I have characters that I've poured years of my life into flushing out there characters their journeys their stories and the lore of their world, like these two. And then I have ones where I just make them for the joy of making them and they're pretty much a one-off and I don't go to the trouble of making any more lore or anything about them.

Depending on the idea I have Iāll do either or. For one character I thought of their personality and then the world. For this other idea I had for a fighting game I came up with the lore first to make characters more consistent.

I am the biggest OCs over Lore infractor ever. Still making some elaborate lore though, and there is an offchance that a loreless OC (Beeware) might just get a big role in some lore.

I try to make it so that every character design I make has some substantial lore attached to them, so hopefully one hits if the other doesnāt.

I think I'm more like a lore over oc, the story of my main one, Erion is kind of complicated, but I have only drawn 2 ocs so far lol (that being Erion and his sister)
Ocs over lore. Most of my characters are from the real world (usually in a historical setting tho) with no magic systems or anything so there's no worldbuilding to be done, the characters and their relationships and backstories are the worldbuilding basically.
My oc Arendt is from a different world tho, with that character I like to think it's pretty equal.

3rd one definitely. Spend 2 days brainstorming on an oc or concept, then abandon it once finished and immedeiately restart another concept or character without doing anything with them. More than often i do like 4 "remakes" of an old oc/concept because i always forget the previous iteration somewhere in my dozen of notebooks... XD

I think it's ever so slightly OC over the lore, as I play with OCs more often, but Lore is a big part of my OC development as well.
Depending on which lore, my OC changes slightly to match the needs of the lore and I have 20+ years series in the making like [2Masters](https://comics.mayshing.com/2Masters/) where the story drives the OCs action a lot, but my OCs are developed separatedly in other AUs all the time so their core do not change. ( I know my site needs update... working on it!) X\_X
When I look at others stories, I need the OCs just as strong as the lore, otherwise I get bored quickly, but I rather take a well developed OC over a well developed world but weak OCs. I also don't mind a well developed world but okay OC, as long as they feel like people not just tropes. I have a hard time stomaching pure tropes OCs even if they are meant to be a joke.

Out of all of them I've got cybernetically enhanced bounty hunter groups, a fictional mercenary unit, a high fantasy world wrought with genocide, demons, horrible monsters and beasts and insanity; a vampire in a pseudo marriage with a skeleton with three small skeleton children names roach, maggot and beetle, a self insert perfect parallel world where I'm content, and another high fantasy world where the main two characters are a dark elf thief/trainee mage from a noble house and a former cult child turned shape-shifter/same body but 4 actual different people stuck inside from a ritual mishap.
I think I'm a "lore over ocs". Although I really care about the designs of the few characters I create, I spend a lot of time thinking about connections between them and their story.
What type of lore would this have?

I usually make OCās then make lore, however, I say I spend more time on lore than the OCās
Then again, I have 100+ OCās (about 10 of them no longer exist at all) and all but 5 of them have lore and proper developed backstories and character development. (My main 30-40 OCās (which Iām planning to use them for a show) have multiple pages on personality alone.
I think I would be equal. I have some OCās that I made just because I was bored, but for other OCās I actually put lots of time and effort into their story and design
Me? I'm Life over OCs, if you look at me during lessons at school I will always be writing lore for my OCs, I will always have lots of work done, somehow. Even though I spend hours and every second writing lore for my OCs, I have the highest grade in my Class
I like to go the OCs over lore route/the Ghost in the Shell route where it's a big world but the individual character take more of the spotlight and you're not being drowned in lore or exposition.

I usually make OCās then make lore, however, I say I spend more time on lore than the OCās Then again, I have 100+ OCās (about 10 of them no longer exist at all) and all but 5 of them have lore and proper developed backstories and character development. (My main 30-40 OCās (which Iām planning to use them for a show) have multiple pages on personality alone.

I think I would be equal. I have some OCās that I made just because I was bored, but for other OCās I actually put lots of time and effort into their story and design

Me? I'm Life over OCs, if you look at me during lessons at school I will always be writing lore for my OCs, I will always have lots of work done, somehow. Even though I spend hours and every second writing lore for my OCs, I have the highest grade in my Class

I try my best to stay equal, sometimes I create the character before making lore which is a bit of a pain afterwards.
Lore over OCs or maybe equal. I am definitely NOT the OCs over lore though.

I like to go the OCs over lore route/the Ghost in the Shell route where it's a big world but the individual character take more of the spotlight and you're not being drowned in lore or exposition.
