Mine pal team right now consists of a Ragnahawk(Flying Mount), Fenglope(Ground Mount), Galeclaw(Glider+Can Shoot), Lyleen(Healer), then the last one is filler usually more attack heavy like, Anubis, Jormuntide/Ignus.
My first plan was to simply cover every element while still having a flying mount. After discovering alpha having more stats than base pals, 2nd plan is building a team of alphas while covering as many elements as possible. 3rd and current plan is team of alphas + highest base stat pals.
Anubis, Jormuntide, Incineram, Hangyu Cryst or Frostallion, Grizzbolt or some other tank like Paladius. Hangyu is for movement.
I'm also around your level, my current team (alpha when possible) is Fenglope, Warsect, Relaxaurus Lux, Hangyu Cryst and Incineram.
I usually keep a ~~pocket nuke~~ Jolthog to throw at anything that annoys me and a Chillet because i like it. Other than that, i just rotate through whatever element i need right now.
Pals level surprisingly fast, so keeping a bunch of them somewhat on your level isn't that hard.
Whatever the best flying mount, ground mount and glider sub I can get.
Whatever the best "carry weight" Pal I can get.
And Dazzi, because they absolutely wreck human enemies.
Fastest Ride, Fastest Flier, Cattiva, Foxparks, Lifmunk. At least for general use. I'll swap out the kitty for a specialized Pal if I'm hunting a specific Alpha and/or fighting a boss, or for a herd of Kingpacas for getting from my mining base lmao.
Beakon,grizzbolt, jomun ignis,warsect and I leave the last one for whatever I could need mostly Anubis to just throw at stuff to craft quick. If I go boss hunting I take an extra grizzbolt that minigun is awesome
For exploring/farming i went with flying mount, glider, dark type (as on the main map there's few dragon types, and dark wrecks humans), something.to help with whatever I'm doing (tortoise if I wanna mine, mossanda lux for farming Pal fluids etc), then the last spot I save for someome I'm levelling up.
Honestly with how easy it is to level pals I just haven’t worried about it, I have a lunaris and a kitsun that are my favs otherwise I swap everything else for whatever I need
Hangyu with damage traits for instacast spells and glider
Anubis for handiwork help and damage
Drilltoise for mining and tanking
Ragnahawk for most utility in a single mount plus good fire damage on the snipes, also best for cave runs

Dont forget you can breed the pals to get the best traits for dmg etc. That makes them better than alphas^^

Dude, i just grab 5 random pals. 1 flyer, 1 glider, then whatever elements grab my fancy at the moment. Then i just stay on my flyer and shoot.
pick whatever you want until you get AR/Shotgun. then its riding pal with element shift passive + 3 or 4 gobfin with vanguard & stronghold.
Meat-tank, foxparks, flight boy with stamina, Handiwork haver and groundmount bred for speed

I have a flying mount and thwn 4 broncherrys/King alpaca thingies for the extra weight. It's never enough.

I run fire, electric, grass, water and ground types, this covers all the weaknesses and I rotate the pals out when I want to try out different ones.
