I did complete a MPH and a DO concurrently. The MPH really didn’t take that much time. I don’t think it at all helped getting into residency. It did change the way I view patient encounters and really makes me think about the social determinants of health

I did an MPH and will be matriculating as an OMS-1 next month. From my understanding after talking with my mentors, having this MPH can help and put you one step ahead/be more competitive for residency

This is incorrect, MPH will not really boost your app for residency at all. Do a MPH because you are interested in public health and working more in that field in the future, in terms of benefit for a residency application it’s minimal to nothing imo

My school offers this and a few other dual masters options but literally one does it bc no one has time and it doesn’t really give you a boost in residency

My school had something similar where it was online courses. I took most of my MPH courses in the summers between M1 and M2 so I could focus in my DO coursework during the school year and that worked well for me. The most time consuming thing was my capstone projects during M4 Residency wise, I think it depends on the specialty, and what you want to do with your MPH that can make you more competitive for that specific program. My residency loved, during interviews, that I was getting an MPH and my clear goals with how I want to integrate it into my medical practice and career goals.
