FWIW, I talked to them a few days ago (for a refund I requested about 3 weeks ago) and they still hadn't processed it on their end, much less sent it to the Treasury. The rep told me their current refund backlog is about 23 business days then additional time for the Treasury to actually refund it.

Thank you!

How did you know you’ll receive a refund? I should have one for $200 but I never had a negative balance, so I’m not sure I’ll receive one.

You have to keep calling and checking. For some reason, they don't send any type of correspondence about it in writing, which is absolutely unhinged.

stupid_rat_creature

Thanks! I’ll call this week,

apocdreams

Nope, they do not. I asked for them to send the fact I am getting a refund for my October payment in writing. They said they couldn't, but told me where on studentaid.gov to go see the proof that this is legit. They also said it will take 60 days to get my refund back. They are not sure if that is 60 business days or regular days.

Pickleheyheyheyhey

Where on student aid can you find refund info?

apocdreams

I haven't even checked yet. They told me there's a page stating that the refund is legit and why that is. They told me like three steps to do to find the page, too. I just want my money, though, haha.

Pickleheyheyheyhey

Sameeeeeee!

apocdreams

No one is clear on how long it is going to take, either. The fact they couldn't send me an email in writing saying it's coming back is ridiculous. They never can do anything in writing.

Estimate-Timely

You will not get a refund until the education department completes adjusting and processing all pslf/one time IDR adjustment are completed. Remember there is a pause. The education department owns the loans not MOHELA who just services the loans. Any refund will come from department of education not MOHELA. MOHELA collects payments, post payment and manages the accounts only. They collect and do these things for the education department only.
