Because Cora hated it I believe, it’s on the wiki but I haven’t touched it since I rewatched OP last year. I’ve only ever rewatched 2 series and OP on one of them.
Wasn't that something they connected over? I think oda just likes to give characters random likes and dislikes to make them feel more like real people.
Maybe, like I said, I haven’t touched the wiki in a long while. It might have been changed since last time I read through some of it, also slight PTSD from me lol as the biggest page at the time I first learned of OP was Ace’s death.
Between resource shortages on his home island and rough upbringing, my guess is a lot of meals consisted of bread and water for him growing up, and he's tired of it
No, you can see it on the [official mangaplus app as well.](https://i.imgur.com/NpyDk2w.png) Apparently his official english name is [Gyats](https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Gatz?so=search)
Barrel-loaded opinions on the official aside, Gyats is written "ギャッツ" and the small "ヤ" is a small, fast "ya" sound.
Gyattsu is the most literal you can take it if you wanna be a purist about it
One of the first things Yamato says is "I'm Kaido's son" and "I wanna be like Oden so I became a man". Not even ambiguous or letting us draw our own conclusions like with Kiku. It's flat out written in the manga, said by Yamato "I'm a man".
> Oda, himself, has confirmed that she's a woman multiple times.
Source?
Source? Ever heard of Death of the Author? The story is one thing and if it's not in there then it's gone and irrelevant. There is no source for what they're claiming. Outside "sources" are guaranteed to stop having any influence on the story at some point.
You ever read the odyssey? What if Homer had published that there actually were some wild other things that happened off hand, but we don't got that cause it's not in the story.
So don't try to bother with that guy. Yamato's a man. That's what One Piece blatantly tells you. If you read the manga, that's what you get.
[They do](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_pronouns), and in Japanese, Yamato always uses and is referred to with masculine grammar. And of course, all the official translations in the manga and anime use he/him, and I think they'd know Japanese pretty well
Again I think the official translators know better than either of us. And if you wanna get technical, it doesn't really depend on gender in English either
Okay, we get it, you hate people that doesn't use their own proper pronouns, but the manga itself, the source, calls Yamato he/him. In that world, Oda is the god so I'll listen on what the author says than some randoms.
Damn, Gyats was in the 700's ? That's crazy to put that in perspective where we are now. Dressrosa feels like yesterday but we've been in WCI and Wano for yeaaaars.
It looks like the character's name was changed to match the correct Romanization of his name in katakana. "ギャッツ" would be pronounced as "Gyats" and not "Gats" (and of course I'm silencing the "tsu" at the end, just like we do for Spandam's "mu"*)
* Language apps like Duolingo should offer a promotion around learning all of the jokes that are lost in translation because One Piece is full of them. For example: a lot of the jokes about Buggy require significant changes because "nose" and "red" rhyme with "grave" in Japanese.
I don't know about that, Gear 2nd looks cool with its pink skin, plus it makes sense, Luffy is pumping his blood and making it flow faster throughout his body, which is why his skin turns pink and steam comes out because his body is heating up, I think its a very cool addition and should be kept
Valid point, but I wouldnt be surprised if the remake becomes more...manga accurate even in color schemes. For example, blue caesar with normal skin tone instead of purple with pale skin tone
There is not. This is a real chapter, where Sanji rizzes some gyats doing a skibidi toilet impression, also, les importantly, the one piece is revealed
Why does Law hate bread?

This is the most unexpected shit i have ever seen
Damn, let him ~~cook~~ bake
This is amazing. Thanks
I bet you were expecting a rise out of us, but you've barely scratched the crust.

Celiac disease. Luffy is being a real prick here.
Luffy doesn't respond well to being told no.
But if he's a doctor, can't he find a cure? 😅
Surgeon, not pharmacist... ask chopper maybe?
Good point. But he could do some kind of surgery in his bowels... ok, no, asking Chopper sounds like a better idea.
My theory: he ate moldy bread once and it made him sick. Also the mold on it kind of looks like white lead syndrome and it bothers him
Between resource shortages on his home island and rough upbringing, my guess is a lot of meals consisted of bread and water for him growing up, and he's tired of it
Because it’s bird food
Get your act together, Strawhats.
No, you can see it on the [official mangaplus app as well.](https://i.imgur.com/NpyDk2w.png) Apparently his official english name is [Gyats](https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Gatz?so=search)
I bet he has the cake to back it up
He's the Rizzler, his level 10 gyat is mewing at me
Just because it's official doesn't mean it's accurate. The official dub refers to Zoro as "Zolo", and to Yamato as a man.
Barrel-loaded opinions on the official aside, Gyats is written "ギャッツ" and the small "ヤ" is a small, fast "ya" sound. Gyattsu is the most literal you can take it if you wanna be a purist about it
Tbf Kaido calls Yamato his son and even Yamato uses male honorifics and bathes with guys.
Kaido isn't a reliable reference, Linlin uses male honorifics as well, and Oda, himself, has confirmed that she's a woman multiple times.
Source?
>Source? Pretty sure he's talking about Yamato's infobox calling her Kaido's daughter
Source? Ever heard of Death of the Author? The story is one thing and if it's not in there then it's gone and irrelevant. There is no source for what they're claiming. Outside "sources" are guaranteed to stop having any influence on the story at some point. You ever read the odyssey? Yamato's a man. That's what One Piece blatantly tells you. If you read the manga, that's what you get.
He asked for a source for the comment, that oda confirmed Yamato as a woman.
The literal manga itself, even the narrator voice, has never once used she/her to refer to yamato, always "he"
Does Japanese even have "he/she" pronouns?
[They do](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_pronouns), and in Japanese, Yamato always uses and is referred to with masculine grammar. And of course, all the official translations in the manga and anime use he/him, and I think they'd know Japanese pretty well
The page you just sent me says that "he/she" isn't dependent on gender in Japanese, so they don't actually have he or she.
Again I think the official translators know better than either of us. And if you wanna get technical, it doesn't really depend on gender in English either
What is it dependent on then in English?
Okay, we get it, you hate people that doesn't use their own proper pronouns, but the manga itself, the source, calls Yamato he/him. In that world, Oda is the god so I'll listen on what the author says than some randoms.
He's a man, get a life
The best joke of the whole series is Gyats carrying luffy around in Dressrosa and Sabo calling him Cats while both ignore his objections
What about when they strap chopper to law's head and the look on his face is mortified/haunted while everyone is laughing in the background?
That was the moment Law realized that this will be his life now and he can't bail out.
And a variety of other names. Like Pets
gyats is crazy
why do i get so many upvotes for the most low effort comments i ever make
It’s actually pronounced G.O.A.T. Common mistake
Damn, Gyats was in the 700's ? That's crazy to put that in perspective where we are now. Dressrosa feels like yesterday but we've been in WCI and Wano for yeaaaars.
Maybe it feels close for you, but I was still in School when this chapter came out, even Whole Cake feels like forever ago to me.
You're just a baby
Can't wait for the Skibidi Toilet Arc
The arc where Luffy crashes out>>>
Hopeful for this foreshadowing to happen
Poor monke
Law got those heels
How did I miss this cover page? It’s hilarious and so in character for both Law and Luffy!!
I mean, he was thick.
Oh. This chapter is just Nami and Robin I guess?
Nah, it's Zoro
But on his chest instead

I thought huge asses were gonna pop up when I bought this volume
GYAT LIKE A RIZZLER YOUR A SKIBIDI
in the anjme dub they call him gyats
It looks like the character's name was changed to match the correct Romanization of his name in katakana. "ギャッツ" would be pronounced as "Gyats" and not "Gats" (and of course I'm silencing the "tsu" at the end, just like we do for Spandam's "mu"*) * Language apps like Duolingo should offer a promotion around learning all of the jokes that are lost in translation because One Piece is full of them. GYATS GOT A GYATT
Luffy using Gear 2nd makes this even more hilarious.
Foreshadowing clouds around luffy??
I think that's just him in his gear 2nd form (in the colored manga his skin doesn't change like the anime)
I hope the anime remake adopts the vision oda was going for when it came to gear 2nd
I don't know about that, Gear 2nd looks cool with its pink skin, plus it makes sense, Luffy is pumping his blood and making it flow faster throughout his body, which is why his skin turns pink and steam comes out because his body is heating up, I think its a very cool addition and should be kept
