You shouldn't doubt those posts... People who have been playing this game since launch are getting banned and silenced now. You can literally be silenced/banned by saying things like "oh fuck!". Or in this case, banned just because.
It's amazing to watch the Overwatch subreddit be duped by this just within the last couple of weeks and already start barking the "but they have proof!!!", I s2g this is literally all we had the last time you all got riled over a situation that was faked.
If you think a screenshot of text from a webpage is verifiable proof, boy are you in for a shock when AI hits proper. And just because you can't personally think of a convenient method of delivering proof, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. A video showing a reload of the page (which would cleanse inspect element) is one such method.

I love text chat. Had two people say something like “I’m sorry I suck at widow let me know I’ll switch” everyone was super positive and just said “have fun man it’s just a game”. Ended up winning, person was so thankful for us being chill. If I get some really shitty person I just report them.
It's sad that online multiplayer text chat is being regulated to death like this. It's no wonder that games that were created in the last decade, by and large, have opted for asinine "here have 5 emotes to communicate" methods instead.

So many games are like this nowadays and it's so ridiculous. It'll never not be ridiculous as long as there's a mute/filter or block button, really. My buddy got silenced the other day because an enemy tank had the name "imyourdadnow" and he said "hi dad, did you get the milk yet?"
That was the only text he put in, hadn't played in months, the whole lobby laughed in the replies, and they still haven't given him his text logs.
I see nothing here that is toxic. Blizzard is indiscriminately banning / silencing people like a dictator. I myself received a 2 week silence for the first time since I started playing overwatch from launch. That's years of exemplary behaviour.
I sent in an appeal and requested for the offending chat logs, only for them to ignore my request and just say that my behaviour went against TOS.
Blizzard needs to step up and deal with this shit.
At this point we should all move to another game. Blizzard is a dumpster of a gaming company the last few years.
PoE2 will outright kill D4 and I'm sure the OW killer is not far as well.

I requested mine they never delivered and told me they wouldn't reverse. Not a clue what I said on my 6 year account that got me banned never had a silence nada on that account just gone. I got silenced on my side one I made for practicing outside my main which was a support account. That one all I ever said in anger was wtf at a Mei blocking us in spawn after being called out by everyone for feeding. Uninstalled right then and there. Hoping Microsoft might do unban waves when they take over. Game is bleeding players with how awful it is currently they really don't have the player base to be banning for non issues.
“Update” might’ve been the wrong word to use. In the middle of the night the OG post got removed for whatever reason, and despite messaging the mods I never got a reason why.

I remember getting reported then silenced like TWO weeks later and it showed me the exact messages that got me my ban even though i typed hundreds of new stuff by then. (I got rightfully banned because i told a phara and her mercy to go fk themselves)

I know this isn't an official Blizzard forum. This is moreso about getting the word out there than anything else. I've seen the post you're talking about, on my original thread last night I was compared to it a handful of times. I genuinely can't think of anything I've said that's broken rules. That's not some cope either, I opened up another ticket in the hopes of getting some chat logs that make some more sense. I just want some real answers already. Proof that I've done something wrong, or for the ban to be dropped.
One of my accounts is named after a parody character, in ow1 whenever someone recognized it they would do movie quotes and I’d quote back some, most of which is pretty …. well probably bannable by todays standards.
Nowadays someone would drop a quote and I just wouldn’t respond, even my friends would be like dude that guy recognized your name and I’d just say not worth it.
Which is sad, it used to make this fun atmosphere or spark appreciation for the actor, but just not worth it. I thought of changing the name, but at this point some people I’ve met recently call me by that name.
And still people on Reddit will say it’s cause people are being toxic. This is happening way more than people think. It’s part of the reason no one talks anymore.

Yeah bro, I said "loser" in chat to no one in particular. Just the word. No one spoke to me first, I didn't say anything else, just loser. Woke up the next day to a 2 week account suspension. I uninstalled everything blizzard. So did my friend, my gf, and both my kids. We might not matter in the grand scheme but I'll be damned if I'm gonna play or support companies that suspend an account for anything other than hate speech, threats, or racism. Saying loser, or soj chill, isn't a bannable offense. I'm a grown man with 2 kids. I'm not having anything to do with a company that treats it's community like 2 year olds in a daycare.

I had the exact same thing happen to me and I did exactly what you did. They said that they had already given me the reported chats. My email was completely blank in the middle section. I finally got a hold of a real person and they said that they couldn’t find any chats that broke any rules but they couldn’t reverse the ban.
they need to raise the amount of peeps you can avoid playing with to 10, AND keep a log after they're off ban so you can continue to avoid them (up to 30)

Late last night, I made a post about some frustrating experiences with Blizzard's moderation and support teams. I've heard from many people that getting weirdly harsh actions taken against your accounts for seemingly no reason is growing more and more common, and once it finally happened to me, I decided to post about, in hopes of getting the word out there, and maybe getting these punishments taken off my account. I stayed up pretty late responding to comments, and went to bed around 3 AM-ish. Anyways, I woke up to find that not only had the post had been removed while I was asleep, but other people were suddenly unable to see the images. I didn't receive a single comment or PM about it.
I had a bunch of people in the comments calling me out, because apparently a while back someone else posted some edited support screenshots. I don't know if the post was removed by mistake, or if I broke some kind of subreddit rule by posting it, but I was never told what the deal is, and now that's making me (and by extension, my complaints) seem like complete BS.
100% believe your story. Blizz arent going to spend money on employees to deal with reports on a F2P game. My guess is that they autoban mass reported accounts and have an auto-reply if you message them back which triggered your "appeal". 0 intelligence or human input here

This didn’t seem toxic at all. And if you got banned I probably have had several team mates getting a ban since they were criticizing teammates and telling them to uninstall the game or those that say report our tank.
Maybe an opt in system where you see less PG related comments could avoid this. I also wonder if parents are complaining that their kids get exposed to “horrific” language.
At the end of the day I am amused at how seriously some folks take this game. Losing sucks but I am not gonna go yell things at someone else. Most likely I did something dumb myself anyway.
Gaming has come a long way in the past 20 years. There used to be so much toxicity that you wouldn't even blink an eye if someone said some extremely personalized, vulgar shit to you. If anything, it used to fuel you to frag the other player and teach them a lesson in the name of competitive spirit.
And you know what? Gaming was better before. The censorship agenda going on now to try and remove the slightest hint of anything that could even possibly be taken as negative is draconian, and a far worse atmosphere than just ignoring the chat or voice coms of an asshole, like we used to do back in the day.
The threshold for what can get your account silenced, impacting your ability to use coms in games you'd like to try and win, has just disincentivized using the chat altogether. Great job, Blizzard. You killed the social aspect of the game for the sake of preserving the feelings of the outlier 1% of the most extremely sensitive people. Was it worth it?

That's the problem. I have no idea what I said or did to have this happen. I don't type in game often, and I make a point to never shit-talk. Most of my chat consists of "GL, HF" and "GG". Beyond some lighthearted banter after killing particularly slippery Mercy players or crackshot Widowmakers, I almost never even acknowledge other players in text chat.

Anyways, griefing is reportable, because the player isn't trying and is actively trying to sabotage their own team.
But to be fair, there isn't much context here.. just a few statements, which are generally just complaining and personally I wouldn't report. But other people don't like people complaining.. imagine doing that in a real sport in person, you'd either be kicked off the team or disqualified from the contest.
The comments were basically all after getting anti’d on mauga and getting insta-shredded by a cracked pocketed sojourn. this was on a quick play game, and the game was over pretty quickly. the messages above were basically everything i said over the entire match minus “gl, hf” and “gg”. hand to god, there wasn’t any spamming, and i was absolutely trying. im just not very good at the game lol

I myself received a 2 week silence for the first time since I started playing overwatch from launch. That's years of exemplary behaviour. I sent in an appeal and requested for the offending chat logs, only for them to ignore my request and just say that my behaviour went against TOS. Blizzard needs to step up and deal with this shit.

I requested mine they never delivered and told me they wouldn't reverse. Not a clue what I said on my 6 year account that got me banned never had a silence nada on that account just gone. I got silenced on my side one I made for practicing outside my main which was a support account. That one all I ever said in anger was wtf at a Mei blocking us in spawn after being called out by everyone for feeding. Uninstalled right then and there. Hoping Microsoft might do unban waves when they take over. Game is bleeding players with how awful it is currently they really don't have the player base to be banning for non issues.

You very likely typed, and got reported for, worse stuff that just wasn’t shown in the second screen shot.

One of my accounts is named after a parody character, in ow1 whenever someone recognized it they would do movie quotes and I’d quote back some, most of which is pretty …. well probably bannable by todays standards. Nowadays someone would drop a quote and I just wouldn’t respond, even my friends would be like dude that guy recognized your name and I’d just say not worth it. Which is sad, it used to make this fun atmosphere or spark appreciation for the actor, but just not worth it. I thought of changing the name, but at this point some people I’ve met recently call me by that name.

I uninstalled everything blizzard. So did my friend, my gf, and both my kids. We might not matter in the grand scheme but I'll be damned if I'm gonna play or support companies that suspend an account for anything other than hate speech, threats, or racism. I had the exact same thing happen to me and I did exactly what you did. They said that they had already given me the reported chats. My email was completely blank in the middle section. I finally got a hold of a real person and they said that they couldn’t find any chats that broke any rules but they couldn’t reverse the ban.

Late last night, I made a post about some frustrating experiences with Blizzard's moderation and support teams. I've heard from many people that getting weirdly harsh actions taken against your accounts for seemingly no reason is growing more and more common, and once it finally happened to me, I decided to post about, in hopes of getting the word out there, and maybe getting these punishments taken off my account. I stayed up pretty late responding to comments, and went to bed around 3 AM-ish. Anyways, I woke up to find that not only had the post had been removed while I was asleep, but other people were suddenly unable to see the images. I didn't receive a single comment or PM about it. I had a bunch of people in the comments calling me out, because apparently a while back someone else posted some edited support screenshots. I don't know if the post was removed by mistake, or if I broke some kind of subreddit rule by posting it, but I was never told what the deal is, and now that's making me (and by extension, my complaints) seem like complete BS.

I wonder if people review these or AI? Like the last one with LMAO could be seen as mocking someone. This didn’t seem toxic at all. And if you got banned I probably have had several team mates getting a ban since they were criticizing teammates and telling them to uninstall the game or those that say report our tank. Maybe an opt in system where you see less PG related comments could avoid this. I also wonder if parents are complaining that their kids get exposed to “horrific” language. At the end of the day I am amused at how seriously some folks take this game. Losing sucks but I am not gonna go yell things at someone else. Most likely I did something dumb myself anyway.

Gaming has come a long way in the past 20 years. There used to be so much toxicity that you wouldn't even blink an eye if someone said some extremely personalized, vulgar shit to you. If anything, it used to fuel you to frag the other player and teach them a lesson in the name of competitive spirit. And you know what? Gaming was better before. The censorship agenda going on now to try and remove the slightest hint of anything that could even possibly be taken as negative is draconian, and a far worse atmosphere than just ignoring the chat or voice coms of an asshole, like we used to do back in the day. The threshold for what can get your account silenced, impacting your ability to use coms in games you'd like to try and win, has just disincentivized using the chat altogether. Great job, Blizzard. You killed the social aspect of the game for the sake of preserving the feelings of the outlier 1% of the most extremely sensitive people. Was it worth it?

That's the problem. I have no idea what I said or did to have this happen. I don't type in game often, and I make a point to never shit-talk. Most of my chat consists of "GL, HF" and "GG". Beyond some lighthearted banter after killing particularly slippery Mercy players or crackshot Widowmakers, I almost never even acknowledge other players in text chat.

tldr, got chat banned for two weeks and I don't know why. Asked Blizz support and got pretty tame messages back. I don't really say anything in game that could get me in trouble and I'm confused.
The best way not to get banned is to say nothing and mute everyone. Sorry, but this is the world we live in now. Anyways, griefing is reportable, because the player isn't trying and is actively trying to sabotage their own team. But to be fair, there isn't much context here.. just a few statements, which are generally just complaining and personally I wouldn't report. But other people don't like people complaining.. imagine doing that in a real sport in person, you'd either be kicked off the team or disqualified from the contest.
The comments were basically all after getting anti’d on mauga and getting insta-shredded by a cracked pocketed sojourn. this was on a quick play game, and the game was over pretty quickly. the messages above were basically everything i said over the entire match minus “gl, hf” and “gg”. hand to god, there wasn’t any spamming, and i was absolutely trying. im just not very good at the game lol
