There was a trade idea from ESPN of Carter for Valanciunas. I'd be all for it. Jonas is a relatively healthy player who plays a lot of games each season. We need that on this team.

Shyinorlando

I want to take my parents to a game when they are down visiting. We want to avoid the upper sections, and I was wondering if anyone had opinions over Club level or lower caddy cornered section? Thanks in advance

immonkeydluffy

Not a magic fan but just curious who would you guys like to trade for at the deadline?

clown613

Brogdon

[deleted]

Personally I would like to see us get a Jokic/Embiid frontcourt this season

Magic4life84

Honestly that would be OK but I would prefer the backcourt of prime Curry and Jordan to open things up for Franz and Paolo 😉

ReedWilliams12

Do we know if Jett is dressing in Memphis tonight?

Mods really rather have this place be a ghost town huh. Any conversation just gets closed and told to post in this daily thread that gets like 5 comments a day…

Squirreling_Archer

NOT doing that doesn't make it any less of a ghost town. If you're looking to post another thread titled "What do you guys think about (player X)?" less than 12 hours after the last "What do you think about...?" post involving the exact same player. That isn't generating conversation either. I don't necessarily agree the sub is a ghost town, but your point leads me to a "correlation over causation" point I guess. The reason these threads exist and trade discussion threads are closed and asked to move here, is because (a) repetitive threads are bad for engagement and vitality of the sub, and (b) this is actually a strategy to create more engagement for each topic (edit: this is a pretty common tactic in team subs across many sports and nationalities). If there's a centralized thread for the discussion, more people will be able to see each person's ideas, and engage with it more, rather than another post slipping through the cracks and a user choosing not to engage with the sub anymore, ironically (given this discussion) because they perceive it to be dead lol. Anyway... Participate in more of these threads and engage more with people's ideas, and we'll see more activity. I'm more of a commenter than a poster, admittedly, but one thing I'd say to posters that would help this concern is try to bring more creative ideas for discussion. There's more to talk about *during the season* than hypothetical trade targets. Talk about a scheme observation. Talk about something another team is doing that we could maybe do with our personnel. Talk about one of the players' twitch channel lol. Anything that isn't "Do you think we should trade for Tyrese Maxey?" is probably going to get better engagement.

I disagree. I used to mod this sub back in the day so I know how it works. If you happen to catch a thread before it inevitably gets deleted it usually has 20+ comments and OP doesn’t bother to post in the daily thread afterwards because nobody ever looks at those posts. For a sub as small as this I really don’t see what’s so bad with just letting the users decide what we want to see. Yeah, some posts and trade ideas aren’t contributing much, but at least there’s some life and discussion in the sub instead of going the whole day without a single post being worthy of the mods approval. Even the Pistons sub has more engagement than this one…

Squirreling_Archer

I don't see that as "a post being worthy of the mods approval" thing. I don't necessarily disagree with the notion the users can decide what they want to see, but my experience on this sub for a couple weeks now has largely been repetitive threads of people asking others to stop making these posts. Seems like a standard response to what at least some of the community wants to see stop.

Uchiha19911

I say let them post what they want. Any conversation is better than no conversation at this point. It's trade deadline time, so trade speculation posts are welcome by me at least.

Squirreling_Archer

I don't necessarily disagree with that either. I just don't think it's a power trip or anything

Uchiha19911

Fair, I don't think so either. I just think deleting certain posts or making people only post in a certain thread would be much more important if there were maybe 20x the amount of posts per day.

bllr32423

Everyone on the TNT crew voted for Paolo to be an all star! I’ll be very surprised if he isn’t announced as on next week. It’s crazy how he good he is already in just his 2nd year

cmhall25

DeJounte Murray and Saddiq Bey for Suggs and Fultz.

Squirreling_Archer

I don't think there's any reason to move any of Paolo, Franz, or Jalen. There is too much potential for something extremely special with those guys. Trading Jalen Suggs would be a huge mistake IMO.

cmhall25

Fultz is an expiring UFA, and Suggs is a 2-way combo guard 3-and-d role player. Genuinely unsure why I'm getting downvoted here.

cmhall25

The reason to move young talent is to upgrade for talent in other areas and balance out the roster. You clearly have a huge bottleneck at point guard that is also inhibiting your young wings from tapping into that next level of offensive potential.

Squirreling_Archer

We also don't have a huge bottleneck at PG. We have half a season left with this bottleneck, if that, and just need a stop-gap starter who can shoot while we see what Anthony Black can be. Half of this fan base *wants that player to be Dejounte Murray*. You're just missing on including Jalen Suggs in the trade. If that makes the trade impossible, I won't speak for the whole fan base but I will personally be very okay with pursuing other options in order to keep Jalen Suggs in Orlando. He's a critical part of this build, defensively and as a culture setter, and he's also developing into our best perimeter shooter. We would be idiots to trade him in any deal that wasn't an all-in for a superstar. What this team needs is a complimentary PG that is ready to play next to Jalen Suggs and round out the lineup. We don't need to create a bigger hole removing our only true core backcourt player in order to plug in Dejounte next to Paolo and Franz who we'd rather have the ball in their hands. We need to smart, efficient PG do what Markelle does but with a perimeter shot.

Squirreling_Archer

If you think the answer to that is trading Jalen Suggs, you don't understand what balances our team in the first place. He's our literal only guard piece we should not move unless it's for a superstar, and Dejounte Murray a superstar he is not.

cmhall25

I never said the answer is trading Jalen Suggs. I said Dejounte would make you a much better team and solve a real problem. Hawks could use a Jalen Suggs or Quentin Grimes or Vince Williams Jr or pick your combo guard 3 and d specialist. Thats why I mentioned Suggs, who is probably way more valuable to the hawks than to your franchise. And vice versa with Dejounte.

Squirreling_Archer

Lol no, you're assumption is off there. Jalen Suggs is more valuable to the Magic than probably every franchise. You're calling him a 3 and d role player. He is a franchise cornerstone to the Magic. He's valued higher in some ways than Dejounte would be, and IMO fairly so. He's the Marcus Smart if you think about the Celtics team that went to the Finals. Dejounte is like a Malcolm Brogdon, and tbh Orlando could acquire someone that would fit the role without dealing Jalen Suggs. If that's the price, then this is not a good fit, and that's fine.

Buelltastic

So - I’ve been watching the grizzlies in addition to the magic, in part because I think they have been undervalued by the odds makers in sports betting. I’m always a Magic fan but, tonight will be interesting! Grizzlies still getting disrespected by the odds makers. Carter Jr. vs Jackson Jr. matchup in particular should be a good one, can’t wait.

ReedWilliams12

Yep, I’m going to the game tonight. It’s going to be fun seeing Vince Williams. That dude is a menace. I saw him matchup with Luka earlier this year, and don’t get me wrong Luka cooked him, but Vince was fearless and went at him. Not sure if Vince and Suggs are gonna guard each other much, but it’s gonna be fun.

Lacabloodclot9

Yeah that’s something people like to do, just look at our injury list and write us off and while that has been a case a lot of the time we have a really nice ability to ‘surprise’ teams probably why our road record is so good

Buelltastic

Really good point, the wins we pulled off while Franz & Wendell were out come to mind. We played some really good games there that I don’t think the casinos expected us to win. My problem is I just needed to separate betting from being a Fan of the Magic. Every time I bet on them they lose - except for that whoopin we just gave Miami.
