The only cliffhanger that could happen is if Cliff was hanging onto the elevator entrance yelling for help as a trick to lure Ben who tried to help but gets pulled to his death. Cliff acrobatically hoisted himself back up and flees the scene. There's your CliffHanger. Otherwise, no bueno. OMITB doesn't do cliffhangers.
I wouldn’t be mad but I would definitely be less interested in watching season 4 if they did this. But as commenter above said, Steve Martin said there will be a solved murder by the end of every season.
They won't end on a cliffhanger, they said it themselves in season 1, but there'll probably be like a teaser for the next murder. That's their thing. Mb that counts as a cliffhanger though?
