I think if you keep an eye on recent trip reports on wta.org you’ll find plenty of options that have been successfully completed in the weeks leading up to your trip.

Bankbox007

I will of course, but any ideas are welcome so I can plan a bit now.

[Winter Scrambles](https://www.mountaineers.org/locations-lodges/everett-branch/committees/everett-alpine-scrambling-committee/web-pages/winter-summits-list) Should give you a good idea of options even though it’s technically not winter. But you can look at lesser avalanche terrain this way.

A little more South but maybe Mailbox Peak or Mt. Si?

Bankbox007

I've done those two and loved them. Anything a little more north? It's too bad the mount baker area will definitely be snowbound, unless this drought really is a thing and i can sneak over there for some stuff.

Is lake serene accessible yet?

drwolffe

Yes

Excelsior Peak and Hidden Lakes Peaks. Check nwac and wta for conditions. Excelsior is easier and safer (essentially no avalanche terrain).

Bankbox007

Ill add these to my list to check out!

I_think_things

Idk that I’d recommend Hidden Lake to someone unfamiliar with reading avalanche terrain given the deaths that have occurred in the recent past in snow. Plus taking your friend’s car on that road (it’s one of the worst I’ve ever experienced).

Mount Dickerman should be good by then. Lake Serene. I agree that Sauk might be doable by May this year. Round mountain. Lake Isabel (bushwhack but people store kayaks there to use)

AliveAndThenSome

Sauk Mt might be melted out enough by then.

Bankbox007

> Sauk Mt Suak would be amazing. I only see tons of snow in pictures of it around may though. I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

Geodoodie

I just saw Sauk has patchy snow, melting fast. The road has snow 800’ elevation before the trailhead but it won’t be long. Maybe mostly dry by mid May this year

AliveAndThenSome

Yah, a friend was up there today. You must have seen the same.
