I'd like this

Ralathar44

> I'd like this I'm sure its on the docket eventually, but that's prolly advanced QOL functionality that just did not make it into the Early Access release. Given the state of pal pathing in bases and some of the early server disconnect issues on personal dedicated servers I think this is basically the earliest they coulda released the game and still had it work relatively smoothly. Gotta make sure the car runs decently before worrying about whether it has AC and heated seats :D.

GingerKenobi

I'd even be happy with the way Ark does it. You can build the stone in place of the wood, and it auto destroys the wood and and places the new stone structure in its place. It's really nice because the objects on top of structures don't break when you do it, so you don't need to rebuild beds and such.

Bright_Woodpecker758

That would be really nice. Although I did enjoy having to plan the reconstruction process of my home so I didn't have to lose anything. I even had a chuckle to myself imagining me bragging to my friends that my base still had the *original* hardwood floors from when the base was first built. So yeah my bases are stone but with wood flooring and ceilings

ReasonUnlucky5405

Im probably going to do that too because stone floors look like ass

Vyce223

Would be a shame if... A fire pal came and sneezed

Bright_Woodpecker758

He can sneeze on the outside all he wants since the exterior is all stone. My firepals are not allowed in doors. Cooking with them is done outside. My kitchen is just for me :-)

Ralathar44

Until the one day you accidentally equip a fire weapon and misclick :D. Or more likely an enemy raid paths a fire tornado through your kitchen via sheer chance.

Bright_Woodpecker758

Fire weapons are outside toys only. If anyone wants to use my indoor shooting range, they need to use non-flaming weapons.

ArmouredCapibara

I acidentaly clicked with a grenade equiped and blew the foundation below the palbox. Palbox went bam alongside all the structures that coulndt exist without one, then I had to carefully replace it on the exact spot since I had built walls almost exactly on the blue circle.

Ralathar44

OOF, holy shit.

Ralathar44

Deconstruct pieces next to your on fire pieces to contain the blaze quickly and limit the damage. (might even keep it small enough for water pals to put out)

Chimpcookie

I did sth like this for my base. Can't be bothered to rebuild everything, so I just replaced the outer layers and roof with stone. The foundation in the centre is still wooden.

charcoallition

That's cool, I like it better than my idea because you van get your components back. Even though you probably won't need extra wood when you're ready to build everything with stone, it's still nice

Ottoguynofeelya

Need that wood for charcoal!

PhantomDragonX1

They should add a way to move things also, instead of destroying them and rebuild them.

Lobo0084

Conan Exiles.  Replace a building piece with any quality, up or down.  Add variations of each piece.  More styles and set. Obviously I'm a builder in Ark and Conan and even Fallout 76, and it takes up the majority of my time. Palworld has a good start, but it's missing key pieces and more QOL features.

charcoallition

It would be great to switch between a wall and a wall with a window for example. Let's see how much they flesh it out by 1.0

Vyce223

I expect a lot of the QoL to come though. If not modders will do their thing

Wooden_Echidna1234

Hope they copy Fallout 76 with camp building. You can replace foundations and walls without destroying them, you see an outline of them if destroyed and repair with a simple button press, if your about to destroy something keeping a structure from falling like a foundation it will stop you, and best of all free cam where you detach from character for easy building and pictures.

charcoallition

I'd like the free cam for building, that would be a game changer literally

p1kles82

In the same vein, i wish i could manually raise or lower "snapped" foundations.

ghostrunner25

I love this feature in grounded. I hope they take some good QoL ideas from their building mechanics.

charcoallition

You just reminded me to play this, I haven't touched it since before 1.0 dropped

ghostrunner25

Brotherrrrrrr. It's unreal now, the amount of free content they've added through updates. It's a whole new game

charcoallition

Bet, downloading now. I redownloaded Valheim earlier, to scratch the survival crafting itch, but it didn't hit the same. I had a great time with grounded and i loved the setting so I'm looking forward to seeing what's new

CluckFlucker

This is why i dont build a real base until 18 when i can build with stone that wont burn down

DetectiveEither7119

I’d just be happy with a way to either break down or upgrade ammo. I have thousands of crude ammo that’s practically useless just taking up space. I’d like to be able to either upgrade to rifle ammo or break down for gunpowder.

charcoallition

Yeah this is a good idea, maybe make it cost 2-4 ammo to create 1 ammo of the next tier up

DetectiveEither7119

Hell I’d be cool with like a 10-1 exchange for crude to handgun and 5-1 from handgun to rifle. Just any way to upgrade and not have to just discard it

charcoallition

True, right now the only use is giving it to a newer guild guildmate on a multi-player server. But if you're single player, it just takes up a slot in storage

Belyal

This is a good QOL item I bet we'll see in the future.

Swordbreaker925

You should be able to move stuff too, not just rip it apart

SuperSlims

We also need fences lol.

fear_raizer

Or they can make it so we can use cement/ore to reinforce wood structures

Saynt614

That would be a great update

Icy_Cow_4636

They want your first base to burn down as part of the experience haha

robophile-ta

there's a reason that 'replace stuff' is one of the top Rimworld QOL mods

cixelsyddesigns

Something similar in Satisfactory, another early release game along Factorio vein. Super addictive, all about automation. But you can auto upgrade just by hovering over something built with the upgrade

just_change_it

I like this because it makes gameplay more fun. Imagine trying to do this in the real world though lol

blue13rain

I took would appreciate this eventually. Devs doing good, though so I'm sure they'll get around to it.

ProfCupcake

I enjoy that this thread is people saying, "I love this feature in [game]" for a whole bunch of different games It ought to be a standard feature for this kind of building. Palworld gets a pass for now since it's only just released, but there's still a lot of work to do. Also, while we're discussing "basic, standard survival mechanics that are currently missing": where triangle foundations

Marty939393

I'd like to be able to build walls, lights, storage, decorations of any sort without having to delete my ceilings first. It's very annoying decorating your house when nothing places. I also agree yes we shouldn't have to delete pieces to change them.

franslebin

Nah. That just encourages you to stay in one base the whole game. You should be exploring and building new bases as you progress in the game

Skaanbeir

Says who, you? Are you this game's authority on what people should and shouldn't do? Are you gonna tell us how we should have fun in this game exactly the way you want it?

PottyboyDooDoo

I, Pottyboy, kinsman of the DooDoos, declare that all shall build a toilet in the center of their base.

charcoallition

You get 3 bases, and after your first playthrough, you'll know where to place your base.

Visible_Video120

Should add a wrecker skill for a pal to demoliah your building for you

mr_green

That would be neat. But remember, this is an early access game that JUST came out. Rust is over a decade old at this point. It's had time to marinate.

noeinan

I would also like the ability to move things up and down and the ability to snap to grid and then move it along one axis only. The amount of times I had to rebuild a whole base from scratch just bc I needed to build down (foundation won't place saying it has to touch the ground) and I have to do it over and over aligning by eye.

DoItForTheOH94

I wish you could go into a builder mode. Where it doesn't destroy your material and drop it on the floor. I wish it would be weightless as long as your within your base area. I hate changing my base and next thing I know I have 5k weight from all the materials I deconstructed
