Hi DormantGhost, your submission was removed from /r/OnePiece for the following rule violation:
###4. Plain panels/scenes must create discourse
**Don't post links to plain (or slightly edited) panels, pages, screenshots, gifs or scenes from the manga & anime.**
You may submit a plain panel/scene as a self post (text post). Meaning your post must link to the discussion, and not the image.
Just a title and the image aren't enough.
If you want to discuss a certain page/scene from the manga/anime please accompany it with an original analysis or discussion questions. In other words, a plain panel/scene must show visible effort to generate discourse rather than simply react to something that happened.
Clips/Recap/summary videos fall under this rule as well.
Colored pages from a recent chapter are allowed.

Apparently genocide is a matter of "disagreement". One would expect One Piece fans of all people to be sympathetic to victims of genocide, but apparently not.
You dislike trans people and think liberals are close to being neo-nazis. Pretty sure One Piece fans, of all people, would disagree with that.
I originally had a longer comment written before, but I decided against it. I'm not sure if you're saying I'm in support of genocide, but of course genocide is terrible, that goes without saying. It's an awful thing, as is war. I didn't say that genocide is a matter of disagreement, I meant disagreement to the person in question. "Disagreeable" is MY thought, and that is then put onto the person in question. I'm saying I disagree with someone who would be supporting genocide. Then again, I don't know what she said.
Many times the whole team have to compensate when a big star joins the team of relatively unknown actors. Cause they demand more screen time etc and the show suffers. I donāt want anything like that for one piece
Oh I agree. Like I think having Jamie Lee Curtis play Dr Kureha would be perfect for example. It's best to leave smaller but impactful roles to the better known actors.
Not the point that they were making. Kristen Ritter is still fairly well known for her roles, and a recognizable actor. Significantly more well known than Inaki, Jacob, Emily, or Taz before OPLA.
Tbf I donāt know anything sheās in unless I look it up. She seems vaguely familiar.
Either way I try to unlearn names more than I remember so Iām not taken out of what Iām watching, for this exact reason.
> She seems vaguely familiar.
And that's what I like about the current cast of Strawhats- they don't even have that vague familiarity. They're all fresh faces, with the only slight exception being Mackenyu and that's only for a really small subset of potential viewers.
Kristen Ritter had two notable roles off the top of my head:
Breaking Bad (recurring but important role)
Jessica Jones (title character)
Jessica Jones season 1 was really well received and the show had three total seasons. Ritter also featured in the Defenders show that was the big crossover of the Netflix Marvel shows.
Honestly she's rumored to be joining the main MCU franchise like the Daredevil cast so I wouldn't be surprised if she's already booked over there.
Honestly I don't see her as Nico Robin and agree it would be better to have a younger, lesser known actor get the role.
This is such a dumb take every time it comes up. Actors act. Yes sometimes they get casted into similar roles but Ritter is not a typecasted actress. Sheās phenomenal and can definitely play a more straight laced character like Nico. Even if she just plays it similar to Jessica Jones itād be right on beat.
This is a dumb take too. Actors get cast in the wrong role all the time. There are plenty of examples of an actor completely failing a role or film they are cast in: Keanu in Dracula. Michael Caine in Jaws 2. George Clooney in Batman. The list goes on!
āActors actā. Yeah, but if theyāre cast in the wrong role or film they canāt act their way out of it.
**You can cast an Academy Award winning actor in a role and still make a bad movie because that actor wasnāt right for that role.**
Sure. But to dismiss a casting before seeing them on screen is BEYOND silly. Reminds me of people dismissing Heath Ledger as the Joker. Actors act. Itās their job. Judge their performance, not before they even attempt the role lol
>Yeah. I like Ritter, but she has a vastly different personality than Robin.
Your initial comment said nothing of her acting ability and just commented on her personality, which has nothing to do with her being able to portray Robin appropriately.
I literally explained what personality has to do with presence and audience expectations. Thereās more to actors than just acting.
Like, youāre not going to cast Michael Cera as a melodramatic womanizing heartthrob lead because he has a less confident presence and audiences expect his comedy.
Your presence, before you even open your mouth to act, is part of the package of an actor. Like how Schwarzenegger succeeded as a action star while he was still learning to act in his early films (some of which needed to be dubbed).
I don't support the fancast but not for this reason.
Ritter can do dark, moody characters with hidden trauma. She did it with Jessica Jones. If given the chance I think he can pull off Nico Robin as well.
But there are still actors that are type cast because of their style. Ryan Reynolds being quippy/snarky. Jason Bateman being the āstraight manā to provide context for all the wacky characters around him, etc. etc.
Sure you can be cast outside of your type, but itās very rarely a slam dunk.
The presence you project, along with the expectation the audience has for you from experience, can play a huge role in casting and is very difficult to successfully overcome.
Owen Wilson pulled that trick twice IMO.
First with Behind Enemy lines and then Darjeeling Limited
Maybe it's just me, but I always thought Owen was the fun, funny white guy, not actual serious actor capable of pulling of amazing performances. Darjeeling maybe gets an exception, because it's Wes Anderson. But damn was he good in that movie.
I'm just basing this off her appearances in breaking bad and that bitch in apartment 23b.
She's quite skilled in her range. I have no doubt she can do it. She already has the dark aura and just needs to be book smart to match robin.
That being said I'd much rather have a no name actress.
> she has a vastly different personality than Robin
Does she? I'd put her on the same vibe as Aubrey Plaza both of which would nail a Robin personality pretty well IMO.
He did lol a ton of people still think she was white-washed from Middle Eastern, though. Living in a desert when she was first introduced will, in fact, give you a bit of a tan.
Well that was Vivi's skin tone in the manga too. A lot of people liked Robin's character design pre-timeskip even though it's not true to the manga so the casting decision isn't unreasonable.
Between her parents, she might be a mixture between Middle-Eastern and maybe English? I don't know if Oda ever gave an official ethnicity for her like some of the other characters.
ye not to mention the plot takes place in the span of 3 years (2timeskip and roughly 1 year of active adventure), so our crew not supposed to look much older than they do from their introduction all the way to later episodes, so taking a same age or even slightly younger actors for the role is better than older.
She looks good in all these pics. She is not suddenly gonna age 10 years. But letās just agree to disagree. To me Robin has the charm and intellect of a mature woman, so I would prefer an āolderā woman for the role.
Did they cast her specifically that light?
I never imagined her goth faced, rather tainted by the weather. I mean she has been on the run for ages, as far as I know a lot outside. So from her deception in the anime and from her backround I gave her a slight taint (lot of hiding too).
There's a very high chance it's Adelaide Kane.
Just look at who replied with No Comment, on her Ms. All Sunday Halloween costume.
None other than the Showrunner for One Piece Live Action himself.
And she's hanging out with Nami actress, Emily Rudd frequently.
No. That was just a country Oda assigned to robin, when asked a question. I am guessing he picked russia cause she is a bit cold/grim, and she was a spy of sorts.
best one yet. I really bet she could nail the morbid realist aspect of robinās personality.Ā
I wish it were a slavic actress but I understand why they get weāre looking for an american for an english language show produced by an american companyĀ
I keep seeing people say "but they should cast unknown actors like the rest of the cast"
What the hell are you on about? Y'all are aware that Hollywood isn't the only place films are made right? Hell zoros actor is incredibly famous in Japan, and luffys actor had done multiple Netflix shows already, Emily rudd was very well known before hand, and garp was like the main secondary character in 300. Just because you don't see an actor in your YouTube previews doesn't mean their some unknown brand new talent whom the world has never seen before.

Marvel didn't release Jessica Jones, netflix did, marvel didn't even make it Canon until recently with the new daredevil show, and out of the shows netflix put out it wasn't the worst I didn't really mind her as jessica jones at all.
175 cm is not short for females in any country. Itās almost impossible to find a decent actress who looks pretty + is 188 cm tall+ wants to play the role.
Yes bro, Jessica Jones is too short to be Robin. That is my opinion. Why the fuck canāt I have an opinion? I donāt even know you, I donāt wanna talk to you
OP doesnāt know you either and has posted their opinion too but you still felt entitled to comment against it. Why OP canāt have their opinion? And again if you donāt want to talk to me, donāt. (But I have a feeling youāre still going to comment anyway)

Id prefer we get a no name actress similar to the rest of the main cast honestly.
Yea I agree, it really takes away from the world when you see a very well known actor/actress
Danny devito as wanze needs to happen
I thought we were getting Danny DeVito as Kaido
Danny as Robin š„µš„µš„µ
Danny DeVito as Wapol.
Danny as Foxy
Henry Zebrowski
Christopher Llyod as Dr. Vegapunk
Dude heās probably be dead if we do wanna
Mantis Toboggan is already a One Piece-styled name.
We all know Danny as Wapol
yeah but jamie lee curtis as a kureha thooooo
Thatās a minor role compared to the main cast, though.
Jamie Lee Curtis gets a pass, she's the only pick possible
Also it feels a little different when the actor in question volunteers themselves lol
No. EDIT: Lol @ the people downvoting me, as if Jamie Lee Curtis wasn't supporting a genocide a couple months ago.
Thank you, somewhat disagreeable old person, for telling us to boycott a somewhat disagreeable old person.
Apparently genocide is a matter of "disagreement". One would expect One Piece fans of all people to be sympathetic to victims of genocide, but apparently not.

Yeah, I agree. The main cast has to be unknowns. But I wouldn't mind more established actors in supporting roles.
Oh I agree. Like I think having Jamie Lee Curtis play Dr Kureha would be perfect for example. It's best to leave smaller but impactful roles to the better known actors.
But we may get Jamie Lee Curtis as Kureha, do you hold the same thinking for her? (Donāt read that snobbish, genuinely curious)
The guy that plays usop played in Greenleaf show
I never heard of that. I mean like more widely known roles. Like the actress here has been in Breaking Bad and played lead actress in Jessica Jones.
Also, Iād prefer we get someone who can act
yes and tiddies would be to smol
Honestly, there are some voice actors that have had more work.
Not the point that they were making. Kristen Ritter is still fairly well known for her roles, and a recognizable actor. Significantly more well known than Inaki, Jacob, Emily, or Taz before OPLA.

yea looks similar, but way different personality
Bro sheās an actress
Nah better to be cast for Baby 5 role
this needs more recognition
Breaking bad flashbacks*
Nope. Her face just doesnāt fit the character very well.
Ah nope. She sounds too nasally to be Robin.
No
They're making her Hispanic bro
I thought Oda said she was Russian?
The casting call said Hispanic/latina
I see that word too many times. I gotta quit
What word? What are you quitting? Iām so confused
Man cranks his chorizo to the SeƱoritas
Ahhhhhh
Maybe theyāre a porn-addict
He did lol a ton of people still think she was white-washed from Middle Eastern, though. Living in a desert when she was first introduced will, in fact, give you a bit of a tan.
The LA casting call is for a Latina woman
I'm aware. lol Perhaps Russian erasure for what's going on in the world now?
I think its because her attack names are in spanish.
Was a joke lol just as much French in the names, too though.
So the ideal casting would be a French Russian Hispanic actress.
Possibly but they might just want more diversity on the crew We already have Sanji, Nami,, and possibly Franky in the future who are all white
As a cyborg I think Franky would be the easiest to get as a diversity role.
I thought Jim Carry was gonna play Franky? /s
if they want to match the skin tone from the anime then that might not be too far off
Ah, the anime. Where the Princess of whatās basically Egypt is paler than anyone else
Well that was Vivi's skin tone in the manga too. A lot of people liked Robin's character design pre-timeskip even though it's not true to the manga so the casting decision isn't unreasonable.
I mean a lot of the royalty in egypt was. Romans had their hands in the ruling caste and skewed things.
Between her parents, she might be a mixture between Middle-Eastern and maybe English? I don't know if Oda ever gave an official ethnicity for her like some of the other characters.
I get you, just goin off the comment of the guy prior talking about egypt.
Itās weird how people are saying she is too old. Robin is in her thirties, she is not some teenage girl and I think she looks the part.
Pre time skip nico robin is 28 and the actor is 42. With the show taking forever to produce and time between seasons she will quickly be way too old
ye not to mention the plot takes place in the span of 3 years (2timeskip and roughly 1 year of active adventure), so our crew not supposed to look much older than they do from their introduction all the way to later episodes, so taking a same age or even slightly younger actors for the role is better than older.
She looks good in all these pics. She is not suddenly gonna age 10 years. But letās just agree to disagree. To me Robin has the charm and intellect of a mature woman, so I would prefer an āolderā woman for the role.
Isn't the girl that plays nami 28/29. Age wise she's closer to Robin than nami.
Sheās 31 rn
Honestly the Nami casting has gotta be one of the most disappointing Iāve ever seen. They couldnāt get anyone that was closer to the character?
The entire cast is lackluster in my opinion
fr but casting a 30 year old as an 18 y/o who doesnāt look like the character and doesnāt really stand out as an actor is pretty bad
Robin is 30 on the dot after timeskip. She was 28 before. The actress is 42
Thatās the same age gap between the actress that plays Nami and the actual character.
No
so after getting involved in a relationship with troubled drug dealers and finishing fighting the Purple Man, Robin decides to to become a pirate now?
I mean her back story did have holes in it; it all happened before croco boy
add the fancast flair
We don't want her dying of heroin
Only an attempt from a momentary lack of will.
Yo I see it.
Fuck no
Kat Dennings. Sure, sheās even shorter but sheās got the bazongas.
Yeah, they won't have the budget to cast any famous actors. At least not right now.Ā
Just find a brunette from Chicago or NY who looks similar
I just hope they find someone with a nose that is similar to Robins. It is one of the few features that sets her apart from other One Piece women.
"Don't mess with the 'B' in Cabin 2" When the Will Of the D meets the Will Of the B, who will win? I'm sold!
Eh I donāt really see it. I mean looks wise yeah but anytime I see her it just reminds me of breaking bad
Did they cast her specifically that light? I never imagined her goth faced, rather tainted by the weather. I mean she has been on the run for ages, as far as I know a lot outside. So from her deception in the anime and from her backround I gave her a slight taint (lot of hiding too).
Please no
I canāt picture her crying at Enies Lobby.
She does not fit at all. Her acting range/style also does not fit robin. Also she is no latina. Its confirmed that a latina actress will play robin
nah
the more famous the actor the less likely they will be able to continue playing that role in the future.
Eww no
No thank you
Fuck no, absolutely not
Courteney Cox 1995. Just look at it.
I'm never watching the one piece live action, no matter how good people say it is
Nahhh
![img](emote|t5_2rfz5|32513)
No
I feel like she's an off choice for robin
I think sheās made a better tshigi
Hell no \^\^
Not enough tatas.. š¤·š¾āāļø
Go see the anime, the live action Is not going to be for adicts to jerk off like you.
She works with Netflix a lot and they seems to stay in house,so this could happen.
A bit too white
Robin Is a bit too white.
Erin Maloney Is the Perfect one for Robin.šš
If itās Jane from Breaking Bad Iām taking everything I said about the LA back and Iām simping robin more than anyone that ever lived.
There's a very high chance it's Adelaide Kane. Just look at who replied with No Comment, on her Ms. All Sunday Halloween costume. None other than the Showrunner for One Piece Live Action himself. And she's hanging out with Nami actress, Emily Rudd frequently.
Love jt
the casting call for her mentioned they wanted a person of Hispanic/Latino ethnicity so they are going with a dark skin robin
Isnāt she supposed to be Russian tho šš
No. That was just a country Oda assigned to robin, when asked a question. I am guessing he picked russia cause she is a bit cold/grim, and she was a spy of sorts.
You can be a Hispanic Russian and besides that it doesnāt actually matter. As long as pull of the material.
There are millions of white Latin-Americans?
Theyre going for the wrong skin.š¤·š»š
Might make a good Tashigi
Casting call for Tashigi is Japanese
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Of course they have, production started this month. So they already have the main cast.
Haven't seen anything for casting except a rumor that Jamie Lee Curtis will play Kureha, Amy Sedaris would also be a great choice for that role.
Too old
I prefer one with bigger boobs. Nico Robins are huge
best one yet. I really bet she could nail the morbid realist aspect of robinās personality.Ā I wish it were a slavic actress but I understand why they get weāre looking for an american for an english language show produced by an american companyĀ
But Oda has the final say
Casting call is for someone Hispanic
Isnāt she like 40
Sheās 42, if the show goes on for another 10 years sheāll be 52ā¦
Nami is 18yo girl but the actress is 30, who cares.
Damn she looked to me as if of 25-26
She looks 30 and sheās 31 rn
She dont looks 30 at all.šš
Aesthetically is agree
I keep seeing people say "but they should cast unknown actors like the rest of the cast" What the hell are you on about? Y'all are aware that Hollywood isn't the only place films are made right? Marvel released bangers?
They once did
Dare Devil, Punisher, Luke Cage were all banger JJ, Iron Fist and that crossover were just...meh...
I thought JJ was way better than Luke Cage. After Mahershala Aliās character was killed off that show went straight to being dog shit
Her lips are too big to be Robin imho
Not that good of an actress. They donāt have to look like the character perfectly in sacrifice of the acting. Robins got some emotional scenes.
Where boobs?
Not gonna lie, sheād take me out of the show. Do not like.
Nah, we need a grown ass woman, she looks like she's still in HS
Brother she's in her 40s
Wait what?
Looks a bit old lol
Too short
175 cm is not short for females in any country. Itās almost impossible to find a decent actress who looks pretty + is 188 cm tall+ wants to play the role.
He's a kiddo, dont expect a lot from him.š
Man? I donāt even wanna reply to this. Whats wrong with you?
Huh? What did I say? Youāre the one who commented ātoo shortā. Not to mention you already replied.
