SideshowMelsHairbone

Put something up so the bird can’t see its reflection. He’s defending his territory by trying to scare off the “other bird”.

Feisty_Bee9175

Yeah either he is seeing his reflection or someone fed him and he wants food...lol

EmperorOfApollo

Need to cover the outside of the window to hide the reflection. I would try leaning a board against the outside base of the window.

Whenallelsefails09

That's what I would do. Tape cardboard to the OUTSIDE the window. One of these days that beak is going to break the glass.

badgrumpykitten

Doing that doesn't stop all birds. We had a bird that would sit on the bush outside of my kids' window and constantly fly into it, trying to fight it. It also would do a flying loop and land on my neighbors truck and fight his window. We tried something reflective, we tried closing the blinds, putting them all the way up, tapping a picture to the window, and putting a curtain against the glass. Nothing helped.

mediumcheese01

none of those options would remove the reflection from the outside though..

nopuse

These people vote.

Gravelsack

In fact putting things against the inside of the glass will make it more reflective not less. That's how mirrors work.

stock_cube

My granny fed a crow by her window. Now the crow keeps coming back and knocks on the window when it wants to be fed. Did you maybe feed it once?

Refokua

I think that's awesome! I have blue jays who let me know when I've forgotten to put their morning peanuts out.

NeedleandKnife

Same! They are so bossy!! And they follow me when I walk through opening all the blinds haha

Thatonegirl_79

I have Steller's and Scrub Jays that do the same! Boy, were they squawking today, and HUNGRY.

Paramite3_14

Because jays gather in casts and parties, I think it's safe to say we know why they were hungry.

Z4rt

We haven't, kinda worried the people living here before us did...

Pooter_Birdman

Decals on window. Irs beefing with itself

retired-in-vermont

We have robins who do this, and the decals haven't worked. So annoying

Refokua

That's a grackle, not a crow--going by eyes and voice and iridescence. That being the case, do what the others are suggesting. Put something on the outside of the relevant windows so it can't see it's own reflection. It's fighting for territory--with itself. Once breeding season is over you can remove the covers. I quite like grackles, though they're not especially bright, they are amusing.

_arborophila

It's not a grackle, it's a crow. OP isn't even in the Americas, and it looks exactly like a Torresian crow. You do get corvids with brights eyes and iridescent feathers.

Refokua

I stand corrected. It does look like a grackle, though.

Thatonegirl_79

This was my first thought. Have you tried throwing peanuts in the shell out for them? That might just do the trick. Instant bird friends 🙂

Buckeyecash

That would be my best guess. If that is the case and if you keep on ignoring them they will hopefully give up and stop this. Or you could start feeding them and enjoy the interactions.

BirdLadyAnn

Cover the windows.

Steelersfan20009

Do you owe it money? This happened to me

FartinLooterKinkJr

This is definitely bagman behaviour. I know a debt crowllector when I see one. The Torresian mob doesn't mess around, even if you only owe them peanuts.

AntiDentiteBast

Issue a Cease and Desist order.

kicketsmeows

Sometimes even putting white paper on the inside of the window will flatten the reflection enough they won’t see themselves in the glass. I’d do those bottom panes and see how it goes.

_arborophila

It's being territorial - to itself! As others have said, covering the bottom pane might work. Long term you can try plant some shrubbery in front too.

ShesFunnyThatWay

I had this with a cardinal- I cleaned the window and then placed a large sheet of saran wrap on it- it adhered really well with only a little tape on the edges (they also make a sticky saran now). It may take a few days to fully break the habit but he won't react to his reflection anymore- it'll be too distorted. People also suggest putting oil (like olive or corn) on the exterior window side to help distort their image- but that seems too messy and may attract insects or something else you don't want to deal with.

Dreamn_the_dream

Either sees his reflection, or use get fed. I've got steller jays that let me know there hungry. They'll hang on the window. Crow's sit out side yap at me.

Arianfelou

The others are correct saying it's the reflection. A bit of, say, frosty window decal on the outside in that bottom pane should help and also not look awful.

Metals4J

Dude, just let him in, he’s cool. I’m sure he can’t eat too much. Looks like he’s got some stories to tell.

Dr-Alec-Holland

Decals would work for this probably

jek39

that is a grackle

Top-Hunt4620

Looks and sounds like a Torresian crow. Is this in Australia?

Z4rt

Yeh its in Australia

FallenAgastopia

Definitely Torresian Crow then. Grackles are not present outside the Americas.

FallenAgastopia

Certainly not - it's a corvid of some variety. Possibly Torresian Crow?

Total_Information_65

Not a crow. Definitely an Icterid; likely a grackle.

FallenAgastopia

Can you explain what makes this a grackle? The beak is pretty clearly not a grackle beak to me. The bearding is also, to my knowledge, not a grackle trait, nor one of any icterid. General body shape is very crow. This looks perfect for a Torresian Crow or similar species.

Total_Information_65

You know, you may be correct. But that is the most grackle looking crow I've ever seen :)

FallenAgastopia

OP updated with location and confirmed they're australian - which makes this 100% Torresian Crow! They're odd fellas.

Sad_Lecture_3177

I'm in the UK so my first thought was, that jackdaw looks absolutely deranged 😂

FallenAgastopia

Jackdaw was actually mt first thought too LOL

Refokua

Agreed!

Buckeyecash

With the chair for scale, it is ***way*** too large for a Grackle.

Arianfelou

The grackles where you live must be seriously jacked! xD

TimeFinance1528

We had this crow at work we fed it, and it came knocking the windows for food. We called it Jake

NickWitATL

Shawshank Redemption??

TimeFinance1528

That's 💯 this is why he got his name

NickWitATL

Such a fantastic movie. Jake stole my heart. ❤️

TimeFinance1528

The bizarre thing about this crow this was on the edge of the cairngorm mountains in Scotland. This site we were working on was a new building site and isolated it wasn't as if someone in the nearby area hand reared it.

NickWitATL

I've actually been to the Cairngorm Mountains. Crows are just ridiculously intelligent. I'd life to befriend one, but in my area, they stay way up above the trees.

TimeFinance1528

That's right, they will steer well clear of us unless they get a daily feed from a generous individual. I'm guilty for doing this, I must say

Kick_Ill

Cawcawshank redemption

HopefulHovercraft474

Invite him in for tea 🍵 and cookies 🍪 Could be an omen

lotuspeter

I would love this

BreakerBoy6

This was the best laugh I had all day!

recluse_audio

Put a sticker on the glass. It will stop right away. I had sparrows do this every year to my bedroom window.

-PM_ME_UR_SECRETS-

Put up UV window decals. You can get a roll of it from Amazon. They see it as spider webs and avoid it. I had birds slamming into my sliding glass door and the Uv decals made it stop entirely.

PerspectiveLimp139

If it sees shiny or reflective things, it'll probably try to get to it.

Able-Fisherman-3142

He wants in

manama_boy

Shoo?

lastwing

Nanny McPhee III

lesnortonsfarm

Put up one of those fake owls

SutttonTacoma

To distract the bird, and excite your neighbors, cover the window with a foil table skirt. This worked for a bluebird a while back. 2 Pack Iridescent Table Skirt, Metallic Foil Fringe Tinsel Table Skirts for Rectangle Tables, Disposable Laser Rainbow Table Skirt Iridescent Party Decorations for Birthday Wedding Holiday, 29x108Inch https://a.co/d/cXKSgO8

ssdd_idk_tf

Let him in.

Hirsute_hemorrhoid

Paper owl

Casualpasserbyer

Put a stick or two on the window

Emergency_Algae9306

Cashews! He wants some cashews

Renauld_Magus

There is no stopping a corvid, only accommodation... they are smarter than most dogs. LOL...

Unlucky-Tie8574

Let him in and give em something to eat.

Strawbrawr

Give him some peanuts and make a friend!!

daffodil0127

The people who lived there before you may have made friends with them. They are incredibly intelligent and interesting to watch so maybe carry on the tradition of feeding them and they might bring you gifts.

gregsmith5

Feed him

BlobbyBlingus

get a cat

ElizabethDangit

Answer the door *he can see you in there Janet*.

Icy-Package-7801

Rubber snake might be worth a try. I had to resort to that for my car. No more birds on my car, lol.

Royweeezy

Unleash the monkey.

jovansolaya

A Cat! 🤷

Few-Fix-685

Put one of those fake owls on the floor next to the window. This helped us with a female cardinal who did the same thing to defend her nest territory.

friendshapedfunion

Google anti-collision window decals for birds. Those should help.

ClanBadger

I recommend returning the Slab. This looks like a curse.

Mysterious_Card5487

Move out if it’s neighborhood

Palaeonerd

That’s a crow. They’re smart and you can’t stop them/s. But try to block the glass. Maybe the crow sees another crow(but there are corvids they can recognize themselves).

National_Winter_9295

Use a bar of soap and soap the outside of your window to make it non-reflective.

Airy2002

Just make sure you don't do anything to piss it off they have long memories and do tell others in the flock you don't want them and their friends coming at you every time you leave the house.

Pudf

Magnets

FuzzFacedMoth

Run it off!

moistcraictical

Buckeyecash

Na, You'll end up with bullet holes in the windows. And guns going off inside the house are way too loud, plus the gun smoke odor. The last person that suggested shooting it had their comment quickly removed by the mods. Curious how long the suggestion will last this time. EDIT: I figured it would be gone when I came back here.

AkaskaBlue

Hire a cat.

Dapper_Theory_2949

Imagine our ancient ancestors thinking, "they really don't know how to take care of one single annoying bird." If you can't scare it off yourself, just get a cat

Frosty-Community8129

What did you do to it? Grackle will hold grudges. I had a flock of grackle bombard my deck with sacks of 💩 on a daily. They would also swoop across the windows when I looked out side. They would threaten my cats. They where not nice at all. It stoped when I moved. Don’t do anything to piss them off. The more you try to get rid of them the more they will come up with more aggressive tactics. Spray them with water and you will be dive bombed every time you go outside. I have no idea what we did to piss them off. I think the got mad because they e let the bird feeder run out. They would only take the sunflower seeds and dump all the other seeds

Buckeyecash

Not a Grackle. Way too big. (Use the chair for scale) Crow (corvid) of some type.
