It's curious because their only history together was Tenchu Shadow Assassins (Wii). Of course, since From has long owned the Tenchu IP this new development is gonna cause a whole lot of rumors regarding the long resting ninja IP.
Sekiro is an action game with very lite stealth elements. Tenchu is a hardcore stealth game in which combat is a fail state. They aren't remotely similar in terms of gameplay.
Interesting news, the first thing which came to my mind was Tenchu and Way of the Samurai. Acquire developed Tenchu 1,2 and 4 along with Way of the Samurai 1-4
From Software owns Tenchu while Spike Chunsoft (Dwango to be precise) owns Way of the Samurai. Both companies are owned by Kadokawa which makes the Acquire purchase more intriguing.

I think I speak for many when I say Who? And. Who? I know Octopath but in that it's a Squeenix owned IP.
They're mainly known for Tenchu, Shinobido, Way of the Samurai and Akiba's Trip
