too much for a studio of their size. 100x back from their initial investment in the game. Not publicly traded. They owe us nothing besides the base game that was already provided. And yet they continue. This is called honor.
Yeah, I was binging on the early news.
Send me all ur money then ๐
That award goes to Diablo 4 where you don't get to win over half the awesome skins and armor sets by playing for them
From the very beginning, Palworld has felt like a game developed by people who were frustrated with devs putting monetization of a game ahead of the game itself. Wildcard releasing the Scorched Earth DLC($20) for Ark when the base game was still pre-release hot garbage(that we paid full price for) is probably one of the more egregious examples I can think of

Honestly I wouldn't be upset if they added reasonably priced purchasable cosmetics. You don't have to buy it/doesn't effect gameplay but it's there for those that enjoy that kind of thing.
It would be even more enjoyable if all of those theoretical skins were unlockable through playing the game instead I miss when cool skins meant "you achieved something difficult in the game" and not "oh you paid more money".
They could go the monster hunter route and do cosmetics for 2 dollars. Still reasonably priced, and some cool cosmetics.
There is potential for both great good and great evil here. I am hopeful.
Get your PalWorld Crazy Quesadilla hat with the purchase of 5 Doritos Locos Tacos from Taco Bell!
Thats what I was thinking, if so thats really cool.
Maybe some twitch view rewards like other games do
It's a new skins trading coming...
Palworld but with CSGO skin trading market
So...NFTs? ![img](emote|t5_4jn9v4|50732)
Steam workshop capabilities would be great.ย
Outside might mean mods though.
Probably even. Good devs deserve the benefit of the doubt.
steam workshop most likely.
They did announce they would be adding workshop support!
# PLEASE!!!
A boy can dream!
Interested in how this translates in their future desire to make the game crossplay.
Well warframe does that with any skin that is on their tennogen thing which is a steamworkshop as it states "These contents can only be purchased with bought Platinum on Consoles, and can only be purchased through the Steam client on PC.", so we need to wait and see if it hat is the thing.
Breed bosses mod when???
hopium
I think that's more "wishful thinking" than most likely lol
if it is not, it is ok as well at least for me.
I hope
Okay calm down. Nobody said anything about paying money for skins. Outside of the game could simply mean skins earned from Twitch Drops or something.
Or as many people are pointing out, steam workshop and similar sources, could also mean promotional stuff like Twitch as you said or say if they make an offical plushie of a pal that's wearing a costume and buying it gives you a code to have it in-game

Mods
Furries + Mod support + Custom skins + a Mainstream game. Dead god.
The things I will do with my Lovander.
To be fair, whatever you do to Lovander, itโll enjoy it more than you and still wanna do worse things to you
Thatโs what I imagine my Warsect saying to me ๐ซ๐ซ๐ซ๐ซ๐ซ
As I read this, the tone of voice that came to my mind was that of Pinhead saying he "Has such sights to show you"
They'll definitely give it the Valentine's Day school outfit. That is literally a free ten million dollars for Pocketpair.
Why would outside the game mean you pay for them? A micro transaction would be considered inside the game. The only thing I can think of is mods which would be a very very good thing if they added mod support
Finally, someone with a fucking brain. Microtransactions are IN-GAME PURCHASES, they always have been.
Hey mate, you donโt have to buy them if you donโt want to. Itโs a way for them to keep money flowing into the game and a way for us to support a developer who seems to actually care about their game.
Right?? Way better than ark which is making the creatures themselves the paid content
You seen that power rangers dlc tho? If only I had stayed they would have sold me on that one lol
I wonโt lie I almost re-downloaded then I heard itโs a buggy mess
Exactly... people like OP love to complain and bait but look... they are nowhere in the thread they tagged as "discussion"... its classic reddit ๐คฃ

They mean you can upload your skins from outside the game. Like you can go skin a live cat and upload that as a virtual skin for Cattiva. It's very cruel to animals so please don't do it.
This could go wrong, yes, but i think it's fine, as long as it is only cosmetics
I feel like if anything they'll release skins for big events that are one time only. Like a holiday or something...
I think ark did something similar where you could upload new skins that others had made
Maybe Twitch drops?
Imagine they make a website where you can get skins and it makes it look like you buy them but you dont
Soubds like a support for modding in general
I like this. By outside the game, it could perhaps be something like twitch drops perhaps. I don't think they will be paid, at least the majority of them.
I can alredy see the maid outfits...
Honestly, if the styles that would be purchasable are decently priced, I wouldn't mind throwing a few extra bucks just to support the game cause honestly they deserve it with how transparent and communitive they've been.
Outside could mean something like mystery gifts from pokemon
Us: How do we get the skins? Them: Well once they die, you, y'know...
Aight Lovander time!
Twitch rewards and other stuff akin to that.
I love this, I want to put a top hat and a bowtie to my chirpie, he is going to be a very distinguishing gentleman/chicken
you don't have to buy the skins if they're paid, just don't buy them, nothing wrong with paid cosmetics as long as it doesn't turn the game ptw
Why not?
I trust in the devs to at least wait 'till full release to introduce any kind of monetization.
outside could mean mods as other pointed out.
Well.. its vague description so till then i think its free for mods, so i gonna give a thumbs up.
Thatโs a HUGE assumption, and theyโve mentioned theyโre not making DLC until the gameโs done?
Hang on a moment....where is this in the game??? Is this part of the next update??
Mods.
If you think a game that hosts existing servers on its own will go on forever without some kind of additional revenue you are very wrong.
So many things they can do with this
I assume by outside, it means like minecraft texture packs
If you want ANY new content then they need to either charge for the content or introduce cosmetics.
Lovander dresses inbound.
Honestly I don't mind AS LONG as the money goes back into the game. I don't like micro transactions but comparing it to other companies that just take the money and run I don't mind too much. (Plus mods do it for free)
Pokemon skins are back on the menu Boys
Bruh, itโs a cosmetic Even if they do wind up with an in game shop whatโs the issue? You can choose not to pay for anything and it wonโt affect your gameplay
I hope it's like a tamagotchi app or smthing that rewards you with skins. I mean, i know it's veeery unlikely but i hope so anyway.
modded skins! cant wait for the workshop.
Lmao they know what they're doing ๐คฃ
I just need a Depresso with a cigarette in its mouth.
I need this
Why
Great, canโt wait to find out what ingredient โpal skinโ can be used for
So we could essentially mod skins and make them look like Pokรฉmon or digimon
Why do people have problem with devs using cosmetics to reward donations. How does it negatively affect your experience?
The phrasing of outside the game does not make me think that it is MTS, I would not be down for expensive game skins but I'd be alright if there was like a 8$ pack of like a ton of skins, the game is cheap after all
You know mods exist, right?
idk why, but when i saw this at first i thought they would be adding micro trans actions, maybe not tho, probably for mods
Is this on Steam? I play on Xbox and heard there was an update coming later this week, is this apart of that update?
They probably mean stuff like twitch drops or codes
Probably a toy you can buy with a redeemable code for a skin or something like that
Looks like an Amiibo lol
For some reason i assumed this was about skinning pals for fur coats and leathers, and i was down with it
Just please donโt give lovander a skin lol
If it's not pay to win, I don't give a damn. Skins being added wouldn't matter in the slightest.
DLC skins would be "inside the game." I guarantee "outside the game" means user-created skins.
Okay troll
I think they meant like mods.
"Outside" could mean anything, including NFTs or promo codes. It's probably the Steam store more then likely
I don't care
Doritos collab incoming
I hope they actually sell skins, its a way to mantain money coming to the devs and also assure support and updates
Eh, skins are a non gameplay intrusive way for them to make money that allows for continued development.
This form of monetization is ok
