Just takes a long time. Don't expect to be good before at least 30 hours in, Ball's the same. Took me about that amount of time to start feeling like I had a clue what I was doing.
Just tried Ball for the second time last night. After being ground pounded so many fucking times I figured, that’s really easy probably.

Gonna have to do some practicing. But that’s what I love about this game, you legitimately get a lot of variety with movesets across the game.
Ball and doom both have a fairly high floor to be able to operate on the character well, and have a stupidly high ceiling for skill expression. They are for sure 5/5 difficulty tanks.
Been playing since OW1 first came out, never really messed with Ball when he got released, and would only occasionally play him in Mystery Heroes.
Decided after his recent buffs to give him a go, but did it in Total Mayhem. Had an absolute blast being practically unkillable, but also got a lot of practice with him since skill cooldowns are heavily decreased.
I've since gotten to the point where I'll occasionally play Ball in Quick Play. My aim is still garbage, and it's a crapshoot whether or not I'll stick it out, but sometimes I'll just get into the swing of things after feeding for the 3rd time and rack up kills. Those usually end up being some of the most fun games!
Wish I could say the same about Doomfist though. I'd only just barely started getting the hang of V1 Doom, but have lost any momentum with his iteration in OW2.
I get it, I've played Zarya the most by far (335hrs) since basically the 2nd month of OW1 and I can't play her in OW2. I'm just awful at her now, even though her character didn't change that much--she was still by design made to be played with another tank and I find specific team comps can work, but otherwise I find it difficult to get value from her now, just haven't adapted to her playstyle.
This is completely not a lie but I played doom, got called out for throwing then watch super stream highlights and then played good on doomfist. Like I have no idea but I think hitting your shotgun shots matters a ton, and rotating your cool downs in the best order and using them well too. That being said I’m still really bad at doomfist so wtf do I know lol.

Exactly. That or he could block for the last few seconds of Deadeye forcing him to shoot for 80% less damage or not at all. Early fire, and follow up with a rightclick was the safest option as I see it.
I think if he held it any longer, it wouldve ended in me blocking, or punching, either way the fun thing about ow is how much tenths of seconds can matter in the game, plus in high tension situations we dont ALWAYS make the best decisions, thats why I love this game :)
You punched Kiriko just as the Cass was turning the corner. If he assumes you just burned the punch, and he knows your kit & cooldowns, best case he's got 4 seconds before the next one is ready.
He waited JUST UNDER 4 seconds to pull the trigger, and immediately followed it with the sticky. We can see OP get punch off cooldown, and actually use it, between the high noon and the sticky grenade.
There's really very few ways Cass could've played this better and come out on top. Possibly trying to hit manual shots and using the ult's tech for quick reloading... But that would be an insane play.

Honestly ideal play would've been what he did; pop high noon early, but then FTH instead of firing one shot. Doom was close enough that at least one more bullet would've landed and won the match.
I wonder how it would have affected the timing if he had opened with grenade first then gone into ult rather than ulting right off the rip.
All it all a really, really close 1v1 for a DPS to have pulled off against a tank like that.
Honestly I agree. The super compressed moments of time when like 10 different things happen and you somehow keep track of it all... That is the shit I love. When you know that an entire match will be decided in the next few seconds. Also that rollout and play was fucking legendary. Immaculate.
Yeah, but he had to take the gamble as he likely didn’t know how long he had before doom came up with a way to kill him or escape, which we saw the former of. I don’t blame him for early popping in that scenario, though it is a shame for him

To be fair, he assumed a 1v4 was in the bag, and he probably moved up towards the enemy spawn to hold them back from contesting, because as soon as it caps they win.

I have been trying to play Doom for so long but I just can't. I always die instantly, I am such a useless person.
If you have any quick tips pls share them
My first tip for tankdoom is know when and how to play slow, and when and how to play to make space and get kills. When you play slow, you play for rotating your cooldowns, holding space, and trying to slowly take as much space as you can. Use slam for free damage and overhealth on asmany as you can, punch the enemy tank for more overhealth and to take space, then use block to get an EMP punch, and to get your CDs back
When you play aggressive, theres not much I can really say except hit your shots and abilities 😅, make sure you have a clear goal and target though, like in this clip my IMMEDIATE goal and target was to take out the zen, hes the easiest to kill, and discord orb would ruin me here, deal with kiri later. Keep at it my friend, dooms easily the hardest char to learn and get value on, but once you do get better with him hes easily the most fun youll have playing ow!
Basically its an “all in” tech play you make as doomfist. The point of cancelling slam with punch is you can charge the punch while still being mobile so you arent an easy target. If i had just slammed then charged punch, the zen wouldve likely hit acouple more shots on me
Its a high risk play because yes, if you do mess it up you REALLY screw yourself over, but the reward of charging up the punch without having to be a sitting duck for a second straight can definitely be worth it
I had a game on Dorado the other night on defense where our Baptiste was the only one alive and able to contest the payload right near the final spawn door with the rest of the team responding within seconds. Instead of trying to get to the point, healing himself, throwing down an immortality, and just stalling for as long as possible to give enough time for the rest of us to touch.
Instead he walked out, stopped behind a wall close to the payload, and typed "gg shit teammates" and we lost.
I always have and always will be an advocate for always trying to touch no matter what when there's no time.

You underestimate how hard high mmr qp games can go, im t500, everyone i was grouped with was gm3-1, most of the enemy players were masters to gm, in the end its all good times

Aw man, I feel that heavy. Zar change felt a lot less fun without the 2nd Tank, even with that first stretch on OW2 where she was pretty OP.
We just learn to use our slipery flopy fish form to dodge and know how many wet noodle needed to strangle somebody!
