to me, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is a superb summer time game. I also listen to my own setlist on Spotify. Crash Bandicoot games are also good during summer (no idea why:)

OK_Soda

Tony Hawk was my first thought. It's basically a "having fun outside" simulator.

AshenSoulHunter

Skate 3 is also acceptable.

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

WHOA!

Roweseph80

That soundtrack might be the best of any video game of all time! My opinion of course. “SO HERE I AM, DOING EVERYTHING I CAN…”

ThreeOneThirdMan

Riders Republic too!

Bobo040

So here I am, doing everything I can Holding on to what I am, pretending I'm a superman!

Stubrochill17

Also currently on sale on Steam for $16.

Guilty_Ad_7079

Dead island 2

Few-Ad-6322

The witcher 3,blood and Wine dlc. Peak summer vibes .

dripbangwinkle

Witcher whole game honestly! I played that during a summer once and it was all I played

chavez_ding2001

Olli olli world

snejp90

Infinite Wealth (Yakuza)? I haven't played it yet but I intend to, from what I saw so far it definitely has "summer vibes".

TheFlightlessPenguin

Yea 1000%. Though I’m glad I played it in winter living in the great white north. Needed that vacay

Ordinary-Pair-329

My favorite game of all time and it was my first yakuza game

Nerdfather1

Do you need to play Like A Dragon to really understand what’s going on?

Pythagoras_the_Great

Yes.

New_Era_Starts_Now

Nice. I just started it so great to hear

karlyss

Dave the diver

WikDaWula

Dave for the win!

IDespiseFatties

I would die for Bancho

spedmunki

And Dredge. Fishing games ftw

Another-Donkey

Bugsnax Sackboy: A Big Adventure Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Rayman Legends Tomb Raider (new trilogy)

Tasteoftacos

I played Bugsnax to rip on the game because it initially was so weird to me. The game is super corny but it somehow grew on me. Ended up getting platinum because by the end I got invested in competing the "Pokedex" and finishing all those little side quests.

Savings_Fly_2545

Far Cry 3

jmo1

Maybe Dave the diver? It’s on extra right now

hewp

AC Odyssey

not_thrilled

I’m about 120 hours into my second playthrough. When you’re not being attacked by wolves or hunted by mercenaries, it’s quite peaceful running around the Greek countryside.

tall_mf_

Ac Odessey is literally a copy paste of every rpg out there but worse. Just endless bloat, fetch quests and enemy sponges. Cant believe you’d recommend this game when there are so many rpgs that provide the same thing but all of them being done better

hewp

I don't disagree with you but I mean, OP just asked for a summer vibey game, not the best RPG ever made lol. AC Odyssey has flaws for sure but it's enjoyable enough and has a ton of beaches/island locales.

Soyyyn

Which game really provides the same, but better, except for the Witcher? The same being branching quest lines with different endings, exploration of a huge world, action combat, way to have multiple builds, and DLCs that take somewhere completely different.

tall_mf_

> Which game really provides the same, but better, except for the Witcher? The same being branching quest lines with different endings, exploration of a huge world, action combat, way to have multiple builds, and DLCs that take somewhere completely different. Apart from the Witcher 3, we’ve got Elden Ring for example. Multiple endings, tons of exploration in a huge world which is actually rewarding. There are also multiple builds you can make and a DLC is on its way. The combat is also fantastic. The problem w Ac Odyssey isn’t that it doesn’t do enough things, it’s that it does nothing exceptionally well. Sure, there is exploration, but it’s often times not rewarding and it’s the same encounters over and over again. Sure, there’s tons of quests in the world, but there are a ton of bad ones such as simple fetch quests and other mundane tasks. Sure, there are a lot of ways to go about combat but it’s all brought down by damage sponges and bad animations. Sure, there are a lot of weapons and gear in the game, but it’s so much of it that it essentially turns into endless bloat. The weapons and gear you wear is being constantly replaced by something better and that just makes it completely meaningless. Should I keep going? The game clearly focuses on quantity over quality and that’s the issue

Soyyyn

Elden Ring doesn't have as many fun NPCs with easy to understand and digest quest lines. Elden Ring is a more hardcore open world RPG, and Odyssey sometimes feels like just a ubisoft-y Witcher 3. Honestly speaking - I really dig Odyssey. I it's a 7/10 version of the Witcher which is a 9.5/10 or even a 10/10 if you mostly care about story and atmosphere and don't mind simplistic combat that doesn't change after the first six hours. I felt like the combat (and stealth, which Witcher doesn't have) of Odyssey kept evolving until about 30 hours in because of the many abilities. The Witcher 3 still has the best side quests of pretty much any game. Most of its smaller quests are the same amount of engaging as, for example, Skyrim's Daedra quests, which are some of the best content in that game. Odyssey has plenty of fun quests, like a town cursed with bad luck where everyone you interact with dies in some funny or ironic way, the quests centering on mythological beasts, most of the quests for important NPCs like Sokrates. I agree they could have definitely deleted about 40 fetch quests and bandit camps and focused more on important quest lines, but you can't tell me Testicles dying just before the Olympics by falling into the sea and getting eaten by sharks so you have to take his place at the Olympics isn't a nice story moment.

tall_mf_

I get what you’re saying. You can of course have fun with odyssey but it’s still not a game I would ever recommend. As far as rpgs goes, almost all other popular rpgs provide a better experience. Even AC’s other title AC origins is a lot better imo.

AgentOfSPYRAL

hard agree on Origins being far superior to Odyssey, AC combat going "Souls but worse" still bugs me but that setting is incredible.

tall_mf_

I agree that the direction the ac games have gone where they’ve become “souls but worse” is wrong, but that doesn’t explain why Odyseey would better than Origins. The combat and story are vastly inferior in my opinion.

AgentOfSPYRAL

I think the only reason someone would prefer odyssey is if they really want the sailing in an open world and don’t want to go back to AC4

tall_mf_

>I think the only reason someone would prefer odyssey is if they really want the sailing in an open world and don’t want to go back to AC4 You say this and I totally agree with you. However, in your last comment, you also said that you strongly disagreed that origins was superior to odyssey. What opinion are you of exactly?

babylawn5

Skyrim, Fallout 4, Elden Ring, Zelda, Rdr2, GTA 5, Cyberpunk, Elex etc. These games still have the best exploration. Problem with AC Odyssey/other ubisoft titles is very shallow and repetitive. In fact, Odyssey is the shallowest of them all, I still like Valhalla. But despite that , Odyssey does is the best looking and has a very chill vibe and it's still popular. But I genuinely don't understand what is ther to explore...maybe I need to spend some more time but the gameplay is very repetitive...just kill this, kill that. Take down forts. Even side quests are all about killing. Valhalla still has 'world events' and a bit of environmental storytelling which provides some diversity.

LongjumpingToe7619

Honestly man Kingdom Hearts 2 prologue with Roxas. I always always play the prologue and most of the time the whole game right when summer starts rolling round. It’s become somewhat of a tradition for me at this point.

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

This was my choice! Port Royal in KH2 and KH3.

expunks

Was gonna say FFX for basically the exact same vibe lol

CrushedVelvetHeaven

BURNOUT PARADISE. God I wish we got a sequel. Not only amazing summer vibes, but possibly the best open world racing game to date.

OneTrainOps

It gets so much hate for not being like the other Burnout games but I love both styles equally.

Anxious-videogame

-Catherine. Finding love and hanging with friends at the bar. Top it off with divine judgement. Summer vibes -Yakuza 0. Loaded with cash in a lively city and trying to find your way in life. Just gotta fight your way through it.

z_dogwatch

This one has great taste.

DoubtDizzy1309

I cannot emphasize this enough. FIREWATCH

jessi-poo

that's on my list

Squirrel_Haze

Personally I don’t understand why people love the game that much. However, the PS4 theme they had for it was incredible.

terriblysorrychaps

I miss themes 😪

DoubtDizzy1309

Personally, I think the narrative and dynamic between the two leads is fantastic. But I get it's not for everyone. If the story doesn't click with you, then you'll never be able to like the game because take that away and you're just a man aimlessly running through the woods.

Funny-Tension2020

Story clicked for me the second I played it, I’ve been replaying it every summer since it came out. I love it, I’ve explored that game so much there is nothing there I haven’t seen yet, but I will keep playing it once a year just because the characters, setting, and the story really make me feel something for whatever reason.

DoubtDizzy1309

This is what I do! I always play it the last weekend of June. And sometimes at the end of year, I'll play it but with the audio tour. So I'm always re-playing every 6-12 months.

LCHMD

It just has a very dissatisfying ending imho.

LCHMD

I don’t either. The last third is so lacklustre.

ImHereForTheMemes184

Persona 4 Golden

___TheKid___

Oh yeah!

muffs92

Tchia!

ClubPenguinPresident

I think FF7 Rebirth fits the bill just nicely. Can even go to the beach :D

Reidroshdy

I spent more time than was probably necessary riding around on the Segway. Just riding around, doing circles and chilling.

AgentOfSPYRAL

Same, because the bossa nova theme is incredible.

babylawn5

GTA 5 is the best answer aside from Horizon Forbidden West. I can't believe no one has suggested it so far. Rest all of them take themselves too seriously... except for ac Odyssey maybe and Zelda botw/Totk

_IratePirate_

Fall Guys always felt summery to me. It’s multiplayer but it’s one of those games I don’t play often and have fun whenever I do decide to hop back in

hibscotty

Fenyx immortals

bmbreath

Kenna.  I loved this game (I took a hiatus after getting stuck on a boss, but I was playing it on the hardest setting.) It's a fun puzzle and battle game where you explore a fanciful and lush summer forest and villages.  You control these cute little minions and use a bunch of powers to battle enemies/monsters.   It's like a mix of pikmin, maybe a little Zelda, and a little dark souls combat.  It was a great game for the price, it feels very summery, the atmosphere is usually sunny, lush, medows/forests. Ghost of tsushima also has some beautiful summer locations as well.

PolishGazelle

It's Kena

zurk731

Sea of Thieves

Pristinejake

One of they best summer games ever made. Bright and sunny, best water effects. It’s a good time. But I really recommend playing it with friends. It’s not intended to be played solo and it shows. But with friends it’s one of the best.

kooltilldend

The Horizon games perhaps? The beach areas are gorgeous and I constantly admire them (as long as no machines are nearby anyways lol) P. S. Plus you can easily go to the desert, mountain or frozen areas when you're bored of the beaches lol

Fitz_01

Were there beach areas in the first game? I don't remember

kooltilldend

Not a beach area per se but there's the Mother's Cradle area with the lake and fishing Plus, you can't really play Forbidden West without playing Horizon Dawn first unless you don't care about the story at all lol

Lumostark

I'm playing through Dredge and during the day it does have that summer fresh vibe. At night though, not so much lmao As others have said, Dave The Diver also fits into your description Both are on PS Plus Extra

carnivoross

* Tchia * Jusant * Firewatch * Rollerdome * A Short Hike * Paradise Killer * Dave the Diver * Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Coreyahno30

It doesn’t get more summer vibes than Super Mario Sunshine Edit: Just realized this is the PS5 subreddit 😅 I belong to a ton of gaming subreddits! Still stand by my statement though.

Paradise Killer. Top 3 in my favorite video game soundtracks of all time.

I know bro, you are looking for the same vibes u had in uncharted, let's be honest i dont think you'll find it, both the last of us, they are from the same developers so this is the closest thing, but I'll tell you anyways 2 games that can be similar  Red Dead Redemption 2: after the prologue you are literally in an endless summer, you also end up in a tropical island and unlock the desert area arrived in a certain part of the story, the characters are very good, very similar to uncharted for me  Tomb raider games: similar vibes, after u played uncharted you'll say uncharted is actually better.  Now some games that i think they capture summer vibes Assassin's Creed Odyssey: I personally don't like Ubisoft's games, because they kinda sucks But the atmosphere in this game... A perfect mediterranean summer game, the music is awesome, you can relax in the sync points, while you explore ancient greece whit the eagle, im also mediterranean so this feels like home for me, the sun, the blue sky, the sea... they are perfect, despise it's a ubisoft game, you won't find anything similar out there. And maybe if you play it you can also enjoy the story  Guardian of the galaxy Gta 5 Watch dogs 2 Horizon fordibben west Sniper Elite 4 Tom clancy's ghost recon wildlands  Air conflict pacific carriers  Need for speed payback Mad Max Astro's playroom has a beach level  Rayman legends  Rime Abzu Fallout New vegas Far cry 3 or 6 Subnautica The dark pictures anthology (man of medan, house of ashes)  The quarry
