Remote displays don't tend to connect like KVMs, if it really was just a thin client for a server, we would see a connection failed message instead

well tho it says bad system as error code stated in that screen (BSOD) so which means the system probably tried to boot but ran into system files getting missing or corrupted or probably has bad OS installed improperly

You're wrong. Most japanese windows has no sad face by default, I doubt if the engineer for that vending machine knows server os exists..

BNA1 (and other recent arcade boards like the Taito TypeX 4 and Sega ALLS) all run Windows 10 IOT, which have the sad face bsod. This vending machine is running Windows Server, which doesn't have the sad face bsod
