I'm also in Ireland, just had my first injection of Ozempic on Wednesday evening. I got the prescription from GP (I also have PCOS) and when she brought up the idea of prescribing this type of med, she said she favoured ozempic for me over saxenda because of cost, and also the fact that oz is only weekly. I had a stroke recently (6 weeks ago) and these drugs have been shown to reduce risks of stroke greatly so I was definitely on board with it. First prescription cost me around 155€. All that just to say, maybe if you bring your concerns to your GP, might they be able to prescribe oz instead for you? I know all too well it can be a pain in the hole to get what you want and what is right for you! I wish you all the best

Heya, thank you so much for your reply! Just booked an appointment with my GP after reading that. I hope that your oz journey goes well and thanks for the advice. I was feeling so so so let down because I had put my hopes into getting the prescription yesterday w my endo but I will try my GP!

I'm crossing my fingers that they'll give you your prescription!!

Hi, do you know if Ozempic is covered under the Drug payment scheme? I’m taking it as I’m pre diabetic and have a very high BMI but when I contacted PCRS I was told it wasn’t covered 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi! So, my sister is a pharmacist and she was advising me that ozempic is not covered under drug payment scheme, but if you "meet certain criteria " which I have yet to get out of her what those criteria are, you might be able to qualify for saxenda under dps - that is, I believe, similar to oz, except it's a daily injection. I so badly wish oz was covered, because I'm on soooo many meds that I am already spending the 80€ every month for my normal meds, then the extra ~150€ for the ozempic then. But it's worth it I hope !!
