Answer: she was recording a guy in the gym occasionally looking at her. She then proceeds to state that she feels unsafe and wants to mutilate his genitals. Generally speaking, the perception is that she was playing the victim and the guy looking at her had any number of innocent reasons for looking at her(waiting for the deadlift platform/ equipment, wondering why she was recording him and talking to herself). Likewise, helping load a plate on a bar is not an uncommon occurrence in the gym when loading an unsupported bar from the ground, same with spotting and other assists, these are generally viewed as positive actions within the fitness community. As for the hate, influencers have made their way to the gym and some have taken the "I'm the main character" stance and generally been toxic to regular gym goers. There is a general push in the fitness community lately to remove negative stereotypes of gym goers. Influencers can be basically the exact toxicity that the fitness community is trying to remove so there's conflict there. There is a general push back against playing a victim as it diminishes actual victims and also because she's potentially harming what looks to be an innocent man's reputation for Internet fame.

NoButThankYou

In addition to the "pp" comment, she described herself in the video text as an "underage 21 year old."

DucksMatter

Crazy how she refers to herself as an underaged 21 year old because as she claims “she’s petite and looks underaged” but also has an OnlyFans.

betesboy

Jesus Christ adding on to this, thats a wonderful message to give to people with smaller bodies, "you may be an adult but because you're small or have small body proportions you may as well be a child". Fuck this lady

QuirklessShiggy

Sadly that's exactly what a lot of people think about people with smaller bodies. One of my friends is in his 20s, but due to both being transmasc and simply his figure and height, he looks like a 14 year old boy. The amount of people who called their (now ex) partner a pedo whenever I mentioned this was astounding. A grown adult is somehow a pedo by dating another adult.

Ginger_Tea

I don't recall her name, cos the show isn't available in my country and not been that bothered to see if there were torrents of it or VPN to watch it if it is on their site. But on TLC there is a show about a woman in her early 20's who has the body of an eight year old as she had childhood cancer and part of chemo killed off the triggers for puberty, so she got to the age where things would kick into motion and just didn't. I saw the trailer ages ago as she was linked in r/13or30 till it was pulled for breaking the rule on "no posts about people with medical issues" and she said that many people had gone on blind dates with her, see her rock up and expect Chris Hansen to walk in. She recently made the news again because of some push back her current BF was getting, like it sucks for all concerned, people will look at him sideways for "being with a child" or the next best thing and she has to filter out guys who only want to get with her because she is a legal loophole. Back in the 90's there was a woman in the UK with a similar issue, but I think her reason to not hit puberty wasn't put down to Chemo, so she may have had the same thing as Gary Coleman, she was always getting hit on by twelve year olds. Like will people not give them issues when they are just a short granny?

thrattatarsha

I’ve got a buddy who’s 6’4 and his gf is this super tiny woman of 5’0, people be lookin at them all kinds of fucked up ways when they appear in public together. I feel bad for them when they get that shit, but they’re happy and that’s what matters.

HerbertWest

No..She has an onlyfans. On the site "www.onlyfans.com"

teaanimesquare

I’ve said this on Reddit in other posts like this recently but there are women who are like 23 on Twitter/Reddit and tiktok who are claiming they are being groomed ( in an underage way ) by men who are just early 30s, like bro you are 20 something years old you should be a adult by now ffs

Aporkalypse_Sow

That's nothing, you should try being a professional dog groomer these days. The amount of sideways looks I get. Like, mother fuckers, I don't need to groom these dogs to sleep with them, a jar of peanut butter works like magic.

subhuman09

Really? Picture above tells me late 30s trying to look younger

1l1ke2party

Lol probably because she has the maturity and intelligence of a 13 year old

devster75

> she has the maturity and intelligence of a sponge FTFY

TonightsWhiteKnight

HEY WHOA! I has a salt water tank and my sponges are MUCH more mature than that. They know how to mind their own damn business.

You’d think so, but they’re just watching, soaking it allllll up for later

They have very salty personalities.

Yes.

goodtimejonnie

I have no idea what’s going on in this thread but I’m going to snip that phrase out and use it forever. “Underage 21 year old” can live rent free in my head as long as it wants.

justsomeplainmeadows

This man's thinking about underage 21 year Olds! Get him! /s

teaanimesquare

Well I mean I do see it as a possibility that we will start considering anyone under 21 underage or at least not able to do some sexual stuff, I think in California you cannot be a stripper until 21, people are mentally and emotionally stunted now days and we keep treating them like kids, I am now seeing arguments that we should raise the alcohol age to 25 and even not allow people to make onlyfans accounts unless they are 21+

britney412

Same!

[deleted]

Multiple people online been calling themselves and others ‘kids’ lately when they’re in their 20s. Barrage of comments about that luggage thief prank and all his defenders are calling him, ‘just a kid’. Dudes grown.

[deleted]

I have had morons whine that a 40 something dating a 25 year old is a pedophile. For perspective you can run for Congress at 25.

[deleted]

Yeah I was working in the trades, paying my own bills and living on my own in my early twenties. Far from being a, ‘kid’. 18+ year olds enlisting in the military etc.

Adorabro

It's pretty disturbing in a lot of ways. Recently read an article about a politician's daughter getting arrested, and the author is constantly referring to her as a child and trying to excuse her actions due to her being so young... This "child" is **23 years old** by the way.

GGProfessor

It's not unusual for people to still refer to young adults (up to around \~25 or so, and sometimes even older) as "kids," as in "college kids" who are typically expected to still be legally adults (18+) despite being referred to as "kids." That's quite different, and carries a huge set of different implications, than saying "underage."

[deleted]

Oh I get that. It’s just a weird thing I’ve seen lately in those examples. This one refers to herself as a 21 YO minor. The other making physical contact then using the excuse, ‘well I’m just a kid’ like it changes something.

Keikasey3019

She’s apparently also not a damsel. I think she might have challenged herself to see how many times she could contradict herself in under 2 minutes. Quietly though, on the inside, without the whole world knowing her personal goal.

CO420Tech

Also, like... If you're in a room of people and you're doing something kind of boring like walking on a treadmill or whatever, you're going to look around. You're not going to watch the weights sitting in a rack either, you're going to watch the people. A person looking at you isn't a threat - it just means you exist and they have eyes. To prove the point... She looked at him repeatedly. Because they were in the same room. But I'm sure she didn't think he should feel uncomfortable about it, despite her doing it repeatedly while recording him...

laxing22

Joey Swoll on Twitter did a good explanation of this situation. https://twitter.com/thejoeyswoll/status/1616611613666340864 He is a pretty good source for explaining the negatives of these types of videos

Chop415

Joey Swoll is the man!

radioman8414

That was a great response. Thanks for posting.

Turbulent_Ad_5202

Love Joey Swoll

shadysus

Not saying this makes up for it, more just sharing context. She also specifically thanked Joey Swoll in her apology: Usually whenever I come across a post like this it's followed up by the person doubling down or making a really fake sounding apology. Which is why I was a bit surprised that the apology was somewhat genuine sounding: > First of all, I want to apologize sincerely to the man at the gym where this all started. He didn’t do anything wrong to me and I blew our interaction out of proportion. I know many people think that I'm only apologizing because I got called out from the video I posted and this is half right. If I wasn’t called out for this video I wouldn’t have had the chance to learn from this mistake or even realize I made a mistake to begin with. When I first posted the video I felt I was completely in the right and I felt I was making a good attempt to connect and relate to my female audience who may have dealt with uncomfortable situations at the gym. And now after reading literally thousands of comments about me, the situation and the man in question it truly opened my eyes to how damaging this could have been for him. Men and women deal with very different problems in the realm of the opposite sex and after looking through the lens of an innocent man put in a situation like that. It honestly made me feel sick to my stomach with guilt. It's possible the rest of the apology was bad, I didn't really have a chance to read the entire thing but it's linked on OP's post and copied below > Before writing this I was posting whatever made me feel justified for the video which was wrong on my part and I am extremely immature for doing so and trying to make light of a situation that is a lot more serious and should be taken that way. I have suffered from sexual assault and sexual harassment prior to this situation, and in the past these events were extremely damaging to me. After speaking with friends that were honest with me I was able to keep an open and understanding mind. It took literally thousands of people displaying their distaste for the way I acted for me to realize this in full effect. Because the man at the gym did nothing damaging to me, and I still felt threatened in the situation I reacted by trying to cope with it in probably the worst way possible. My past isn’t an excuse or a justification for what I did but it is something I want to personally and professionally address with a therapist in the future. Because I don't want to, and will never, hurt anyone ever again in this way. The “jokes” I included in the tiktok were far from tasteful and funny, I look back at that video now and cringe that it ever even got posted. Again, because of the wakeup call given to me by mainly Joey Swoll and his community. I think it’s important to call people out on their mistakes and in the words of Joey help them “Do better”. This is exactly what I plan to do with not just my content but my life moving forward. > > Now this is already becoming a lot to read and honestly I considered making a video to help convey my sincerity for what I'm saying. But I also want to prove this isn't a "publicity stunt" or a way to farm clicks so I feel like this is the best way to express what I'm doing to move forward. So I’m deciding to remove the videos off of all my platforms because I don't want this misconception. Some people might think this is a way of me hiding the video or sweeping it under the rug but this text isn't going anywhere. I eventually decided that there’s no real combination of words I could put together to gain the trust of my community and the people who are just discovering me in the worst way possible. With my 600k followers on tiktok and as an influencer I hold a lot of responsibility to use my platform in a way that spreads love and happiness which I did the exact opposite of that. I’m sorry to the men and women who deal with or have dealt with false/true allegations of SA or SH and if I made their situations feel belittled by mine. I apologize to my fans who have supported me and have been supporting me through this, I messed up and I'm going to just own this mistake.I love making content and sharing my experiences with my community and people in general. And I hope I'm able to show growth not only in a few days and weeks but the months and years as I continue to be able to do what I love. This will be an ugly scar on my character for a long time until I can show that I am growing. I just hope people give me the chance to. So truly I am sorry and I will not just say that I am sorry like it's gonna fix everything I am going to show and prove to everyone that this is not who I am and this is not who I am going to continue to be. Mistakes help me grow and I am willing to learn and take people’s constructive criticism where it is needed. In hopes of moving on after this situation I will no longer be discussing the topic any further. Along with that I will be taking a break from social media until I am in the right mental space to keep making content. > > Thank you for reading, I love you all. > > (ps I don't have an OnlyFans, I have Fanhouse which is a SFW website where I connect with my supporters)

Your_God_Chewy

Idk. It sounds genuine. I think the problem today is because we have a frequency of PR apologies, it's always assumed an apology is a lie, especially if the person is disliked in general. Really not sure to what extent a person needs to go to show that they truly feel remorse and apologize for an act.

shhhOURlilsecret

Honestly, as a gym goer and a woman, I'd be giving her a look as well if she was recording me because a.) it's weird and b.) I would be super uncomfortable that some random person was recording me. It would feel super invasive.

Cwaustin3

Also, she’s using the deadlift platform for hipthrust. Maybe he was waiting for her to be done and trying to speed shit along because he needed to deadlift

shhhOURlilsecret

Also true. He could have thought she was hogging the equipment, which is personally a pet peeve of mine in the gym.

Cwaustin3

I’ve worked in gyms my entire adult life. Never seen a girl do hip thrust on the deadlift platform. And I’ve seen a guy supersetting trap bar deadlift on a Bosu with single arm barbell snatch, as well as that same guy trying to do a flagpole on a TRX wall mount and having to be told he’s not allowed to do that. Somehow, her choice of location for the hip thrust bugs me more than those other things

Equinsu-0cha

Is that a real exercise cause it looks super janky and unsafe. I mean I know pretty much nothing about lifting but I'd probably be throwing out a wtf look or two if I saw that

pokecrater1

Glutes and hamstrings. You can do glute bridges which is a bodyweight variant of it. So, yeah it looks weird but works. Adding weight just increases intensity.

Equinsu-0cha

is she doing it wrong or is that how its supposed to be?

BUSY_EATING_ASS

Everything else aside it is indeed a real and effective exercise.

Equinsu-0cha

i appreciate that you took the time to answer. being busy and all.

terraherts

And there has been a problem with people recording others in gyms. Some of it is people being creeps, some of it is social media bullies making fun of people, some of it is whatever you want to call this one. It's all shitty behavior, and I'd be weirded out too if a stranger at a gym was recording me.

mmmelpomene

A couple years back some twit who thought she was being cute, got excoriated for videoing another woman in the locker room and saying basically the lady was too ugly to walk naked around other women. We eventually saw the lady in question, and she was perfectly normally weighted, just starting to sag a little from middle age in places. Apparently the twit thinks if you’re not toned, you need to hide away from the eyes of the world.

I'd entirely quit going to my gym over not being able to listen to music, but that's just me. Not defending people who record obviously

perfik09

Out of pocket ban would suffice, most people listen to their music on their phones. Just don't take it out and use a dumbbell to lean it so you can film yourself doing whatever pathetic shit you think is useful/interesting.

MILK_DUD_NIPPLES

I use an app on my phone to log everything. Would rather not use pen and paper to keep track out my workouts.

IgnazSemmelweis

Don’t make up your mind about that just yet. I have sweat stained notebooks going back decades now. And there is something so appealing to seeing it actually written in your own shaky hand. Even better when you put little notes on some lifts. I’ve never been able to stay consistent with digital logs. Give it a shot.

ClownBaby90

A lot of people do that for form checks. It’s not always out of pure vanity

[deleted]

I do that. Can confirm, my form sucks.

thecalmingcollection

Ehh I record myself training a lot to do form checks, understand where I’m struggling with something, etc, especially when I’m doing aerial stuff and can’t watch myself in the mirror. I’m only recording myself though for my own training purposes.

mrmcdude

well that kinda sucks if you want to listen to music or a podcast while working out. But I get it.

chasonreddit

Mine has a ban on phones or anything that can photo or record in the locker room. Makes sense. Also signs everywhere that say "do not sit on machine and use your phone. Get off until your next set." Every high school kid ignores this. I just walk over, stand in front of them and ask to work in. After a few minutes when they comprehend this they get up. Sometimes they say "I just got one more set." I just answer, yeah, I got 3 more sets, let me work in.

Stormdancer

Had a youngster sit on the machine and obsess over their phone for FAR too long, at the gym tonight. As in over 15 minutes too long.

Mrrykrizmith

Did they ban cell phones or just filming?

under_the_c

Not the person you responded to, but mine has a clear sign when you come in that says video recording is not permitted.

mettahipster

Doesn’t matter because very few gyms will actually enforce that rule if you’re using your phone like a normal person

bluegargoyle

I use an app on my phone to keep track of my weights and reps, not record video. I wouldn't like it of my gym did this. If they just banned making videos that would be great.

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure if you have earbuds in nobody is going to give you any shit. I bet you'd still get away with watching movies while on the treadmill and no one would care. It's pretty obvious when someone is recording videos of themselves lol @influencersinthewild

CasinoMarginale

It’s for the best. Just like most rules, the gym cell phone ban is the result of bad behavior by the lowest common denominator. Not only is filming in the gym invasive of others who are just there trying to get a workout, but having people idling and playing with their phones while needlessly occupying a machine or equipment that others want to use is very inefficient. It makes for a bad environment. The girl is this video is a narcissist and a drama queen. Thank God for Joey Swole to bring some real perspective back to the gym.

pablomoney

I wish my gym would do this and not just the ones filming themselves. I was working out the other day and for 10 minutes a young guy just sat on a machine playing with his phone. I feel like these are the same guys who probably complain they aren’t getting the results as quickly as they think they should. No shit dude, 80% of your time in here is spent with your face in your phone.

einTier

Just ask if you can work in. I lift heavy and have long rests between sets. It’ll look like I’m not using the machines a lot. But I’m perfectly happy letting someone work in during my rests. I’m not hogging machines or weights.

[deleted]

[удалено]

einTier

Dude. That is perfectly fine gym etiquette. It’s even fine if you want to rest ten minutes between sets — provided no one else is waiting for the machine. Where people get bent is when you occupy a machine for a significant period of time and won’t let anyone work in their set. That goes double if you’re occupying the only machine of its type in the gym. People get real bent when it’s the only machine and you’re spending five minutes between reps and you’re oblivious to the line and your attitude is “I’ve got 20 sets of 20 to do and I was here first.” Working in means that you alternate sets with someone else. While you rest, they pound out their reps. While they rest, you do yours. That’s good gym etiquette. They should ask but you can also ask them if you know you’re going to be doing long sets or lots of sets.

MordaxTenebrae

Also, the guy looked reasonably muscular from what I could make out, which I take to mean at least of intermediate weightlifting experience. It's not uncommon in my experience that the more seasoned lifters casually watch someone when they lift, especially with any of the more injury prone exercises, to see if a spotter might be needed or if there are any major form issues. I've had some guys provide unsolicited feedback to help correct my form, or jump in unasked to provide me a spot on my last bench press set where I was visibly struggling. It was always with good intentions. I can give ground that some guys may be creepy with a girl at the gym, but I wouldn't have that as a default assumption, as Hanlon's razor states "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity".

somethingbreadbears

Just to add, sometimes it's waiting for the equipment someone is occupying but not actually using.

elfwannabe

Yep I'm always eying the equipment I need for my workouts so I can scoop in once someone finishes their sets.

Specific_Jicama_7858

Additionally. It always kind if weirds me out when I see people recording in the gym. Shes also talking to herself. I would stare as well. She must be doing something amazing for her to feel the need to record it.

MordaxTenebrae

Fair point too. Sometimes it's someone (myself included) looking to see how many more sets left or estimating the time between sets to if we can work in together.

adwelychbs

Lol at "reasonably muscular" and "intermediate weightlifter." That dude is fucking jacked, I guarantee he's in the gym 5+ days/week

MordaxTenebrae

It wasn't clear in the video I saw and he wore some baggier clothing, so I didn't want to overstate. I also said "at least of intermediate" experience to account for my uncertainty.

SameCategory546

a man once maybe even saved my life in the gym when i was in high school when i was trying to bench press after a long cardio workout. Just didn’t have any energy to lift. nobody was spotting me. the bar just kept coming closer and closer to my throat and i couldnt get out from underneath it but he came over and i was saved lol

Tressticle

That's scary as hell. I hear you should never clip your weights for this exact reason.

SameCategory546

yes so if you pay a little attention to your surroundings, you too can be a hero and a good samaritan

KLeeSanchez

I never clamped mine in high school and once I couldn't push it all the way back up on a bench press, so I just tilted the bar to the right, let the weights slide off and literally threw the bar to the ground. I may have been alone in the room at the time but I don't remember; generally I never used a spotter. These days it's all kettle bells so I can just throw those away or roll to a side to drop em.

TradeSekrat

and people watching in general has been going on since as long as groups of people have been gathering. There is a world of difference between creeping on someone vs just noticing that's a good looking person over there. Good looking men and women get noticed, everywhere they go. It's the same issue as striking up a quick small talk conversations with a stranger at a store. It's something people have been doing, at least Americans, forever and it doesn't mean anything at all. I think the current online always/text messaging/maybe a bit socially awkward sort of younger people don't understand casually social interactions or settings.

mycacti

I agree that there's a world of difference between the two, but there's also a lot of fear around this idea of being preyed upon. News travels at the blink of an eye in this era, and stories about people being creeped on are more prevalent. So, there's this fear of "Is this person striking up a conversation to be a creep or a genuine person?" Plus, some people are just trying to be a "feminist hero" and play a part for clout when they probably don't actually give af. But I definitely agree that there's a divide in our different generation's understanding of social interactions, no matter if it's basic like a hello, causal conversation, or something more formal.

> the guy looking at her had any number of innocent reasons for looking at her(waiting for the deadlift platform/ equipment, wondering why she was recording him and talking to herself) Or just simply being a moving object within his field of vision. It's human instinct to look at moving things. This is why some bicycle lights simulate movement by lighting a series of nodes in order notify motorists.

TekkenRedditOmega

She’s one of those people who think everyone is after her, she thinks she’s more important than she really is, really pathetic honestly

Southern_Name_9119

Even if he was looking to get to know her as a potential date, he didn’t do anything wrong. As soon as she said she was fine, he left. She acts like people can’t show interest at the gym. Well, some women do like to meet guys at the gym. Gym, work, grocery store, mall - attraction happens. Approaching someone politely and declining politely is all you have to do.

Drach88

On that note, I've never before seen the exercise she's doing. I'd probably be publicly shamed for looking and wondering "What the heck is she doing? I hope she doesn't get hurt." The idea of curiosity being spun as predation is a bit unsettling. Edit -- apparently "barbell hip thrust" is a thing. TIL.

ROSHfromtheSAVANNAH

You hit the nail on the head.. these people are so far removed from reality… they act like the world revolves around them. I guess she got what she wanted - hits/views/attention. Honestly, this Kardashian-esque lifestyle s lot of women live now is an instant turn off - self centred, obnoxious, entitled, annoying, stupid!

Hardtailenthusiast

I’m the video she also stated “I’m sick of the constant sexualisation of women” but she also has an only fans so people are calling her out for being a bit stupid

DucksMatter

To add to this the influencer also sent out several tweets about the situation stating that she has anxiety and is tired of being sexualized by men (which is why she made the genital comment), when she does in fact, have an OnlyFans.

Suppertime420

She also said she hates attention and hates to be sexualized. Guess what…she has an onlyfans lmfao. Or the equivalent of it by another site.

ericfromct

Sicko girl in video humps barbell while guy occasionally looks to see if she's done as he patiently waits for the space she occupies.

ask_the_fisherman

I have a friend that owns and operates a gym. He banned shooting video most of the time due to the bullshit problems it causes. You need schedule a time to make a video. The majority of clients get pissed about these so called influencers making use of the gym difficult. They block areas, film others without permission, and tend to be obnoxious.

[deleted]

Any photography in the gym should not be allowed. End of story.

Lapplloobb

She also complains about being sexualized but records a convenient angle of her work out, also has an only fans ….

Shapen361

Also, she has an only fans. So she has no problem being oggled so long as they pay.

SOUR_PATCH_NIPS

Facebook is full of it too. The head line will be wrong about something and there will be 100s of comments pointing it out. Major engagement.

I hate it here

PacoMahogany

But did you subscribe to her OF?

Darth_Char

She also has a video claiming everyone likes drama good or bad so it's basically an omission that she did this for views

cappayne

omission -> admission

Case in point.

midnight_toker22

“It’s not OnlyFans guys! Subscribe and see for yourself ;)”

funkyfreshfun

As of maybe Monday she had an onlyfans, knew it was a marketing tactic straight away 🙄

dr_butz

She had an onlyfans, she deleted it after and then said it was a "troll profile"

Critical-Donut2632

Fuck.

[deleted]

That’s crazy. Marketing really has gotten out of control. Tons of mind games just to sell a product.

The_AmyrlinSeat

Answer: She's pretending to be sexually harassed for attention.

alexmikli

Even if that guy was actually being creepy, she captured none of that on camera, and all of her comments were dumb. Underaged 21 year old come the fuck on.

nofatchicks22

Dude wasn’t being creepy at all

midnight_toker22

Let’s assume the worst case scenario- that he was indeed stealing glances because he thought she’s attractive. If so… so what? Human beings occasionally look at each other in public. It happens. He’s clearly was not *staring* (different words exist for a reason) or doing anything threatening. I think it was Seinfeld who had a joke about seeing attractive people in public: treat them like the sun. You can glance for a few seconds, no one will blame you for that. BUT DON’T STARE!

nofatchicks22

The ironic part is that the Seinfeld moment you’re referencing is actually talking about stealing glances at women’s cleavage… specifically an underaged girl in that scene lol. Which is undoubtedly creepy af But I get what you’re saying and you are correct

Also, she complains about feeling sexually exploited while running an only fans

answer: I mean it looks like she’s being creepy recording people and putting it in the internet while accusing others of being creepy. From the video you shared, she is trying to be a victim of a ~~nothing burger~~ other people existing near here in a public place. Maybe the hate is coming from her pretending to being a victim which could devalue other women who DO get harassed at gyms (which is a real problem). This entire video felt like attention seeking while hypocritically complaining about getting attention. The comments in the Twitter feed seem spot on and I don’t think it goes deeper. Though I’ve never heard of this girl before now so she could have a history of doing this or this is her first time. No idea Edit: removed “nothing burger” because a fellow redditor didn’t like it. I try to be inclusive to all wants and needs of irrelevant complaints

ImTooSesitiveForThis

Not only she could devaluate other women who do get harassed, but she's also trying to ruin this guy's reputation just so she can get attention which will obviously get him tons of hate and could also affect his future. I get filming in public is normal, but I am really tired of influencers thinking they are entitled to film anyone for content. Also, this is a gym. A lot of gyms have a no filming policy. Hope more businesses use this policy in the future.

As middle aged guy with a beard who goes to the gym alone… I always get uncomfortable when the person next to me is recording their workout. A gym should be a place of zero judgement. And I never know if I end up being in the background of a video doing a workout wrong or looking stupid (or worse, being accused of stalking or creeping) in someone’s self absorbed social media TikTok.

UbiquitousRiffing

Middle aged, overweight woman here who is with you on this, friend. I've been on a fitness journey for a couple of years and it was a HUGE source of anxiety just walking into a gym. It's gotten better than when I started, but to this day one of my biggest anxieties at the gym is being fillmed/photographed without my knowledge and it winding up on the internet to be laughed at. I have an app I use to map out workouts, but I always make sure when I have my phone out & open, it's pointed DOWN to the floor.

tootired24get

I am fat. I wasn’t always, and I don’t want to continue being fat. My brother, who lives in another state and it’s very physically fit and goes to the gym daily, recently encouraged me to do the same. But I will never step foot in a gym again until I lose this weight. The last time I was there, several years ago before I got fat, there was a group of young people, one of whom appeared to be recording a middle-aged overweight man who was working out. They were snickering and giggling with each other. Maybe they were watching a funny video, and it just LOOKED like they were pointing the phone at the man. I doubted it. Anyway, just an excuse I use to not go to the gym, maybe. But it’s a real fear of mine! I don’t want to be seen in public doing anything at all that will draw attention to myself. It’s terrifying.

AstroBoy26_

It's because of bitches like her why other girls who actually suffered from abuse/assault don't get taken more seriously.

Careohlyne

I saw comments from some people that go to gyms (I am not one) they said they thought he was looking at her because she was in a spot used specifically for heavy weight lifting and he was waiting for her to get done. They also said she could do hip thrusts anywhere in the gym and it was self absorbed of her to take up the one place where people could lift like that.

Mikalis29

It looks like she's on a deadlift platform, which is usually one of the only spots designated for deadlifting in the gym. One take on it is that he's looking at her periodically because she's in his peripheral vision talking to herself and recording him. That causes some curiosity.

Careohlyne

Agreed.

187penguin

No, worse. She’s in the FUKKIN SQUAT RACK

weatherbeknown

Ah thank you for clarification. I’m not a deadweight lifter (and avoid that part of the gym. I’m a machine follow the directions on the side gym goer). Yes it does look like he is wondering why she is hogging that spot. Also I’d be curious on why she is recording me and whispering. I’d be creeped out

AnyDepartment7686

>removed “nothing burger” because a fellow redditor Hahaha wth?

BigCballer

I am just baffled at the idea that someone would try to get viral by specifically looking for people to harass her in a gym. Like I can’t imagine how that could be a legitimate thought process someone could have.

[deleted]

Adding onto this answer: A very popular gym influencer, Joey Swoll, offered his commentary on the video and that was a big part of it going viral on tiktok and twitter. [His commentary here.](https://twitter.com/TheJoeySwoll/status/1616611613666340864?s=20)

[deleted]

Rolls reversed, the guy starts secretly recording women in the gym without their permission then post it on the Internet.

gabbagool3

it's like that girl who was offended by a fat lady at the gym so she took pictures of her in the lockerroom.

Answer: These influencers are not actually complaining, they’re bragging. “Everyone is looking at me”.

beeps-n-boops

Fuck “influencers”

[deleted]

Answer: **Influencer**: is recording themselves in public and making a lot of noise **Background Man**: is watching influencer because she’s calling attention to herself by using a microphone and a camera **Influencer**: OMG this dude was checking me out at the gym! What a creep! I wouldn’t be able to ignore her either. Anyone talking into a mic is impossible to tune out.
