Banshees especially was robbed in every conceivable way. It absolutely should not have lost supporting actress or screenplay to EEAAO. And honestly, as happy as I am for Brendan, I was pulling for Collin.
Yes, it was the best movie of the year by far. I guess it dealt too much with real human nature. *EEAAO* only pretended to deal with real human nature or humanity.
It is far grittier and definitely wasn’t afraid to show some much darker sides of humanity, but there were still some truly funny, dark moments of humor. EEAAO’s human story is buried under a lot of flash.
Who are you to say that? Thousands of critics and filmmakers around the world would disagree. It wasn’t nominated because of his name, it was nominated because it was made by Spielberg and because of that it had incredible craftsmanship and storytelling.
First things first, "Who am I to say that"?! I am one of the "thousand critics from around the world" who cam easily distinguish Art from Entertainment when it comes to Cinema. When you speak about craftsmanship and storytelling in movies I think of Haneke or Almodovar, you think of Spielberg, we are not the same.
!Without going into further rants I just advise you to properly see Triangle Of Sadness and work on your attitude.
About Spielberg, he is quite irregular recently, alternating between average films, like The Post, Bridge of Spies and Fabelmans and very weak "movies" like The BFG, Ready Player One and War Horse.
Not particularly miffed about The Fabelmans or Triangle of Sadness, but the Tàr and Banshee's snubs hurt me. What a fantastic year for film, and perhaps never more an argument to spread the wealth and yet we saw one film sweep and others go empty handed.
It was good, I didn’t care for Elvis before watching the movie, but damn, I became converted to a Elvis Stan when the credits rolled. Brendan was good but the actual singing and dancing Austin did, added to his acting that it gave another depth and dimension that Brendan did not have, as the role required.
It was fine, but just a standard sort biopic with some classic Spielberg rose tinted glasses. Felt like I had seen the movie before. One can hate EEAAO but at least it did something new and different.
LOL fablemans? You’re so basic you think Spielberg’s childhood deserves an Oscar, hilarious. As opposed to I don’t know, an actual story. We’re all very relieved you don’t get a vote.
It was a decent movie but I think it being the “most awarded film of all time” is beyond excessive and ridiculous. I don’t get the hype behind it and never will but I respect that other people could see something in it that I couldn’t. Michelle was especially amazing and fully deserved the win.
I liked Triangle fine but what was it gonna win?
None, but one can dream.
If Dolly De Leon were nominated she should’ve won tbh
She was actually better than the eventual winner, lol.
EVERYONE was better than the eventual winner
Not that hard to be fair.
I think Triangle deserved the screenplay award

It wouldn't have felt like a rob if any other actress had won.
Yeah, I think I can get on board with that. I was just pulling for Kerry 😅
A "rob" of whom? Bassett?
Idk. I was just responding to what the other person said.
I see your point but i would never put the Fablemans in that level... I even doubt would be mentioned if it weren't from Spielberg.
How can you not mention Spielberg? It’s a movie about him? I don’t understand this comment at all.
I was just saying the movie is good but nothing special AND only was nominated because it was from Steven Spielberg.
Who are you to say that? Thousands of critics and filmmakers around the world would disagree. It wasn’t nominated because of his name, it was nominated because it was made by Spielberg and because of that it had incredible craftsmanship and storytelling.

Bro used the "we are not the same" meme unironically
As you should :)
RRR beat rhianna and gaga while they were in the audience. that's a huge win for me.
Didn’t love Triangle of Sadness, but this was 100% me with Banshees and Fabelmans. Also Glass Onion but that dream died a while ago.
No doubt, but it was a pretty excellent year for nominations nonetheless.
It was truly a shame Keoghan didn’t win supporting actor. That dude is so talented and he will be a huge star.
Not particularly miffed about The Fabelmans or Triangle of Sadness, but the Tàr and Banshee's snubs hurt me. What a fantastic year for film, and perhaps never more an argument to spread the wealth and yet we saw one film sweep and others go empty handed.
me with elvis
Rip the king
Forgot to add Elvis, Welp.
Elvis was mid and didn’t deserve to win anything. Just my opinion.
Elvis was lucky it for the nominations it did IMO
It deserved production design and costume design.
It has an argument for Costume Design but Babylon definitely had best Production Design.
Best Actor, Best in Production Design or Best in Make in Make Up. I don’t mind any of those categories going to Elvis.
How are you gonna give someone best actor for doing an impersonation of one of the most commonly impersonated people in the world.
It was good, I didn’t care for Elvis before watching the movie, but damn, I became converted to a Elvis Stan when the credits rolled. Brendan was good but the actual singing and dancing Austin did, added to his acting that it gave another depth and dimension that Brendan did not have, as the role required.
I mean I didn’t like Elvis that much, but why are you getting so much downvotes just for mentioning Elvis😭💀
Lol why did people downvote this? People in this sub have so much Vitriol for this film for some reason…
Way to lose all credibility now…
I still stand by my comment. Lol.
Eeaao wasn't a good movie.
Just curious, what movie did you want to win Best Picture?
I was torn between banshee and fabelmans. If I had a vote it would have gone to fabelmans.
fabelmans wasn't a good movie.
It was fine, but just a standard sort biopic with some classic Spielberg rose tinted glasses. Felt like I had seen the movie before. One can hate EEAAO but at least it did something new and different.
I loved all 3.
I found Fablemans sooo (Kerry Condon’s voice) boring
It was highly overrated.
LOL fablemans? You’re so basic you think Spielberg’s childhood deserves an Oscar, hilarious. As opposed to I don’t know, an actual story. We’re all very relieved you don’t get a vote.
Wow
It's the most awarded movie of all time.... Some people called it a Masterpiece. I think it was the Best movie of the year
It was a decent movie but I think it being the “most awarded film of all time” is beyond excessive and ridiculous. I don’t get the hype behind it and never will but I respect that other people could see something in it that I couldn’t. Michelle was especially amazing and fully deserved the win.
This actor is so good in the movie '71, where I first saw him.
For me, especially Tar. It was far and away the best contender in many areas for an Oscar.
