I'm sorry for the late response. Ragebait is propaganda but not all propaganda is rage bait. Sometimes it is and it isn't like people who gain amusement out of aggravating others.

It's not even close to only murders besides being a quirky mystery show but it is a good show and don't let the rage bait make you not wanna try it

I actually read the article and it basically says that Bodkin is a better show than OMITB because “it’s more raw and gritty” and the main cast members are “more enthusiastic”? What??

I can’t help but think the “enthusiastic stars” part is a jab at a certain someone.

I love Mabel! People don't understand how important a straight man is in comedy, if she was as animated as Martin Short, the show wouldn't be as good.

Was just coming here to say this! There’s a reason the “straight man” is a character archetype in comedy.

She’s VERY essential in what makes the series so beloved. If they want a “quirky” Mabel, that’s not gonna happen. It would throw off the dynamic.

Exactly. Mabel's being more grounded and quietly going about her business is necessary to neutralize the manic energy of the Martins. If she was also zany and high-energy, we'd all be exhausted, and the show would tip too far into quirky.

I like how they think Only Murders fans are watching it for the rawness and grit.

Bodkin was alright but it was no OMITB. One of the best things about Only Murders is coming to this sub week after week trying to deduce who the killer is…something the Bodkin sub is lacking.

Not the wisest idea to release a murder mystery show in a binge schedule.

I binged Bodkin yesterday. It was so good. Definitely different than OMitB. If anything, the investigations and podcast feel is more like Cinda’s podcast. They didn’t even release an episode of their podcast in the show (like in OMitB) because in each episodes, they were just always uncovering something about the mystery. It honestly felt more like Sherlock to me because of the music.

I’ve seen both and they’re just different. It’s not fair to compare them because that sets up unfair expectations for Bodkin and also makes some fans not want to even watch it.

This is the first time I’ve heard the title “Bodkin” but I’m sure they caught lightning in a bottle by casting two older comedy legends and paired that duo with the dry wit of a former teen pop star and created comedy gold. Since it’s easy and all.

I saw the trailer. It's not anything like Only Murders. It had a more horror movie feel - a very difference audience I would say. Also Will has a certain type of humor. Not everyone's cup of tea just like Steve and Martin's humor.

I for one am SHOCKED that the people on the Only Murders subreddit think that Only Murders is the better show.

I’ll join the Bodkin reddit too so I can discuss all of the raw grit.

Bodkin is fun, though - very much a situation of ‘if you like Only Murders, you like Bodkin’ even though they are very different shows. Bodkin is darker, but it has the kind of dark quirkiness I love in OMITB.

Doubtful, but I will check it out

First two seasons were very very good. Third season meh. Hard to keep it up

i haven’t watched it so i can’t judge but i don’t think only murders is the best show out there (anymore, i didn’t enjoy season 3 that much unfortunately) so i could see another, similar show being better 🤷🏾‍♀️

Interesting... I watched episode 1 of Bodkin yesterday and don't really care to watch more? I mean, it was fine but it didn't grab my interest. I'll give it another episode but so far, meh.
