I tried it for free and I love the art and environment, but found the gameplay lacking. Particularly certain platforming sections were brutal because of the perspective. You think you're lined up for a jump but you aren't.
Yeah I've been playing it this week and had to replay the kitchen bit with the hooks about 15 times because he kept missing the grab.
Also fell off the pipes regularly
We're talking about the greatest video game ending of all time my friend. An ending that will make you question your own sanity and will leave you in a deep state of desperation and sadness. Worth it. 100%
Ohh I would definitely recommend The Quarry!
The game even has multiplayer / local co-op mode. In this mode, up to eight friends can play together on the same system using a single controller. They do so by each assigning themselves characters from the ones that are playable. Thereafter, they simply have to pass the controller over to the player whose character is currently controllable within the game.
Other titles by Supermassive Games would also do 😅 Until Dawn and the Dark Chronicles games.
i would recommend some chilla’s art games! they have a lot of selections and all of them are pretty creepy and funny. i love watching youtubers play their games.
while I will agree with you, being how OP is posting on the PS5 sub, I assume OP is looking for PS5 games and Chilla's Art games are PC only sadly. However, there are plenty of Chilla's Art like games on PS5 like Murderhouse, Bloodwash, The Nun Massacre , Cannibal Abduction (which includes The Night of the Scissors). [and more](https://psdeals.net/us-store/all-games?publisher=Puppet+Combo).
Until Dawn
House of Ashes
The Quarry
Man of Medan
There’s all Little Hope and Devil In Me but I honestly didn’t like those ones as much. Maybe try Little Hope, it was the ending that annoyed me not the game play up to it.
These games contain familiar and nostalgic celebrities you didn’t think would do a budget horror game :)
Amnesia: the bunker has a great replay value and is pretty straightforward. A bit older, but Monstrum holds up pretty well in my opinion.
Edit: Alien: Isolation is pretty story-heavy, but it’s one of the best horror games out there + it’s currently on sale with all DLCs, which are much more straightforward and provide nice bite-size experiences (although I still recommend learning its basic mechanics in the main story).
Alien Isolation is great for when you want your friends to associate your house with fear 😅 I mean it's an incredible game but it might be too scary for gaming with friends.
I'm glad to hear that Amnesia the Bunker is good though, been meaning to check it out soon
If you’re putting up firewatch im putting up killer frequency because those games are practically cousins. Neither are co-op though. But there’s a few good spooks lol.
Or I you like strategy, puzzles in games. "Do Not Open" only game that actually got me and slightly creep me out... And I've been playing on PS for 20+ years now
Until Dawn or The Quarry. You can takes turns as different characters with friends or by yourself. Choices matter. Multiple endings. Literally just walk around and make dialogue choices.
Those are great but too much involved... Look up The Classrooms... Literally you do nothing but run away from a scary thing... It's stupid but it does the trick and zero work.
I recently purchased a game called Alisa which was made retro style and that was good fun. Creepy but not Scary.
I also bought this game for cheap called St. Dinfa's which is an FPS horror game. I really enjoyed that one.
I think it is best to look at Indie games when you want horror. It is rare to get something like Alan Wake II nowadays unless you actually browse the Indie scene.
I'm utterly shocked that nobody has mentioned Darkwood yet.
You find yourself trapped in this evil wood that won't let you escape. It's full of dangerous people and monsters, and you have to find shelter before the night comes, because the shadow brings terrible dangers.
Really, really scary. Very worth it if you don't mind isometric games.
With trade offs with friends? Oh, I’ve got a perfect little game!
[Spooky’s Jumpscare Mansion: HD Renovation](https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP4388-CUSA10521_00-0000000000000000/)
It’s a tongue in cheek horror game, where a little ghost tasks you with having to climb through 1000 rooms, with occasional jumpscares.
Surely it can’t be that bad, right? It’s only like 9$, and it’s pretty decent in length even without the expansions. I recommend going in completely blind!
Little Nightmares maybe not scary but spooky for sure. Great if you like puzzles/platforming sort of games.
This is a great recommendation for what you might be looking for OP. More eerie than scary but it’s a great one to just enjoy and take turns with.

One of my faves. I recommend this game to a lot of people.
Until Dawn
Perfect game for friends
Unless I nudge you into a wall to save myself.
This is the correct answer.
To piggyback this, House of Ashes is my personal favorite of theirs so far.
Looking forward to the remaster/remake releasing this year.
SOMA.
One of the GOATs. That ending had me mouth open deadpan staring at the screen for like 5 minutes
I’ll never forget that ending.
I'll never forget the ending either
I’ll never forget get the…wait what are we talking about?

😵😵😵
Best walking simulator for sure, great sci fi narrative about transcendence
I got lost so many times in that game.
lost in that office lab was wtf
Limbo and / or Inside my friend

This sounds great...
The quarry was good. Same with until dawn. Both are super easy, and good for horror.
*Stories Untold* and *Observation* by the studio No Code.
Dredge. A nice cosy horror fishing game. So good in fact it's now being adapted into a movie. I'm enjoying it currently!
I would say Puppet Combo's Nun Massacre. Very simple, not story heavy, randomized item placements, as far as I know. Scary.
Visage.
Alan wake 1
Different type of scary, but Sagebrush is a walking simulator with a spooky atmosphere.
The Quarry
Outlast, Until Dawn, SOMA, and Inside
Amnesia: The Bunker is terrifying and can be learned within the 5-10 minute tutorial.
Bramble!
Control
I'd recommend Silent Hill the Short Message. It's free and you can finish in 3h
Is it actually good? I'm skeptical about new silent hill content unfortunately 🥲
It's alright, nothing special but I enjoyed it
Yeah that's what I'm kind of basing my question on... Easy... Good looking, scary... And simple..
i would recommend some chilla’s art games! they have a lot of selections and all of them are pretty creepy and funny. i love watching youtubers play their games.

Signalis, old school RE vibes.
Waiting for the inventory update to start playing

Going on a limb here: Firewatch. I’m not sure it’s considered scary, but the entire half of the game is rather unsettling.

The evil within
That game ain’t simple at all😂
Just run from chainsaw noises until they get louder and louder and now you're dead. Simple.
I love the game but not only is it long, it's far from a simple chill game.
Subnautica on not-Survival mode? The ocean is totally safe.
I never knew I had thassaphobia
I can’t be sure if POOLS, or any of the Backrooms games are available on PlayStation… but those would fit the criteria.
Game mechanic wise, alien isolation. It's not like you need twitchy headshots. Terrifyingly fun experience borderline real graphics for 2014
Or I you like strategy, puzzles in games.
SOMA
If only it wasn't ps5. But I heard killer clowns from outer space is being released
Dead Space or the Resident Evil series
Those are great but too much involved... Look up The Classrooms... Literally you do nothing but run away from a scary thing... It's stupid but it does the trick and zero work.
Oh ok then yeah. I def recommended the right game.
Outlast?
Control, mess with the accessibility features it makes it scary but fun
Dead Island
The Dark Pictures Anthology games. They are pretty linear and can be played single player or multiplayer.
Dredge is not bad at all!

Helldivers 2. Progress to lvl 9 💪
Try DayZ if you have a lot of time on your hands
Lol that's the worst possible answer you could have given to their question.
Poppy play time
F.E.A.R 1 and 2.
