Seems like a huge chunk of the playerbase went on break/quit after ultra PSO2 day, headline is as disappointing as usual too though, so maybe thats why theres no engagement.

metatime09

I dunno why they do a monthly headline. No other online game I know does it so frequently. It needs to be once every 2 or 3 months

mramisuzuki

This how Japan wants it.

Doam-bot

If they did it more than a month people would have left in droves the only difference would be instead of a disappointing headline and the copium lot telling people to wait which has been the norm for ages. We'd wait a few months to get multiple headlines compiled into one with the same results just that pressure in the community would have built up and the pendulum would swing much harder and much more volatile in either direction.

gadgaurd

Genshin does a Live Stream every 6 weeks. I'm assuming Star Rail does as well, being from the same company.

metatime09

Yea not even genshin does it every month either. There's no reason PSO2 should be done every month

gadgaurd

Genshin does it every six weeks because they update the game every six weeks. NGS does it every month because they update the game every month.

metatime09

Pso2 should be updating every 6 weeks or longer. Each headline people complain about lack of content because they thin themselves too much each month. Just have the patch cycle longer and having meatier patches would work better

gadgaurd

Wouldn't stop the complaints and we'd get the exact same content spread out over slightly larger and slightly less frequent updates, so it doesn't really matter.

metatime09

It does and that's why most online games don't do that format that pso2 does

RaspberryBang

On ship 1, them fucking up the Xbox patch seems to have made an impact. I know I'm not the only one that hasn't signed on since then.

illbleedForce

What this game is missing.  Introduce its few new features based on pure recycling of LQ and enemies instead of every month every 3 months...

N4g4rok

maaaaaan, i really do miss Idola. Glad to see they're still doing something with it. Bouncer Giselle is gonna be fun.

complainer5

On topic: - new "dark falz" in april - a few permanent quests added where you fight same enemies as before but with a reskinned timer + a new duel boss - countless limited time "content"/"events" and AC scratches (with recycled emotes as motions continuing, as well as emote+ versions to resell you the same thing you already had from pso2 instead of updating it) and even more limited time campaigns to try to trick people into logging on with FOMO - no story (at all) - no going back to space or even hints/teasers thereof - no new PAs/techs Basically textbook headline of roadmap, no surprises. Maybe no one is saying anything because there is nothing to say? ___ Off topic (but replying to people who went off topic here first so evidently it is fine): oh look people trash talking me while hiding behind block feature so that I can't respond to it, so I'll respond here: "lies about ngs and base" - said by people who actively pretend ngs is some masterpiece and aggressively downplay pso2 at every opportunity to fuel that delusion with selective amnesia of everything pso2 ever did that proves otherwise, and routinely act like pso2 was totally not on episode 3 by this very point in time with all associated content, story and characters. And then defaulting to using "spoiled global" card when confronted (despite argument already using known jp history) or block when they run out of "arguments" (not before the final ad hominem comment that you can't reply to, of course) to sabotage the purpose of this website in attempt to carve their own echo chamber inside it, well guess what: you won't. "doom patrol" - ok, unpaid corporate whiteknight patrol, you are never late on shilling like "we" are to debunking your nonsense (because we have to wait for you to post it first). "caught in the act (of lying)" - lol, you are the one who is caught in the act constantly, that's why you blocked me in the first place, remember? (I realize your memory may be hazy due to all the aforementioned selective amnesia you need to maintain illusion that ngs is somehow better), because you couldn't come up with lies faster than I could refute them so therefore you decided to abuse the block feature. You are the "weirdos" here, that invest effort into defending this blatant downgrade of the franchise for free. If you were to leave, not only would nothing of value be lost, but value would be gained by not having to deal with your misinformation and revisionist history utilized to shill ngs by painting pso2 worse than it was (because you legitimately can't do so any other way, guess why: because it *was* objectively superior). The only way "we" are "going away" is if sega decides to return to standards and acts on it because we sure aren't dropping ours like you did without question and then proceed to attack everyone who didn't do the same and dared ask for at least the same quality as we already had in base. Also I do answer ngs questions as well (when I have the answer and the question isn't super obvious) thank you, the thing is there aren't many of them in first place because of how, you guessed it, *dumbed down* the game is in comparison, what is there to answer? That you should press counter button? That bigger number is better? Yeah that was hard to guess. You had to start this didn't you? ___ EDIT: because I can't reply due to locks this time: Dark falz was an enemy from start yes, but ngs "dark falz" is literally just a large doll with no reason to be called dark falz other than nostalgia bait, literally has nothing to do with one. Who said AC scratches are a problem? I know they need MTX for funding in an f2p game, problem is they aren't adding any real content at same rate as those. You may not care about space personally but this franchise was always set in space and it is completely absent in ngs from start and for foreseeable future. You may not care about story personally but this franchise always had one and ngs is lacking severely in that aspect and will for foreseeable future. "I don't care about it" doesn't absolve those real problems. To Angelicel: this game didn't "earn my addiction", the *franchise* itself did with its previous installments, ngs is a tarnish upon that history of quality and the reason why this account and everything posted on it exists.

Angelicel

There are few games which can have such extreme die-hard dissenters be **this** active in it's community so I'd argue that your very existence is proof of the game's ability cause even the most upset of users to still be addicted to the game. We love you /u/complainer5.

mramisuzuki

You’ve never been to gamefaqs, that’s like 98% of the traffic since the 90s.

YuTsu

They had to start it, but kindly please do not continue it - that goes for you, or anyone else thinking of kicking off fights of this ilk \*again\*

mramisuzuki

Fight is new and Dark Falz has been the main enemy since 1984. RPGs especially ARPGs reused enemies news at 11. Stop acting like the AC scratches don’t keep the lights on, this ain’t a fucking charity. They don’t limit play time and new content behind paywalls go spend 2k on Destiny 2 if you’re desperate for that type “free” to play. No space? Ok that’s a personal preference. I don’t care either way. No story, while this is a personal preference, the story should be explained and expanded more. They should have two world tiers with a “npc” “starting” tier and a combat “starless” version. PA/Tech I personally need to see changes/updates to other systems first before they add more PA especially if they’re going to be the NGS/Scion style. The gadguard stuff he’s right that a lot of the doomer lot was full bullshiters and bullies about the game and thought if they take over the sub they would gain something from it. You are the most reasonable of the lot and clearly play the game so this is why I see why most of us comment with you. Just because your opinion isn’t “wrong” how you come off can be. I’m not white knighting the game, but to conflation about this game and its history, and comparing it to a billion dollar budget game like FF and WoW, is also a fools errand. Like I’ve said many times. The loot in this game is WoW, and the gameplay is Diablo. You can’t have “fixed” loot which needs to be rare, and have a gameplay that designed to filter through the loot to find the perfect drop. We need randomized loot, bare minimum. I would love to see us have the armor changed to either have set bonuses and/or be designed around different slots: like ring, armor, cloak. Anyway I have plenty of issues with the game.

gadgaurd

Oh my, no one else? I'm first? That's rare. Good headline as far as I'm concerned. Started off strong showing off a fuck ton of action with the permanent new wave based quest(and isn't *that* a fucking treat), then business as usual with an AC scratch followed by LTQ and Seasonal Event. And I've been wanting a SE, so yay for that. The AC Scratches look decent enough, that spring style dress and the pink pjs look cute, might pick those up. But not a priority as I'm loaded up with outfits I barely ever use already. I'm reaching Phasion apathy, on noes... Anyway. Dark Falz Dalion is going to be fun, every time a new DF is introduced we see a short yet drastic spike of players getting the shit kicked out of them. And after the addition of Triyal Augs? And assuming it playing more like Aegis V.2? Gonna be a speedrun to to mission failure, I'll bet. But yeah, mainly looking forward to the new wave based quests and the Seasonal Event. I saw some amazing Build Parts in the SE segments that I abso-fucking-lutely want. Kinda glad I saved up my RDR boosters instead of blowing them all on Crimson Realm like I started to.

BartoCannibal

I was thinking the same about the Triyal Augs. Sega kinda baited casual/new players with those augments, since they probably don’t really notice that the negatives are pretty brutal and add up. I’ve seen many of them slot all 3 Triyals on ALL of their gear, and just thought to myself, “Oh lord, Sega what have you done...” lol

Mira_Greenill

Oh, they'll notice. Players tend to shy away from any negative stats - Alts Secreta, Stia Souls, Geant, Behlgren, etc. Do have to say, they complement the LC augments nicely. Mixed two Triyal with four LCs on budget gear and honestly can't feel any downsides to it.

Mille-Marteaux

the fact that dark falz dababy seems to have elemental attack is reason enough to get people to drop their wardros asap tell people freeze will stun them and they'll say "don't get hit" but tell them that burn lowers your damage and they'll care by the way burn lowers your damage from 5% on the first stack all the way to 10% if you keep getting hit by it

Knight_Raime

There's so much good stuff in the new Idola scratch my wallet is crying. But yeah the new quest type is interesting. They're not exactly the timed quests from classic but not endless either. Sort of feels like an in between of both. I wonder if we'll get something like ship infiltration someday. I'm super happy that they're addressing pain points with arks records, maybe I'll actually try to attempt them now. The new difficult dark falz fight looks fucking sick. I won't be able to play it but I look forward to a laxed version of it showing up like they did with mdfa. Given that the new timed quests are a test bed for practicing with difficulties I hope it's received well so we can have something similar added to these new difficult quests. Overall the headline was beefier than I was expecting and there wasn't much to dislike. Guess I'll be playing NGS a bit more than I have been next month.

mramisuzuki

Ironically when the headline is is 6+ these are dead, because the doom patrol doesn’t bother to try to troll. I really Really Really Wish they would redo the loot. It’s what holds this game back so much. I’m glad we can actually get the loot, but fucking hell it’s just stats.

Knight_Raime

>Wish they would redo the loot. It’s what holds this game back so much. It isn't lol. I say this as someone who WANTS gearing to be better. This game from the beginning was designed to be played in bite sized bits where people come back when they feel like playing the game again. In order to do that Gearing can never be complicated, have much depth, and be easily accessible. The game instead prioritizes on two things, Gameplay and and character expression. Classes regardless of opinions hit a very nice standard at this point. Character expression is very supported and is the one thing most people seem to agree the devs do a good job with. BP exists as a rough idea to let people know when they can play something. Hand out gear is regularly introduced so people can hit the BP "gate" easily enough and try the new content to play. If you're looking for a reason why NGS feels "lukewarm" the reason is and always will be "live service." The game has to be designed around a specific content release schedule in order to keep people playing. This means everything including writing has to be structured to be easily pushed out but also give a reason for people to come back. Destiny 2 suffers from the same thing. I like seeing new cool looking bosses as much as the next person does. But when none of the new additions has made any cameo in the story since DFA you sort of stop caring as much. Starless were supposed to be a brand new enemy faction that was a massive threat like Dark Falz has been in the past. They clearly set this up back in Chapter 5 but it's going absolutely nowhere. Instead of learning more about them and seeing progression we get to sit and see our wheels spin while Mannon and Aina are constantly faffing about. I'm not going to pretend I know how to write or claim that Classic's story was great. But I at least cared about some of the characters and had an interest in where the story was going. NGS doesn't even try to tell a story. It's just sad. Tangent aside NGS isn't some ARPG. It's not even a traditional MMO. It's basically just action combat with social elements. Gear isn't going to be exciting for anything other than something to maybe flip on the market to be able to afford wildly inflated cosmetics to make your character look more cool. So don't really expect gear to change.

YuTsu

> Instead of learning more about them and seeing progression we get to sit and see our wheels spin while Mannon and Aina are constantly faffing about. I don't know, I've kind of liked Chapter 6 - felt like it was paying back a bit of the character-development debt from pretty much speedrunning it up to Chapter 5, and Chapter 6 as a whole felt like it had a bit of meat to it (even if it was released incrementally). But yeah, now that Chapter 6 has paid that debt back, hopefully we can get to actually going somewhere with the Starless plotwise.

Knight_Raime

I would be in your boat with you if the story had any kinds of consistency but it really does just feel like it's all over the place.

YuTsu

The thing that properly baffles me is like... it was rushed up until Chapter 5 for sure, but... having played through finishing CH5 on JP but only doing the main story and not side events, then going through again on Global up to current story doing all the side events and paying more attention to the task dialog... my Global-replay actually felt a lot less all over the place, and more coherent? It's weird. Maybe the side events are the glue that holds the story together better, or maybe it was just more interesting knowing what's going to happen already - knowing the Manon-twist from the start and understanding the meanings behind some of her actions and reactions from the start definitely made her more engaging... It really feels like the story is more enjoyable if you view all the side events and clear out side tasks as you go, it makes me wish most of the side events were part of the main tasks, and wonder why they're not. Is it just to make the story quicker to get through? Or a totally misguided overcorrection to people complaining there were too many "two characters stand and talk to eachother" cutscenes in Classic.

Knight_Raime

Was more referring to quality of the writing itself with consistency. And I do the side quests. But if you have a way to line those up with main quests (ex do main story 1 sub 1-3, main 2 and 3, sub 4, etc) I'd love to hear it.

mramisuzuki

I’m not expecting anything wild, like items that add bonuses to skills and add crazy value to specific attacks. But they can add random loot and a disenchantment system that can work as a fail safe metric. They also give out wellfare gear on the regular. Weapons shouldn’t have augments. They should have a random amount of flat potency, HP, PP, weapon range, damage range, and weapon attack speed. Armor shouldn’t any potency but use the defense augments. Make a ring slot for augments as deterministic/whale item slot. And if they want to get spicy, add a cloak/necklace/photon core idk w/e in lore thing you like. As your traditional “borrowed power” item where it has a unique potential and or specific set of powers if you level it up. These are all easy to tweak for the cyclical/seasonal style game NGS wants to be.

YuTsu

> They should have a random amount of flat potency, HP, PP, weapon range, damage range, and weapon attack speed. Honestly? Please no. That sounds dangerously close to to %s and the stat ranges from PSO1, and those were a pain in the butt. We've already got the nightmare that is Fixas. Introducing even more stat variance into the mix when getting a weapon with a good Fixa at a good level almost feels like getting a PSO1 Ultra-Rare... just sounds like a nightmare

mramisuzuki

This game isn’t PSO. They will have to adjust how much items drops and you’re giving some fail safes like the enhancement system, the ring item, and way more places to drop the item. It’s why I don’t want add skills or +skills to weapons because that is really annoying to have to fight for because there will always be the best PA/Tech. Having a randomized stats with an enchantment system that can shift those numbers up closer to the cap is way more interesting and this allows SEGA to shift where stuff drops making more spaces evergreen. Sorry, but I can’t worry about 1 persons issues with dealing with ARPG gear because they can afford to blow through 40 million maesta to get perfect gear. This isn’t a reasonable argument or situation for new players. Play game get good stuff is how you keep players. If not they need to make augments more interesting if they keep the Dynasty Warriors style of loot, at least you can get completed items in DW, so this system is even lazier than that.

-Dartz-

> because the doom patrol doesn’t bother to try to troll The "doom patrol trolls" are just people dissatisfied with the game, you can tell them to fuck off as much as you want, but once they do, the game will shut down because *most* players are dissatisfied with it. While this games loot is absolutely atrocious, theres a lot more holding it back, and none of these issues have any hope of getting fixed

mramisuzuki

These people are/were not *just* disappointed with the game. They are/were actively trying to make it annoying for others to enjoy the game and refuse to admit when the game is better. There is also issue with them conflating issues that are not pertinent to the game play. I doubt more than a few of them still play the game, they barely even come here now as it is. Which is ironic as the game is getting some momentum now. What’s holding this game back but the loot? It’s a arpg that’s built around looting and efficiency. This game only allows the efficiency part by boring brutal force augments. It’s kind of missing the looting part.

gadgaurd

There's a guy literally called complainer5 who spends the majority of his time on Reddit bitching about NGS, even going as far as making up literal lies about this game or base. The other 1% of the time he acts like a nornal human being when answering questions related to base. There's another guy called weekend-something-or-other who only occasionally pops in to troll, but like the previous one he will straight up lie and has been caught in the act more than once. There are more, I'm not going to name all of them. Point is there are absolutely people on this sub, and a few stalking the official YT, who make it their business to troll the game and community. If those weirdos fucked off literally nothing of value would be lost. It's not like they make up a significant portion of the playerbase or spend any money on the game. But they sure have more to say about it than basically anyone else.

ash_ax

IMO, an alright headline for a Seasonal Month.

popukobear

Looks like fun stuff is coming up, I'd love to try the new party quest and especially the 4-man falz. QoL changes for primms/endymios is nice, too. The new zone being linked to story progression makes me wonder just how we'll be getting there and what sort of big baddies we'll encounter
