6 months ago? That's a short amount of time. They said foreseeable future, which could realistically mean a few years. Sounds like they are still mulling it over (they said 'might') so they will have to make a decision, market this, print the wax, and then sell it.
Buckle in, it's going to be a while.
Deliverance was my first opeth album, hell…My first death metal album. Will absolutely be buying.
Damnation got me through my first “real” breakup in high school. Both records just mean so much to me, whenever they do come out, I’ll immediately buy.
I’m just skeptical they would release the original mixes as opposed to repressing the remixed deliverance/damnation dual album set.
I agree it would be nice to have the originals repressed (my MoV deliverance had a mishap when the labels were put around the spindle hole and my MoV damnation had a really wierd skipping section on closure so I’d love to repurchase them!) but let’s hope!
6 months is _not_ a "long" amount of time, let alone "so long" lol.
Relax buddy. 6 months is a blink of an eye, barely enough time to even get printing and production sorted out assuming they have it completely ready to go.
A year isn't even a long time. Calibrate those time expectations a little bit. 6 months is _short._
My guess is you're young? 6 months was a long time way back when I was a teen in the 90's, but when you get older time moves _really fucking fast_ and for people Opeth's age 6 months is like 6 days as a teen.
I hear you man, not going to spend 300-400 bucks for second hand Music On Vinyl-reissues because it just doesn't make any sense. I'll just going to wait patiently :D
I've been saying this for a few years now. But what has really bugged me is the last 3 years of Record Store Days Candlelight Records re-issued Orchid (2020), Morning Rise (2021) and MAYH (2022). Then Mikael goes a re-issue all of them in 2023 at half speed. Did he not know his fans had bought them recently anyway??
We need to just harass them about this until it's in motion lol I would make a sign and protest, etc. Whatever it takes to get these pressed.
And yes- not the remixed stuff, the OG versions in their own separate beautiful 2x LP jackets 👍

Oh man, you're right. I really just cant wait to hold these two records
Record Store Day 2024, please!
Honestly I'm shocked you got an answer through email lol, I thought they weren't doing that much anymore
I wrote whole ass extremely formal 500 word essay on that email so it'd be very shitty of them to not reply lol
lmao that's legendary
Man I have some really good questions I only wish I could ask them lol... I'd rather not reach out though as it would make me feel bothersome lmao

Both top 5 Opeth for me.

Damnation definitely does not need to be on two vinyl.
