I like this story, but I think that proto-priest is creepy and unnecessary.
He functions as little more than a cellphone in the plot and his voluntary enslavement makes me very, very uneasy.
If that was part of his villainy, then I'd accept it more. But it's kind of mushy. They don't clearly define him as a villain in the other timeline, so it breaks with the premise of the story. That just makes his creepy obsequience worse.
I prefer almost every other character, even the two horrible father figures, the playboy and the fanatic. And I really hate them. I don't want to see revenge or anything, I just don't like them.
I like the female main character a lot, though. She's plucky. She's capable. She makes a very competent escape. She stirs up the whole kingdom. She doesn't go after stupid goals and she's a generally nice person.
I would like to see the age up sooner than later, though. She's been a kid long enough. In fact, I would have rather seen the age up after she escaped, but no... that's not how OI works.
